I have a love-hate kind of relationship with this book, and here are the reasons: . I hate this book because it starts out as a light read. It makes one feel high with giddiness and curiosity, but next thing you know, you are being thrown with boulders as big as a two-story house just to bring you down from the sky. . Which brings us to the reason I love this literary piece: because it made me feel those things. . Beautiful, heartbreaking, and poignant. Those are the three words that would best describe this novel as it tackles both the horrifying process of conversion therapy and the experiences of LGBTQ+ kids who never got the support when they needed it the most. .
