god the melodic sequences in she’s an angel are something else. the chorus is so beautiful and it gets stuck in my head for one billion years because of how catchy it is. the mixolydian sounding verse that’s all unresolved and then the prechorus hits and oh it’s going somewhere and then WOW the melody. i can only dream of coming up with something that good

it’s interesting listening to earlier lemon demon now. i’ve listened to every album like one billion times, because of the massive hyperfixation i had as a teenager, which eventually morphed into the tmbg hyperfixation. and now, i can hear the tmbg influence in these songs i know so well. mainly because i now recognise all the little patterns in tmbg songs. whether it’s intentional or not, i don’t know, but it’s almost extra entertaining being able to point out tmbg-esque guitar parts, chord progressions, wordplay, etc while it’s still definitely lemon demon

been having thoughts since I’ve been showing people more tmbg. it’s kind of frustrating that there are these songs that mean so much to me and it seems that nobody else irl gets it. maybe you have to get past the slightly strange approach to lyrics (although I don’t find them strange), i don’t know… i’m tired of opening up about songs/albums that are really really important to me and getting responses of ‘those lyrics are really weird’ / ‘quirky’ / just generally not understanding that actually there’s more to it than just an average person’s surface-level reaction. i honestly don’t know. maybe it comes with time

tell me about the else 👀 I already know it's one of their best but I'd like to hear your perspective

one of my fav albums of theirs not only because of the songs but because of when i found it. the first time I listened to it, it was snowing, and I was going home early while there was still light. I was coming out of a depression and sorting my life out. and this album helped with that.

slightly sad at the lack of accordion. awesome guitar sounds though — and I love the horns.

it’s very difficult to choose favourite tracks, but I’d say my top 5 are probably upside down frown, climbing the walls, with the dark, withered hope, & the mesopotamians.

also a big fan of the cap’m and bee of the bird of the moth (especially lyrics)

I like the vibes of the pictures I’ve seen, with the snowman and the tree and stuff. and I really love the music video for with the dark. the squid is so awesome
