minseo does have a point; no decent challenge doesn't come with a proper reward. milan pouts a little as she hums thoughtfully. something like 'the winner does the loser's chore fo a week' is definitely a worthy prize, but nothing the viewers could enjoy seeing and they are here for content. after a few more seconds of thinking, milan finally declares: "the winner gets to rest for 15 minutes..." she's very aware that this isn't likely to be enough to satisfy her opponent, so she continues "and for one hour, the loser has to do everything the winner orders them to do, without complaning!" she puts an emphasis to without. "actually, for good measures, the loser has to reply 'yes, boss' with a bow to every order!" she adds on a whim. this should both entertain the crowd and motivate minseo.
since minseo picked the carrots, milan grabs the bow of yellow picked radishes, opting to leave them there rather than make a pyramid like the younger girl. she waits for minseo's call, a smile settling on her lips. "let's go!"
her movements are fluid and efficient. while her knife skills cannot compare to a chef, it's obvious that she knows what she's doing and that this isn't her rodeo. while she isn't able to replicate the satisfying quick 'tak-tak-tak' of a chef, the sound of her chopping is constant on the board. after cutting her second radish, she lets out a soft 'hehe' of satisfaction and steals a glance at her group member. "how's it going, minseo-ah?" she asks softly, a hint of teasing in her voice.
She feigns being alarmed when Milan raises her voice, clutching the carrot near her chest with a faint pout. She hides her face behind her hand, finishing off the carrot in between a series of soft chuckles. She wasn't a fan of bare carrots, but she wouldn't be wasteful on a camera. She faces her friend, raising a brow when she observes the corner of her lips tug upwards into a smirk.
Was her friend trying to tap into her competitive side and force her to be productive? Milan knew her too well, and especially, knew how to get her to focus and gently push her back on track. Perhaps, that was the reason the two were a good match, but there was something off about the older girl. She couldn't quite figure it out and with cameras rolling, she knew better than to broach the topic.
"What would I get when I win, hm?" She states in a singsong-y voice, reaching for the bowl of carrots to prepare equal amounts into an unstable pyramid. The presentation was unnecessary, but she was set on having fun with her friend. She steps away from the counter to wash her hands, returning with a serious expression, which doesn't last the moment she resumes making eye contact with Milan. Her smile widens at the corners, setting the timer on their work area for 5 minutes. "May the best prep cook win!"

Episode 14 Goblin Review: Please, someone save me from this curse...
Damn... episode 14 made me so hopeful only to crush all of my hopes and dreams for Goblin with those previews T.T Sorry for the late review... I just got off work Dx
Like we needed to be reminded of our sadness from last episode... Shin’s death occurred right before Eun-Tak’s eyes as she watched him disappear into ashes. At that moment, lightning appeared which most likely symbolized the calamity of Shin’s death... as well as God erasing everyone’s memories of him. Upon this realization that Shin was slowly disappearing from her memory, Eun-Tak hurriedly rushed to write down her memories of Shin, “His name is Kim Shin. He is tall and has a sad smile. He will come with the rain. He will come with the first snowfall of the season. He’ll keep his promise to me. You have to remember. You’re that man’s bride.” Realize that what Eun-Tak wrote down was more for her to remember their promise/contract they made; it was impossible for her to write down every memory of Shin. Therefore, she had to at least remember to summon him on the first snowfall because she is his bride. Just as I speculated, Shin appeared in a desert of snow (ex. Gobi Desert) which deserts symbolize death but also rebirth/revelation; you could say deserts represent the world between life and death. For Shin’s case, his death made him realize his choice: to continue on living even if it meant him being alone forever as a goblin in that place, despite God truly releasing him of his punishment and being able to rest in peace. However, Shin could not return right away because 1) he was trapped in between the two worlds for he was no longer considered “living” or “dead,” and 2) he could only return once Eun-Tak summoned him as the conditions of the contract and his promise to her. The reason why God could not bring him back is because even God did not have power over the domain where Shin was trapped between in.
Nine years later, Eun-Tak has achieved her dreams and is the PD of a radio broadcast station; however, it seems that she was not doing well despite the success of the show. It also looked like her so called “family” is back in contact with her... but she seemed to not take any shit from them (you go girl). We learn more about the grown up Eun-Tak as she always looks lost such as staring endlessly into the rain with unexplainable tears and sadness. It was revealed that she doesn’t remember who GR is as they “run” into each other at the restaurant, but she speculated whether he could be the “ahjussi” that she is trying to find. She also doesn’t remember who gave her the necklace despite still wearing it, wondering if it was her mother’s, as well as the reason for the burnt words in her notebook. What was interesting was how Shin and Eun-Tak were thinking the same thing - the poem of loneliness in the desert - and perhaps this shows that both are equally lonely in their own worlds as they try to hold onto their memories to move forwards (walking backwards in order to see the footsteps in front). On the bright side, Eun-Tak has two loyal and trustable friends to share her worries with and to drink with: Sunny and the class rep. But despite the rain and it being a “nice day,” Eun-Tak returned home grieving in pain due to the incomprehensible deep sadness in her heart.
Shin continued to walk in the desert holding onto the only thing that was keeping him alive: their contract. At the last brink of his energy, the contract was swept away by the wind though he desperately tried to retrieve it back. At the same moment, the first snowfall occurred and Eun-Tak decided to make a wish, “What is it that I’ve forgotten? Or, who is it that I’ve forgotten? What kind of face is the one that I’ve forgotten? What kind of promise did I forget? Why is it that the only thing that remains is this deep-seated sadness? Please, someone save me from this curse that is plaguing me.” OMFG!!! I CAN’T BELIEVE I THEORIZED IT -- IT WAS SO EPIC! With this wish, Shin was finally summoned and we see that the contract was stuck at a dandelion which symbolizes communication, overcoming challenges, and the fulfillment of wishes.
Shin immediately hugged Eun-Tak in overwhelming happiness, while Eun-Tak was overtaken by tears but she didn’t understand why. But this time, it was Eun-Tak asking the questions while all Shin could tell her was that he was the “contractor,” he was happy to see her successful, and that he was summoned. Afterwards, Shin went to visit Deok-Hwa but he didn’t remember Shin; however, Shin’s appearance aroused CEO Kim’s attention as he questioned DH if his uncle’s name is “Kim Shin.” Shin also visited Sunny, but what’s curious to me is how she reacted... Sunny didn’t look confused but rather more shocked? But perhaps she also doesn’t remember Shin too. And lastly, Shin went to visit GR the same way they first met... however when Shin thought no one remembered him... GR, with tears in his eyes, said something that he would know if he retained his memories, “I guess you weren’t scattered by the dust or winds. And you didn’t turn into a radish (nothingness), either.” This scene killed me guys. T.T Bros for life.
It was clarified as to why only GR’s memories were left in tack: the heaven’s were by his side (just as Shin had told GR back at Grandpa’s grave) and that Samshin told God to spare Yeo’s memories so that someone else will remember Shin and Eun-Tak’s love. However, what shocked me the most was when God said, “Why does it feel like I’ve discovered the door that will re-open that closed-off world? Maybe I didn’t shut that door well enough?” This suggests that God never intended for Shin to die, but it was up to Shin to come up with the answer himself... thus God throws the question “fate” and it’s up to us to find the answer!! It was touching to have the two reunite and how GR was quick to express his enthusiasm for Shin’s return. He also finally apologizes to Shin and asks for his forgiveness after 900 years - of course Shin forgave him. We learn that GR has been avoiding Sunny for 9 years and that it is his punishment of loneliness, as well as, he listens to Eun-Tak’s radio show (how cute!). What was also refreshing was the reunification of the three boys and DH’s very legitimate questions (Why do I call you “uncle” tenant? lol this was too good)... I loved how Shin hid behind the sofa and GR said he likes to drink double-fisting, lmao (guys... I’ll admit it... it was an indirect kiss >.<). But what was even more hilarious was when GR said goodbye to Shin (payback’s a b*tch lol) and Shin walked out the door to Eun-Tak’s room while GR erased poor DH’s memory. However... it’s so touching how GR didn’t move Eun-Tak’s stuff out but covered them with cloth T.T
Eun-Tak made a mistake and wrote the temperature as 22 degrees... but of course our one and only Goblin came to her rescue by warming up the temperature and blooming flowers in the middle of winter! They continue to bump into each other’s paths... well more like Eun-Tak unknowingly summoning him, lmao. Notice how every time Eun-Tak and Shin meet, she immediately talks about her medicine... she’s literally trying to give an excuse or cover up her true emotions but Shin just breaks down that barrier and she doesn’t understand why. Shin continues to drop hints about how he’s waiting for her to remember him, but he is already happy with being able to see her, hear her, and be with her. But of course... he ruined the moment by not having any money, lmao, and Eun-Tak paid for his drink (gosh... that white fluffy sweater and turtle neck looks so good on him!). And who does Shin turn to for help? GR! And finally, the secret behind Grandpa’s will was finally revealed, indeed Shin appeared before CEO Kim through the rain and with a blue spark and calling himself “Kim Shin.” I AM FUCKIN AMAZED AT HOW LITERAL GRANDPA’S LETTER WAS!! BUT MOSTLY, HOW DID HE KNOW SHIN WAS COMING BACK?! The world may never know. Shin continued to “purposely” bump into Eun-Tak’s path and even helped her to get the contract with his company - shocking Eun-Tak that he was the President of iloom. For once, we see a glimpse of a smile on Eun-Tak’s face as she was waiting for Shin’s call!
AND FINALLY!!! The mystery of the Canada letter was finally revealed. Shin entrusted the task to GR by giving him an excuse to finally meet Sunny after 9 years. However, despite his admirable determination, he couldn’t personally hand the letter to her. In the end though, they finally met again after he realized that it was the real “Sunny.” But what caught my attention was the look Sunny gave GR... I couldn’t tell if it was a look of confusion or anger? Did Sunny really lose her memories? Anyways, Sunny gave the letter to Eun-Tak and we learn that even Eun-Tak forgot about working at Sunny’s old restaurant. Most of all, the receiver of the letter was to her mother (OMG I KNEW IT... I JUST FELT THAT THE LETTER WAS WRITTEN FOR HER MOTHER ALL ALONG Dx this is so sad... ugh). What’s important to note is the change in Eun-Tak’s voice: her younger self was filled with positivity, determination, cheerfulness, and liveliness though she was living a hard life... but now her voice is quiet, empty, sad, and dead despite having achieved success. The difference is Shin... she doesn’t remember him and that she is his bride. And what better timing than for Shin to finally call her... and then she fuckin summons him xD (gosh... grown up Eun-Tak just loves to blow out candles without a second thought compared to when she was younger lol). Shin asked her if she was waiting for him and we see Eun-Tak giggle in happiness that he finally called her (how precious). AND OMG!! Shin asked her out on a date and she said YES!! AHH MY BABIES T.T Notice how ever since Shin returned, Eun-Tak has not cried in pain as often and is smiling more... it’s as if Shin has breathed life into her!
What’s touching is that Eun-Tak has the perfume that he gave to her and compliments her; this made Eun-Tak a little jealous and Shin immediately eased her worries, “You’re the only woman who knows my phone number, though.” But what broke both mine and Shin’s heart was when Eun-Tak took her pills for depression, “A medication that cures an ailment of the heart?” However, note how this is the first time Eun-Tak was genuinely honest with Shin and Shin accepts her for who she is no matter how different she is from her younger self. We learn that she is taking vacation to go to Canada and this shows how she is taking a step forward to regain her lost memories; it was nice how Sunny was very supportive of her. Most importantly, they were eating mandarin oranges which symbolize wealth, prosperity, and happiness. Since both of them are eating this fruit, this may foreshadow that happiness is within their reach. Also, Sunny told Eun-Tak that she has “sick building syndrome” and I think it’s because this place has fond memories for her such as when 1) she and GR first kissed and 2) GR waiting for her outside her home. I kinda think Sunny’s memories were not erased, but I may be looking into it too deep.
Eun-Tak is so gorgeous! She finally arrived in Canada and asks for help about the letter. We learn that the letter was caught inside the mail chute and Eun-Tak was shocked to find out it was from 10 years ago. The most shocking thing was when Eun-Tak started quoting herself, but she doesn’t remember that those were her own words, “Someone once told me that there’s a reason for everything God does... Hmm, I wonder who told me that?” Notice how Eun-Tak didn’t get “overly” excited upon seeing the grandeur of the hotel room... if it was her younger self... she would have been jumping all over that bed in excitement. While Eun-Tak is trying to discover her missing past, both GR and Sunny are gloomily looking out into the night sky... perhaps they are both thinking of each other? And last but not least, Eun-Tak noticed the red door that she once travelled through to Canada and who pops out at the right time? Shin! I just realized this, but everything that has connected Shin and Eun-Tak together is red! The red scarf, the red door, and the red Maple leaf. So in conclusion, I still have hope that this will have a happy ending! Why? Despite the previews were really sad... those only make up 20% of the entire 3 hours of the finale. Also, episode 14 served to tie up loose ends and primarily lay a very strong foundation of overcoming challenges, as well as, the concept of fated love. I believe in the finale episode, the biggest challenges for our two couples will finally be introduced and will ultimately decide the ending of this drama. I personally think Sunny did not forget about GR, Shin, and Eun-Tak... if it didn’t work the first time... why would it work the second time either? If anything... I don’t think Sunny has forgotten about GR and she will finally call out to him after seeing him appear before her like that. Not only that, I also think Eun-Tak’s radio project of finding the faces and memories that you’ve forgotten will be used in the next episode to bring Sunny and GR together (Sunny will tell about their story to reach out to GR); this may also happen for Shin and Eun-Tak, but I think this project will be used somehow since it was importantly discussed in this episode. As for Eun-Tak, she will remember Shin and it might be due to the Maple leaf because it’s the first object that represents their “fated love” besides her red scarf (which I think will also make an appearance). AND THAT WILL LEAD UP TO HER AND SHIN’S SEXY KISS (or even more :O)?!! OML!! I don’t want to raise my expectations in case I’m disappointed lmao.
But... what I’m questioning the most (and dreading of) is if someone will die?? Idk... at the moment... it’s pointing towards Sunny with her monologue, “I hope that, in our next lifetime, our wait will be short, and our time together will be long.” After all, Samshin did say they will have to pay a huge price! ... but Shin was crying and Eun-Tak let go of Shin’s hand... NOOOOO IT BETTER NOT BE ANY OF THEM AND THAT IT WAS JUST A FLUKE! Dx PLEASE DON’T DO THIS TO US!!! Perhaps... the only way to save Eun-Tak and Sunny is for GR and Shin to give up their immortal life?? IDK!! Why would they only show sad scenes in the preview??? So I’m thinking there’s more to it than meets the eye. When God said that he didn’t close the door well... perhaps he means they will get a chance for a happy ending?! I’m just honestly trying to make any sense for a happy ending... AND THE MANDARINS!! PLEASE JUST LET THEM BE HAPPY!!

Garlic Mustard (Alliaria petiolata) of the family mustard family (Brassicaceae)
in europe, this plant was enjoyed for its radish-like flavor. it was used to spice fish, put in salads, and made with roast lamb. medicinally it was seen as a diuretic, and environmentally it was used to help with erosion. in america it has spread (since the mid 1800s) like, well, wildfire, and thus has made it on the non-native invasives list.
generally it seems that the major method to slow its growth is chemical (e.g. herbicides)
in my romantic mind, ideally we would become a culture that pollutes our house areas less and thus can start eating our edible growing neighborhood friends... especially as garlic mustard apparently toxic to herbivores. i hear the roots can be prepared like horseradish.
the ecological issue with garlic mustard goes as followed (or so i've heard in my local area): since the deer and other herbivores don’t eat the garlic mustard, but they do eat the toothwort (Dentaria sp.), the garlic mustard finds new spaces to grow where the toothwort was eaten away. as it does, the butterflies (Pieris virginiensis) that would normally go to the toothwort, instead go to the garlic mustard for their nectar needs, but alas, something in the garlic-y ways causes the plant to be toxic to said butterflies larva. thus you have a pollinator species decreasing.
as a person who loves stories, i think that feels like it is a bit too myopic. i don’t doubt that that chain of effects are happening, i just think we need to introduce other players. for example, we have no predators here (obviously given how suburban it is now) so the deer population has expanded insanely. they are barely responsive/fearful to/of humans and are often found chilling and eating anything they can in our front yards. the community response has been to allow some (trained, i’m assuming) individuals to hunt them via archery during specific times of year, but i don’t think we have many archers here. so a surplus of deer means they are going to eat their available food sources in greater amounts than ecologically desired.
i also read a study (Waller and Maas, 2013) that indicated we can’t just pull all the invasives out and think our natives will come back before we’ve addressed the deer population.
next factor: our local woods are also at the bottom of a hill of many houses and streets. almost every house around the area sprays their yards with a whole cocktail of herbicides, pesticides, fertilizers, and then there’s the runoff from road management s like remnants from whatever comes off of tar driveway maintenance and the salt from snow prep (the latter which is a tracked problem in the watershed). and of course there are a bunch of sewer pipelines in the woods and some old bridges and whatnot (i believe initially the woods were once mostly agricultural spaces but i’m not quite sure, though that’s important because what can grow post-agriculture varies).
so what’s missing in this garlic mustard eco-snapshot? one, a focus on human influence. the number of effects different herbicides and other chemicals can have is not well studied (at a baseline i know glyphosate has a chelating effect- meaning it can bind up the nutrients which means plants can’t access them, including natives).
the thing with invasives is they tend to be a bit hardier. garlic mustard is know to grow in disturbed spaces- ones where you have a bare patch. that includes floodplains, but more likely their journey started where native plants died as a result of erosion and suburban runoff (and by the massive deer population). houses in our area don’t just abut the woods, they are basically on them (i’ve seen people growing super green grass in december up to the creek line)- so any lawn maintenance is going right into the woods.
and with the human influence, there is this assumption that humans will pay exact attention to how much of a chemical treatment they are using, whether or not they should be spraying or lightly painting their undesired weeds, but that hasn’t born out. people take the path of least resistance.
also are they using the right products for their environment all the time or mixing and causing new reactions? and the whole problem with chemical maintenance is one, we both don’t know what else is in herbicides and pesticides if you get the already-made cocktail ones (companies not legally required to list all the ingredients), and two that means most of what’s in them isn’t studied.
pulling it all together, if we are creating a more unfriendly environment, both due to additions of chemicals and from more herbivores, how will our natives survive?
because then it’s not surprisingly new plants, with fewer to no predators will show up and take over those spaces. if we aren’t tackle the top of this trickle-down chain, will focusing all our energy on adding to that chain near the bottom slow garlic mustard or other invasives enough to allow our beloved species to proliferate? unlikely. (and that’s not even getting into the question about whether our efforts to control different species is fighting the nature cycles of ecology anyway - environments are not stable on a species level forever).
if we are truly interested in preserving the original ecological balance (which again sets up a whole story of why we chose a specific point in time to call something the origin), we’d first have to reduce our chemical management techniques in all avenues to prevent confounding influences that we really can’t track. we’d then probably have to slow the deer population (you’d think venison would be big here- people coming from montana, like my partner, are so baffled by us not hunting to eat the deer). that way the toothwort and other plants that we consider desirable could have a chance to grow and not be razed down by hungry herbivores at such high rates.
and again, i strongly believe we, as the species that brought it to the country and who ate it back in europe, we should be eating garlic mustard here. but obviously these are not possible because we are mostly removed from our foraging roots (plant identification mostly) and we’ve added things to the ecosystem that we should not ingest.
and one parting thought i've been pondering. honey bees. i haven’t personally seen it studied if garlic mustard is a pollinating flower for honey bees. i remember anecdotally reading from an environmental non-profit that honey bees get nectar from ALL mustard species plants. if that’s the case, does the environmental impact of garlic mustard have some good? like keeping a source of food for our beloved non-native honey bees?

Priya’s Keto Sweet Bread
So it’s raining cats and dogs in my city, which makes it the perfect time to have a piece of toasted bread with butter on it. It is the simple pleasures of life that make life worth living. I have for you today a yummy Keto Sweet Bread.
I am often asked that how do you manage, when you are out socializing. Well I am going to be candid today. Initially it was very tough, as people just don’t get it or they pretend to listen but at the end of it they are only hearing.
I have also got stuck at places where close friends insist on feeding you ‘just a bite’, and have had to face the worst of expressions when I have refused desserts. And you can imagine what a big crime that can be in India, where joyous occasions start and end with something sweet.
I think in my case as people around me saw the change they accepted my ‘no’ with respect. At work they don’t offer me pizza anymore, there is no slice of cake for me, instead I get sweet smiles and somebody always gets me some cheese.
So if you ask me, you just need to be tough in the head and a little flexible too. I have some easy tips for you that can come handy, on this journey.
1. If you know the venue for the party, be smart and have a look at the menu beforehand. Choose your dishes beforehand and don’t be caught off guard.
2. If the occasion involves close friends and family, be smart and skip a meal. Hold the appetite for the evening.
3. If you are going to a social gathering like a wedding or a christening, you can either leave before the buffet is laid, or play around with the food on the plate, or pick Keto friendly items.
4. If you are going out clubbing or dancing, or to a place where nobody will care to see what you eating, just sip on some clear soda, or have some nimbu soda/ lime soda, and even better eat from home on go.
5. In most Indian weddings where vegetarian food is being served hog on the paneer, or try the taka tak or the pan fried veggies. You can also pick the cucumbers, radishes from the mountains of salad you see there.
6. Ratia or yogurt can also be a life saver. And the tikkas both paneer/ cottage cheese and chicken should be your best friend.
7. Avoid the punch no matter how attractive it might look, and drink water or even salty butter milk will do. Although very few people will serve that at an occasion. They would prefer Coke !
8. Another fact that you need to keep in mind is that Chinese is a big no. No matter how convincing the steward might sound they add cornflour to almost everything. Even the clear soups have it.
9. Sea food is a good bet, provided it is not crumb fried, just baked and sautéed is good.
10. And as a golden rule I never step out of the house without stevia in my pocket and sometimes coffee sachets too, and sometimes when nobody is looking I carry my small bottle of coconut oil too. While everybody around you is getting drunk on calories and sugar laden drinks, you can get drunk on your cup of BPC.
11. Lastly, it is your body and your life, how you want to treat it, and what you want to do with it is your business. People who claim to be your well wishers should be able to respect that, or next time when you review the clothes you need to give out, also you review your list of so called good friends.
So coming to the recipe, it is very simple, yum and keeps you full for a long time. You need to ensure that the egg whites are beaten till they form stiff peaks. I had Whey Protein in Chocolate flavor, so I made the bread with that. But you can use any flavor you want.
Keto Sweet Bread Recipe
Procedure
1. Separate the egg whites and yellow. And it is beyond me why one has a different color.
2. In a blender put the egg whites and beat till stiff peaks are formed. 3. Next add the cocoa and keep blending.
4. Add the Whey protein, Vanilla essence and sweetener and blend some more.
5. Now add the baking powder and the salt and blend for a few minutes more.
6. Lastly add the yolks and blend for two minutes.
7. Preheat the oven for 5 to 10 minutes.
8. Pour the batter in the loaf tin, in which you have rubbed the butter already.
9. Sprinkle the chia seeds and pumpkin seeds on the top. Or you can also mix them in the batter.
10. Bake at 180 degrees Celcius for 35 minutes and check with a knife. If not done bake for another fifteen minutes.
11. Allow the bread to cool completely, before you slice it and store in an air-tight container.
12. Enjoy at any time, with a cup of coffee or even with your eggs.
13. You can skip the sweetener completely and make it bland or salty too. But since my Whey was chocolate flavored so I made it sweet.

Choi Hotpot is Now Open at the Promenade Mall
With the rainy season and the ‘ber months now upon us, a hot bowl of shabu shabu really sounds so comforting. That’s why I was excited to learn that Choi Hot Pot had just opened at the Promenade Mall in Greenhills and I was invited to try their hot pot lunch one afternoon.
Choi Hot Pot is part of the Choi Garden group of restaurants which has its original branch at Annapolis Street in Greenhills, just a few blocks away from the mall. I enjoyed my previous hot pot experience at Choi Garden before so it’s great that they converted this former Choi Garden branch into a dedicated hot pot restaurant.
Choi Garden opened in 2000 with its founder, Mr. Choi Tak Pui, bringing the delightful taste of Hong Kong cuisine to the Philippines. With the rise in demand for hot pot restaurants, or shabu shabu as we call it here, Choi Garden decided to branch out their own hot pot creations into its own restaurant.
Choi Hot Pot has two floors of shabu shabu tables for small or big groups. We took our seats on the second floor which can also serve as private dining areas for parties, birthdays, and other celebrations.
What differentiates Choi Hot Pot from the other shabu shabu restaurants in the city is that all the ingredients, meat, and seafood are all flown in fresh everyday from Hong Kong.
Another specialty is its rich and unique soup broth which is set up at every table. You can ask for a Double Soup Base and choose two different soups like the Chinese Herbal Soup, Sate Soup, Pork Bone Soup, or Chicken Soup base.
You can customize your own dipping sauce at the condiments station. I prefer putting lots of garlic and sate on my sauce.
Each order at Choi Hot Pot is only around P120 to P260 so you can definitely have a shabu shabu feast. Our first set of orders were mostly vegetables such as polonchay, watercress, fried beancurd, crabstick, fish fillet, corn, and radish.
I like getting lots of meatballs and dumplings for my hot pot. These include beef balls, lobster balls, handmade squid balls, shrimp wanton, and smoked cheese sausage.
Be careful with these dumplings because they tend to squirt very hot soup when you bite into them.
Choi Hot Pot also offers Live Suahe and you can still see them moving about as they are served on the sticks. Simply dip them into the hot pot and you have the freshest shrimp available.
The meats at Choi Hot Pot are of premium quality and definitely worth ordering. The Australian Sliced Fat Beef and Imported Fat Beef are highly recommended with their thin slices of tender and fatty beef.
The Japanese Wagyu is a bit on the expensive side but it is really so good. These wagyu cubes just melt in your mouth and it only takes a few seconds to cook them inside the hot pot.
Now it’s finally time to eat! I can’t wait to have these slices fat beef on my bowl. Each table has its own hot pot area in the center so you can just put all the ingredients inside.
Aside from the beef and wagyu cubes, I particularly liked the delicious lobster balls and the live suahe. It’s actually easy to peel off the shrimp skin using your fork since they are already placed on sticks. I must have had almost a dozen!
Another great feature at Choi Hot Pot is their automated hot pot cookers which can lift up and drain the broth with just a touch of a button. This way, you can grab all the dumplings and balls that you want easily after they are cooked.
