Reversed Karma AU

A Rainworld Alternate Universe.

...

 The.. triple affirmative has been found- the affirmative that a ..solution has been found, the affirmative that the..solution is portable, and the affirmative that technical implementation is possible and generally applicable.

I remember that cycle... ancients swarmed the stuff, only privilege given to the founder, Sliver of Straw, was leaving us first.

And then cycle by cycle, our parents left..

Spoilered for absurd about of text, and general spoilers.

Saint never wanted to ascend anything. And by the time every last ancient was dead and gone, cycles passed, and structures fell. The green fuzzy thing was not once fuzzy, growing a coat as the rain sent by iterators stopped.

- - So it trailed along, guilty for what was not its fault, bringing iterators to life again. With a new name, [Pilgrim].

-- Footnote : Karma needs are reversed with the Pilgrim. Dying will up their karma, surviving will lower it. Secret passages will be added to cross gates you cannot with low karma, as it is needed to progress. =======================================

Rivulet is an odd case. I wanted them to obviously give rarefaction cells, as they did to Moon originally. So the tale goes they were created by a rebellious, younger Ancient who was fond of life and the cycle. One who refused the common ideals.

-- The swift little mouse they created, was given their own ability to create low-density rarefaction cells (singularity bombs) and refine them into more high-quality cells which the Ancient learned themself.

-- As soon as the news was spread to the general public of the triple affirmative, they sent the [Technician] out into the world, wearing several pearls describing their mission. ===========

Monk and Survivor lived with their colony, and were sent to scout a new home for the colony by the [Mapmaker]. They are named [Guard] and [Scout] in Reversed Karma. They brought Scout's two slugpups with them, even if the journey was dangerous, finding a new home for Scout pups was important to both Scout and their Sibling.

-- They find the tree in journey's end, Guard staying with the pups there as Scout tells the rest of the colony, including the leader, Mapmaker.

-- Footnote: Monk still brings Moon her cloak and several pearls. =========================================

The [Mapmaker] replaces Gourmand in Reversed Karma, making a map for their colony to follow. They are the leader of their colony.

-- Very similar to vanilla, leaving current living to the tree, showing the colony to the new home.

-- Footnote : Rain is beginning to return to normal, without cold mechanic. =====================================

The [Traveler] replaces Hunter in Reversed Karma, created by Five Pebbles to check on the local group. They spawn in the grounds of Unparralled Innocence. They do not have the Rot due to Five Pebbles more careful creation of a purposed organism compared to No Significant Harrassment.

The [Mother] replaces Artificer in Reversed Karma. Their slugpups are both alive, with the same explosive quality. They give Pebbles back his cloak and become a citizen after Sofanthiel locks onto them.

-- Footnote : Mother has bad reputation with scavengers due to passing tolls without payment before the campaign. They get a backspear due to one less hand slot having two pups.

-- Footnote : Rain has returned to normal.

-- Footnote : Mother has reduced food needs compared to vanilla Artificer due to needing to feed their pups. ===============

The [Messenger] replaces Spearmaster in Reversed Karma. They were created by Seven Red Suns to send messages between them and their friends, similar to [Traveler]'s check-ins with other iterators.

A note from the OP: I hope you like them.. I've been wanting to show them off for a while. One of my headcannons for iterators was that the natural urges are coded into them with anti-ascension stuff. Like. Make ascension for us, but not for you. This is why they were wildly unsuccessful in finding the triple affirmative. Also.. Hello! Welcome to @vo1dsea’s Rainworld ask blog, the AU’s name is ‘Shaded cycle’ everything is dark, so basically like shaded citadel everywhere, an eternal night and creatures are adapted to the darkness, of course all creatures that would live in shaded have stayed the same, but everything else has gotten special adaptations to survive in the different environment. Many of the slugcat designs are based off of nocturnal animals.

The iterators are scugs btw, just because thats what i want, none of them have proper refs as of typing this, but currently they are available for asks, only the main 4 tho (FP,LTTM,NSH,SRS)

Do you have any rainworld headcanons? if so, what are they?

Oh my! this is gonna be a long answer!

My head cannons really depend on the AU, So I do hope you don't mind reading, I'm just gonna do the AU I'm working on now! (+Only slugcats for now)

A Journey ahead AU:

Survivor (16) is the older sibling of Monk (10), they both got separated from their colony and then from each other. They never knew their true parents as they were found and raised by gourmand a long with a lot of other slug-pups that were not related with gourmand. Survivor was found my Artificer when they reached Five Pebbles (5p) and was shown how to fight by her and practically adopted by Arti and Inv. Survivor then ended up finding Monk when Hunter came to visit Artificer and brought Monk along which he found a few weeks before hand. Survivor and Monk found their way back to the slug tree to only find no one there and now live there alone. Survivor also has learned how to grow his own food and takes care of Monk technically alone. He HATES cussing, will wash his own mouth out if HE cusses. He does end up dating Rivulet later on.

Monk used to be friends with everything, or tried to be, but one time she tried to befriend a lizard and it tried killing her, and how of fear and instincts she attacked it and killed it, making her realize she can't be friends with everything and everyone. Hunter found her and she almost attacked him, but with giving food and taking care of her for a few days she grew to trust him. Following him to 5p to meet Artificer she reunited with her brother and they went back to the slug tree. She does not really remember anything about gourmand or the rest of the old colony, she doesn't really care either.

Hunter and Spearmaster are of course iterator made slugcats. Hunter made by NSH and Spearmaster by SRS. They both end up falling in love and getting together until Hunter goes rot mode and loses his ability to think for himself and loses all control of life.

Hunter is a normally chill guy, but for fun and if he doesn't have anything to do he will go and find other slugcats, mainly female, and... you know, to only leave them, who knows how many pups he has out there. He doesn't realize his wrong doing until Artificer talks to him, and starts to help him change, for multiple different reasons other then just the... uh things mentioned earlier. Hunter then slowly starts to realize himself more and comes out and trans fem and starts to date Spearmaster. He called Monk little Lemon and monk thinks of him as a dad type figure. He is the mentor for Monk.

Spearmaster doesn't really have a gender of course, but do go by they/them and doesn't mind he/him. He started dating Hunter after realizing he has truly changed. After hunter becomes rot Spearmaster visits him every day and sometimes brings him stuff, even though rot hunter does normally just consume them. Spearmaster is friends with Artificer and sometimes even gets a slight feeling of knowing her in the past.

Artificer's story is literally the same, but after defeating the scav king she takes the role of scav queen and starts to become softer. while venturing garbage wastes, hoping to maybe find any trace of her past pups, she find Inv and takes care of him. After a bit they get together and start a family together, having around five pups, non of them biologically Artificers as they came from Inv's egg things.

Blue pup (Marbles) was able to survive the spear hit, being taken care of and healed by a kind scav mother who had two kids of her own. They were raised with these scav pups and by this scav mother until one day everyone disappeared. Not a trace of the scavengers were around. Marbles then started to venture on their own, later on finding her sibling and rivulet and then reuniting with their mother. In the end they do end up leaving anyways and starting their own family in the future.

Green pup (Seaglass) is the sibling of Marbles, they are non-binary. Seaglass was able to survive being drowned by the leeches because of a current pipe that took them away. They ended up getting to a dried off land area in the piping systems, right before the rain was about to start. The pup version of Rivulet ends up finding them and drags their unconscious body to a den and saving them. They end up raising themselves together and clarifying each other as siblings. One day while Seaglass was getting some fruit, a green thing snatched them and took them far away from Rivulet, this was Saint. Saint threatened them, trained them, and taught them the ways of the Ancients and the Echoes, making them a little Saint. Seaglass was then forced to get full karma and right before being forced to ascend Rivulet found them and pushed Saint down into Rubicon, making him the Echo he is now. Rivulet and Seaglass find Marbles and soon end up finding Artificer as well. Just like Marbles, Seaglass also leaves to start their own life while Rivulet goes with survivor and monk back to the slug tree.

Gourmand is a old guy who would take care of any pups he found on his adventures and take them back to the slug tree with him. He took care of survivor, monk, and my nightcat. When Survivor and Monk got separated gourmand did try to look for them with no luck and ended up leaving them behind. They went to a area that I call "The Otherside"

And they settled there. Only after a few days they got attacked and almost all the pups ended up dead. Gourmand found the last two together hiding under some fallen rocks and started taking care of them again, taking them away from the area. He now only wanders and never settles in a specific area.

Bubble (Green pup) was found alone and a newborn in a den alone, he was taken care of by the entire colony and made friends easily. He does not remember or care for where his actual parents are or who they are. Bubble ends up clarifying Daffy as their sibling once they got attacked at the New Camp and gourmand finds them alone. Bubbles favorite food is Bubble fruit.

Daffodil [Daffy] (Purple pup) was found in a lizard den, really hurt and almost dead. Gourmand killed the lizards that tried eating them and took them back to the slug tree where they were nursed back to health. Daffy is a nervous pup and didn't make friends easily, but Bubble somehow was able to break their bubble! When they got attacked Daffy refused to leave Bubbles side and was really attached, scared to be left alone. Their favorite food is baby centipedes surprisingly but they are too scared to eat them alive.

Rivulet was left alone as a child and doesn't remember his parents. He found and helped Seaglass back to health in the piping systems. after Seaglass disappeared they instantly went looking for them, sometimes going into the end of the cycle. When they finally found Seaglass and Saint they had so much built up sadness and rage that they threw Saint into Rubicon and made him become a Echo technically. Seaglass and Rivulet are both now terrified of Saint coming back and fear to even say his name. WAY later in the future Saint finds Rivulet and takes him hostage, doing the same treatments Saint did to Seaglass. Rivulet ends up being forced to Ascend and ends up succeeding. No one ends up finding out what happened to Rivulet, but Rivulet does end up having a child with survivor before this though.

Saint has an unknown origin, no one can get him to talk to them unless it's for teachings, he was not created by SS, he just killed them like how he does with Moon and Pebbles. He always has had his ascension powers. He ends up becoming an Echo when Rivulet pushes him into Rubicon and then he comes back, to continue his plans.

My Rainworld AU Slugcats

Survivor: Late teens. A fairly normal slugcat with a bit of an ego. He's Artificer's firstborn and Monk's older brother. Known mainly for being mean to Monk, but also for his ability to, well, survive. No matter what happens or how long he's been gone, he always manages to make it home. Despite how he treats Monk, Survivor will & has killed the largest predators thrown at him to protect his brother. Monk: Preteen. A younger slugcat with separation anxiety after everything he's been through. As Artificer's youngest, he's often seen around either her, Gourmand, or Survivor. Monk gets scared easily and would rather run & hide from threats, but he has been shown to hold his own when push comes to shove. Artificer: Adult. An angry slugcat with little patience for anything besides her wife & kids. Used to be fairly normal, but after the whole thing with the scavs only to discover her kids were fine, she hasn't really been able to calm down. Prone to yelling and threats, unless she's with her family, then she's a lot more laid-back and comfortable. Absolutely refuses to talk about who her former partner was. Gourmand: Adult. A very heavy slugcat with a big heart. Possibly the only thing in the world with enough patience to deal with her wife Artificer and her kids. Her weight doesn't seem to impact her too much, but she does try to mitigate it. Unfortunately, Arti is very keen on pampering her wife and will drag in the largest lizard she can find for Gourmand. Gourmand is also the smartest of the sluggang, being very experienced in most things and having a deep well of knowledge on everything. Hunter: Young adult. A keen, clever killer of a slugcat. He is one of the dedicated hunters of the sluggang, but isn't too reliable. Hunter is a man of his word to a flaw. If he says he'll kill a king vulture, he'll be gone for the next 40 cycles doing just that. Unfortunately, the rot within him is taking its toll. His creator, No Significant Harassment, has been working hard to find a way to fix Hunter after seeing his diseased, barely breathing corpse crawl its way back to him. So far, Hunter just has more time, but not a cure. Spearmaster: Adult. A tall, silent slugcat. The second dedicated hunter of the sluggang, Spearmaster is well respected for their ability to somehow never miss a spear. They are a hemovore, using their spears to suck blood from their prey. Due to not having a mouth, Spearmaster communicates completely through sign language. Only Hunter and Gourmand are fluent enough to completely understand them, though. Spearmaster is very empathetic and shows great worry for everyone he considers their friends. Rivulet: Young adult. A very energetic slugcat. Rivulet suffers from possibly the most severe case of ADHD ever observed. Ask him to do a basic task? It won't get done. This also leads to highs and lows. One day Rivulet will follow you around and won't shut up, the next he'll lock himself in his room and feel awful for annoying you. He doesn't really live with the sluggang, but instead with Looks to the Moon, who actually knows how to handle him. Rivulet is very passionate about things he loves, if you can tolerate him. Saint: Incomprehensibly old, looks like a young adult. A wondering slugcat. Saint would rather be out on her own, but occasionally stays close to the sluggang to "keep and eye on them." Nobody knows where Saint comes from or why she can't just stick around, but she's very kind and even a bit witty when around. Saint does have a very keen interest on Monk's ability to make Karma Flowers, but she's only passing friends with the rest of the sluggang.

alright!

so we have humans on land and monsters in the water.

the monsters each have a unique lifestyle. some are friendly and feed on the magic in the water (water has healing and life giving properties in this world but only monsters can biologically utilize it because they evolved that way.)

some are hunters and predators. some only hunt humans and some fight with other monster tribes or subspecies.

unlike Undertale not all monsters are built with hope. but some (like selkies) are inherently peaceful.

this world has mages and the magic system is based on the power of the moon's gravitational pull. however the sunLIGHT gives life to souls while the moon is the source of magic.

they are NOT opposite forces. a sun or star's light=will=determination.

the moon or any celestial body's pull is magic and it's specially rich in the deep sea because all the magic thingys eventually float down and crystalize down there creating an interesting ecosystem.

one that can allow leviathans to roam underneath continents and bend realty phasing through stone.

the earths core is another source of that same gravitational magic therefore the deeper you go the desnser the magic the more powerful the entity.

there is a reason why magic is dependant on celestial gravity and it has to do with WORLD class giant anomalies that FEED on planets.

then they crumble onto themselves into stars giving birth to countless new potential planets each planet being potentially... an egg or an incubating period for the world devourers.

are all planets destined to die? yes. do they all get devoured by these anomalies? no! in fact most of these guys die as an embryo in the planets core because other wildlife feed on it's magic and thrive so it never hatches!

most planets that are devoid of life usually get devoured. but if the planet houses life it actively weakens the calamity's power. it can either be fully extinguished, or it can somehow "hatch" prematurely.

and that's how crimson is alive. they're supposedly just a WIDDLE baby compared to how much the can grow... but when it comes to experience personality and maturity? they're more like a playful young adult. (their biology isn't sex based they literally reproduce by dying after absorbing a planet so relax. they're ace.)

thing is these guys live as long as the planet (maybe even twice as long depending on the richness of the magic and energy stored in that planet, drifting through space.)

so they're viewpoint on mortality is a bit... different.

as for how crimson is still alive despite being born on a planet full of life?

Well you could say certain meteor crashed down and pierced the shell, causing a mass tectonic plate shift. this was WAAAAY before life on this planet was here so they hatched prematurely when the earth started to cool down and develop a solid ground.

normally they'd be devoured by other creatures as a tiny little thing but the thing is uhm... they are really hard to chew through for a being born in condensed lava and friking void juice.

(yes this world is a little bit like rainworld)

the lil guy just devoured it's way out of the stomach of anything that would eat it.

these guys are technically mature the moment they hatch crimson is just malnourished and extremely small.

(they can manage to grow as big as a whale but they'll unfortunately only life a third the lifespan of the planet 😔 such an early death.)

that isn't to say they can't end the world with themself as they're dying of course.

this is a rw AU called "escapism", escapism AU is about Escaping the mortal world, worlds falling apart, the world phasing into others, the slugcats meet other creatures from other realms and regions, fighting with other worlds, saint going insane from voices in her head,nightcat, enot and some of my OCs from the other worlds team up in a caravan, artificer fighting againts the groups of lizards and creatures and hunter, survivor, monk and two of my other OCs live in a train room in a vultrain [ a train with a vulture head at the end and multiple wings, it can fly ] the snow hardens as a blizzard is coming, rivulet, gourmand and some more OCs including mine live in the structure of the tree tavern, a iterator super structure has fallen onto the only and tallest orb tree near a slash shaped hole in near the tree with cliffs and mountains surounding it, saint starts living in a dark mountain miles away from everyone, hiding in a small base with supplies and some lava in a bucket, she slowly goes more insane as the cycles pass, the timelines shift as most regions with volcanos or close to the core of the earth burns orange as void fluid rises up into the clouds, causing most clouds to shoot out void fluid, burning most grass, the skies darken as most storms come and more cycle failiures come, nightcat can become peoples shadows, hunter has a long neck and is fully corrupted by the turbo cancer, he lost his left arm

Rivulet wears a white scavanger mask and mostly sings alot, gourmand wears a leather backpack, saint wears big fisher boots, spearmaster wears a spearholder saint made for him, artificer wears a cowboy hat, hunter wears a belt with supplies on it, survivor wears a small bandage on his tail, monk wears a small beach hat, enot wears a small bandage around their whole left arm In this AU
