Braves Sweep Twins.
Braves 5 Twins 1 W-Sale (15-3) L-Festa (2-4)
The Minnesota Twins have gotten into a slump having lost seven of their past nine games. They looked to avoid a sweep on a beautiful night at Target Field. The Braves were ready early as Jorge Soler crushed a David Festa fastball out to left in the first for a solo homer. Atlanta took a one-run lead before Minnesota grabbed a bat. Chris Sale and David Festa dueled it out and the Twins offense finally came alive in the sixth. Ryan Jeffers and Jose Miranda ignited a rally with singles. Willi Castro singled home a run to tie the game at one after six frames. The Braves would answer in the seventh when Marcell Ozuna led-off with a walk. Matt Olson greeted Caleb Thielbar with a run-scoring double. Ramon Laureano hit an RBI single to right and Orlando Arcia reached on an infield single. Later in the inning, Luke Williams doubled home a pair and the Atlanta lead grew to four. Chris Sale finished off six solid innings and the Braves bullpen did the best. Luke Jackson and Joe Jimenez bridged the gap to Raisel Iglesias, who threw a scoreless ninth. The Braves capped off a sweep of the Twins this week.
-Final Thoughts- David Festa had his best start in the big leagues. He went six-plus innings and allowed two runs on two hits with seven strikeouts and a walk. Caleb Thielbar retired one man and gave up two runs, Jorge Alcala allowed a run before getting out of the seventh, and Michael Tonkin struck out the side in the eighth. Ronny Henriquez had a scoreless ninth. Manny Margot and Ryan Jeffers had two hits each. The Twins hit 2-for-8 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. The Twins activated Michael Tonkin and optioned Caleb Boushley to St. Paul. The team gets a much-needed day off tomorrow before the Blue Jays come to town. Kevin Gausman will face Pablo Lopez in a rematch of Game 1 of the American League Wild-Card Series last year.

SALIERON BRAVOS

Raisel Iglesias, you are perfect and I never doubted you
If the Braves bullpen could NOT insist on making the game interesting in the bottom of the 9th, that would be great. Cool thanks guys
#to be fair it was all the guy who pitched before iggy#iggy wasn’t the one who gave up two runs and let two more guys get on base with two outs#all iggy had to do was come in and get the batter to ground out to Orlando#what? like it’s hard?#love my teammmmm

Atlanta Braves-Minnesota Twins Series Preview
8.26.24-Max Fried LHP (7-7) 3.57 ERA Vs. Bailey Ober RHP (12-5) 3.54 ERA
8.27.24-Spencer Schwellenbach RHP (5-6) 3.94 ERA Vs. Simeon Woods Richardson RHP (5-3) 3.69 ERA
8.28.24-Chris Sale LHP (14-3) 2.62 ERA Vs. David Festa RHP (2-3) 5.20 ERA
The Braves At A Glance- The Atlanta Braves have been an interesting team in 2024. They got off to a hot start with a (19-9) record in April and are roughly around the .500 mark since. The Braves still hold the final National League Wild-Card spot. The Braves got the band back together by trading for Luke Jackson and Jorge Soler, who helped them win the World Series in 2021. The team also had Eddie Rosario at Gwinnett before he was released. Atlanta has picked up Whit Merrifield and Gio Urshela to try to go on a late run. Urshela has hit .333 in five games with the Braves. Marcell Ozuna is having a great yaer with thirty-seven homers and ninety-four RBI. The Braves starting staff has a 3.89 ERA, which is ninth-best in baseball. Chris Sale is having a resurgent year with a 191 strikeouts over 147 2/3 innings. Reynaldo Lopez has been great since he became a starter again. Their bullpen is even better with a 3.22 ERA, which is second baseball in MLB. Raisel Iglesias has given up eight runs over 51 2/3 innings of work. Dylan Lee's been great from the left side and Joe Jimenez and Jesse Chavez have been good right-handed options.
The Twins At A Glance- The Twins lost a pair of tough games to the Cardinals, but the Royals remain tied with them for second place. Both teams sit three games back of the Indians for first place. The Twins keep getting bad injury news. Carlos Correa is not returning soon because he hasn't been able to run with spikes on or at full speed. Alex Kirilloff had his back flare up for him during his rehab assignment and won't be playing in games soon. Byron Buxton is making slow progress back from a hip injury. Max Kepler was scratched from Sunday's game with left knee soreness. Brooks Lee has picked up four hits and knocked in three in two games for the Saints on a rehab assignment. Zebby Matthews, David Festa, and Simeon Woods Richardson continue to do just enough for the rotation. Griffin Jax has thrown thirteen straight scoreless innings.
What To Watch For- The Braves are (17-12) all-time against the Twins. The Braves swept all three games from the Twins last June in Atlanta. The Twins have lost five straight games to the Braves. The last Twins win wsa on August 5, 2019 when Miguel Sano hit a walk-off homer off Chris Martin. Max Fried threw 5 1/3 shutout innings in his lone start against the Twins. Bailey Ober, Simeon Woods Richardson, and David Festa have never faced the Braves. Chris Sale is (11-6) with a 3.81 ERA in thirty games against the Twins. Carlos Santana is hitting .311 with two homers and twelve RBI off Sale in his career. The Twins get another series against a team in the playoff hunt.
