tho the singing was jarring, it did not sound like them at all.

this could've been a good ep to help explore more about their friendship before RH, esp since how the show started. sigh if only rh cared about their characters....

In complete honesty, I kind of wish that Stranger Things would have just been two high quality seasons. They should have let El die in S1, and then focused on Mike, Will, and the origins of the Upside Down in S2. At this point, the story has been dragged on for so long, and, if S5 fails to recontextualize a lot of things from S3 and S4, there was a lot of unnecessary filler that just weighed the entire show down.

I agree with this pretty heavily. It’s obvious that they dragged storylines out and didn’t have everything completely plotted by how dysfunctional s3 and 4 are in comparison with s1 and 2. It almost feels like two completely different shows. When s3 first aired, I almost didn’t finish it because I hated it that much. S4 was pretty similar tbh… the NINA plotline and the Russian shit was so terrible that me and my sister debated skipping the scenes I’m not even kidding lol. Literally the only thing that kept us watching vol 2 was any crumb of Mike and Will scenes and then seeing what happened with Max. That was fr it. The second we finished vol 2 we immediately turned off the tv and then started shit talking it 😂 we were NOT impressed lol.

The Russian plot was dumb as fuck in s3, and it was even worse in s4. Literally the dumbest thing this show ever tried to pull and comes across as more unbelievable than inter-dimensional monsters lol. Idgaf about the Russian fuckery. It’s fucking stupid as hell and I can feel myself losing braincells in real time whenever I have to rewatch scenes of it. Idgaf about the NINA bullshit, when the hell are we gonna move on from this dumb lab/rainbow room/Papa nonsense and get to shit that really matters?

The whole Russian thing is actually what makes the Hawkins lab and stuff dumb lol bc it went from the American gov being the enemy to now suddenly it’s evil Russians like stfu get out of here with this nonsense I cantttttt

And don’t even get me started on the dumb relationship drama in s3. If I wanted to watch a show about middle schoolers making out I wouldn’t be looking for it in stranger things, that’s first of all. Second of all, none of this has any depth and the only reason it matters in any context is to develop Byler and their rain scene is one of the only memorable scenes of the season. Idgaf about hopper and Joyce acting like 12 year olds. Idgaf about Billy’s wack ass redemption. Idgaf that El raises her hand and screams for the billionth time or that she loses her powers cuz guess what… she gets them back. *pretends to be shocked*

Fr, s5 has to recontextualize multiple seasons or else this show will have been a huge disappointment. S4 was ok. But as I said, that’s all it was. Okay. Not great. Not even necessarily good. Just meh. The only good parts were the Hawkins group with Max (she was the best part of the season) and then Mike and Will’s scenes. That’s literally it lmao. The Russian plot? Dumb. El and the NINA shit? Dumb. Yawn, don’t care. Let me spend time with characters I care about please and thank you.

I long for the return of s2 quality….. when Mike realizes Will is compromised and that he’s the spy and Will sends all those soldiers to their gruesome deaths…. come on that was peak cinema. Bring it back. I miss it…. we were a country once

Victoria and Michelle were my favs from rainbow high s5. Her face and freckles are sooo pretty! She also has body blushing on her joints and stomach!

I hope with the soft reboot coming next year, rainbow high makes more dolls of fan fav characters. Delilah, Victoria, and Jewel would be very nice to see again!

What do you think the most compelling piece of evidence is for elmax endgame?

There's actually a bunch of individual evidence pieces.

Blue hair tie and yellow watch - Blue and Yellow is used to signal love, mostly romantic or strong platonic love, it's not a color combination solely reserved for Byler.

It also connects Max through El with Hopper - that's the platonic element since I believe Hopper might actually be Max's biological father - and through Hopper we have the "Lovergirl" clue, song that "plays in his head" after he finds the girls in El's room.

The Coke bottle: "Until you find something that feels like you". - El finds the Coke bottle under her bed then thinking about Max. In Max's mind it's the Coke bottle pointing to El, pushing away the memory of Lucas (his place isn't the mind but reality). This dialog in the shopping scene also has several meanings that scream ElMax in every way too.

Same with Max able to free herself and attack V: it's the memory of El, the High-fiving that echoes even outside of her memories. This has a parallel with Byler in S2 in which Mike touching Will's hand enables Will to overcome the possession partially use his hand to signal a message.

Then they decided to use a blood stain on El's shirt in a heart shape on the right side of her chest in Vol2, mirroring both Max's heart and both their couple accessories which are a very stable wardrobe choice.

Them wearing Yellow & Red / Mustard and Ketchup which is code for dating someone secretly.

I could point out that Robin's coming out was essentially a proxy monologue describing El's actual, although subconscious feelings the first time she saw Max.

Then the time jump sequence from Back to the Future been used/reproduced in the shopping scene, showing them after the time jump that will happen in S5.

The writers pointing out Korrasami and how the show copies moments of that show.

And of course:

The whole Neverending Story song which is essentially describing certain plot elements of their story. "And there upon a rainbow is the answer to a Neverending Story" - the brilliant kaleidoscope of colors that reappears, is drawn by El repeatedly and is as a light flare on Max's face.

There are other elements like their reunion, the window drawing, El not afraid of the cracking of thunder when she's with Max in opposition to her reaction in S1 without anyone at her side, the "Princess Diana/Wonder Woman comic read" etc etc. all of that are pieces of one big puzzle.

That pretty much sums it up. There's just not THE evidence. There's a lot. But then there's my own intuition: I figured out how they solve the problem they created and after that I understood why and it made me cry....then I knew it's the right thing.

It is as David Harbor said bc he knows what's basically going to happen because he knows Hopper's arc "Quite moving and beautiful"

Everyone understands this just as Byler-proof but completely overlooks that Hopper's story is closely tied to El. (BTW ignoring El in this regard and therefore Max, although there's real evidence in the show that connects them with Hopper is in my opinion pure ignorance.)

But you made me think that I could try to make a complete post about these elements. Although this is kinda of a post itself, I think I better make a separate one.

sorry but the latest rainbow high episode being about a famous designer struggling to come up with designs people don't hate is hilariously ironic. like it's so on the nose i'm almost inclined to believe it was intentional but that would mean putting effort into the writing and it's very obvious they don't do that anymore.

well shadow high s3 stock photos just dropped and since I made a post abt rainbow high s5 when their stock photos came out I may as well make a post for these. generally i love how all the dolls in this series have very different focuses and have very varied accessories and styles to show that

I love microbraids but like. Why is every pink doll other than lola so boring sculpt-wise 💀 generally Id like her outfit if it didn’t feel so hodgepodged together with all the different shades of pink. I like her accessories tho <3

LOVE her sculpt and makeup, she’s kinda boring to me tho. I might end up getting her earrings and hairclips to put on glitch tho

Kinda an unpopular opinion but I actually like her outfit, she’s not a doll I really WANT but I do like her. Her face sculpt is NOT done justice in these stock photos, I’ve seen some in-person pics and It looks way better on the physical doll

Her outfit is EVERYTHING to me I need a skirt that holds CDs so so bad. The glasses are so unbelievably bad but that’s just how accessories are sometimes. I don’t rly like her face sculpt but I haven’t seen any actual photos of her yet so hopefully it looks better in person. I’ll probably end up getting her anyways bc her and zooey are besties in my head and also like I said I’m obsessed with her outfit

Most boy fashion dolls are flops to me (their sculpts and fashion are just always so bad imo lmao????) but everyone seems to be freaking out abt him saying they love him and uh. I think she’s a really solid doll! I think it’s cute that one of her accessories has Teal Girl on it and one of Teal Girl’s accessories has her on it. I think her colors go together well, her styles fun, and her face sculpt is super cute to me. I’ll def get her just to pose her and Teal Girl together <3

I think that this release is mostly alright but it’s lows are REALLY LOW and it’s highs are just like. Kinda above average. Definitely some dolls I’m interested in, definitely some I’m not. Series 2 (and for that matter rh series 5) are a lot better imo but I think rainbow/shadow high is trying rn to balance price with quality and supposedly there gonna be introducing some gimmicks soon so I fear it’s only downhill from here but only time will tell :/
