Fair [Cihro]
[218-219]
Brunch wasn’t the only thing on Cihro’s docket for his date with Raidak. If they had the whole afternoon to themselves, he would use every minute he could. With so much of his time demanded by world-saving only paused by sleep, he understood the value of every second.
They had taken to strolling the streets after eating, but it didn’t take Cihro long to turn to Raidak. “Wanna race?”
Raidak met him with a competitive gleam in his eyes. “Where?”
Cihro pointed. “The western gates.”
“Flying, I presume?”
“You know it.”
Without warning or countdown, Cihro shot off. Raidak gave a startled bark and ran after him briefly on foot, then lifted off half a second after. It wasn’t fair—Cihro had the jump on most people besides Hope—but it was all in good fun.
Westruun whipped by too quickly to admire. With a proper skyport, having a bird’s eye view of the city wouldn’t be a novelty for long. Between the Yuminor Observatory and Greystone Tower, looking down on the city was mostly reserved for the scholars and spellcasters and the skyships that passed overhead.
It wasn’t a short sprint—the race took about five minutes even at top speed. Cihro knew the city better than Raidak, but he realized early on he didn’t stand a chance. Raidak could’ve left him in the dust, but he had the decency to humour him by pretending to match his speed. Not enough to lose on purpose—in the last five hundred feet, Raidak vanished in a flare of green magic and reappeared on the city ramparts.
The guards posted along the wall jumped and spun their crossbows on Raidak, lowering them when they registered who it was. Cihro closed in half a minute later, waving them off.
Cihro preserved his dignity by landing with grace and not stumbling to a halt. He wasn’t winded, exactly—he wouldn’t have been able to sprint that long on foot so well, but he’d exerted himself by channeling his speed through the winged boots.
“No fair,” Cihro said. He grinned, though—how could he be mad, with how Raidak preened at the win?
“You never laid out any rules,” Raidak pointed out. “You forfeit fairness the second you took off.”
“I don’t put much stock in rules, I figured one of us would break ‘em. I’m just glad you didn’t start casting spells at me.”
“Is there a prize for first place?”
“The satisfaction of beating Westruun’s uncatchable crime lord. Oh, and this.” Cihro flipped him off. Raidak laughed. “I knew I couldn’t win, especially if you were a dragon, so I had to take my advantage where I could.”
“I don’t think I’ll be flying over Westruun as a dragon anytime soon,” Raidak said, casting a mournful expression over the city rolled out behind them.
“Yeah, best not to.” Cihro also gave Westruun a lingering look. Beyond the eastern walls, crops laid trampled and razed by Tiamat’s cult. A path of buildings, even the intermittent towers, were chipped and missing chunks of themselves, mapping a trail of destruction. It would be a while before any dragons were welcome or tolerated in the skies no matter their intent.
Westruun wouldn’t forget anytime soon. It was for Raidak’s protection as much as the city’s peace of mind.
Cihro turned his attention to the Bramblewood. Its boughs thickened with spring, melding into the mountains that sloped then speared into the sky. The seasons would cycle, the moons would wax and wane, and Westruun would rebuild and nurture its crops back to health.
“Wanna fly further?” Cihro asked. “No race, just flying.”
“Where to this time?”
“The mountains.”
Raidak considered, stroking his chin.
“We’re a bit all over the place, so I think it’s fine,” Cihro assured. “So long as we’re in pairs. If there’s an emergency, you can teleport us back.”
“You do realize what a powerful spell that is, don’t you?”
“Sure I do. I’ve been with the Thorns since the beginning, I know how long it took the others to learn it. But an emergency is good cause to use a powerful spell, right?”
“True enough. Lead the way.”
Cihro floated off the wall, Raidak gliding leisurely after him. It took them longer to reach the mountainside at a relaxed speed, and they flew in and settled like a pair of birds. Cihro swung his legs over a ledge and patted the empty space beside him. Raidak joined him, hands coming to rest above his knees.
The distance from Westruun helped conceal some of its wounds. It looked more itself, even if they knew better. It was more whole than broken. Cihro breathed a sigh, not realizing his shoulders had clung onto some tension. Raidak did the same in his peripheral. His hands left his legs and settled flat onto the ground by his hips.
Cihro brushed his pinky against the side of Raidak’s hand. Raidak glanced first at their hands, eyebrows up, then at Cihro’s face.
“Can I hold your hand?” Cihro asked, stroking again, so Raidak couldn’t confuse it for an accident.
Raidak nodded. Cihro slipped his fingers under Raidak’s hand and transferred it to his lap, knuckles up. It was his right hand, the scales the deep red of hot coals ready to ignite. The scales were more concentrated on the back of his hand—Cihro traced them lightly, the edges where they met skin and where they overlapped each other. They vanished under his sleeve, no doubt climbing his arms. Cihro wondered how much skin they covered—he’d never seen Raidak wearing robes that that didn't end at the wrist.
Raidak’s arm, sheathed in form-fitting black armour, was one of the first parts of him Cihro had seen. His face, shaded by a hooded cloak, had mostly been chin and a sneer. Even though all they’d done was sit next to each other as spectators, Cihro had felt a frisson of fear. Power and magic had always enveloped him. He had the power not just to enact change through his magic, but by his tenacity, ambition, and at the time, greed.
These were hands that had originally unnerved Cihro, belonging to someone working for the opposing side. Hands that had toiled away at the experiments fighting in Cinder’s arena—the same experiments that had likely been used as part of the siege on Westruun. Raidak was constantly inflicted with his former work terrorizing the people he now swore to protect. The ramifications of his actions—his legacy—weren't just immediate, but lasting, at least until the Thorns snuffed them out.
Cihro didn't think of Raidak’s hands that way anymore, but it must have been a challenge for him. Cihro had lived the consequences of his own actions, albeit on a smaller, more intimate scale. The bigger they grew, the larger their footprints.
Cihro tried not to think in balancing scales. If they all tried to keep perfect harmony between those they harmed and those they helped, they’d lose their damn minds. What benefitted one person could have condemned another. They could only do what they needed to survive and what they thought was right, even if it turned out to be wrong later. Some wrongs could be righted, others had to be worked at. The Gilded Thorns could share their thoughts with each other and come to a collective decision to minimize damage. Raidak had been in a cult—effectively isolated even if he was part of a group. He hadn’t had good people to hold him accountable like Cihro had.
Cihro didn’t know if he considered himself good and moral, but he had at least learned that being good was a job never finished. The churning tapestry of the world would always have its imbalances and injustices. Raidak might not have been able to permanently undo the damage, but he was actively fighting. His hands belonged on their side—they ferried them around, they healed Orla, they helped depose Arkhan, they helped keep a mask away from the cult for as long as possible.
Hands that belong linked with his.
“I wanted to apologize,” Cihro said, ending the comfortable silence. Raidak had, predictably, turned a new shade of pink while Cihro held his hand. Cihro smiled, rubbing his thumb along the length of each finger one at a time, feeling each bone and crease and nail, hoping the touch wouldn't distract from what he was saying. “I didn’t mean anything by being crass earlier. I had to ask because ‘companionship’ can have a lot of double meanings. When you go to an inn and ask for companionship it usually means you’re asking for somebody to have sex with.”
Raidak huffed a laugh. “See, I wouldn’t know these things.”
“I’m not trying to take advantage of you or anything. I wasn’t asking because I wanted to—I mean I would like to eventually—but I’m not trying to rush you into it.”
“I trust that you’re not. I know you well enough to know when you’re sincere. You’ve become equally good at showing your feelings as you are at hiding them.”
“I've learned when to shut it off,” Cihro agreed. “You can’t blame me for enjoying flustering a dragon, though.”
“I’ll try not to make it so easy, but it’ll take some practice.”
“You’re a quick study.”
Raidak shuffled closer so their knees skimmed one another. “Thank you for today. I’m…glad I got to experience a date.”
The end of his sentence was hidden, written invisibly: glad he got to experience a date before the potential end.
Cihro’s smile was all warmth; he laced their fingers together and squeezed. “My pleasure—thanks for suggesting it. I’m glad you got to experience it, too. You make a good date.”

Thess vs TLOVM S3, Ep 12
Well, Arcane S2 comes out in just over a week, and I wanted to get TLOVM all watched before then, so I think it's safe to say that I Have Done It. Or I will have in the next half-hour or so. That said ... let's go!
'Glorious' new body, huh? Well. It's a look. I guess. I'm sure someone's into that. Rule 34, y'know.
Y'know, Thorshan ... Raidak ... whatever ... that's not what Krishna meant about becoming death. I mean, I guess you're going for the Oppenheimer thing, but ... seriously, they meant time-- Oh, never mind, fuck it, whatever.
GROG!
YES! GO, PIKE! YOU-- Wait. Why is your shield hellfire-orange now?!?
...Good outlook, Grog, buuuuuuut...
This body what-now?!?
Ofuck THIS WASN'T SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN UNTIL THE WHISPERED ONE FIGHT AT LEAST A WHOLE STORY ARC FROM NOW!
Wow. I just got a screen snip at the best possible time.
(Also, screen-snip is a STUPID-ASS NAME FOR IT.)
YES! NICE SHOT, VEX!
Yeah, no, Pike-- nononono... Fuck.
WaitWUT?!? WHEN DID THIS BECOME TETRIS?!?
That's not going to comfort the man who made an open-ended deal with a death god because of a recent "chance taken"!
Actuallyyyyyyy ... she was more fuelled by ... like ... not having a whole bunch of people die, but ... you know...
Can ... can he actually punch through magic? I mean, hopefully that's not some Prismatic Wall shit...
GOIN' MINXIE! YES! Haven't seen that in, like ... most of a season!
Message for anyone counting uses of Wild Shape right now: FUCK OFF AND ENJOY THE SPECTACLE!
Oooooooooooooooooh shiiiiiiiiiiiiiit...
Did ... did you actually plan to get fired there? ...No pun intended?
...I guess he can punch through magic.
.........She has. A plan. ...And I think I know what it is. Feeblemind wouldn't work here. But... She's learned a few things about connections and roots...
She has. A plan. And she has an Earth Elemental form. Buuuuut that's still gotta hurt to see.
'Fancied?!? You do know how weak a word that is, right? 'Fancied' is "you thought she was hot and wanted to hit that"! ...Then again, what would Raishan know about anything else?
Oop.
Here we go.
Roots ... and connections.
WAIT WAIT WAIT NOT WITH THE ORTHAX-GUN!
At least the Orthax-gun probably didn't kill her. Them. It. Whatever.
Oooooooh, Percy...
To quote Marisha herself... "It's a power play; I love it!"
...Ooooooor maybe not-- OMG YOU WENT TO THAT CALLBACK!
I don't know if the Raven Queen's going to like this...
Yeah no.
He's not returning to the After! He needs to be released to get to an after!
...Was ... what that an answer?
That's what you think, Allura.
Kima is so done with this shit.
...Which ... yeah, you have and you did and you will, Champion of the Raven Queen.
Heh. That's going to come into play later, that little feather...
"Against"-- Yeaaaaaaaah.
...Ooooooooh this is creepy.
...They're all trapped in there?!? OH EWWWWWW!
Oh, shut the fuck up, Orthax.
Orthax ... shut. The fuck. UP.
Come oooooooooooon...
Oh. Ooooooooh no. Nonono poor Percy...
...WHAT?!? NO!
.........oh, Percy, nooooooo...
FUCK. OFF. ORTHAX.
Come on, Vex...
No, not to HIM; to PERCY!
Thank you!
brb crying
Aaaaaaaand the feather.
N'awwwwwwww, Vax!
Yes! YEEEEEES!
FUCK YOU, ORTHAX!
WHOA. Literally, apparently.
WOOHOO! BRB CRYING SOME MORE!
ALSO LAUGHING OMG DE ROLO!
Emon being rebuilt and-- Statue of Uriel awwwww!
OMG VEX ILU SO MUCH!
That's ... ominous... WTF?!?
That is ALSO ominous.
AND SO IS THAT.
GROG, SHUT UP. Yeaaaah okay.
We had to have the entire group cheer "GILMORE!" at least once. Something was missing with Gilmore's involvement until just that second, and now it is all complete.
...I am going to find out who wrote this and I don't know what I'm going to feed them for that Meat Man reference but it will probably not be JUST bees. (...possibly also some wasps. And if you get that reference, hello, fellow cross-fandom person!)
I'm sure they've spent Winter's Crest at Whitestone at least once in the campaign. Or possibly that was Emon; I think they had like two Winter's Crests in Emon. Wasn't one of them something about chasing some kind of demon? Meh, anyway, this is a very off-season Easter egg hunt, this entire scene.
...Like Grog talking about loving shopping, when Travis has been known for several campaign to hate shopping 'episodes'.
...Okay, what's he gonna do? Ah ... he's going to leave in a less ... antagonistic way.
And the Aramente ... with Vax?!? And ... a squire to the Voice of the Tempest as the wrong character?!? BWAHAHA.
Ooooooh here's the song.
N'awwwwww. Montage of happy.
...Except for that yick on his wrist...
...aaaand except for the cultist chanting--
...the eyes ... or lack thereof-- GAH FUCK!
Well. Who's glad they announced that their S4 got greenlit after THAT last frame or ten?!?
Now. WHO WROTE THIS?!? Brandon Auman, and Sam. I've talked about both of them before, but I think I'm starting to get a feel for when there's an episode that Sam had a hand in writing? I think it's the trolly little Easter eggs. That's just ... a very Sam thing. But he and Brandon, particularly together, seem to be able to get you laughing, ram a dagger into your heart while you're laughing, and then make you laugh again while you're sobbing with the pain of it. (Also Meredith Kecskemety, whose name I will learn to pronounce.)
Well, that's that. I so very much want S4. I need to see what they do with the Whispered One arc. I really do.
Oh. And. Before I go watch Omn1's take on this ep and then take a week or so's breather before hitting Arcane S2? That screenshot I mentioned:

Apparently the Makuta actually replaced Raidak, Gavla and Kirop's masks when they were corrupted and I'm wondering how? Did they bring specially made masks that look like theirs? Did they make them after?

Formal [Cihro]
[214]
Iona set herself up in a guest bedroom on the second floor beside Krusk and across from Raidak. Cihro found her with an open bag on the bed, removing a toothbrush and paste. Theotae had also come with a bag, but only Iona’s remained. The bed had space enough for two.
The earlier argument haunted the house, leaving a sour taste in his gums. It didn’t suit Brambleview anymore. It was a pale memory compared to his hurt against Caius and Aritian, but all the same, the tension reminded him a little of how he felt at the time, let him sympathize with how Iona and Elspeth must’ve felt now. He’d never been one to enjoy the spotlight, especially when it illuminated one’s fissures and vulnerabilities.
He tapped his knuckles on the open door. “Hey.”
Iona didn’t startle, but surfaced from her thoughts to focus on him. She was still sheathed in armour, but her quiver reclined against the foot of the bed and her belts were piled like sleeping snakes on the vanity. “Cihro.”
“Oh, no more Lanna? Are we past formalities?”
“You never used them to start.”
“Never stopped you before.”
“No.”
He stepped in and drew the door partially closed behind him. She raised her eyebrows.
“I wanted to check on you,” he explained.
Confusion tangled her expression. “Wouldn’t you rather talk with Elspeth?”
“I mean, I can, but I know what’s going on with Elspeth and I don’t think she wants everyone kicking down her door right now. I’ll let her come to me if she wants.”
“That was my plan.”
“She will.”
Even though Iona was reserved, she wasn’t difficult for Cihro to read. He almost didn't want to, to give her that privacy. He had to watch for signals that someone was going to turn on him in a meeting, draw a weapon, if they were lying. Probing for the hidden meaning under the surface—the details of a trap he couldn’t afford to miss—was force of habit. Skills he'd learned for safety's sake followed him into his personal life whether he liked it or not.
She slowly rolled her toothbrush between her fingers, eyes flitting to the window, face drawn. She didn’t look like she fully believed him but had no choice but to trust him—which might’ve been difficult with a man who stole from her girlfriend every time he set foot in the Raethran estate.
“You know her,” Iona conceded. Her statements, however short, were layered: I thought I knew her better.
“Elspeth feels a little more strongly than I do, particularly about injustices—you know, Bahamut and all—particularly if those injustices hurt people she cares about.”
“That being you and Day?”
“And her mom. And Orla.”
She fixed her gaze on him again. Her eyes, usually hard as stones, had become pools. They were black in the low light with the occasional freckle of brown from a taper. They reflected some of the hurt from earlier, as if she expected anger from him as well, but they were also open, ready for an explanation, for the surface to change.
“It’s kind of you to think of me,” she said.
He smiled. “You’re dating my sister. Even if you weren’t, it doesn’t take a genius to see that you care about us. I don’t hate everyone from Syngorn, and you know I don’t hate Theotae. I know you and her wanna make it better than it is.”
“We plan to. It’s overdue.”
“Understatement of the year.”
The corner of her nose twitched. Cihro’s smile didn’t waver. Iona’s austerity had never put him off. His best friend was one of the most introverted people alive. Their calm and thoughtful approach to things put him at ease—he understood what it was to be reserved, whether by nature or necessity.
“We might be in-laws someday,” he teased.
Iona pinkened. She resumed unpacking to break eye contact, lining her toiletries on the bedside. “It’s possible.”
“Obviously I’m not a stand-in for Theotae, but I’m here to talk if you want to. Day is, too. We’ve all experienced Elspeth’s anger at one point or another, but she always comes back. That’s just part of the nature of our group, I think. Any lashing out usually isn’t personal.”
Iona’s hands slowed. She smoothed a fold in her bag.
“Your advice isn’t unwarranted,” she said, “or unwanted,” she added quickly. “Thank you. I’ll keep that in mind.”
Cihro nodded, backing towards the door. “I’ll leave you to it? Unless you wanted to talk now?”
Iona shook her head. “I’d like to be alone.”
Cihro saluted and exited, soft as a whisper, latching the door behind him.

Gorumara National Park
Gorumara National Park
Gorumara National Park (গোরুমারা জাতীয় ବ in Bengal) is located in the state of West Bengal. Located in the foothills of the Himalayas, it is also a national park. The Gorumara Sanctuary is adorned with grasslands, forests, and so on. The national park is known for its Indian ganda. The Ministry of Environment and Forests of the Government of India declared it the best protected area in the country in 2009.
History-- Gorumara has been a protected forest since 1895. It was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1949 due to the large number of rhinos already in existence and the possibility of increasing their numbers. On January 31, 1994, Gorumara was recognized as a national park. Originally starting with a 7 (km) 2 area, Gorumara has now expanded to an area of 80 (km) 2.
Geography --- The national park is located in the Malbazar sub-division of Jalpaiguri district in the state of West Bengal. Gorumara National Park is located in the Terai belt of the eastern Himalayas. Wave-like forests in the highlands, riverine grasslands are a feature of this national park, and in West Bengal it is called the Duars. Located on the plains on the banks of the Murti River and the Raidak River, the main river is the Jaldhaka River, a tributary of the Brahmaputra River. Therefore, it is a watershed between the Ganges and the Brahmaputra. Located near Gorumara National Park, there is the Jaldapada National Park and the Chhapramari Wildlife Sanctuary. The area of Gorumara National Park is about 79.99 sq km. . Climate: Temperatures range from 10-21 ° C between November and February, 24-27 ° C in March-April and 27-37 ° C in May-October. The monsoon rains here from mid-May to mid-October. The average annual rainfall is 382 cm.
History-- Human habitation has never been seen in the national park. The forest department of the park was built during the British rule in Bengal. In Bengali, all history is recorded again. There are many small villages around Sarumati, Budhuram, Bichbhanga, Chatua, Kailipur and Murti around Gorumara. The locals make a lot of money from tourism and forestry.
Plants-- Some of the main trees in the forest are: willow, shaguan, spruce, forest mustard, and so on. Bamboo forests and grasslands are also found on the banks of the river. Various types of orchids are also found in the forest.

Link
The source of the Brahmaputra River is in southwest Tibet. It is known as the Yarlung Tsangpo River because it flows from the crest/ summit. The river flows through south Tibet, through huge canyons in the Himalayan mountain ranges, and into Arunachal Pradesh (India). It is known as Dihang in Arunachal Pradesh.

what is (oc) doing at the beach?
had this idea lying in bed on my vacation 🌊⛱️
ada: pretending to be a lifeguard so she can look sexy in her red swimsuit and gear on the lifeguard chair. nobody hired her but she actually knows cpr and can breathe underwater so they can't really fight her on it
cadiana: playing beach ball or chicken with folks, in the water and out. eventually sits to draw what they see
cihro: splashing and annoying his brother in the water or taking a walk along the shore, holding hands with raidak
crow: feeding the gulls, then getting swarmed by them so she starts eldritch blasting them in an explosion of feathers. crow is asked to leave the beach but she just goes somewhere further down to makeout or relax with di. she spends a lot of time picking sand out of her hooves
genevieve: letting ida bury her in the sand and turn her lower half into a mermaid. it takes a while. then they make sandcastles together and have a picnic. evie eventually takes ida out into the water on her shoulders and throws her in over and over. they end the day with ice cream ofc
iona: reading a book under an umbrella after applying sunscreen to theotae. if she dozes off she wakes up with a bit of sunburn on her legs as the sun moved her shade
murtagh: went into the water, but immediately came back out b/c it was salty. after that he goes to explore the rock pools and look at creatures. if you can rent boats, he'll take folks out on it to fish or just sail around, enjoying the breeze
nepenthe: swimming proper where her feet don't touch the ground, diving under to feel the temperature cool where it's deeper. eventually comes back to lounge beside vierna
redback: floating out in the water on her back, letting the waves rock her up and down. enjoying a drink on the rocks or jumping off a small cliff, challenging folks to make big splashes
union: wading around where the water reaches his shins and picking up rocks to skip, sunbathing without burning. he's harried everyone into wearing sunscreen and making sure everyone is fed and hydrated
vesuria: vesuria is not at the beach. she hates the beach. but if she has to be there she's keeping a respectable distance while doing stretch routines or someone is coaching her into the water while holding her hand. she also seems like the type to dig a big hole and stick her legs in
vierna: sitting under an umbrella people-watching
