Partnerships are so weird as a system. Like, I am your partner, but also I'm not, but also I don't know if this counts as a separate relationship if I both am and am not the person you're dating. Does it count as cheating if no one knows I'm sort of a separate person?? How am I meant to ask your partner if they're okay with this if I am your partner (but am also not and ahhhh this is so complicated)?? You have to make up your own rules as you go and just hope the way you're winging it works out

Sure! I’ll just tell you about the ones that have been fronting a lot as of late!I’m Elliot (he/they), I’m the host and the king of puns. I front 90% of the time and am usually exhausted. I like reading fanfic, binging series, and drinking more tea than is probably healthy for me. Alec (he/him) is a fictive and he’s a clumsy, awkward, anxious, restless, introverted mess. He really does try but he’s just a hopeless gay that likes to be by himself or with his boyfriend.Magnus (he/they) is another fictive and he’s confident, extra af, sassy, and chatty. He kicks down the door to the inner space every time “Me Too” or “Fashion” plays. He’s always flirting with everyone and uses pet names constantly.Alec and Magnus are dating and they’re gross and in love and have constant PDACody (he/him) is the primary Protector and he’s lowkey an asshole, but a sensitive asshole. He likes to blast music and flip people off. Also, he’s the memelord of the system, he constantly quotes memes and quotes/plays vines.Echo (he/they) is the all-rounder, but mostly the Caretaker and Mediator. This ask is a large mood. We also miss plural-egg-culture-is, and to tie together these two subjects, one of the asks we sent in there happened to be rather like this one. Don't remember the exact wording, but it was something like, "hmm I wonder why I feel like this character in every day life... Must be me roleplaying without realizing I'm doing it!"

Pro tip for what may be a very niche audience of systems with mid level internal communication: if you can only internally communicate when trying to do so and you rarely or never hear surprising, random comments from other headmates that some other systems talk about, that is in fact normal. Internal communication is something that almost always takes time and practice to get better at, so it's not unusual for a system to have difficulty hearing each other and need to actively try to talk to each other to achieve internal communication. Hell, there's a reason that learning internal communication is a part of treatment for systems seeking medical support – because it can be difficult and it's unlikely that you've mastered it right off the bat!

Not hearing your headmates most of the time is okay. Needing to focus on talking to a headmate to internally communicate is okay. If you rarely or never get surprised by someone internally talking to you, that probably just means your internal communication has some barriers, difficulties, or quirks that other systems do not have. That does not mean you're faking; that does not mean you're less of a system. Don't fool yourself otherwise just because you see other systems getting caught off-guard by their headmates talking to them, or overhear each other talking while they're focused on something else, or anything else. They are not you, and your system is going to be different from their system. It's okay if your internal communication is different from other systems.

Tl;dr: Don't trap yourself in self-doubt if your system doesn't have perfect internal communication (including if you have internal communication that's "good enough" for your system but lacks in some areas). Internal communication (and communication skill) varies from system to system, and you don't have to have flawless communication to be a real system.

The circulatory system is so fucking cool y’all like!!! I like learning how it works and also how things can go wrong!! Khan academy has good videos on it!! I wanna get a stethoscope so I can listen to people’s hearts ;;

Lymphatic system is also rlly cool!!!! OH AND OFC THE medicine system...the... no get sick system... immune system!! That’s the word. I’m a dumb and I forget words a lot 😔 I just lov the circulatory system so much !!

I'm afraid our answer may be slightly lackluster, but we commonly refer to our headmates as "the others [in our system]" if we're not specifically referring to them as headmates. We also didn't have much of a "testing the waters" phase as we... Well, we yelled "Cannonball!" and presented her with a PowerPoint on how we were a system and all the system stuff we were willing to share with her as complete facts, so she couldn't deny it or be wishy-washy about it. It's worked pretty well, and she does pay attention when we talk about system stuff sometimes (I think she might be kind of happy that there's now an explanation as to why we tell her we can't remember the answers to most of the questions she asks, lol), but she's not perfect about it and we have to medicalize ourselves a little more than we're comfortable with so as to avoid opening up any boxes we're not ready to talk about yet.

Our therapist is usually accepting of these kinds of things as long as we don't let her brush them off as she sometimes does (we once talked to her about otherkin stuff too and she was okay with that, but on the other hand talking to her is like speaking to a brick wall a lot), but we're planning on what is essentially a bigger and more detailed PowerPoint for others in our lives.
