10 songs, 10 people no. 2
I got the threatened tagback from @outpost51 so here's a shuffle from my electro playlist (fun fact: it's called Calculus because in high school I took AP Calc AB and I would just vibe to electro while doing my homework. I'm not a math person mostly but I have fond memories of that).
Lost Cause by Instrumental Core & Really Slow Motion
Skyforth by Ephixa
Don't You Run by Vicetone & Raja Kumari
Pink Koeks - Original Mix by Spag Heddy
Exterminate by Pegboard Nerds
Razor Sharp by Pegboard Nerds & Tristam (obligatory Aza)
The Lights by Panda Eyes
Aurora by Panda Eyes & Shivaji
Shut Up and Drive - Instrumental by Approaching Nirvana
My Friend by Tristam
I was surprised to see so little Approaching Nirvana in this shuffle and realized I was actually missing a lot of his albums in this playlist.
Tagging back @outpost51 and leaving an open tag!

Chennai Traffic Police Launches Short Film Initiative to Promote Road Safety
The Greater Chennai Traffic Police (GCTP) has taken a proactive step towards enhancing road safety with the release of a series of short films under the initiative titled ‘Neenga Road Raja Va?’ (Are you the King of the Road). Directed by Vignesh Shivan, these films shed light on various traffic violations prevalent on Chennai roads, including wrong-side driving, dangerous maneuvers, and disregard for pedestrian crossings.
The initiative encourages commuters to actively participate in promoting road safety by capturing instances of traffic violations and sharing them on social media platforms like X with the tag @RoadRaja. This collective effort aims to empower citizens to play a pivotal role in enforcing traffic rules and regulations.
According to statements released by the police department, Chennai has witnessed a notable decline in fatal accidents within GCTP limits. This positive trend is attributed to a combination of factors, including the automation of e-challans and robust awareness campaigns conducted by the city police.
In 2023, Chennai recorded a significant decrease in fatal accidents, marking a notable shift from its previous ranking as the top city in India for fatality rates. The number of fatal accidents dropped from 573 in 2021 to 204 in 2023, showcasing a commendable improvement in road safety standards.
Among the key statistics highlighted by the police, the reduction in fatalities due to riding without helmets is particularly noteworthy. Fatalities resulting from this violation decreased from 279 in 2021 to 196 in 2023, reflecting the efficacy of targeted awareness initiatives.
Additionally, the police report reveals that 60,181 cases of wrong-way driving were registered in 2023, underscoring the need for continuous efforts to educate and enforce traffic laws. Road safety programs conducted in schools have been instrumental in instilling awareness among young citizens, with over 100 schools participating and 7,200 students engaged in these initiatives.
The collaborative efforts of the Chennai Traffic Police and the active involvement of citizens in promoting road safety exemplify a commendable approach towards creating safer road environments. Through sustained awareness campaigns and innovative initiatives like ‘Neenga Road Raja Va?’, Chennai is paving the way for a more responsible and conscientious approach to road travel. Let’s all play our part in making Chennai’s roads safer for everyone.

One of my most formative memories is from when I was about three, staying with a babysitter, when the family dog who was big and mean and knocked me down all the time, ripped apart one of my favorite toys to pieces -- I think it was a stuffed Elmo doll.
It's been a very formative fear of mine, mostly from childhood. We had neighbors when I was little with big (mean) dogs who roamed this giant pen, big Labradors that would see my most beloved toy, Raja, and demolish her in an instant if they got the chance. I also had a penchant for bringing Raja absolutely everywhere with me. There was a lot of, stuffing her in my pockets/sleeves to avoid dogs intercepting her.
A note about Raja. I got her when I was eight years old on Christmas morning. The night before, Christmas Eve, in an effort to prove to myself whether or not Santa was real (I was eight), mentioned to my mother that the one thing I really wanted most of all was a toy white tiger.
And then I went to bed, tossing and turning and anticipating Santa, before finally falling asleep and, at three am because I was very hyper for Christmas and could never make it through the night, I went downstairs and decided to turn left at the stairs and check the stockings by the fireplace first, where, there in my stocking sticking out, blue eyes shiny and new, was Raja. The "note left from Santa" gave me her name and she quickly became my most favorite, most prized, most beloved possession. What can I say, I'm a toy person. I blog about American Girl. This should come as no surprise to any of you.
So it feels so bitter that in my "adult" years, long after I've stopped bringing Raja every single place I go, leaving her on my bed most days, long after the worries of a dog attacking her have gone -- my mom's new dog mauls her. And he tore out one of her eyes, and her nose. Her muzzle has notable damage.
Over the years, Raja has been loved. This is a photo of her a few years ago, and her whiskers are bent and her eyes and nose are dinged in spots and she's lost stuffing in the middle, but she's still in one piece. It wounds my inner child so badly to see holes where her eyes and nose are, it hurts me to think of the pain I immediately felt when I walked around the corner to the sound of Oscar whining and saw the horror of her being in his mouth, him growling at me as I snatched her away from him. I just saw the damage and cried loudly for a while.
I'm just... I've just been cuddling her close ever since it happened because it just, hurts. My mood is just bad because of it right now. I'm angry at myself that I didn't prevent this somehow, didn't stop Oscar from doing this to my most beloved possession. When I didn't have any friends, I had Raja, always at my side, "wiping" my tears away (me holding her paw to soak my tears up) after a bad day at school. To see her treated this roughly, even if it's by a dog who didn't mean anything by it... it breaks my heart. It really breaks my heart.
My father is taking one for the team and paying to have her get fixed, so that will happen, but I'm just nervous about trusting the US postal system now and, being without her, honestly. She's gone away with me to college. To mental hospitals. When I've had no one with me I've had Raja. She's my comfort. My security. She is my most beloved... thing. There's nothing more important than her. If I could drive her across the country to get fixed myself, I'd do it.
#gravel talks#idk I know I have toy people following me which is why I'm not posting a photo of the damage#bc it breaks MY heart idk about y'alls#so like ask to tag if you don't wanna see this post I guess idk I'm just. this is my blog and I'm whining on my blog bc I can#that's the point

Troy: 2022 Cure Bowl Champions
ORLANDO – When Troy needed its defense the most, one of the best units in the country stepped up as it had done all season and stuffed UTSA four times from the 5-yard line as No. 23 Troy defeated No. 22 UTSA, 18-12, in the Duluth Trading Cure Bowl on Saturday at Experia Stadium.
Troy (12-2) took the six-point lead on a Brooks Buce 27-yard field goal with just over nine minutes to play in the game, but UTSA (11-3) found itself on the Trojan 5-yard line just four plays later following a 53-yard run by Kevorian Barnes.
The Trojans held Barnes to two yards on first down, and the Troy defense forced three straight incompletions from C-USA MVP Frank Harris to turn the Roadrunners over on downs. Troy's offense milked more than four minutes off the clock on the ensuing possession, and the Trojan defense yielded just one first down before again forcing UTSA to turn the ball over on downs and end the game.
Richard Jibunor forced a pair of turnovers, and game MVP KJ Robertson returned an interception 61 yards to pace a Troy defense that forced five UTSA turnovers in the game and shut down one of the nation's most prolific offenses.
The win was Troy's 11th straight dating back to a Hail Mary loss at App State in week three, while the Trojans' 12th win of the season is a new FBS record for the program and ties the school record set by the NCAA Division II National Champion team in 1987 and the 1993 FCS squad.
The 12 points scored by the Roadrunners were their fewest since Oct. 2020, and the loss snapped UTSA's 10-game winning streak. It was Troy's first win over a ranked opponent since defeating No. 22 LSU in 2017.
UTSA scored the game's first 12 points on a safety, a 2-yard touchdown pass and a 42-yard field goal within the first 21 minutes. From that point on, Troy's defense held the Roadrunners scoreless and forced the five turnovers.
Kimani Vidal put the Trojans on the board with a 2-yard run in the final seconds of an opening half that saw Troy muster just 66 yards of total offense, mainly due to poor starting field position; the Trojans started four drives inside their own 8-yard line.
Robertson turned the game on a dime with his fourth career interception. Leading by five and driving late in the third quarter, UTSA faced a 3rd-and-8 from the Troy 9-yard line when Robertson picked off Harris and returned it 61 yards to the UTSA 37-yard line and an unsportsmanlike penalty moved the ball to the 22-yard line.
Five plays later, Gunnar Watson connected with RaJae' Johnson on a 12-yard strike to put the Trojans in front 13-12; Watson followed with a successful 2-point conversion pass to Clayton Ollendieck extending the Troy lead out to three with 2:34 to play in the third quarter.
The game marked the final one for All-American Carlton Martial in a Troy uniform, and he went out in style. One day after receiving a Senior Bowl invite, Martial posted a game-high 14 tackles as he set the Troy career record with 577 tackles; Martial had previously set the NCAA FBS and Sun Belt career records.
Quotable "One thing I really wanted – win, lose or draw – was for my daughter to see me play one time," said Robertson, whose two-year-old daughter Layla Drew Hooper was in the stands. "If she remembers it or not, I loved it. It was the best feeling in the world. I really don't know how to even explain it. She was born during COVID, so I didn't want her at the games. Things happened and she wasn't able to make it to any games even after that."
"The turnovers were timely, and we were fortunate enough to get 'em. If we don't get them or those stops, we don't win," Troy head coach Jon Sumrall said. "To hold those guys to 12 points, I don't know what to say. We stayed together all year, and I could not be more proud. I just hope they keep us in the Top 25."
Notable
Troy extended its winning streak to 11 games with the victory, Troy's longest winning streak since 1995 when that squad also won 11 straight games. Troy's winning streak is tied for the third longest in the country.
Troy has now won 58 games since the start of the 2016 season; the 18th most wins nationally and the sixth most in the Group of Five over that time.
Troy has now won five straight bowl games dating back to the 2010 New Orleans Bowl. The Trojans are 6-3 all-time in bowl games at the FBS level and 20-12 in the postseason (NAIA, DII, FCS, FBS).
Troy's 12 wins are the most in program history at the FBS level and tied for the most in school history (1993, FCS; 1987 DII National Champions).
Troy improves to 3-28 all-time against ranked opponents -- No. 17 Missouri, 2004 (24-14); No. 22 LSU, 2017 (24-21); No. 22 UTSA (18-12).
Linebacker KJ Robertson was named the game's MVP after recording nine tackles and returning an interception 61 yards setting up Troy's go-ahead touchdown in the third quarter. He is the second defensive player to earn the Cure Bowl MVP in the history of the game.
Left tackle Austin Stidham started his 62nd career game, which is the most in Troy history passing Cameron Kaye's 61 career starts; Dell Pettus' started his team-leading 47th straight game.
Troy improved to 5-1 this season when trailing at the half and 5-1 when scoring less than 21 points; Troy was 11-73 when trailing at the half and 5-52 when scoring less than 21 points since 2005 prior to this season.
Troy outscored UTSA 11-0 in the second half; the Trojans entered the game ranked 12th nationally with a +6.69 scoring margin in the second half.
RaJae' Johnson caught two passes for 41 yards and the go-ahead touchdown in the third quarter. He caught four of his seven touchdown passes on the season in Troy's final three games.
Troy's 169 yards of total offense was its fewest in a bowl game in program history; previous low was 292 in the 2004 Silicon Valley Classic vs. Northern Illinois.
Carlton Martial recorded 14 tackles in the game and finished his career with 577; Martial set the Troy school record in the game and already held the NCAA FBS and Sun Belt career records.
Troy forced five UTSA turnovers in the game, which is the fourth time in Troy's bowl history it has forced five turnovers in a game.

"Yeah, you and the entire pack apparently," She muttered under her breath, knowing that Nico hadn't been home for more than a few minutes at a time in days. "No. It doesn't," She admitted. Her voice softening as she gave him a sympathetic shrug. "But doesn't mean there isn't a pattern to it either," She pointed out. "And as hopeless as it might seem, focusing on the details helps, doesn't it? At least with the stir craziness." At least for her anyway. As selfish as it might seem, she needed this. She needed to throw herself into the search and the clues, because if not, then what? She was some helpless wife waiting for her husband to come home and the missing people to show up while she lead a bunch of drunkards around on some bar crawl and communed with ghosts on some Halloween tour? She couldn't do it. She couldn't stay put or she'd drive herself insane. At least, following a trail of clues, no matter the dead ends, made her feel at least somewhat useless. Gave her hope that they'd actually be able to find them.
"She heard what?" Jas' head lifted. Her eyes widening at the new tidbit of information. Her hands already instinctively moved to her side to fish her notebook out of her bag so that she could jot this new tip down. "I definitely wouldn't disregard it. I mean for one thing, it means she's still a-" She cut herself off before she said the word 'alive' out loud, realizing that the implication that she could not be might not go over too well. She didn't know what was going on with JC and the Clan Leader exactly, not that it was any of her business regardless, but they did seem rather close during the Campfire retreat, so she could only assume this might be a sensitive subject. "Didn't she change her name back to Surya-Raja recently? Unless, whoever took them knew her as Moore? But, why go after M names? Though it is a weird coincidence if not a patten. Though, okay. You know Meena probably more than most. So, if you were in her shoes and she had a limited chance to reach out, what do you think she'd try to say? I mean we know whoever took them have been preventing telepathic communication and blocking their location somehow. So, if you only had what might be one shot, what would you do?"
"Oh, um, I know..." Jas pressed her lips together, glancing a tad too quick away at the mention of the Moore Manor being gigantic. A fact she now knew rather well from having snuck around the property after the police had left with Saleem. "Not stupid. Actually, it's pretty smart? I mean there is probably plenty of areas in the house that could be used that the authorities would not be privy do. But, that still doesn't explain how the ring would be left behind. I mean if she was still at the house, why didn't she take it with her? And if whoever took her got the upper hand and took it from her, why leave it in the front foyer? Why not dispose of it where no one could find it?"
"Oh," Her eyes widened once more as she watched JC's entire demeanor change. She could practically see the gears turning behind his hardened gaze as if debating whether or not he could trust her. "Nico and I aren't even really talking right now?" She admitted quietly. "It's a long story, but it's not exactly my place to be bringing anything up with anyone at the moment. What I mean to say is, it's safe with me. I promise. I won't put it in the podcast or anything, but yeah. I'm investigating. I, uh," She scrunched up the bridge of her nose as she found herself explaining. "I used to be an investigative journalist before coming here, which didn't exactly make the most sense of a profession to keep in a small town. Covering the high school soccer games wasn't really my thing. But, now, I, um, I've started this podcast and I, uh, I'm just really trying to get to the bottom of things. Same as you. Though, um, huh," She pressed her lips together as she mulled the further lead around in her head. "Yeah, I do. The way I see it, there are three possibilities that immediately come to mind? Either, A, it was taken by force. They could have knocked her unconscious and then rid her of the daylight ring as a precaution if she were to wake up. She was taken in broad daylight, though it was nearing dusk. So, the sunsetting does sort of defeat the purpose of removing it to begin with, but maybe they weren't too smart and left a paper trail or B, it might have slipped off during the struggle. But, how old is Meena again? Wouldn't a seasoned vampire know how to fight without their ring falling off? Especially when considering she's the Clan Leader at that. Or C, she knew they had gotten the upper hand and knew other people who know what it meant, so she left her own paper trail. A sure fire way of letting those who know her know that she had been taken against her will rather than having left town in a hurry? I don't know. They're just theories, but it's something at least, right?"
"I... I don't know? But, I also wouldn't right out them being not connected either. I mean what was it Lori said in the end? That this was only the beginning? What if this was her fall back plan all long. A failsafe or last hoorah on her way out as sick as that sounds? I am sorry though," She added on after a prolonged breath. "About both of them. But, I also, um, I know you and Meena were close and I don't know what was going on, nor is it any of my business, but if it was Nico, I'd be tearing the whole town down by now, so I don't really know how you're doing it, I guess?" She admitted quietly, followed by another small shrug. "Okay, yeah. Yeah that's smart. Lead the way?"
Crossing his arms, JC gave a gruff nod. "Yeah, I know. I've been sniffing around." This remark came as a strange, mostly humorless joke, but he really had been exploring Lunar Cove on all-fours these past few days, hoping to catch some stray hint of Dhruv on the link or to allow his heightened senses to guide him. Thus far, he had enjoyed no luck. And with nothing left to say, Júlio César simply sighed, eyes trailing to the distance as he listened to Jasmine speak. "Why anything? I've given up trying to make sense of this goddamn town. It never ends, does it?" He sniffed. What do they all have in common? What do they all have in common? That same question had spiraled around his own mind as he clawed fruitlessly for some kind of answer for days now, ceaseless and sleepless. "Mahir. Miller. Mehta. Meena..." He trailed off, something playing across his face. That Council meeting had not gone well, and he hardly wanted to dwell on it. But allowing his thoughts to turn back to it, to his own ill-timed, frustrated quip, JC found his jaw tightening.
"Aaliyah got an 'M' from Meena. A hint. A clue. I don't know. I thought it was useless to try to decipher it, but...Mahir, Miller, Mehta and...it fits, doesn't it?" He swallowed. "And it leaves Meena herself as...Moore. Moore Manor. M, M, M." He knit his brow. "Meena wouldn't leave home without her ring. Not willingly. Are we sure she...did leave it? That house is gigantic. There are probably areas no one even knows about. Rooms no one uses. Hell, secret passages. How hard did they search it? That's stupid, right?"
He was rambling a bit, but after a beat, he seemed to harden. "Meena's fucking brilliant. I mean, I wouldn't put it past her to leave something behind." He pursed his lips. "The ring, though? She...." JC swallowed. "Look, our last Council meeting...it went badly. I shouldn't have, but I held something back because...." Late night whispers were not his to share. "It doesn't matter. But I haven't even mentioned it to Nico. But...you're investigating, right? Making more progress than any of us? Meena's ring belonged to her father. He passed away when she was very young. It means too much for her to just leave around." His thoughts turned to his own father, to the conversation he promised to have surrounding his mother's magical history. "Do you think it means something?"
JC crossed his arms. "I don't know more than that. It just...I'm just...we just solved the Catalyst problem. Why is something else happening? Why can't we catch a goddamn break?" He grit his teeth. "I'll go with you. If you want help knocking on every door. I mean, everything is recorded now. We could try near the roads in and out too. A van would have had to drive in, right? We could maybe find out if and when it entered town limits."

Someday I’ll See You Again
A Dragon Raja fan fiction by N.S.K.
Announcement: So I finally posted the first chapter (which sat in my queue forever), which I'm sorry to say it's just that part where Black Swan Bay is destroyed. Didn't mean to put y'all through that again but it's vital to the story. I am trying to be a little more accurate to the DR lore but some characters will be somewhat OOC and events modified to drive the plot in the direction I had originally planned back in 2020 (I know, it took me forever to finally figure out where I'm taking this story😂). Some aspects of this fan fiction will be based around both the novels and the game, but mostly the game. The quality of the writing will vary depending on my health and school work, but I will do the best I am capable of (even if the work isn’t technically my ‘best’, I’ll write what I can). Please enjoy and feel free to give me any feedback at any time <3
Chapter 1: Iced
The silence of the cold Siberian air was cut with the crackle of gun fire and the shouts of soldiers. The snowy forest and orphanage were set ablaze while explosions boomed everywhere. Smoke filled the air as the screams of the orphans echoed through the night. They were the brothers and sisters of 18-year-old River. River frantically looked around, her breathing shallow and eyes wide with fear. Black Swan Bay, the only place she called home, was in peril and there wasn’t much she could do to save it. Her wavy black hair stuck to her cheeks and her tawny skin shined with sweat from the panic. Her lavender eyes searched amongst the chaos for her best friend, Renata, but instead spotted Vera, screaming for help.
The young girl, no older than 10 years old, ran towards River with an arm stretched out for her. Vera was instantly shot down by a soldier and dropped to the ground. The chocolate bar that River gifted to her earlier, flew out of her other hand. River gasped as her heart sank to her stomach and she felt her blood suddenly boil. An ancient power within her awakened. She let out an inhuman screech, emitting golden rays from her body as brown reptilian scales appeared on her arms and legs. River’s veins filled with rage, and she unleashed the power within them onto the soldiers who killed Vera.
No machine gun nor flamethrower could stop her. Zipping through the spaces between the soldiers, she took out a whole squad in a matter of seconds. Afterwards, her body returned to normal and she tried to catch her breath. River’s knees became wobbly and she wanted to collapse, but she had to continue her search for Renata. They’ve been through so much and they dreamed of traveling the world together. River momentarily closed her eyes and deeply inhaled. I need to find her, she thought to herself. She exhaled and ran off into the distance where more soldiers were trudging near the lighthouse on the cliff.
“The boss said to burn it all to the ground!” shouted one soldier in Russian. “Leave no witnesses.” River tried to hide amongst the bushes. Suddenly, she saw Renata fighting off swarms of soldiers. The thin and frail 14-year-old girl with large blue eyes, pale skin, and blonde hair, used her powers to push the soldiers back and tear them apart like paper. River calls out to her and jumps to her aid. Back-to-back, they fended off the soldiers together, trying their best to stay alive and protect their home. River was soon surrounded and a soldier shot her in the leg forcing her to kneel. Renata’s blood boiled and her eyes turned golden. With her powers she emitted a shockwave, wiping out a few of the soldiers and breaking apart their weapons.
Renata then telekinetically assembled a gatling gun from those pieces, and used it on the remaining soldiers. She kept on shooting but more squads just kept coming. In the distance, coming out from the shadows, a figure drew his gun. It was KGB officer, major Bondarev. His short golden hair glistened in the moonlight while the creases of his dark grey military uniform gently whirled in the snowy breeze. His turquoise eyes stared down the barrel of his handgun. Bondarev never misses his target, but this night, his streak ended.
His line of sight was set on River. Her eyes met his and she froze with fear. Bondarev hesitated for a few seconds. Those eyes…, he thought to himself. Where has he seen those eyes before? He quickly snapped out of his thoughts, returning focus on his mission. His finger tugged on the trigger, firing a bullet straight at River. Renata, having caught glimpse of him, intercepted the bullet, taking it into her chest.
“Renata!” River cried out in anguish. Bondarev and the soldiers began to close in. To their surprise, Renata was still alive, crawling and reaching out for River. Her eyes watered as the friends sat over the cliff’s edge holding each other. With great sorrow she whispered to River.
“Live…” she said. “You have to live...” She suddenly pushed River off the cliff and fully collapsed, praying her friend survives. Bondarev approached Renata while she lied still in the snow; eyes devoid of the light they once had…She was gone.
Bondarev spoke into the radio with a deep voice. “It’s done. That’s the last of them.” He walked away, heading back to the ship.
Before falling into the sea below, River rested her hand on her chest and clenched her golden fox pendant. She swore to avenge Renata and the orphans of Black Swan Bay. She swore to put an end to that monster, Bondarev. Her body pierced the ocean surface. The icy water swallowed her into its depths, as the coldness shocked her body. She sank further and further as she spotted the giant silhouette of a winged creature, swooping from the sky above. River’s eyes became heavy and her breath escaped her in the form of bubbles that were desperate to rise to the surface. The darkness and silence of the ocean depths blinded her senses. She blacked out…….
…
The voice of a young girl faintly echoed. “Do you think she’ll be okay?” the girl asked.
“We’ll find out,” an elderly man replied. “We will run more tests once she wakes up.”
