All of The Games That I Played In 2023 and What My Game of The Year Is

I have played a lot of video games this year, most of them didn't come out this year and are old games, but I still want to mention them!

I didn't play a lot of video games, mainly due to because I am still in school, so I don't have a lot of time to do that, but I still played some and I all enjoyed and enjoy them! I have played God of War Ragnarök about thirty times this year at least.

So the Game of The Year went to Baldurs Gate Three, which I didn't even know existed but I saw gameplay and some stuff and I will say that it did deserve that award, most of the award winners did. In my opinion, Yuri Lowenthal should have won the Best Game Performance Award because while yes Neil Newborn is a fantastic voice actor I just felt like Yuri did a better job with Peter Parker in Spider-Man 2. But, congratulations to Neil I fucking loved him as Karl Heisenberg in Resident Evil Village and I am happy that he won that award.

So my game of the year in my opinion is Spider-Man 2. I just loved the story and the voice acting was just beautiful. Yes, it was a safe game didn't really go super far with the potential it had and Insomniac had, it was just the most fun I have ever had playing a game since God of War Ragnarök. Also, Venom was dope as fuck!

PlayStation's PC Strategy Is Going Well As Ghost Of Tsushima Was The Best-Selling Game Of May 2024

PlayStation’s PC efforts are paying off, if the latest U.S. Video Game Market Highlights report from analyst group Circana is any indication. That’s because developer Sucker Punch Production’s Ghost of Tsushima, which originally launched on PlayStation 4 back in 2020, was the best-selling game of May 2024 in the U.S. And that’s almost assuredly due to the recent PC release of Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut on May 16. 

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut hit PC almost four years after the game’s initial launch on PS4, which speaks to PlayStation’s PC release strategy it detailed last month. It said its live-service games, like this year’s Helldivers 2 or the upcoming 5v5 hero shooter Concord, will launch day-and-date on PC, but its tentpole single-player games, like Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut and God of War Ragnarök (hitting PC this September), will launch at later dates.

For May 2024, content spending fell 3% compared to May 2023, down to $3.6 billion, even despite a 13% growth in mobile content spending. However, that 13% increase in mobile spending was offset heavily by a 40% drop in console content spending, according to Circana executive director Mat Piscatella. He attributes the May 2024 console spending decline (compared to May 2023) to the strength of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s launch last year. 

Elsehwere in the report, Piscatella says video game hardware spending declined 40% as well when compared to May 2023, down to $202 million. “Through May, all current generation hardware platforms are showing double-digit percentage declines year-on-year in 2024, with Switch showing the most significant drop,” Piscatella writes on X (formerly Twitter). 

The PlayStation 5 led May 2024’s hardware market in unit and dollar sales, with the Switch in second for unit sales and the Xbox Series X/S in second for dollar sales. Throughout each console’s 43 months on the market, the PS5 is up by 8% compared to the PS4 and the Xbox Series X/S is down 13% compared to the Xbox One. 

May spending on video game accessories dropped 8% when comparing May 2024 to May of last year, and the PlayStation Portal was the best-selling accessory in dollar sales for the month – it’s also the best-selling accessory for the entire year.

So ... I totally missed that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth just came out last week?? The Sequel to the game that took over my life in 2020. Like, how?! Why is it March already?

My list of games I haven't played gets longer and longer. I'm seriously lagging behind. Haven't played Horizon Burning Shores DLC or RE 7 Separate Ways yet.... and God of War Ragnarök just waits to be finished too. (Although I don’t have high hopes for that one, The first 2 hours just didn’t click with me,for some reason - but I‘ll give it another good shot)

I think I need to set some priorities....

I wish I had not deleted my old tumblr. I wish I had not burnt my teenage diaries at 18. I had done so in the hope of raising like a phoenix from the ashes. Do over. Do better this time. Operate from a clean slate. Ragnarök. As a child I had hopes for the world - all humans leaving the planet in a spaceship and destroying everything that had been. Subsequently distributing the planet to all humans, everyone would get a house, a garden and there would be no pollution, no war, only prosperity and harmony. In those visions there was a lot of green, green meadows, white houses, smiles and laughter, happy faces. In a way this has been a theme my whole life. I had wished to start anew, over and over and over. So many times. Until I couldn’t look ahead anymore, because too many things had happened. I realised that I missed myself, longed to be me again, longed to be back there, longed to be again the girl I forgot I had hated so much.
