Initial creation:
I first started designing him on a whim for a comic. It actually worked out quite well and has since been the basis of how my humanoid Zhask looks.
I started a short comic series featuring Zhask and his besties. At this point, despite having a favourite person to look forward to, I was extremely lonely. Everyone got mad at me for even the littlest mistakes, I was constantly fatigued, I gave up on life at least twice, absolutely out of control. To add salt, my favourite person also was unliked by all of her classmates so I had to take care of her too. I had to build her up, even slightly, while barely receiving any myself.
I even had a manic attack over a laundry incident. Up until today I can't enter a public shower or wash my clothes by hand OR hang them on a wire because it fucking HURTS. I had to get a psychiatrist and a month or two off school. But despite my wanting to leave I couldn't. No transfer because I've only a few more months left. No longer leave because my favourite person was doing terribly without me so I HAD to come back because if I'm not there then she won't make it.
And so I poured that. I poured it into Zhask. In some worlds I hurt him. In others he was loved. In a world he loses everyone and everything. In another, he gains a husband in an accepting community.
But in this continuity, I gave him friendships. Help, a shoulder to cry on, unlimited trust, smiles every day. I gave him everything I never had. He is myself if everyone just... loved me.
I did give him hurt. But I gave him love to heal it.
I gave him life. The one thing I lost.

Israel bombs Gaza school-turned-shelter, hits Italian UNIFIL bases in Lebanon
An Israeli airstrike on a school in Gaza on Thursday killed at least 28 people, while the Israeli military said it struck a Hamas command centre. Lebanese military intelligence sources also reported the Israeli army opened fire at an Italian base UNIFIL along the demarcation line with Lebanon on Thursday.
Palestinian Red Crescent said in a statement, referring to the school in Deir al-Balah:
Palestinian Red Crescent teams responded to the 28 killed and 54 injured in the Israeli occupation army’s strike on Rafidah school.
Thursday’s attack was the latest in a series of Israeli strikes on school buildings housing displaced Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, where fighting has been ongoing for more than a year.
Israel strikes Italian UNIFIL bases in Lebanon
Israel on Thursday struck three UNIFIL bases in southern Lebanon, UN mission spokesman Andrea Tenenti told ANSA news agency. The mission includes about 1,000 Italian troops. Two of the outposts are Italian, while the third houses the mission’s headquarters.
Lebanese military intelligence sources said the Israeli army opened fire at an Italian base along the demarcation line with Lebanon on Thursday.
According to the sources, the IDF shelled the UNP 1-31 base on Laboune Hill, in an area under the responsibility of the Italian contingent. According to the same sources, after an Israeli drone flew over the base several times, Israeli artillery opened fire at the entrance of a bunker where Italian soldiers were sheltering.
The attack damaged communication systems between the base and the UNIFIL command in Naqoura. At least two UN peacekeepers were wounded in Nakra, Lebanese military security sources told ANSA news agency. The peacekeepers are Indonesian nationals who were wounded when an Israeli tank opened fire on an observation tower at the base, the Lebanese military said. Local medical sources said the two UN peacekeepers were not seriously injured.
Several cameras at two Italian outposts of UNIFIL bases were hit and destroyed in Naqura, but no Italian military personnel were injured, knowledgeable sources told ANSA news agency.
UN peacekeeping mission
UNIFIL is the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon. The peacekeeping mission was established in 1978 as part of the Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon. Its mission is to help the Lebanese government regain power in the region and restore international peace and security.
UNIFIL peacekeepers are also tasked with ensuring that there are no hostile acts of any kind in their area of operations, as well as protecting humanitarian workers and civilians under imminent threat of physical violence.
On October 1, Israel notified UNIFIL of its intention to launch limited ground incursions into southern Lebanon. The Irish military has previously stated that its troops deployed with UNIFIL “remain steadfast in their determination and resilience to fulfil the mission.”
In late September, as the war against Hamas in Gaza was still raging, Israel dramatically stepped up its fight against Hezbollah – a powerful, heavily armed Iranian proxy group deeply embedded in Lebanese politics – in response to the group firing more than 10,000 rockets into Israel in support of Hamas over the past year.
Blue Line
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the goal of operations across the Blue Line is to push Hezbollah fighters and weapons far enough away from Israel’s northern border to stop rocket fire and allow tens of thousands of Israelis to return to their abandoned homes in the region. The IDF said cross-border ground operations launched in late September in southern Lebanon would be “limited, localised and targeted ground raids based on accurate intelligence.”
Lebanese officials say at least 2,141 people have been killed in Israeli strikes since October 8, 2024 – about half of them since the attack escalated less than a fortnight ago, and at least 22 in strikes on Wednesday alone. More than 10,000 people have been injured, according to the country’s health ministry.
UNIFIL peacekeepers operate along the 75-mile-long Blue Line in southern Lebanon. It is not an official international border, but for nearly five decades it has been designed to keep Lebanese and Israeli forces at a safe distance from each other.
Either side, Israel or Hezbollah, crosses the Blue Line or fires across it without permission from the Lebanese government, in violation of UN Resolution 1701, although such exchanges of fire have become an almost daily occurrence since October 8, 2023. The border is also sometimes crossed by Lebanese farmers and villagers, as it is not always clearly marked.

List of people who can legally be killed in Islam via /r/atheism
Submitted June 25, 2021 at 08:11AM by Abu-Jahl (Via reddit https://ift.tt/2U3G59e) List of people who can legally be killed in Islam
In Islam, you can legally kill people for the following:
Murdering a Muslim - However, a parent cannot be executed for murdering their child (Musnad Ahmad 147, 148). A free man cannot be executed for murdering a slave (Sunan Abu Dawud 4518, Muwatta Malik 1558). A Muslim cannot be executed for murdering a non-Muslim (Sahih Bukhari 6915, Sunan Ibn Majah 2569).
Waging war against Allah and his Messenger - (Quran 5:33) - According to Tafsir Ibn Kathir: "'Wage war' mentioned here means, oppose and contradict, and it includes disbelief, blocking roads and spreading fear in the fairways".
Mischief in the land - (Quran 5:33) - According to Tafsir Ibn Kathir: "Mischief in the land refers to various types of evil".
Leaving Islam - (Sahih Bukhari 6922, Sahih Bukhari 7157, Muwatta Malik 1419)
If a Muslim refuses to pray, he is an apostate and should be killed, according to the majority of Islamic scholars (Islamqa.info). Muhammad threatened to burn people who didn't pray (Sahih Bukhari 2420).
Blapshemy- (Tabarani and Daraqutni record Muhammad said "Whoever curses a Prophet, kill him. Whoever curses my Companions, beat him.") Some more Hadiths: (Sahih Muslim 1801, Sunan Abu Dawud 4361, Sunan Abu Dawud 4349). In Ibn Ishaq's Seerah, there is a long list of people killed by Muhammad for insulting him like Asma bint Marwan, Abu Afak, Nadr ibn al-Harith, Salam ibn Abu al-Huqayq.
Adultery - (Sahih Bukhari 6892, 3635)
Homosexuality - (Sunan Abu Dawud 4462, Tirmidhi 1456, Sunan ibn Majah 2561)
Bestiality, both the person and the animal should be killed - (Sunan Ibn Majah 2564)
Incest - (Sunan Ibn Majah 2564)
Marrying your father's former wife - (Sunan an-Nasa'i 3332)
Magic - (Muwatta Malik 1594, Daraqutni 3/114)
Causing disunity among Muslims - (Sahih Muslim 1852, Sunan Abu Dawud 4762, Bulugh al-Mahram 1236)
If you swear allegiance to a ruler, and someone challenges him, kill the challenger - (Sunan an-Nasa'i 4191, Sunan Ibn Majah 3956)
If allegiance is given to 2 Caliphs, kill the second Caliph (Sahih Muslim 1853)
Spying on Muslims - (Sahih Bukhari 3051)
War captives can be executed, including pubescent boys - (Quran 8:57, Sunan Abu Dawud 4404)
If a slave runs away to non-Muslim land, he can be killed - (Sunan an-Nasa'i 4052, 4053, 4054, 4055, 4056)
Drinking alcohol 3 times or 4 times - (Sunan Abu Dawud 4482, Sunan an-Nasa'i 5562). First and second times are punished by 80 lashes - (Sahih Muslim 1706).
According to the Hanafi and Maliki Schools of Islam, a person should be killed for stealing 4 times - (first time = cut off right hand, second time = cut off left foot, third time = imprisonment, fourth time = death)
Non-Muslims who don't pay jizya - (Quran 9:29) - They can be killed, and their wife and children taken as slaves. According to Tafsir Ibn Kathir: "Therefore, all people of the world should be called to Islam. If anyone of them refuses to do so, or refuses to pay the Jizya they should be fought till they are killed."
According to the Shafi'i and Hanbali Schools of Islam, if a person follows a religion besides Christianity, Judaism or Zoroastrianism, they have to convert to Islam or be killed. There is no jizya option for them. This is based on Quran 9:5. This is why ISIS was simply following Islam when they committed genocide against Yazidis. (Islamqa.info)
According to the Maliki School of Islam, the Qadariyyah should be killed (Muwatta Malik 1631). The Qadariyyah are people who believe in free will, instead of predestination. Muhammad hated the Qadariyyah (Sunan Abu Dawud 4691).
According to Shaikh-al-Islam, Ibn Taymiyyah, Shias should be killed based on this hadith: (Al-Sarim al-Maslool book, pages 582-583) "Ali said he heard the Messenger of Allah say: Do you want me to show you a way on how you can be among the people of Paradise? There will be who appear after us nicknamed 'rafidah' (rejectors). If you discover them, then kill them because they are polytheists." This is why Sunni groups regularly kill Shias, because Shias are considered to be non-Muslims by many Sunni scholars.
A Dhimmi (non-Muslim allowed to lived in an Islamic state) can be killed for violating the conditions of his covenant. This includes: (1) having sex with a Muslim woman or marrying her; (2) concealing spies of hostile forces; (3) leading a Muslim away from Islam; (4) killing a Muslim; (5) or mentioning something impermissible about Allah, the Prophet, or Islam. (Reliance of the Traveller Page 609)
It is completely halal for Muslims to kill non-Muslims who aren't Dhimmis. They are known as Harbis - Imam Abu Hanifah said, regarding a non-Muslim who is killed, “There is no retaliation (against the killer) and the diyah (blood money) is not to be paid, because the blood of the disbeliever is permissible (to shed) unless it is established that he has a covenant or is under dhimmah” (Al-Hawi al-Kabir). Imam Ibn Qudamah mentioned the Harbi (the non-Muslim who is not a Dhimmi) and said, “Shedding his blood is permissible without exception, just like swine” (Al-Mughni).
Abu Hurairah reported the Apostle of Allaah as saying “An infidel and the one who killed him will never be brought together in Hell." (Sunan Abu Dawud 2495, Grade: Sahih). Muslims who kill infidels go straight to heaven, while infidels burn in hell.
Remember, this is a perfect religion from All-Merciful, All-Compassionate Allah. Not a cult created by a 7th century lunatic.

The books "Al-Tahdhir min Fitnat Al-Takfir" and "Sayhat Nadhir" تصفح برقم المجلد > Group 2 > Volume 2: `Aqidah > The Sects > The books "Al-Tahdhir min Fitnat Al-Takfir" and "Sayhat Nadhir" Fatwa no. 21517 Q: Some people ask about the two books entitled "Al-Tahdhir min Fitnat Al-Takfir (Warning against Accusing Others of Disbelief)" and "Sayhat Nadhir (the Cry of a Warner)" compiled by `Aly Hasan Al-Halaby The two books call to the Madh-hab (school of jurisprudence) of Irja', which holds that actions are not a fundamental condition upon which the soundness of Iman (Faith) depends, and relate this opinion to Ahl-ul-Sunnah wal-Jama`ah (adherents to the Sunnah and the Muslim mainstream). The author based the two books on distorted citations from the Shaykh of Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, Al-Hafizh Ibn Kathir, and others (may Allah be merciful to them all). The advisors hope to see clarifications of the material of the books so that readers will be able to differentiate between truth and falsehood. A: After studying the two books, the Committee found that the book entitled Al-Tahdhir min Fitnat Al-Takfir, compiled by `Aly Hasan Al-Halaby where he added to the sayings of scholars in the introduction and commentaries, includes the following:1. The author based the book on the invalid and innovated Madh-hab of Al-Murji'ah (a deviant Islamic sect), who limit Kufr (disbelief) to denial, rejection, conscious Istihlal (believing that what is prohibited is to be made lawful) as seen on page 6, commentary 2, and also page 22. This opinion opposes that of Ahl-ul-Sunnah wal-Jama`ah who believe that doctrinal disbelief, actions, statements, and/or doubt entail Kufr.2. The author distorted facts when reporting from Ibn Kathir (may Allah be merciful to him) from Al-Bidayah wal Nihayah 13/118, where he stated in his commentary in page 15 - as cited (Part No. 2; Page No. 138) from Ibn Kathir: "Verily, Genghis Khan claimed that Al-Yasiq was revealed by Allah and that is why they were regarded as Kafirs (disbelievers)." When referring to the stated page, the saying claimed to be Ibn Kathir's (may Allah be merciful to him) was not found.3. He fabricated lies against the Shaykh of Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah be merciful to him) in pages 17-18, where he falsely related to him the claim that ruling by other than what Allah has revealed was not considered Kufr by Shaykh-ul-Islam unless it is done out of knowledge, belief, and Istihlal. This is sheer fabrication against the Shaykh of Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah be merciful to him), who promoted the Madh-hab of the Salaf (righteous predecessors), Ahl-ul-Sunnah wal-Jama`ah, which is already mentioned; on the other hand, the Math-hab falsely attributed to Ibn Taymiyyah is that of Al-Murji'ah. 4. He fabricated the meaning intended by the knowledgeable Shaykh Muhammad ibn Ibrahim (may Allah be merciful to him) in his treatise "Tahkim Al-Qawanin Al-Wad`iyyah" (Ruling by Man-made Laws), as he falsely claimed that the Shaykh considers conscious Istihlal a condition for Kufr, although the statements of the Shaykh plainly indicate that he followed the opinion of Ahl-ul-Sunnah wal-Jama`ah.5. He commented on the statements of the people of knowledge and implied that these statements mean what they do not mean, as in page 108, commentary 1; page 109, (Part No. 2; Page No. 139) commentary 21; and page 110, commentary 2.6. The book also makes easy the sin of ruling by other than what Allah has revealed, particularly on page 5, commentary 1, claiming that paying special attention to enforcing Tawhid (belief in the Oneness of Allah) in this area is considered an imitation of the Rafidah (a Shi`ah group denying the caliphates of Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq and `Umar ibn Al-Khattab and making accusations against them and many other Companions of the Prophet), and this is a grave mistake.7. On examining the second book entitled "Sayhat Nadhir", the Committee found that it is a supporting tool for the contents of the first book. Accordingly, the Permanent Committee believes that it is not permissible to print, publish, or distribute the two books because of the falsehood and fabrications they contain. We advise the author to fear Allah for himself and for Muslims, especially the youth, and endeavor to acquire knowledge of the Shari`ah (Islamic law) at the hands of scholars trusted for their knowledge and beliefs. Knowledge is a trust which should not be spread unless it is in accordance with the Qur'an and the Sunnah (whatever is reported from the Prophet). The author must renounce these opinions and highly shameful approaches in distorting the statements of the people of knowledge. It is known that returning to the truth is a virtue and a cause of dignity for Muslims.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions. The Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta' Member Member Member Chairman Bakr Abu Zayd Salih Al-Fawzan `Abdullah ibn Ghudayyan `Abdul-`Aziz ibn `Abdullah Al Al-Shaykh (Part No. 2; Page No. 140) https://www.alifta.gov.sa/En/IftaContents/PermanentCommitee/Pages/FatawaDetails.aspx?View=Page&PageID=10858&CultStr=en&PageNo=1&NodeID=1&BookID=7 https://shamela.org/src/files/contents_url.php?id=c88d8b1ea9bf4a4776e9cfa30d380061 #Islam #Quran #Hadith #Sunnah #Fatwa

And the old man's next minister is...
And the old man's next minister is....
There have been more than ten names for possible education minister candidates. Among the names that I have: The older generation candidates include the prime minister himself doubling as education minister, the PM-in-waiting Anwar Ibrahim, veteran Rafidah Aziz and former cabinet minister Mustapa Mohamed. The new generation candidates include everyone's favourite Nurul Izzah and PTPTN chairman Wan Saiful Wan Jan. The professional candidates include renowned economist Jomo Kwame Sundaram and former UKM vice-chancellor Dr Mohd Sham Mohd Sani, both recommended by Malaysian Academic Movement (Gerak). As for internal portfolio swap, we have incumbent economic affairs minister Azmin Ali, foreign minister Saifuddin Abdullah, deputy foreign minister Marzuki Yahya, and Kedah menteri besar Mukhriz Mahathir. The list can go on and on, but the probability of majority of these names is near zero. The name of the actual candidate is securely locked in a secret chamber inside the prime minister's head. So long as Mahathir keeps his mouth zipped, no one will know who the guy is. And going by his customary way of doing things, he doesn't have to discuss anything with anyone nor listen to anyone's view. No one can foretell the old man's decision, because he has always acted, and thought, out of the ordinary! However, if you were to put on his thinking cap, perhaps you may get a very near, or even exact, answer, based on his logic thinking.
Now, following the old man's logic thinking... 1. Why Maszlee Malik had to resign. The answer definitely is not because of Jawi. If the old man is not happy with the way the Jawi issue is being handled, he can always intervene in his capacity as prime minister. Moreover, he will never give Maszlee the axe just to please the local Chinese community. There are two more substantial reasons: Firstly, Maszlee lacks political mastery and has given rise to issues and troubles and hence the ruling coalition's declining support rating. Secondly, Maszlee's school network contracts and free student breakfast scheme respectively involve the distribution of business and intra-party interests. In view of his failed prior appointment, Mahathir's next education minister has to be one with political experience and mastery, not to mention total submission to the chief commander and not to have any clash with existing vested interests. While Maszlee Malik is obedient enough, the old man needs to put another more obedient man in his place. These two requirements easily eliminate Anwar's family and the professionals.
2. The new education minister must have PPBM background. At such an advanced age of 94, Mahathir is not sure for how long more he can stay in power. As such, any decision he makes has to be for short term, not long term interests. He must make sure his PPBM will remain dominant (it doesn't matter whether the government is under PH or not). The education minister is one of the two most powerful men in PPBM's government after the prime minister, the other being home minster. There is no way Mahathir will surrender this prized position to a different party at the disadvantage of his own. This precondition makes all non-PPBM candidates irrelevant. With that, we only have three names left: Mustapa, Mukhriz and Mahathir himself.
3. The old man's ultimate goal. Mahathir's ultimate goal is to have all the powers in his grip. This is an unchanging belief of a die-hard Machiavellian. He must fulfil his ultimate goals for the nation and himself during the remaining days he still has the powers with him. To him, these two things are parallel. Other than himself, he feels uneasy to hand over the powers and country to an outsider. Of course, he cannot stay in power forever. His most favourite successor must be someone closest to him and most trusted by him. To be a Malaysian prime minister, one has to cross the education threshold. All our past PMs, with the only exception of Tunku Abdul Rahman, were once education ministers. Mukhriz will miss a precious opportunity if he doesn't cross the education threshold now, and next year's PPBM elections will put him in the party's core leadership, paving the way for much bigger thing ahead. Because of this factor, Mustapa's chance is almost non-existent now. Sure enough the PM himself is fully qualified for the post, but he has very limited time and stamina to deal with the additional job duty. In the end, there is only one name left in the list. Mukhriz Mahathir. - Tay Tian Yan,Sin Chew Daily Debaran menanti pengumuman Dr.M
Katanya Dr Mahathir tulis surat mempunyai 17 perenggan meminta Maszlee Malik letak jawatan.
Baca berita tadi PDRM dah terima laporan siasatan video seks dari US..
Ya tuan-tuan, punya dah tersepit, tulisan tangan sendiri pun tak kenal. Kiranya Shafie Dolah ingat dia dah smart dah tu dapat buah baru untuk lengah2 perbicaraan. Tapi DPP lagi smart.
Semasa Laporan SPRM dia mengaku tandatangan dia tapi dlm mahkamah dia tak mengaku...
Tapi serves him right, ni bahana menjual nama Allah, terus Allah fast track kan hukuman penjara. I would pray to Allah for the latter. - Mohd Mukhlis Mohd Sharif
This is not acceptable ! Guess what Transport Minister Anthony Loke found out on his first spot check of the year. But he can’t do it alone he said, he’s tasked CEOs of GLCs to put in place a culture of maintenance, strive for better service to commuters in 2020 and beyond..-f/bk

Betapa bangganya guru tok promosikan buku yg dia karang sendiri. Buku setebal tiga muka surat itu pasti akan menjadi rebutan sedunia ibarat "sotong panas" jualannya. Buat walaun, guru tok kata wajib beli buku ini...- f/bk
Selaku PM (Perdana memteri Marang), guru tok amat sibuk. Guru tok cadangnya nak jual hudud kat Sabah. Kalau calon amno menang, kita akan buat hudud... - f/bk

It was Muhammad Faris Rayyan Noor Wahid’s first football tournament and the nine-year-old was both excited and a little nervous. Seated at the edge of his seat, Rayyan was engrossed in the game that was in play.
His eyes were fixed on pint-sized Arissa Azizulrahman, eight, the undisputed star footballer of the tournament, who was relentless in her pursuit of goals.
She scored two, earning her team the lead moving on to the next round of the tournament.
Rayyan’s team was up next and he looked to his parents, Noor Wahid Nuruddin and Wan Siti Marian Abu Bakar for reassurance.
“I’m afraid of Arissa. Everyone is afraid of Arissa,” says Rayyan, nine, hesitantly. Then, with a grin, he adds: “But my friend came up with a strategy – we just have to block Arissa.”
Rayyan and Arissa were among 15 children with Cerebral Palsy (CP) who took part in the frame football tournament at the 9th Pan Disability Football 2019 Championships held at Forum 10, a sports centre in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, last weekend.
Frame football is an adapted form of the popular sport, formulated specifically for players who use frames, walkers or crutches to move around daily. Frame footballers use frames with wheels to help them move around the court. Because they use frames, the game can’t be played on a typical football pitch.
It was Rayyan’s first tournament and he has his parents to cheer him on.
The sport started in Britain in 2014 and was introduced in Malaysia in 2016 by disability football coach, Shalesh “Sunny” Manickavasagam who founded the Pan-Disability Football Club in 2006 to give disabled children and adults a chance to play football.
Sunny got in touch with Rafidah Rafizah Abdullah, the president of Gabungan Anak-Anak Palsi Serebrum (Gaps) who rallied support from other parents of children with CP to form a frame football league.
The children train once a week under Sunny and although it took a couple of years to build a sizeable group, the results have been outstanding: the children relish the opportunity to play and be coached in a sport that they were previously excluded from.
Nailah Mohd Fadzli and her husband Tuan Azhar Tuan Zulkifli don’t mind taking a bus from their home in Gurun, Kedah, almost every weekend so that their son, Zuhayr can play with his friends and train under coach Sunny.
“Why do we do it? Zuhayr’s passion is football. Everything he loves has to do with football, so much so that if we want to teach him his multiplication tables, we use football,” says Nailah, 32, who works as a freelance translator in Gurun.
Although Zuhayr goes to a national school, he is not allowed to participate in sports because of his disability.
“Where we live, inclusion doesn’t exist. He doesn’t get to play any sport with the other children. Here, he’s so happy to be able to play football with the other children. That’s why we make the effort to come down to PJ at least two or three times a month,” explains Nailah.
Alfred tries to get the ball from star player, Arissa
More than a game
Zuhayr started playing frame football about three years ago and he took to the game like a duck to water. Not only has his stamina and physical performance improved, so has his mental capacity, says Nailah.
He’s also able to control his emotions much better now. Three years ago, Zuhayr would throw a tantrum on court if he didn’t get the ball. Last year, he improved a little and would get upset on court only if he didn’t score. Now, he is able to control his emotions while the game is in play and if he is disappointed with his performance, he cries after the game, outside the court.
“Training with the others has also made him competitive – he wants to get better and improve and I think that’s good for him. He’s also sharper mentally. I really believe that sports has an impact on our emotional and mental well-being. His game has improved so much too because his legs and arms have become stronger,” says Nailah.
Alfred has only been playing frame football for a month but already, his stamina has improved tremendously.
“My favourite team is Kedah,” says the friendly eight-year-old with an infectious smile. “I love playing football. The more I play, the stronger my legs will be.”
The aim of frame football, says Rafidah, is to give children with CP an opportunity to excel in sport despite their limited mobility.
“This is also an option for their future. If they are not accepted in school, they can play sport and for children with CP, the types of sport they can be a part of are limited. Frame football gives them the opportunity to be a part of a sport and not just any sport … football. Everyone loves football,” she says.
Rafidah’s daughter, Izdihar Janna Adzly, 13, is also on the team.
Cerebral palsy is a neurological disorder caused by a brain injury or malformation that occurs while the child’s brain is under development. CP affects one’s muscle tone and posture and although the effect on function ranges greatly, many children with CP find it a challenge to walk unassisted. Some children with CP have tremors, issues with balance and some have intellectial disabilities too.
The game, says Rafidah, also serves as a form of physiotherapy: the more the children train, the stronger they become both mentally and physically.
“It’s a fun exercise. We have four or five children who can now walk independently without their assistive devices because their legs have gotten stronger. And this builds their confidence,” she says.
Frame football gives children with mobility issues a chance to play the sport.
Arissa is a good example of how the sport can benefit children with CP. When she started training with coach Sunny three years ago, she wasn’t very confident and certainly, not as fast. But now, she’s the quickest on the court and her mother has to remind her to give the other children a chance at scoring.
“She has become a lot more confident in her abilities and a lot less emotional. Sometimes, children with CP tend to be emotional when faced with challenges but Arissa has learnt to be in control of her emotions. Her legs are also a lot stronger and she’s able to control the ball and run better,” says her mother Norazhlina Mohamed.
Alfred Tan, 15, joined the frame football league just about a month ago. He’s a little older than most of the other CP children but Alfred doesn’t care. He looks forward to his weekly training sessions and has made fast friends with some of the other children.
His mother, Yvonne Chua, says that in just four weeks, she’s seen massive changes in her son.
“In the first session, he could barely last 10 minutes on the court. Now, he’s able to play a few games at a go,” she shares.
Although his parents and two younger sisters play games with him at home, Yvonne says that he isn’t ever as enthusiastic as he is with his fellow footballers.
“After the first session with these other children, I could see that he was really enjoying himself. His face lit up. Frame football has given him an opportunity to play a sport with children like him. I think he needed that,” says Yvonne.
For children with CP, frame football isn’t only an enjoyable game but also an opportunity to build friendships and be a part of a group of people who are like them. In mainstream schools, children with disabilities often don’t get opportunities to participate in sport or other activities with neurotypical children.
Deebak Raj,11, with his family.
Worth the effort For families of children with CP and other disabilities, the challenges are multi-fold: from finding therapy that works to financing the costs of treatments and mobility aids.
The frame football training sessions, which are conducted free of charge, offer some relief to parents.
“Frame football is a great option for my son and it doesn’t cost us anything. Any parent who has a child CP will know how expensive it is. Private physiotherapy can cost up to RM4,000 a month and his (walking) frames cost at least RM1,000 and they have to be changed because of wear and tear,” shares Ramanitharan Annamalay whose son Deebak Raj, 11, was also taking part in the tournament for the first time.
Ramanitharan hopes that frame football will help build his son’s strength. Deebak has been for physiotherapy sessions prior to this but he hasn’t shown much improvement in mobility.
“He can’t walk or even stand without a frame. We took him for various therapies but he didn’t seem to be improving so we stopped because it wasn’t cheap. We are now taking him to Universiti Malaya Medical Centre,” he says.
Building the strength of children with CP was precisely what Sunny had in mind when he started coaching frame football.
His ultimate goal is to get his young footballers to move without having to use frames.
Disability football coach Sunny hopes his footballers will be able to walk without their mobility aids soon.
“I want them to be independent so that they can have a better future. There are so many children with CP but not many avenues for them to participate in sports.”
“These children need to be active too and with frame football, they get to play a sport, build strength in their lower limbs, improve their endurance, balance and co-ordination too. You should see them play … they sweat so much and also have a lot of fun,” says Sunny.
A strong advocate for disability sports, Sunny set up the Pan-Disability Football Club in 2006. The club coaches players with various disabilities including the national 5-A-side blind football team (that won the gold medal for the Asean Para Games 2015), partially blind football and amputee football.
CIMB Foundation is the key Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) partner for this community project.
“I have a brother who is mentally challenged and has CP. He is 42 now and I couldn’t do anything for him but he has inspired me to give back to the disabled community,” said Sunny.
The frame football training sessions are held every Saturday and are open to any child with CP above the age of five.
“As long as the child is not bedridden and can hold their neck up, they can come for our assessment,” says Sunny.

Dinasihat, Dipecat & Letak Jawatan...
Dinasihat, Dipecat & Letak Jawatan....
Begitulah perkara sama masa Anwar jadi TPM dulu. Tapi sebab Anwar melawan maka tercetuslah plan liwat 1 untuk singkirkan Anwar. Cuba kes nih Dr Mazlee melawan. Agak2 apa plan Tun untuk teruskan perancangan pecat DrMazlee? Skandal amoi? Meliwat? Or what? Hanyak dek kerana Dr Mazlee tu clean and clear makanya Tun M takde kunci untuk jadikan menteri2 dibawah beliau menjadi pupet. Pupet yang ikot sahaja arahannya sebab takut Tun kantoikan. Lainlah menteri nama Assmi tu, Tun M pegang berapa banyak kunci untuk pupetkan dia. Macam contoh kes sembured dia tu. Jika laporan siasatan di umum sebelum hujung tahun baru nih, klimax lah kisah nih. Takde poin.
- Man Toba
Terima kasih Dr.Maszlee...
Kalau menolak tuntutan mereka..
Maszlee – behind the black shoes...
I am inspired to write this article after reading all the comments in Mkini; bashing Maszlee Malik and I am sure, this piece will end up in the same tone. Maszlee Malik’s sudden resignation took many people and me myself by surprise. It seems that he was forced into the resignation by the Prime Minister. One wonders what the plan is since until Maszlee was appointed; the only other person who was interested in the job was Mahathir himself. Maszlee’s resignation speech – reading from between the lines would confirm that Mahathir wanted him out. Maszlee has definitely been made a scapegoat here. He has been always made to look like a dumb Minister who doesn’t know his job. Sensational media reporting and often unfair titles put him always in the defensive mode. He was polled as the second lowest – 27 out 28 in Malaysiakini’s poll on Ministers’ performance. This is understandable because most Mkini readers are middle class, mostly non-Malay and have a definite bias against him. They fear that Maszlee with his Islamic credentials was going to turn our education system into an Islamic one. Most DAP leaders scored high points. Now imagine if Harakah conducted a similar poll and you will know how the outcome would be. The Black shoe labelling never left him and it was always used to ridicule and undermine him. I am sure if we took a vote among students, they would prefer black shoes to white. Anyway that is not the point here.
Mahathir has decided to replace him and therefore it would be easy now to put all the blame on the Jawi issue, matriculation and other controversial stuff on him. Two of Mahathir’s staunch supporters Tun Daim and Rafidah Aziz have constantly taken swipes at him and that is further indication that he has fallen out of favour with the Mighty M. Let me share a personal experience and tell you why some of us have a soft spot for him. JPKK which is a network of contract workers in Government departments has been campaigning over the years to improve the plight of contract workers mainly cleaners and security guards in schools. We have previously tried in vain to meet with the previous education Minister. The only people who met us were some officers and department heads, who were not in a position to make decisions. But the PH Education Minister Maszlee quite readily gave us an appointment to meet and have a dialogue with us. I was very sceptical before the meeting based on the bad image formed in my mind about him. Before the meeting, his office asked for our memorandum and proposal, which was itself quite out of the ordinary. At the meeting, we were pleasantly surprised to note that he had actually read our memorandum beforehand. He was not pretending as if he knew everything, which most Ministers try to do. He addressed each of our proposals and directed his officials to act on them. He then told us that he will bring up our proposals in the Cabinet meeting the next day. I thought he was pulling a fast one because that is what most Ministers tell you.
True to his promise, he issued a media statement after the cabinet meeting, saying that he raised the issue of parasitic and underperforming crony contractors will be blacklisted and replaced. He also said that the whole system needed to be relooked at and agreed to look into our proposal to employ workers directly and not through a middleperson who in many instances ended up taking a portion of the salary of the workers. This was the first Minister who actually looked at the fundamental issue rather than give the usual excuses. Since then, we had the pleasure of working with some of his officers, specifically Shaza, who used to update us on a weekly basis, working past office hours, listening to the many complaints we raised about the problematic contract system in school. This attitude changed our view that most of those working in Government ‘makan gaji buta’ and just work 9 to 5. For that, let me salute them. Now let me touch on other issues not raised in the current petition going around supporting him. For example, under Maszlee, student activists were more protected; he prevented University authorities from taking action on students each time they expressed themselves through protests and other actions. During previous Administration, the Minister always stood with the establishment and not the students. That is something which helped students to express themselves knowing very well that they had protection from disciplinary action. I was also told by many teachers that Maszlee made many reforms in the school system but many of his reforms did not go well on the ground because the bureaucracy was not assisting. It is not surprising that the Teachers Union NUTP speaks so highly of him. Many teachers too have since expressed how Maszlee did actually addresses some of the main issues raised by teachers.
He made many u-turns after bringing matters to the cabinet. This can be seen with the matriculation issue and Jawi. It is maybe that he is inexperienced as he has always stated himself or maybe he should have talked less, like the many PH Ministers who don’t say much, preferring to be silent in order to survive. Most of these issues were tough issues like JAWI, Matriculation and Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) are difficult issues. These are issues which has been there for 6 decades which PH as a team have been unable to address since they end up playing the same racial game like the BN. Therefore it is unfair that Maszlee is blamed when on all occasion, the cabinet took the decision with of course ayahanda Mahathir sitting at the helm. On other issues - free quality breakfast, opening up hotel swimming pools to students, doing away with streaming and exams, making education accessible to OKUs and undocumented children. These are huge achievements compared to the black shoe which hardly got mentioned. It was reported that he opened 10,200 classes to cater for 24,998 OKU special children. On all these initiatives, I am with him because he has contributed towards creating a more caring society and opening up public spaces for the commons. Since coming to power, he has resigned twice. Once, after being appointed as the President of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) when students and many spoke about conflict of interest and now. On the first occasion, even Mahathir supported his appointment but he took the right decision to resign but this time it is a no choice situation Mahathir called for his resignation and it could be part of a likely cabinet reshuffle. Maszlee should feel happy that he was not removed due to corruption or other scandals. He went in without a Datukship and came out without one. To Maszlee all the best.- S.Arutchelvan
