What a weekend! I had the pleasure of not only watching my awesome husband run his dream race, but I also got to tag along with his amazing team for a little bit. Together, they have lost over 1000lbs!!! They ran hills, they ran morning, noon and night, they ran on 2 hours of sleep, they ran in heat that felt like 100 degrees, up hills, down hills, through the desert, and through cities. To say that they are inspiring is an understatement. So today, while they are recovering, I dedicate my run to them. Thinking about them and all the other ragnarians I had the pleasure of meeting this weekend, I broke my 1 mile time, and my 5K time! I ran my first 12 minute mile and finished 5k in 39 minutes! Next year, I hope to run with you guys!! 🙌🏼 💞 #fftfl #ragnardelsol

Questioning Sanity... Again.

It's been a weird year for races. In April, I ran a half along a canal in Peoria - the 4 bathroom stops promised throughout the route must've been trees.. I had to pee from miles 5-13.2 (that extra 0.1 is the distance to the bathroom, if you were wondering...). In May, I ran Disneyland's Tinkerbell Half Marathon- the first time I broke 2 hours (trust me, it was exciting at the time, given my lack of training and sleep...). It was the same day as Mother's Day- my mom actually came to the race with my dad and brothers which was awesome! I'm so grateful she loves me enough to get up ridiculously early and cheer me on! In November, I traveled to Orlando for Disney's Wine and Dine Half Marathon... Unfortunately it was more like the wine and dine 7. A couple hours before the race, we were 'evacuated' out of the pre-race holding field to a few buildings- long story short we started an hour late and ran just 7 miles. It was fun (I got to see Buzz!) and all the rides (that I like) were open in Epcot after. So the disappointment wasn't unbearable! Yesterday, I ran a 15k (my first one! I really have done this backwards). For a race I was doing just to get me out of bed, it was fun! My average mile pace was 30 seconds quicker than my half marathon PR, so that's cool? 2016 already has two events lined up: Phoenix's PF Tchang's 5k + half marathon and Ragnar Relay: Del Sol (currently lined up for 17.5 total). I have no idea how to train for an overnight relay...so instead I decided to just go for something slightly more extreme... So for that extreme, slightly insane decision: In April (possibly sooner), I'll be giving the good ole 26.2 another go. This time my training can take more of a priority. And my goal is realistic: break 4 hours. Finish. Ha. Here's to a lot more miles and a lot less beer!

Surround yourself with friends as crazy as you are. Friends who will complete a 28 hour relay, then stay up late to debate which endurance distance is crazier over a beer, pizzas and tri tip steaks. And yes, it always hurts that much. . .
