Tumblr media
Earlier this year I made a post outlining Akari’s Hisui team; I’ve been meaning to do one for her pre-Hisui team as well!
I put some thought into these choices as well, as just like the first team I put together, I appreciate how @tjs-stuffs analyzes different pokemon trainers’ teams to see what it says about them.
Dawn’s Pokemon team choices and reasonings why are listed below.
—————
LADY ♀ | LVL 43 PURUGLY
SASSY NATURE
Akari/Dawn’s “starter”. Dawn did not get a lab-provided starter pokemon as she did not follow that path and begin a journey at ten. So her starter was one of her mom’s pokemon; her (at the time) glameow was her pokemon that Dawn was closest to, and her pokemon most experienced with contests, and so Johanna gave Lady to Dawn as her first pokemon to start doing contests with.
There isn’t anything about the Glameow line that really lends itself to Dawn’s character, but due to the anime I know people are aware that Johanna has a glameow, so I wanted Dawn to have one to cement that connection a little.
—————
BLINK ♀ | LVL 41 LUMINEON
ADAMANT NATURE
As a wild finneon it was familiar with Dawn, friendly with her when she was little, and hung around when she’d play by the ponds near her town. Lucas helped her catch it as she wanted a water pokemon to be with her when starting a team; she was not a strong swimmer. A buizel was suggested for this, but Dawn wanted her childhood friend.
The Lumineon line is noted to attract its prey by lingering in the dark and using its bioluminescence to draw them in, but this very same light will attract its own predators too. This was a characteristic that made me want to put it on her Hisui Team — her “light” is what brought her her opportunities in Hisui, but it was also what caught Volo’s attention and made him turn on her.
In the end Mantine won over Lumineon, but I still wanted Dawn to have one for the similarities, so I put one on her Pre-Hisui team.
—————
CORAL ♀ | LVL 40 GOREBYSS
ADAMANT NATURE
Dawn’s first Pokémon caught outside of Sinnoh, when on a trip to Hoenn with her mom to do her first contest with her. It was beached and needed help. She caught it, and Lucas later traded with her to help it evolve — she went with Gorebyss as she thought it was pretty and would pair very well with Blink in contests.
There is not much about Gorebyss that connects it to Dawn’s character. Rather, I made the pick based on Dawn’s preferences for a Pokemon that might do well and look nice in contests.
—————
SHERBET ♂ | LVL 45 BEARTIC
LAX NATURE
Dawn’s second pokemon that came from outside of Sinnoh, on a trip with her mother to do a musical in Unova. Johanna had actually caught it as a cubchoo when Dawn was very young as she had met and gotten attached to it. It was not much a fan of participating in contests, however. Johanna traded it to Dawn when she began to show an interest in battling, as it was much more invested in battles and wanted to go with her.
While there is not much to connect it to Dawn with, I picked the cubchoo line as I saw that they were a pokemon actually mentioned by name in PLA, despite not actually being present in the game. I liked the PLA connection to a non-PLA pokemon.
Tumblr media
—————
ALLOY | LVL 43 BRONZONG
MODEST NATURE
Dawn’s first pokemon she caught herself after considering turning away from coordinating to be a trainer. Caught as a bronzor, it had been attracted to her location after watching her training attempts in Mt. Coronet’s caves. It was inspired and wanted to join her team to train with her.
I picked the Bronzor line as Bronzong are pokemon noted to have come from ancient times, 2,000 years ago, and were supposedly revered for its powers to open portals from other worlds to bring rain and help crops thrive. I thought it was fitting seeing as Dawn went back around 200 years instead, and came through a “portal” with people believing she had something special about her.
—————
NANO | LVL 27 ROTOM
QUIRKY NATURE
Dawn’s last Pokemon she added to her team. A rotom was a Pokemon she’d wanted for a while — at first for coordinating, due to its ability to change into many different forms, and then for its versatility in battle; it could serve well in both categories — and after training her team up a little more, she went out in search of one. So she tracked it down in the Old Chateau. It took multiple attempts over many nights to catch it.
I picked Rotom for Dawn’s team because a Rotom is one of the most versatile and adaptable pokemon out there, able to switch between many forms with no permanence or final decisions. Dawn is supposed to be someone who can adapt to fit many different situations; it’s how she survives in Hisui. And even before Hisui, she was balancing options as both a trainer and a coordinator — neither option was “set” for her, just like how a rotom’s forms are not set (unlike eevee or milcry; while they also have many different variations, all of them are final and cannot be undone).

Stardust's Ranking of Rain World Custom Regions
It's late and I'm bored and I love mods, and if you can you should try some of them because this community creates some incredible stuff and you better appreciate that.
These regions are loosely ranked with an emphasis on my enjoyment, not necessarily the quality of the region, though those can be linked! I will clarify where necessary. You can use this post as a recommendation list, or you can just read my thoughts and reviews of various custom regions for fun or some shit. I dunno. For some reason I end up making lists a lot.
This post will be updated as I try more mods and as more mods come out. The post is current as of October 14th, 2023. Some regions have additional notes, which are elaborated on under the list. Also note that for the vast majority of these regions, I am talking about my experience going through them as Survivor. Additionally, assume all regions have a pup spawn chance unless explicitly stated otherwise.
Highly enjoyed, strongly recommend
Stormy Coast*^ — and another usurper with lots of room to spare. Stormy Coast is the most incredible region I've ever had the pleasure of playing. The atmosphere is just incredible, especially if you do as intended and revisit it across the timeline! The concept of Stormy Coast, its design as an abandoned shipping port, the changes as you move through time, the lore, all of it is just amazing. I just adore it. The music is also absolutely fantastic. I don't know how to describe the experience because it's. Quite literally indescribable, honestly, looking through it yourself. Go get it. It's just fantastic. I would recommend picking one slugcat from Hunter to Monk's time, and then visiting as the rest of the slugcats. (Also, fun fact: the creator of Stormy Coast is the same person who made Lush Mire and Undersea!)
Far Shore^ — I'm a little surprised to have to say this, but this supplanted Howling Rift as my favorite region very quickly. The overall design is just lovely. The threat music is amazing, and there's a lot to see because Far Shore is a very big region—one of the biggest available right now actually! It's hard to summarize what it's like going through it because different parts of it have such a different vibe; the above ground parts are somewhat like Shoreline, but with more options for traversal, while the below ground parts are sort of like Shaded Citadel (but cooler. I'm biased though, I like the horror aspect). Additionally, there's a certain part of Far Shore that really made it feel like I was playing the game for the first time again. No other region has ever tackled something like Far Shore has, and it's really an unforgettable experience. I recommend entering from the Pilgrim's Ascent gate! Additionally, and this might sound strange, but DO NOT play Far Shore as your first region. Go try some of the other ones on this list first, like Pilgrim's Ascent and Scorched District! It just works better that way, I promise.
Howling Rift*^ — this region is kind of like if you took Memory Crypts and made it as big as Shaded Citadel is, but with amazing music and a much more foreboding atmosphere. There is also an Underhang-like part with some of the most interesting (and difficult) platforming I've had the pleasure of playing in this game so far. It's definitely not going to be everyone's favorite, but it's my favorite. I recommend going in without neuron glow for the optimal experience. The Mark is unnecessary.
Coral Caves and Hanging Gardens^ — absolutely stunning regions, I loved the aesthetics and the level design. They use a mechanic that I haven't really seen in any other custom regions (except Lost Cranny, kind of), and it makes for some really interesting platforming. Hanging Gardens in particular also has some fascinating geometry, which I won't elaborate on because it's a delight to discover on your own! I will say though that Coral Caves in particular is definitely a little more difficult than some of the other regions on this list, but it's not unmanageable as Survivor. Coral Caves also boasts a unique world state for Saint!
Lush Mire and Undersea^ — technically not connected regions, though they share Shaded Citadel as a connection, but come on you have to play these two together. Hollow Knight fans in particular might enjoy these two regions; Lush Mire takes obvious influence from Greenpath and Queen's Gardens, while Undersea has a subregion that looks a lot like City of Tears. They both have gorgeous level design and are not super difficult. I would recommend having neuron glow for Undersea, and the Mark for Lush Mire. However, some people are experiencing issues with pipes breaking and trapping them in walls when Lush Mire is enabled. Mergefix I believe is one way to fix this issue? But so far there hasn't been a concrete fix.
Pilgrim's Ascent and Scorched District^ — intended to be played together and very seamless in the integration. Really cool designs for both regions, in particular PA personally. Did you like Pebbles' broader superstructure or the Exterior? Well I have good news for you. SD is also a fun mix of superstructure-like parts and more Metropolis-looking rooms, and it also has a unique end of cycle effect. Neuron glow isn't necessary for either region, but it would probably make certain parts easier for some people. Definitely have the mark for SD though.
Drainage System Plus^ — the coolest vanilla region expansion I've seen so far. It at least doubles the size of DS and adds a ton of complexity to it, as well as some secrets. It was like exploring it for the first time and it was amazing. Some paths got a little tricky to navigate, but largely I had a lot of fun, and there's generally bubble weed around where you'll need it. I believe it is also fully compatible with Saint's world? So it's technically DS+ and UG+. There may be mod conflicts with DS+ in some cases though.
Hallowed Grotto^ — a very creative concept for a region, featuring unique world changes for every, and I mean every, slugcat. Yes, even Inv. The region itself isn't very big, but that's because each slugcat has a unique version of it. Neuron glow could be nice, but definitely go in with the Mark, and I recommend going once as every slugcat. It is probably better to explore this region in expedition mode to prevent you from restarting your entire save.
Enjoyed, would recommend
Neuron Forest^ — a pretty small region, but a very lovely one! If you like iterator aesthetics and are looking for a calmer experience, Neuron Forest has plenty of that to offer. It is, however, Saint exclusive, but for what it is, it works pretty well. There are also some secrets to be found here, so make sure to check every room! (Also, the creator is on Tumblr! Vela if you see this, hiiiii)
Marshland Wastes — nifty, plant filled region that feels a bit like a more flora-filled Garbage Wastes with Shoreline elements, in a sense? It's hard to nail down. I don't know if I'd call it particularly unique (though it's been a while since I played it), but it's still really well designed and overall fun to play through. There are some really memorable moments though, and personally I really like the crossover room(s). That's just me though. Mark not necessary, neuron glow maybe helpful?
Five Pebbles Expanded* — another expanded vanilla region, which mostly combines pre-Rivulet Five Pebbles with rooms from The Rot. It's done really well though, and there are some aspects to it that are unique to Ex5P. It's nice seeing Cystic Conduit rooms in his superstructure before it rotted so badly. Also! You can enter the cell chamber! It doesn't kill you though, or at least it didn't when I played it, which was a bit disappointing. I was hoping to become fried slug. Do note that the Cystic Conduit rooms have not been changed to be more friendly for other slugcats, nor does any bubbleweed spawn, so uh... have dev tools ready.
Expanded Industrial — and another expanded vanilla region! I liked the new rooms quite a lot, the aesthetics blend in very well i think. It adds a surprising number of rooms with water in them, I will say? But i think it works out overall. The map was broken when I played, I don't know if it's been fixed, but I think it's still worth checking out. Unlike EXSU, EXHI kind of adds a bunch of rooms that don't connect as much to the vanilla rooms, as far as I've noticed, so it's like getting a new subregion of rooms rather than a mix of them. Still, it's pretty cool!
Expanded Outskirts — and yet another expanded vanilla region. It's not as extensive as DS+ I don't think? But it still adds a ton and the room designs are really neat. Certain rooms were a little strange to me? ExSU adds a lot of routing complexity in a way that I like, and now that the map is repaired, it's a lot easier to navigate. It is also fully compatible with DS+! Playing with both mods enabled gives you... three? Four gates? Into DS, which is kind of wild. It also appears I missed a new gate into Industrial Complex!
Timeless Conservatory/Quiet Gardens — a small new region connected to Pebbles' can. It's got a bunch of new screens since I last played it, as well as a subregion for Pebbles! It's very creative, I like it. Currently it's still fairly small, and it doesn't seem like there's any lore pearls in there, but it's a pretty region with some cool aesthetics. Good for a quick play. Mark not required, and I went in with neuron glow but the glow seems to be forcibly disabled in certain rooms?
Enjoyed, wouldn't readily recommend
Lavish Knack — this one's weird. It's a pack of several custom regions, all interconnected, but when I played it only one of them had full backgrounds and foregrounds. The rest were very... bare. It was kind of funny though. Some of the design choices are also a little peculiar, though thankfully, not typically in a way that makes platforming or traversal difficult. It did have one specific mechanic that I really liked, some strange pipe launching thing, but it was used only in one spot. Most of my enjoyment was from baffled laughter at how this region was designed admittedly. I wouldn't call it a bad region, it's just a little funny going through it at times. The Mark won't be necessary for Lavish Knack, though neuron glow might help in some parts of it.
Aerial Arrays*^ — this one will ah... not be a favorite of many people, I think. I found it interesting, and I enjoyed the platforming, generally, but. Um. It is. Pretty cursed. In several ways, and in ways that a lot of people won't like. Some of the camera transitions are a little rough, some of the design choices are a little... peculiar, and some tiles are a little bare in a way that's a little noticeable if you're really looking at the aesthetics, but considering this is the dev's first region? It's pretty damn impressive. It's pretty well made too, imo. It also boasts a surprising number of unique pearls, two of which uh. Are pretending to be white pearls. I'll... leave that for you to figure out. Do note that some parts of Aerial Arrays are bugged right now, but I've given the dev my feedback and they'll be pushing a hotfix for bugs soon. The Mark is not necessary, and you can skip grabbing a neuron since there's neurons in Aerial Arrays.
Washroom — rather small region, but it was pretty neat. There's not much to it, but I think it achieves its purpose well. It made me feel like laundry as I was going through it. A surprising amount of worm grass was in the region though. Mark and neuron glow not necessary.
Lost Cranny — possibly the smallest region available at the moment, but considering it was made in just three hours, I say it's pretty damn impressive. The map was unfortunately broken when I played and I'm not sure if it'll ever be fixed, but truthfully the region is like. 8 rooms? So. It's hard to get lost anyways. Short and sweet, imo. Could be worth looking at, and Balagaga said the region might get expanded if people are interested, which could be interesting. Also, this region is Monk exclusive.
Did not like, would not recommend
Expanded Leg — full disclosure, this is mostly a me thing, but ExLeg was eh. I already don't like the Leg, so I don't know why I went into it expecting I might enjoy it. (I do know. It's because of PA.) It's just... Leg. But the other side of it. I will say though that some of the platforming in ExLeg feels even less clear than in the vanilla Leg? But maybe that's a skill issue on my part, I dunno. If you like the Leg you might like ExLeg, but I wasn't a fan personally.
The Tower (not the Daszombes one) — this one wasn't particularly interesting to me. It was basically just pole hell, and some of the design was... eh? The camera transitions were also a bit jank imo. Very much not my thing. Some rooms were pretty though, and it's also the dev's first region, so I have to cut them some slack.
Honorable mentions
Fortunate Development — not fully a region mod, but it cleans up the rot from all of Pebbles' superstructure. It was bittersweet to play through this, and I enjoyed it, but ultimately it's just Pebbles. Still worth checking out though imo. I don't think this one is compatible with Ex5P? I'm not sure though.
The Tower (the Daszombes one) — I actually have not watched most of Das' content, and certainly not the Iterator Logs, so I was very out of my depth when playing through this. it seems interesting, I just have no context for any of it. It was heavily unfinished when I played it though; one room would be fully designed, with foreground decor and lighting and stuff, and then if you go through a pipe, you end up in a bare room with literally nothing but the geometry. It was jarring, but also clearly unfinished, so I can't judge it too hard. If you like Das' stuff, you might be interested in this.
Additional notes
* These regions have some fairly intense flashing in some parts:
The Underhang-like section of HR has electrical storms like vanilla Underhang, but they're far more intense and far more constant than what Underhang gets. It also has a pretty strong particle effect in a good bunch of rooms; it made my game lag in some of them. Honestly HR just has a lot of eyestrain-y graphics in general, which is a huge shame because it’s basically my only complaint about it.
Ex5P has Primary Cortex rooms that still feature the (harmless) green lightning, and that too can get pretty flashy.
Aerial Arrays' upper part is full of slug zappers. Yes, seriously. They flicker on and off. If you dislike RTA because of the visual flashing effect, you'll want to avoid playing Aerial Arrays, because they're unavoidable.
Stormy Coast is, well. Very stormy. There's lightning effects in most outdoor rooms, and they're unavoidable.
None of these mods have a config menu to reduce or disable the flash effects, so be careful if you're sensitive to flashing. The mod No More Flashes may help with some of these, but not all.
^ There is at least one unique lore pearl in this region.
Note that Undersea's pearls currently do not give the correct dialogue. Wrayk (the dev) has been notified of the issue, though fixing this hasn't been a priority for him as of late. Additionally, any Saint timeline pearls are currently unreadable by Moon, but the dialogue is available on the mods wiki(!).
& The review for this region is currently outdated, due to there having been an update to the mod since I wrote the review.

Note
okay so first of all our lord and savior raindb legacy mods https://www.raindb.net/legacy.html so first installing 1.5: you can have 1.5 and 1.9 versions completely separately and that's what I recommend. Go into your steam games folder, rename rw to anything else, the go to steam library -> properties -> betas -> choose 1.51 and it'll create a separate folder and install it there, leaving 1.9 files intact. When its done downloading, rename the 1.5 folder to anything else again (personally i have it as "Rain World 1.5"), rename the original 1.9 folder back to just rw and once again go to properties -> betas and choose none, it'll verify 1.9 files and leave 1.5 alone. BOOM! You have both of them installed.
now that you have that figured out, 1.5 mods: you need bepinex - extract the contents into 1.5 folder and BOI mod manager - extract it anywhere, run it and and choose the path to your 1.5 game. It will create a "Mods" folder in your game's root folder, this is where you're gonna have to put all the .dll mod files. AND NOW ! Custom region support - you will be able to download and install regions in an in-game mods menu. (feel free to contact me if you need help!) OKAY NOW TO ACTUAL REGION MODS all that i can remember rn and my rating Old New Horizons - one of my absolute favourite. But I do recommend playing it with dev tools otherwise it can be very frustrating. It's a collection of scrapped custom regions so some parts are not very well designed but overall it's a delight that offers A LOT and has some of the most unique level designs and mechanics. There's a portal reference region. And a build-a-ladder room. If you even care.
Arid barrens - a very solid mod. It adds a desert region thats very fun to explore, has an above dround and below ground routes which are pretty cool to explore. Drowned Pantheon - really loved that one. Has a nice vibe and there are bells :'] Aether Ridge - mixed feeling. It's pretty cool but very brutal. And MASSIVE. One hell of a skill check, also has manyt one way routes and dead ends. Personally was not a fan. The Mast - I ! LOVE ! CLIMBING ! UP ! Very cool solid region, similar vibe to atop the tallest tower in downpour. Would recommend. The Root - didn't like it. It's the leg but more. As an underhang hater would not recommend. Hanging Gardens - very pretty and chill I especially loved the design of the upper levels. Also Hollow Knight fans will see a lot of familiar architechture. Also it only connects to two custom regions which is interesting. Coral Caves - has a lot of frustrating water mechanics and one way paths. Except you don't realize that until the cycle is already wasted. But the vibe is cool. Would still not recommend honestly. One of requirements for Hanging Garden. Badlands - similar vibe to Arid Barrens, liked this one! Also has an above ground and below ground routes and overall is a nice enjoyable experience, it's also not a very big region, so I'd say give it a shot. Undersea - was not a fan, has some very cool moments but all also has some very frustrating moments. unsure about this one. Tainted overpass - played just a bit but from I saw there was nothing of note particularly. No cool mechanics or level design. Scorched District - UM. YES ?? IT'S VERY GOOD ??? METROPOLIS BEFORE METROPOLIS. Pilgrims Ascent - the leg but green. Side House - very different from other regions I mentioned, it's a collection of unused vanilla rooms, they aren't particularly good or flow together in one region, but it's a very curios thing to see and has some slightly different familiar rooms! Aqueducts - a challenge region, meant to be played by hunter, has a nice feel to it, some rooms are very interesting, but overall. Was not a fan, call it a skill issue. Underbelly - did not like it. Also kinda reminds me of the exterior (minus the wall) and superstructure, do you see a pattern? I certainly do. Anyway when playing I got stuck repeatedly dying in an area where you're supposed to wall jump. between those five pebbsi zap thingies in recursive transform arrays. Howling Rift - it's a very cool a well made region, I'm sure it's many people's fav and I recommend checking it out. Personally did not care for it tho. Grand Reservoir - recaptures that feel or going into shaded for the first time, has some frustrating platforming, but I loved it nonetheless, the tight pathways and spider enemies bring just the right level of unsetteling. Swamplands - I remember playing it for sure, but I don't even remember what was there. Also have a feeling I didn't like it ? Don't take my word for it tho. Pyramid Wall - what it says on the tin. The wall, but its a pyramid. Drainage System + - I like it :'] you will like it too if you like drainage and hate it if you don't.
Wet World - it's funne, Outskirts but more water, I liked it, but also some parts are very bullshit. Would you like a BLL in your outskirts sir ? Floating Isles - all the worst parts of sky islands. No thank you. ANDDD that's all, I'm sure there are more region mods, but I was only looking through the ones on Raindb and besides floating isles I couldn't remember more. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
damn you can have two rain worlds?
would they automatically have separate launches or do they need to be shoved into steam through the add a game button?
regardless. very cool. thank you lots pipa!

the night in a wash of moonlight
Gon's POV of chapter 2 of The world in a spray of seawater! (posted early, bc chapter 2 isnt even available yet lol)
Today was going to be a good day. A great day. Gon could feel it in the air.
It was more than superstition. The intense thunderstorms that had swept Whale island the past three days had finally let up, and Gon could finally look past the petrichor of the rain and wind to smell the sea.
The tides had receded, the fish were back in the shallows, and Gon could finally, finally go back to his favorite cave and go swimming!
The thought made him bounce in place. He was beyond excited— finally, he could wear his skin again! Mito had been aghast at the thought of him swimming out during the storms, too afraid of him being tossed by the waves. Gon had been upset, sure. Storms were fun to play in! Lightning didn’t often strike the water, even if he was above the surface, and if it did he always had enough time to dive below the shock.
Swimming in the rough waters was challenging, far more challenging than the calm, sunny shallows surrounding Whale Island’s reefs. Gon could follow the riptides until they flung him skyward, so high he felt like he was flying. It would pull him along like a bullet past the coral boundary into open water— that was always a little scary. But it was scary in a way that tingled sharply down his spine and made his fur bristle on end, more electric than lightning itself.
Someday, Gon would swim out there. He’d swim, and swim, and swim far beyond the reefs, into the dark of the open ocean. He’d shed his ties to Whale Island like his coat and travel out as his father did, as his kind must.
But right now, Auntie was here. While she would never understand the innate need, to leave, she would never stop him… and Gon wasn’t ready to shed her yet.
So Gon would stay in the shallows, and swim in the reefs, and not go beyond into the open ocean. Yet.
“Aunt Mito!” Gon called, sharp and loud as a bark, “I’m going down to the beach, now!”
His aunt’s face poked around the doorway to the kitchen. Despite the crease ever-present in her brows, she smiled kindly when she met his eyes. “Alright, Gon. Thank you for remembering to tell me, first.”
Gon laughed sheepishly, not responding. He didn’t think Aunt Mito would ever stop mentioning that, even though he only did it once. He understood better, now, how scared she had been to find his pelt and him gone. But it wasn’t as if he didn’t come back! And he had been grounded for that already, his pelt put in a box on the highest shelf in the closet for what felt like ages, until his skin felt tight and he always had a dry mouth no matter how much water he drank.
(He’d been grounded until he got sick. Really sick. Gon couldn’t really remember a lot of what happened, during that time, but his Aunt never took his coat again.)
(Coming home was the first promise he ever made, he was determined to keep it.)
Gon grabbed for his plastic bucket, shovel, and towel. He didn’t need them, but they were nice things to have when he was waiting for the sun to dry him off. He practically threw himself out the door, nearly falling face-first into the dirt in the process and barely remembering to shut the door gently behind him. The moment his bare feet his the dirt he was running, his pelt flapping against the backs of his thighs from around his waist, and all he could think about was the cool rush of water-water-water-water!
The path from home to the beach was elapsed into seconds. Gon couldn’t remember any of it. One moment he was on the porch and the next his toes were slipping in the sand. The distant spray of the ocean hit his cheeks and he smiled, grinning so wide his face hurt. There was a muffled shouting in the back of his head, barking louder and louder, overlapping over and over itself until he could hear nothing but the crash of the waves on the sand and see nothing but blue.
He was consumed by the sea. So much so, he nearly sent himself flying with how close he came to tripping over the white-grey lump blending into the sand.
It’s not his fault! It really did blend in. When the sunlight hit the sand it turned a blazing white, just like the hair on the stranger’s head, and their scales were the prettiest, blinding speckled-snow grey. Even the skin blending into the scales was nearly opalescent pale, moonlight over the ocean.
They looked like…
They looked just like a spotted seal! A spotted seal if it were merfolk, rather than a selkie, at least. Gon hadn’t met an Arctic selkie yet, but he bet he would someday! Maybe, they would even be half as beautiful as the merperson sleeping on the shore!
…That really wasn’t a good place for them to sleep, though.
“Hey!” Gon called out. No response. Not a twitch.
Uh oh. They were really deeply asleep. Whale Island was safe, and a lot of the locals knew about their neighbors, but that didn’t exactly mean a whole merperson could just go comatose on the sand. Even as remote as they were, there was always at least one or two merchants that hung around, just in case of interesting product. It was the reason Auntie was so adamant he keeps his pelt in the house, rather than tied around his waist or flung over his shoulders.
Gon crept closer. He looked quickly around, just in case-- alone. Alright, good! That was good. “Hey!” he tried again, this time reaching out to… what? To shake them? Hmm, Gon didn’t want to risk hurting them, somehow. What if they were beached because they were injured? He hadn’t considered that before, but now it was all he could think about!
Gon frowned as he took in the merman. Cracked scales, a strange, dusty white like fogged glass. Their webbing looked like paper. Their skin was painted with his blush, ruddy and stark, practically steaming. Their gills opened and closed in shallow, jerky little ripples that looked like they hurt.
Gently, he touched the white, salt-crusted hair. He combed the thick curls out of the merperson’s face, letting the light hit them. Wow, they were pale. Gon knew that, of course, but it was something else, somehow, to see their face. Even their eyelashes were white! And their skin was so warm, even warmer than his own. They hissed quietly, eyes scrunching tight, but not opening. The moment Gon let their hair fall back into their face they went silent again.
Yikes. They really had been beached for a while. This wasn’t good.
Gon unfolded his towel and carefully tossed it over the mer. It would shield them from any more sun, at least a little. Everything counted. “I’ll be right back,” Gon told them seriously. If the unconscious boy gave a response, Gon wasn’t waiting to hear it, already sprinting down the sand towards the waves. He couldn’t just drag the other back into the water, not without risking hurting them more— they had likely been cooking in the heat for so long that the shock could really hurt them. Merpeople couldn’t regulate their temperatures the same way selfies could. It was just part of being a fish-person and not a mammal-person. But Gon could at least try to help them cool down. Give them a chance to acclimate a little more, before they went back properly!
The sea washed over his feet. It was warm. Whale Island water was always warm, even in the winter. And thank the seas it was. Cold was good, but too cold and he may as well just kick the poor stranger awake, instead. Gon waded into the surf. He filled the bucket as full as he could without risking spilling half of it on the way back.
The mer hadn’t moved an inch. Gon set the bucket in the sand. He reached forward, touching that curtain of white hair.
“Nhh…”
Gon’s pulled away as the mer’s head lolled away, eyes squeezing tightly— Ooh, oh, they were waking up! That was— great! Gon felt relief begin to unfurl in his chest.
It just as quickly died as a horrible, rasping noise coughed out of the mer. They frowned, even in their sleep, like it hurt to make the noise. Gon caught the tiniest sliver of open-ocean blue as their eyes fluttered. It didn’t last. Their head fell back down, limp and weak, into the sand.
Gon panicked, a little. “Hey, hey! No, don’t do that!” They must have been injured! He was right! This was bad, if they were so injured they couldn’t even stay awake, what if they didn’t wake back up? Gon needed them to wake up now, by any means necessary!
He raised a hand and slapped them.
It did the trick— too well. Those ocean blue eyes snapped open. Gon jerked away with a shout as the mer(man?) wheeled on him. Fast! So much faster than he expected! If he hadn’t move when he did, those claws (razor sharp, like little steel knives. Gon’s didn’t have claws like that, or even teeth like that, in seal form…!) swiping inches from his skin. Gon tripped backwards, falling onto his butt in the sand. Uh oh. Oh, he was done for.
…Or not? The merman didn’t pursue him. He certainly tried to, but he seemed to be having trouble. His thin fingers struggled to catch a proper grip on the soft silt. More than that, he just seemed tired. Exhausted in the way that left you sluggish and confused. A flush was dark across his pallid skin.
The merman didn’t seem to appreciate his scrutiny. They flashed their teeth and hissed at him.
…Okay. Upset, but only in the way of something hurt and cornered. Gon could deal with that. Scared-upset was better than angry-upset. Even better, since he wasn’t handling a wild animal, but a person! Someone who could understand that he was just trying to help before attempting to bite him! He pulled the bucket up, stepping closer.
He didn’t get very close before getting hissed at again. Which was fine, and totally understandable, except then the mer tried to move.
“Get—“ they choked, coughing on hot, dry air and sand. Their tail pushed into the sand, fins digging into the grit. It didn’t give them any purchase to do more than flop awkwardly in place. “Get ‘way from ‘e!”
Poor guy. He was so disoriented. Gon wished he had gotten up sooner, maybe he could have found him before he had cooked so long. It was lucky he didn’t have heat stroke, already. “It’s okay,” he said gently, taking another step. The mer was scared, and hurt, and confused, but Gon didn’t think he really wanted to hurt him even though he definitely could. Those teeth looked sharp! His words didn’t go very far in reassuring, though, with the way the mer snarled at him. Yikes, that was bound to hurt, with the way he was coughing. Gon paused, watching with wide eyes as the mer thrashed, sand flying everywhere. He was really going to hurt himself if he kept fighting. “Hey, it’s okay, I promise I’m not going to hurt you! I’m trying to help!”
His words may as well have been to a wild animal anyway, with how much the merperson listened. “‘Et away ‘om me!” He cried hoarsely. “Get, g-et,” he coughed. Kept coughing. Gon’s brow furrowed anxiously. They really, really needed to stop talking. Or, at least, wait until they got wet to talk. He stepped closer, raising his bucket. “Get away—“
Gon hoped he wouldn’t be too shocked. The water was a little warmer, in the bucket, at least. He poured it onto the mer’s head.
Still cold, clearly, with how they jerked back. His whole body twisted, thrown back in a burst of energy Gon hadn’t really expected him to still have— landing on their dorsal fin in a move that made Gon cringe. Those weren’t flexible the way seal flippers were. He hoped it didn’t hurt them too bad. At least it had flipped them onto their back! Gon leaned forward, carefully tricking more water from the bucket onto their chest.
They made a noise that rattled Gon’s brain in his skull. “I know,” he shouted over the ringing, “I’m giving it to you! Stop moving!” Their wiggling made it very hard to aim. Gon did his best, pouring water across the gills laid over their ribs. He watched in fascination as they moved. Fluttering open and closed, whistling with the tempo of the merperson’s rising and falling chest. Gon hadn’t ever seen gills so close up. They were so— weird. Like little red xylophones under silver-white skin.
He was so focused, watching them, that he straight up dropped the bucket when the mer’s claws flashed under his eyes. Gon barked in shock, jumping out of range, but it didn’t matter. They weren’t going for him. The mer dragged himself through the sand in one determined push, their talons curling around the faded rim of Gon’s bucket— and just stuck their whole head into it.
Um. Okay! That worked.
It was a little ineffective, but it was better than pointlessly fighting him. Distracting, too. Gon crept close, watching carefully, but the mer didn’t seem to care about him anymore. They were too involved with his bucket. His white hair fanned out in the water, going from a limp wad of snow to a cloud of fluffy white that hid his face from view. All that poked out was the tips of his ear fins, pressed tight to the sides of the bucket.
Too bad he didn’t bring a bigger one. Gon would, from now on. Just in case. He had just enough room to dip his hand into the bucket beside the mer’s head. He moved slow, ready to pull away just in case, but the other was far too focused on the water to pay him any mind.
Gon sighed, shoulders relaxing. He gently pat the mer’s hip. The scales under his handprint glistened, almost coming to life under the touch. It was like wiping dust off metal. Gon slid his hand along the scales, watching in awe as more and more glittering silver shone up at him. They were rough to the touch. If he ran his hand up the mer’s flank, he would probably shred up his palm. It was so strange, so unlike the thick fur of a seal— he was just like a real shark! The tail and fins were definitely shark, though Gon had never seen a shark so pale and bright.
He dipped his hand back into the bucket, moving to let water drip off his hand onto the dark red gills peeking out fro the mer’s ribs. The mer’s whole chest twitched when the water hit them. The gill slits opens wide, fluttering open like a gaping mouth and Gon giggled, gently petting them like a cat. They shivered under his fingers.
Water flooded over the rim as the mer pulled his head from the bucket. Gon moved on instinct, hovering, only to freeze as that white cloud of hair whipped around. His ear fins splayed wide, framing his pale face. Slitted blue eyes glared.
Okay, still upset. Gon pulled away with a nervous chuckle. No touching, then! He didn’t want help, that was alright. Gon held up his hands, palm up. He hadn’t hurt him, had no weapons (unless the bucket counted?? Or the towel? Or the shovel? Though he kind of lost that one, somewhere along the beach…) but was getting hissed at anyway. The mer was showing his teeth to him! Now that was just unfair, even if they were very pretty teeth. Pearly and sharp and shiny. He hoped the other wouldn’t actually use them to bite him. That would hurt pretty badly.
Gon believed in his chances. Even when the mer swiped at him, it wasn’t a very serious attempt to hit him. Gon could tell, if the other wanted to really hurt him, he would.
“I hope you don’t, though,” he murmured under his breath. “I wouldn’t be mad, if you did, you’re really scared and you’re probably hurt and you’re all alone, and you don’t know me. But I’m gonna help you. I’m gonna help you anyway.”
Still, Gon let him have his space. If he was that freaked out by Gon coming closer, then that was okay. Gon would just stay right where he was. No big deal! The most important thing was that the mer had some water. Gon didn’t need to come any closer at all, if he didn’t want help applying it.
He stayed patiently still as the mer’s growl slowly fell quiet. Gon could see the indecision in his pretty face. His blue eyes darted between him and the bucket, lingering on the water for longer and longer. Would it help if he sat down? Or would moving make him more nervous?  Gon wasn’t really sure. The rules were different. This wasn’t just an injured foxbear, or a fledging bird, or a stray cat— it was a whole person, with needs and wants that Gon had no experience with.
At least he could breathe. Gon had been so sure he was dead, at first, so still on the sand. He had no clue merfolk could breathe outside of the water at all!
And he was being so, so good. He barely lifted a finger. Even his swats and hisses were half-hearted, like he knew, even subconsciously, that Gon was trying to help him. Gon just had to keep proving it.
“It’s okay,” he continued. His voice was low. Almost whispering. A suspicious glare was leveled at him and he showed his hands, keeping them open and loose and empty. “I’ll stay right here, see? I’m right where you can see me, I haven’t moved an inch. It’s okay. My hands are empty. I’m not holding anything, I’m not reaching for anything...” The glare didn’t let up, didn’t soften or give an inch. But Gon smiled to see the mer diligently lifting handfuls of seawater up to their gills anyway. Refusing to give in, and refusing to give up! They were so cool. He almost couldn’t keep himself from blurting it out. “Yes, keep using the bucket, please, that’s good. You’re so smart, so brave for not panicking—“
“Shut up.”
Gon startled. His eyes widened. He— spoke to me! Speaking to me! Ooh, that’s so cool, I’ve never— “Sorry,” he sputtered, “what was that? Did you s—“
“Shut up!” Yep, definitely speaking to him!! Gon felt his heart skip a beat. The words were hoarse, and made the boy wince, but Gon was so happy for a moment he nearly started vibrating. His new friend could talk!! Gon wasn’t sure if merfolk could talk! They were’t like him, there was no second form they could slip into that was meant to walk and talk and live above water— he wondered if all of them could talk! He wondered if he’d be able to finally, finally find out, when he was finally allowed to swim beyond Whale Island— surely there were so, so many people like him that he had yet to meet, and he could speak to them! He could meet so many people, make so many friends—
“Hey.”
Gon’s daydreams faded like fog under sunlight. He blinked, somewhat embarrassed. Oops. He was maybe getting a little ahead of himself. Those thoughts were for the future. One where he didn’t currently have a hurt merman right in front of him.
His thoughts moved way too slow. Already, the mer was settled onto the sand, staring up at him like he was an idiot. “Hey,” they said again, exasperated, “how old are you?”
They wanted… to know about him?! Gon could die happy. He was unable to stop his smile, only hoping that they didn’t take it as a threat display. “I just turned 12 a few months ago! What about you?” Please by my age-please be my age-please be my age—
“None of your business. What’s your name?”
Gon wanted to laugh. He wanted to shout. He wanted to jump around and throw his fists to the sea and say See! I’m interesting, too! I’m interesting to someone! There’s someone my age (maybe!!) and they want to know more about me!! They’re pretty and cool and shiny and they want to know about me! Me!! “None of your business!” He teased, the words practically bubbling out of him.
His joke didn’t play over that well, with the way the mer hissed at him, but that didn’t bother Gon at all. “Sorry!” He chirped. He couldn’t stop smiling. Even upset at him, the other boy was so pretty. His swipe was almost playful, with how lazy it was. Gon was making progress! “My name’s Gon! Can I know yours, or is that not my business, either?”
He hoped it was! He really, really hoped it was! Gon wanted— wanted a name to put to the face in his head. He wanted a name to take home. To tell Aunt Mito and Grandma Abe, to finally be able to say “I made a friend, and his name is—“
“—not your business,” the mer snapped. He tossed the bucket towards Gon. Oh, it was empty! He hadn’t even noticed, the other must have finally used it all up. “If you’re just gonna stand around, go fill that back up with more water.”
Gon was already picking the bucket up. His cheeks hurt with his smile. He stepped a tiny bit closer, moving slow, and pulled the towel from where it had become half buried in all the sand kicked up. Not giving himself time to second guess, he gently tossed it over the mer’s back. The end of it flopped over his head, covering his white hair. He hissed, more in surprised than any upset, and shook it off. Gon snickered. Cute! “That’ll keep you a little cooler while I’m gone, okay? I won’t be long!”
He was already backpedaling towards the surf. His chest was light with joy. Even if he didn’t know the boy’s name, he was being allowed to help! Trusted to help! That was worth more than nearly anything. “Sure thing!”
He didn’t want to pull his eyes away, didn’t want to risk turning and finding the mer gone, never there at all, not real in the first place— Gon took off at a dead sprint to the water. He was fast, whether he was in or out of the water. Whale Island’s beaches were as familiar to him as his own skin, his own fur, and Gon didn’t even skid in the sand as he barreled right into the waves. He had to go a little deeper, to get water and no sand, getting his shorts wet all over. But it was worth it for the crystalline sea water. Worth it to do something for his new (first) friend.
Gon turned back, clambering out of the surf, and froze.
Oooh no-no-no. The mer was trying to move. Thrashing like he was caught in a fishing net, flopping and dragging across the sand, the towel flung off to the side— was he hurt? Was he hurt, and Gon somehow missed it? He was facing Gon, now, long on his belly— was he trying to get to Gon? What happened?
Gon’s belly swooped.
He took off running before he could think to do so, the bucket cradled tight to his pounding chest.
Thankfully, it didn’t seem like anything was wrong. Gon place the bucket down and ran over, barely remembering to stop out of the other’s reach. He scanned him up and down, up and down, but he didn’t see anything wrong. Just the same dry, grey scales and shaggy white hair and piercing blue eyes.
Nothing hurt, nothing else around. Was he just stressed?
As if in answer the mer thrashed again, flopping awkwardly in the sand. Some got in Gon’s mouth. “Woah!” He spit, gagging. Shut his eyes as more sand went flying. A frustrated keen left the mer, so low and tight Gon wasn’t even sure he knew he was making it. Alright, not hurt, then. He wasn’t so much upset, but… “Hey, don’t do that! You’re gonna hurt yourself— I can help you get back in, but you need to—“
“I don’t need your help!” He yowled.
Woah! Gon jumped back, barely missing the mer’s tail. Yikes. He had felt the muscles, there, when he had touched it before. If that had hit him, he was sure he’d have broken a bone or two.
The mer whined high in distress. “J-just leave me alone, already, you, you—“
Gon frowned. That… hurt. He was doing his best to help, really…! No one even wanted his help, much less him, “I’m not gonna do that!” He shouted. The mer froze, staring up at him with wide eyes, and Gon realized he had come a little too close. Oops. No take-backsies now, but he could be nicer about it? “I understand that you’re scared, and hurt, but you can’t get back to the water alone. You’re too far away, and it’s really hot today. If I hadn’t found you, you would have just died.”
The mer stared at him. His eyes were huge. Like two moons, the pupils so constricted they were barely a thin black line in a sea of blue. They were shaking.
He was just… scared. Gon tried to relax. It was normal to be afraid, in their situation. He didn’t know what was going on, was stuck and at mostly helpless. Of course he would fight. That’s just what animals did. “People” were not exempt from “animals”.
“Look,” he said, gentle, “let me help you. I promise, I want nothing to but help you. We’ll get you back in the water together, and you can…” he swallowed, “…swim away, and I won’t tell anybody, even my Aunt.” It would suck, to not be able to, but he would do it. He would do it for his friend. And he wouldn’t regret a thing, because it made his friend safe and happy.
The mer looked into his eyes, silent. His mouth set in a tight line. He glanced past Gon, out into the open ocean where Gon wasn’t allowed to go. Gon didn’t move an inch. He stared back, unblinking, begging the other to believe me-believe me-believe me please—
“Prove it,” he whispered.
“Okay.” Gon nodded, agreeing despite not knowing what exactly he was agreeing to. Prove it? How was Gon supposed to “prove” it, beyond everything he had already been doing and saying? What else was there to do? Shake on it? Would that help?? “I’m going to come a little closer, now.”
If the mer had any arguments against that, he didn’t voice them. Those blue eyes watched, wide, pupils darting across Gon’s face, as Gon kneeled in the sand. He was completely in the other’s reach, now. If he really, actually wanted to hurt Gon, he certainly could. Gon’s heart beat in his ears. He sure hoped he didn’t! It would hurt a lot, if he chose to swipe or bite. Those claws were sharp. Even a half-hearted lunge would mess Gon up pretty bad.
Gon had, despite everything, complete faith that he would be just fine. For as upset as the mer was, he had yet to maim Gon even a little.
With that belief in his heart, exceeding all else, Gon grabbed that clawed hand in his.
Cold. Compared to Gon, at least.
Wet. Good, it should be.
Pretty. Very much so.
There were little white scales on those pale knuckles. The grey speckles looked almost blue, against them. Their claws were long and sharp, deceptively fragile in how fine they appeared. Gon could tell, upon touching them, that they were more like solid steel knives. He was careful not to nick himself as he pulled the mer’s pinkie out, careful of the delicate white webbing between his slender fingers. The membrane was surprisingly soft, almost velvety.
Gon fought with himself not to needlessly touch them. Or any part of the other boy, for that matter. This was to prove he was good, not to be weird about it. Gon didn’t like when people asked to touch his pelt, so he shouldn’t try to touch other people’s non-human parts either!
He curled his pinkie around the mer’s, and hoped he couldn’t feel Gon’s heartbeat racing through the contact. “I promise,” he started, more seriously than anything ever, “to swallow a thousand needles, if I lie. Sealed with a kiss!” He pressed their thumbs together in a careful smooch. “Do you… believe me now?”
No reply. Gon risked a glance up from their joined hands to find the other staring down at them himself. There was a strange expression on his face. Jaw slack, brows high, lips parted as if to take in a breath and forgetting to actually do so. His eyes traced the line of their hands, their fingers, their palms. Over and over, as if looking for answers to some questions unasked.
Finally, his gaze flicked up. When he noticed Gon staring he ducked back down, hiding his ruddy cheeks. “Y-yeah.”
“Great!” Joy roared in Gon’s chest. “That’s great…!” His smile was splitting, straining at his cheeks. It didn’t lessen even when he glanced back at the bucket, forgotten in the sand. He hoped he hadn’t wasted too much… he had been more focused on running than trying not to spill. “Can I help you, now? I won’t touch you again, if you don’t want me to.”

Unit 5 blog
Growing up in Barbados, an island known for its natural beauty, I was always drawn to the environment around me. From the turquoise waters that seemed to stretch endlessly into the horizon to the lush greenery of sugar cane fields, mangroves, and gardens, Barbados is a place where nature envelops you. As a child, I remember spending hours on the beach, captivated by the rhythmic ebb and flow of the waves, collecting seashells, and curiously observing the tide pools for small crabs and fish. My love for the environment started here, but as I grew, so did my fascination with the science behind it all.
The warm, tropical climate and the island’s diverse ecosystems provided a perfect backdrop for a young mind eager to explore. School lessons often included field trips to places like Welchman Hall Gully, where we learned about the native plant species that populated our island, or Harrison’s Cave, a limestone wonder where I first marveled at the geological processes that had shaped this underground world. It wasn’t just the beauty that interested me; it was the why and how behind these formations. Why did the coral reefs around the island look the way they did? How did the trade winds affect the weather patterns that brought us cooling rain showers? These questions sparked a deep curiosity in me, one that would lead me to pursue the science behind nature.
Barbados, though small in size, is remarkably biodiverse. Growing up, I would often hear about efforts to protect our reefs, which, I later learned, were essential to both our environment and economy. The coral reefs acted as a barrier, protecting the island from strong ocean currents and storms, but they were also home to countless species of fish and marine life. Unfortunately, I also became aware of the threats these ecosystems faced, such as coral bleaching, caused by rising sea temperatures, and the pollution from human activity that affected both land and sea. My concern for the environment soon evolved into a deeper interest in understanding environmental science, particularly the impact of climate change on small island nations like Barbados.
In school, I found myself drawn to subjects like biology and chemistry, where I learned about ecosystems, biodiversity, and the chemistry of the atmosphere. I started to understand how interconnected everything was—from the smallest microorganisms to the larger climate systems that regulate the Earth’s temperature. The science behind photosynthesis fascinated me; the fact that plants, which I had admired for their beauty, were quietly working to produce oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide, playing a critical role in the balance of life on Earth, felt almost magical.
Tumblr media
As I grew older, I became more involved in local environmental initiatives. I joined beach cleanups, participated in tree-planting projects, and became a part of youth groups focused on environmental conservation. Through these activities, I met like-minded individuals who shared my passion for the environment and the desire to protect it for future generations. I also realized that while Barbados is a small island, the environmental issues we face are part of a much larger global problem. The rising sea levels that threaten our coastal communities are a result of global climate change, driven by greenhouse gas emissions from countries far beyond our shores.
This realization pushed me to consider the broader implications of environmental science. I wanted to understand not just the local impacts, but the global ones as well. This led me to pursue studies in environmental science, focusing on areas like climate change, sustainability, and conservation. The more I learned, the more I realized how critical it is for all of us to take action, no matter where we live. Barbados, like many island nations, is on the frontlines of climate change, and it’s up to us, as stewards of the planet, to protect and preserve our environment.
Looking back on my journey, I see how growing up in such a naturally rich and diverse place shaped my interests and career path. Barbados taught me to appreciate the beauty of nature but also instilled in me a deep sense of responsibility to understand and protect it. Today, I continue to explore the science behind the environment, driven by the same curiosity and passion that began in my childhood.

MODDED!TALE
=====================================
GENERAL INFO
=====================================
Its Unknown whether this is an Au or AT
This World was originally undertale but the player modded it and change its code to become something different, changing Undertale to what he wanted and what he believed was canon while also adding a ton of new stuff
=====================================
SETTING/LORE
=====================================
The Player decided to change the underground, instead of making it a barrier underground, The "Underground" is an another dimension where the monsters live, this other dimension had no sun or sky and the world is entirely underground as there is no surface
The Locations are
Hotland- A place filled with lava, has lava geysers, Volcanos, and Rock inlands
Snowdin- A cold snowy environment with frozen lakes, few trees, and ice glaciers
Waterfall- A crystal like environment with waterfalls and rivers, the crystal above produce a liquid that makes it rain in the area
Atlantic sea- A giant lake that goes deep below, filled what seems to be coral and similar oceanic plant life
Dark Forest- A forest with no light with trees that reach heights that none have ever reached
Rocky Hills- A mountain valley that is like a maze with many caves and minerals
Monster Kingdom- Where most monsters live and is the home of Asgore and his family
The player changed the lore of UT making it so the war still happened but ended in a peace treaty where each race decided to stay in their own worlds, with the doors being destroyed
The Door themselves were grey in color, the doors are gateways between the monster and human worlds
The Doors cannot be repaired once they are destroyed
=====================================
HUMANS/HUMAN SOULS
=====================================
The Humans in Modded!Tale had their physical capabilities increased that even the weakest human can crush a boulder with a single punch
The Humans have special abilities however these abilities are limited and are not magic, not all souls give special abilities
The Humans had many different Soul traits that provided them with different benefits and debuffs
For Example
Justice- Increases Speed and Strength and gives the user the ability to see the intent of the being
Bravery- Increases Strength tremendously
Perseverance- Increases Defense and speed and gives the user to absorb attacks for a short period of time
Kindness- Increases Defense tremendously and gives the user to see the health of a being
Integrity- Gives the user the ability to detect lies
Patience- Increases Stamina and gives the user the ability to predict attacks
There are many other soul traits some being entirely new soul types and others being a mixture/combination of the soul traits that results in a new soul
Humans when they die, their soul leaves their body intact however if the soul is attacked directly it can be destroyed easily
A Human Soul that has lots of DT can refuse to die however that requires an unnatural amount of DT
A Human Soul possess a membrane of some sort that contains the trait and DT
There are 2 types of soul membranes a human can be born with
Soft Membrane- The soul itself is soft and when held it feels like a ballon and when destroyed, it pops
Glass Membrance- The soul itself is hard and when held it feels as hard as glass and when destroyed it shatters like glass with pieces of the soul scattering around
A Human souls are more physical as they can be held and felt, they can take much more damage than a monster soul and can persist after death
=====================================
PLAYERS
=====================================
The Player made in so that players are defined as greater entities that exist in this world that can be called upon by humans
The Players are beings that can do any action but require a sacrifice of something of value
Players can possess only humans and thats if the humans agree to such action
The Players cannot interact with the world without a vessel and are powerless when connected to said vessel in that world
Players are beings that exist within the void that is outside the world reality
The Players are given a physical body in the void simply called an empty vessel or avatar
This Avatar is the representation of the player, Players possess the soul of SELF that is in their vessel, this soul only contains unlimited DT but it has no traits (This makes the soul look clear or "empty") When a Player possess a human, the player soul layer's on top of the human soul
The Avatar cannot leave the void unless in special circumstances
=====================================
MONSTERS/WILD MONSTERS/MONSTER SOULS
=====================================
The Monsters in this world like UT are completely made of mana or sometimes called magic
They feed on mana which exists in all forms of life
Monsters can shape mana into whatever they desire, this is called magic as with enough concentration and training, mana can do all kinds of things
Monsters do not need to eat but require places to have enough mana in the area to sustain themselves
Monsters can reproduce both sexually and asexually. Reproducing sexually is much easier for a monster as with the help of another monster, they can sustain the monster baby with magic that won't be fatal to the monster parent. Reproducing asexually is much harder as the parent monster would need to give a lot of mana to the baby in order to sustain it, if not given enough mana the baby will die, but if given too much the parent would risk dying
Monsters do not have dna or genes but have something called a mana pattern which is something that is apart of a monster soul that what makes a monster form
Monsters release excess mana from their souls, as they get older their soul starts to release more mana to the point where it releases too much mana which leads to the monster death
Monsters do not have genders but have identities, depending on how they view themselves their bodies will form in order to match with how they view themselves
Monsters cannot truly feel physical pain, they can feel certain impacts on their bodies but lets say their arm was cut off they wouldn't be screaming in pain
There exists monsters called Wild monsters
These monsters are basically the same as regular monsters however they have more animalistic behaviors
These type monsters are very peaceful as they only feed on mana which is everywhere, there might be some that are territorial but very few are aggressive
There are some wild monsters that do hunt other monsters or wild monsters, however those kind of monsters are rare and for a wild monster to hunt other monsters is also rare
Monster souls are less physical and more made of condensed/concentrated mana, a being cannot feel or touch a monster, those who try will feel nothing, they will still feel contact with something but just feel nothing
A monster soul cannot persist after death, once a monster body has taken enough damage or fatal damage their body and soul will dust
=====================================
BOSS MONSTERS/HALF BOSS MONSTERS
=====================================
Boss Monsters are powerful monsters that can rival humans in physical abilities and have access to powerful magic
They are immortal (The aging kind) and get more powerful as they age, Boss monsters can also be resurrected however the soul must be intact and must be in area where there is a lot of mana
They cannot lose their immortality when they have a child but instead become weaker, losing a quarter or half their power
If the child were to die, they would not get back their power or at least in large quantities
They are nicknamed Demi-Gods due to their immense power
Boss Monsters can summon what is known as a magic weapon
Each Magic weapon is unique to each boss monster and the weapon itself has all sorts of different effects that synergize with the boss monster
A Boss monster magic weapon is one with them, so if the magic weapon gets destroyed it can repair overtime automatically however this does prevent the boss monster from summoning their weapon intill the repair is done
Half boss monsters are the byproduct of a monster and boss monster having a child, they are still more powerful than regular monsters but are weaker than true boss monsters
Half boss monsters are immortal (The aging kind), but they cannot be resurrected, and when they have a child they don’t lose their power
Half boss monsters do have magic weapons but cannot be repaired automatically and takes a lot longer
Half boss monsters do get stronger as they age however it is at a much slower rate than a true boss monster
Boss monsters has they age become stronger however this increase in power only increases every 1,000 years and for half boss monsters it’s every 2,000 years
This increase of power is specifically their magic power, mana, and physical capabilities

SOULLESS BEINGS/GHOST MONSTERS
=====================================
There are 2 types of soulless beings in Modded!Tale
EM Soulless: These beings do not have a soul but possess some sort of trait or DT that allows them to keep their emotions however the connection between them and their emotions are very loose
EL Souless: These beings do not have a soul and do not have any traits or DT making them completely emotionless
This can happen to both humans and monsters through mostly artificial means but both have different effects when becoming soulless
EM Soulless
For monsters if they become soulless, they cannot use magic or at least cannot use magic at its fullest, when becoming soulless they also lose parts of themself becoming someone different then who they once were
For Humans if they become soulless, they show no emotion (this doesn't mean they have no emotions its just harder for them to express it) becoming more logical, they also lose the power their souls give them
EL Soulless
If either a human or monster were to become soulless without any traits or DT in them, they simply become empty unmoving and uncaring, they are equilvent to dead bodies but without being well dead
Ghost Monsters are monsters that do not have a physical form, this is because they simply do not have enough mana to form a physical body for them, this makes them immune to physical attacks however it is possible to hurt them with magic
Ghost monsters appear soulless in their ghost form and while they do not appear to have a soul, it is entirely misleading to call them soulless
There soul is there body or their entire being as once they found and possess a vessel their body forms into a soul and simply goes into the vessel
A ghost monster might not be able to fully combine with their vessel becoming more aggressive or wild (This does not happen to all ghost monsters)
However once they do fully combine with their vessel they will be able to interact with physical things but do lose their physical attack immunity
=====================================
DETERMINATION/MAGIC/SOUL ABSORBING
=====================================
Determination has the color of gold and is contained in every human soul no matter the trait
Determination is also present in boss monster souls however its in small quantities, while half boss monsters have no determination, the same as regular monsters
Determination can prevent death for monsters but for humans they end up as a ghost/spirit or just a floating soul
Determination when mixed with high amounts of magic or is exposed to magic for a long period of time, it turns red
To be clear Determination color is gold but when in a soul the color becomes clear/invisible and when exposed to magic for long periods or mixed with magic outside of a soul it’s color turns red
Soul absorbing is the action of a monster or human absorbing another soul
Monsters can absorb other monster souls but this provides nothing to the monster host, it is merely an act to prevent a monster soul from dusting but this action is very dangerous as more mana is now needed to for the souls and if not carefully handled can prevent death to both monsters
Humans cannot absorb other human soul, however it is possible for a human ghost/spirit to attach themselves to another human, this can only happen if both the spirit and human have the same trait and while it’s possible for a spirit with a different soul trait than the human to attach themselves to them, the connection is more loose
Humans can absorb monster souls and monsters can absorb human soul, by doing this it grants them unimaginable power but is different depending on the leader
The leader is the being who absorbed the soul, they have the most control over their body
If a monster is the leader and absorbs 10 human souls, their power becomes equal to that of a god, this is the same for boss monsters too
If a human is the leader and absorbs 10 monster souls, their power becomes something that defies a god power
Both when absorbed 10 souls can kill each other as their powers are equal but if both were to fight it would cause the destruction of a whole universe or timeline
There are many different types of magic with 5 being the most well known these are
Soul Magic- An Advanced form of magic that ignores most defenses to attack the soul directly, the Magic itself can take any shape
Creative Magic- A basic form of magic that allows the monster to create things using magic like barriers, spears, and etc, it uses raw magic as it doesn’t do anything special
Ritual Magic- An Advanced form of magic that humans can use however the process is very long and requires certain requirements to work properly/correctly
Elemental Magic- An Semi Advanced form of magic that allows the monsters to either create certain physical things like Fire and Water or manipulate those physical things like Earth and Air, there are many more elements but those 4 are the most basic
Effect Magic- An Semi Advanced form of magic that allows the monster to apply certain effects to magic or themselves like making a certain magic attack home on the target or speed up a monster

I have always said that the things rich people do with their millions or billions of dollars are boring af. Like yeah ok we get it you have 4 houses in 4 separate vacation towns that are all shaped like white shoeboxes and have interior decor that belongs at a hospital waiting room. Yeah you have a yacht. Yes you have fancy ass clothes that all look horrendously ugly and/or look the same as stuff you could’ve bought at the forever 21 clothing store for $20.
If I had a billion dollars, I would want to donate a ton to charity, but also to do some crazy cool stuff and fulfill my childhood dreams of fantastical epicness. And also majorly piss of jerks because when you’re rich you can get away with shit 24/7.
Like I’d probably buy some cool old Victorian house or manor house or something and refurbish it so it keeps all of its original style but won’t collapse on my head. A ghost that supposedly haunts it is preferable. I have always had a passion for antiques so I’d probably fill it with weird cool antiques and crystals and also a greenhouse and a huge fish tank (for my huge catfish and piranhas and such that I very much want to buy)
I’d travel all over to a shit ton of cool places like the Hang Song Doong cave which is like a little forest world underground, and sometimes has tigers (look it up it’s absolutely bonkers) or the remote areas of the Amazon rain forest, or Niue, the tropical island that has migrating whales, fossilized coral forests, and the most turquoise water I’ve ever seen. Also their national currency has yoda and pikachu on it. Niue rocks what can I say
In terms of clothes. I do not give a single shit about Gucci or Chanel I would probably continue to buy all my clothes thrift shopping. I love books more than life itself and would probably have a giant library like in the movies with old books and a wheely ladder of course. In terms of food I also do not care as long as it tastes home-cooked and is yummy, I would absolutely die before I touched a single leaf of arugula and a scoop of caviar on a fancy plate that costs $500.
Also. In terms of pissing off horrible jerks. I would probably buy all the stuff I could from the British Museum and give it back to the countries it belongs to free of charge. Sir Fop Duke of Biscuitshire or whoever shall now become my British arch enemy who I will constantly cleverly defeat
I came up will all this shit which I would definitely love to do in like 10 minutes. Clear and damning evidence that rich people are 99.9% boring and are turning hedonism boring too
hedonism is good actually rich people just suck at it
