coming off of his short stint during the top pet care filming, jino had found himself coming back weeks later — several consecutive weeks later — volunteering each time and getting to know the other animals that the shelter had to offer. and with each time he came, he felt it harder and harder to leave whenever he saw the one pup he had met during filming: from the start, jino had known, meong-meong had stolen his heart. 

weeks later, with each visit, and the surprise that came at seeing she had still been unadopted — jino had begun to find it harder and harder to leave her there. and after many, many nights of thinking on it — to the point that he believed it could no longer be considered an impulsive thought, he had made the decision.

he was ready to become a dad again. 

( and moo was ready to be an older sibling! )

and who better than to witness such a special moment than — “you’re going to love her,” he tells minseo the second they step into the shelter waiting room, he had sent over the filled out forms ahead of time, dropped off the deposit the day before, all that was left was to bring her home. “she’s so cute, talks a lot, likes to play — she’s kinda like you, i guess.” he supposes he has a type, he thinks whilst pacing in his excitement. the pitter-patter of nails against tile has him turning in time to see the chocolate labrador rushing towards him, turning the phone in his hand to the pup to capture her entrance with a grin, “there she is!”

nina can't remember the last time she'd visited japan, vaguely memorable family trips oftentimes scattered throughout the globe back in her youth ( back when her home life had consisted of something nuclear, her parents not yet divorced and still publicly cordial due to the need to stave off public scrutiny), remnants of that time now less than desirable to think back on. she's older now, hardly sensitive but softer around the edges, more willing to feel, and it's with an oddly soothing sense of purpose that nina decides she'd like to cultivate a more personally positive impression for her future self.

she's an idol now, this new chapter being in its infancy, and she's surrounded by others walking down the same path— some are known to her while others are not, but that's of little bother. she's bound to be introduced to those she does not yet know at some point throughout filming, so for now, nina directs her attention toward familiarity.

"when you decided you wanted to be an idol, did you ever think it'd lead you to a sumo arena?" there's an air of disbelief coloring her words, the redheads gaze still wondering the space as their large group shuffles into the main arena area, staff and tour guides ready to direct them. brow raising, ninas gaze finds minseo standing next to her, lips quirking into a small grin. "not that the history lesson wasn't interesting, but i'm curious to see why they've actually brought us here . . ."

It's seldom that the trio - or rather, the dynamic duo and their plus one, as Taeha liked to tease - found themselves with matching schedules. Or in this case a lack thereof and an abundance of free time. Taeha had been counting the days since her birthday celebration for the three to have another fun outing, and with the weather getting warming the city was their oyster! It only took a few spams in the group chat to settle on an afternoon at the aquarium ( and potentially a trip to a new cafe or two that evening if Taeha had any say ). With her polaroid camera in tow, Taeha planned to pose as their personal photographer - if she could just manage to make it a single step without getting distracted, that is.

And if the start of their day would be any indication, she'd surely be failing miserably. The trainee can barely contain her excitement as she bursts through the entrance, letting out a gasp that already has the pink mask she'd been sporting drooping slightly below her chin. "Oh my gosh! Look, look, look!" she's gushes, shuffling towards the gift shop. Her eyes are laser focused on a display case of plushies designed to mimic some of the more popular animal attractions. She reaches for one of the larger Penguins to give it a squeeze. "It's so cute! Should I get it? Or - Oh! They have otters too! ...Should I get both?!"

For one year, he's taken the generosity and care that Minseo decided to so graciously give him and held it close to his chest. What was once a pair of friends merely from the acquaintance of their parents became a bond closer than either of them could have ever anticipated. For one year, she assisted him in coveting secrets and hiding from the things he feared. Selflessly, Seo Minseo agreed to the unthinkable with that curious little grin of hers.

They entered into this faux relationship with a naive level of optimism. ( Even now, he is forced to wonder if they are still naive thinking things could end, too, without a hitch? ) For Hyunsoo, not much else mattered aside from his mother being pleased; and then, her utter absence from his life. With the latter in near full accomplishment, he finds no need to continue stringing Minseo along in this way. She is a young woman with her own life to live, and he is well aware he cannot ask her for help forever.

They come to another agreement: they will break up and announce it to her parents. Reasonable, if he thinks of how to rationalize the decision. ( Despite his brief panic that, perhaps, they should tell them the truth. ) They would claim they are both too busy for a proper relationship, too tired to see each other as they should; let alone speak.

Even so, Hyunsoo would be remiss if he neglected to show up for Minseo's birthday. Any day or two late and she would end up terribly busy again. He decides to make himself known a few days early, instead. A breezy summer Saturday just before the sun crests at noon.

He steps quietly into the Seo family's sitting room, hands folding behind his back as he does so. It is quiet save for his footsteps.

"Minseo," he calls out to her with a gentle voice — perhaps akin to the sweet chirp of a chickadee delighted to meet a friend after so long. "Your father told me you might be sitting in here. Would the birthday girl care to spare me a moment?"

Far be it from Seojin to have expected a second season for his beloved show but he arrives on set with a rare showing of all-smiles; albeit a tad lopsided. A staff member behind the camera remarks that he has been smirking for the entirety of the shoot preparation. He immediately shifts his expression with a swipe of his hand, revealing his usual resting expression instead.

With his hands gesturing wildly despite his stoic expression, he paints a picture of dissonance as he speaks — loudly, at that. "Everyone, welcome to the second season of Noraebattle," he holds his hand out to the camera, that signature smirk suddenly reappearing. "If you've been watching the show so far, you should know the rules but I'll give you a refresher."

After detailing the concept, he nods toward Minseo, silently indicating with his eyes for the younger to step forward.

"Our guest for the day is a rookie idol who only just debuted last month. You should already know a bit of her voice by now, right?" When she steps into frame he makes a show of clapping, but keeps his mannerisms a bit subdued for the time being. He entrusts the editors to splice over an edit of her name and group.

"Do you want to do an introduction of yourself? Have you already decided what songs you're gonna beat me with?"

within one year, this is milan’s 3rd time travelling aboard. considering she’s never travelled outside of south korea before july 2022, traveling still is an exciting novelty to her. unlike the previous summer, they would only be gone for a couple of days, and likely even too busy to properly visit spain. a bit of a shame, when put like that. for now though, the new girlgroup and staff are stuck on a 12 hours flight to barcelona. so far, milan has managed to eat, listen to music, read a bit, fall asleep and wake up again, yet they aren’t near their destination just yet. she yawns and stretches her legs and arms in front of her best way she can. she turns her head to the side and sees minseo deep in sleep, mouth slightly ajar. “cute” she whispers to herself, fishing her phone out to take a picture of the sleeping beauty. she hears a soft laugh somewhere close to her. the girl turns her head, eyes wide when she realizes shinhye has caught her in the act with her camera. “didn’t think you were so mischevious” the manager teases her and milan shakes her head. “she’s just so cute!” she defends herself quickly. maybe a bit too loud as she feels minseo stir by her side. she quickly hides her phone again, and silently pleads shinhye with her eyes to not tell on her.

“you’re right, who knows what’ll happen if we split up — like hyunsoo said, if we all get eaten, at least it’s together?” and there was somewhat of a comfort in the thought. “maybe if the worms eat us all at once, it’ll get a stomach ache and throw us back up? worms don’t chew their food right?” 

he clicks his tongue as he takes a second to actually feel around for his surroundings. it was confusing, before the vibrations had felt like air, coming in and out, with pauses in between but now … it was starting to feel like a heartbeat, as if the very caves they were following were alive with the rumbling, but that couldn’t be the case, right? 

( were they getting closer or was something getting closer to them? )

a hand raises to scratch the back of his head, unexpectedly shaking rambo from his perch; unstable little paws grappling for an even landing as slips from his head, wings spread in flight. jino watches the little critter float above their heads, veering away from their group by a couple feet up ahead when a glint sparks his curiosity. jogging forward, a hand reaches for rambo, resettling the guy into the crook of his cheolick, before grabbing the object that had been partially hidden by the dirt of their path. 

rushing back to the others, he thrusts his hand into the middle to reveal his find. “guys, guys — is this … an ore?” it definitely didn’t look like any ore that he had seen before.

not with the way it sparkled, and with a good rub against the cloth at his hip, it shone between his fingers like the light of the sun. he raises it up to eye level, squinting as he feels the glare from the crystal felt too bright his eyes. 

“do you think this means we’re getting closer?” 

if this wasn’t any indication of such, maybe the constant trembles from below would tell them. 

hayoung drops her shoulders. as much as she thrives in chaos and kind of started the debate, all the different opinions hurt her head, but when she steps back and watches them for a bit, she realizes something: it’s the kind of mix that would make any ordinary person second-guess whether this was a good idea, but it works. they've got everything they need to survive this: caution, empathy, optimism, and strategy. what others could see as a problem, hayoung perceived as an advantage.

so she can't help but smile at taeha's excitement and wild imagination. and while it's tempting to let her continue living in that happy bubble, hayoung has to be rational. "we're not splitting up! isn't it the number one rule in a group mission?" she says, her voice rising above the tension. "not that i like rules but let's not lose anyone today."

her smile grows warmer as she listens to hyunsoo; he always had a knack for thinking ahead and she appreciates it. "secret passages, crawls spaces — those could be our best bet." she says before crossing her arms, "as for the worms… fighting them is probably the worst thing to do considering their size. but they live in this cave, huh? if we can track their movements, we might be able to figure out where they won't go and what to avoid. sounds, vibrations, scents, anything…"

hayoung glaces at the others, her usual confidence and adventure spirit now mixed with an unusual hint of calculation. "what you said before, taeha… feeding them is not a bad idea. maybe something from the cave is more interesting than us. if we find out what they're drawn to, we can lure them from where we need to go."

THE OTHER MAN. where jino finds out that @lgcminseo has a boyfriend and that it isn't him. shocking, we know. see also: fake dating, hyunsoo, and other things jino cooks up in his dumb brain.

it wasn’t that jino made it a point to loiter at someone else’s house — it was just that when he’s invited, he hardly has reason to say no.

even when he’s not invited, he would go anyways and maybe that is where problems like this began.

sitting at the island, jino wordlessly fiddles with his phone, typing away at a couple messages here and there as he waits for minseo. he doesn’t quite remember what their plans were — but he has a feeling they have something to do with some inferno show that suddenly returned to netflix. he should probably look it up before she gets back from the bathroom.

he forgets if her parents are home — but the noise in the hall alerts him that, maybe they were — the voice that comes shortly after quickly dashes all doubts that they weren’t.

minseo, is your boyfriend coming over?

jino feels his ears perk — boyfriend? he looks in the direction of the voices, since when did minseo get a boyfriend — he stares at his reflection in the shiny refrigerator door. nah — she couldn’t, could she?

nah — wait … her mom didn’t think ... that they were ... that she and him… he and her? no …

that couldn’t be it.

why is jino here? shouldn’t you invite your boyfriend over too?

oh, so there was some other guy besides him — besides him?

eh, other than him? no — he shakes his head, that doesn’t sound right either. his head lands into his palm as he thinks about who this lucky unfortunate bastard could be.

✿ Much like in lgc!verse, Taeha followed after her older brother, Taekyung ( npc ), who is a current fourth year music theory major at LGCU. Although she auditioned for the Dance program on a bit of a whim, she's happy to have found her home at LGCU ( and to be able to bother her bro on the regular basis òuó ). ✿ She absolutely love, love, LOVES ( !!! ) being in the dance major and spends most of her time in one of the campus studios rehearsing. She's even begun to choreograph her own contemporary pieces and is looking forward to taking a leadership role in this year's showcase if her dance professor will allow it ( ...or until they give in because Taeha just won't stop asking and sneaking baked goods into their office until they do - ) ✿ Taeha is co-founder and co-captain of LGCU's unofficial Spirit Squad, alongside @lgcxminji. You can find the two skipping around campus in their .✰*DIY spirit squad shirts and handing out mini promposal macarons to every student they meet, inviting them to a big group photo at the end of the night.

✿ Has atrocious handwriting, but that doesn't stop her from leaving notes of encouragement in various locations around campus. Don't be surprised if you find a 'you can do it!' note at your lunch table or a 'don't give up!' in a random book you pick up at the library.

✿ Speaking of library, when not hanging out in @lgcminseo's dorm room or pestering @hyunsoolgc to add a ~ love column ~ to the school newspaper, she can be found in there 'studying' ( translation: catching up on the latest Attack on Titan manga with @lgcjino ).

✿ She also really hopes that he knows what's going on in their Astronomy class, because she dragged @yoonalgc into it thinking they were going to be reading each other's birthcharts and finding soulmates and now Professor Nahee is asking about Dwarf Galaxies and apparently there aren't seven of them and they have nothing to do with Snow White -

✿ But the library is not always for procrastination and shenanigans! Being a native English speaker, she spends most Saturdays volunteering for language exchanges with other international students, and even started to participate as a learner herself. So far, she's picked up quite a bit of Japanese, so she's certain she'll get at least a B in her 'Japanese Conversation Through Movies' course ( and worst case scenario she'll just blink some morse code to @lgcxsofi for presentation answers ).

✿ In the spring, she's known for fluttering around campus in a pair of cheap fairy wings claiming to be 'Campus Cupid' and delivering confession notes ( real or staged ) and playing matchmaker for both students and faculty alike ( looking at you Professor Eunsook ).

✿ When it came to her own confession during last year's 'Campus Cupid' run, she accidentally shot a suction cup arrow directly at @seyoonlgc's face and hasn't been able to show her face in front of him since.

✿ ...Or at least she tried not to until she realized they were both in the same beginner yoga class. At least she can hide out in the corner giggling with @yujinlgc and taking naps - I mean, practicing her shavasana.

✿ And last but not least, Taeha has been so ridiculously excited for prom she can barely stand it! She's got THE dress, the shoes, and the best friends in the whole world ( even in all the Dwarf galaxies!!! ) and she can't wait to dance the night away with all of them ( and annoy them to no end by taking polaroids every five minutes ).

Nayoung entertaining her silly question brings a smile to her face, widening fully at the corners and naturally reaching her eyes. She knew that the young woman was most likely right about it being a waste, but had she had her phone on her, she would have searched for the nearest grocery simply out of curiosity. Nothing could ever be a waste if the act was done with positive intentions, right? Her mind drifts to Australia, silently wondering if the group would get to travel there one day for a concert, or even shooting a music video like this experience.

“Ah, Na-Nayoung…” Her voice trails off, spotting Shinhye over the young woman’s shoulder with a camera. She is more distracted about how she should refer to her from now on. She wanted to remain respectful, but she usually waited for the other person to let them know how to refer to them whether it was their name, a nickname, or a honorific title. “You have to promise me that if we visit Australia in the summer to try it out with me. It’ll be on my bucket list!”

She quietly observes Nayoung searching through the shells, following suit despite not knowing what she was looking for. Her attention snaps towards the youing woman at the sound of shock, lips parting too when the shell falls on the sand and scurries off. “I think you rocked their world…” She mumbles, chuckling softly. “It could be worse. Like a crab!” She drops her sneakers, using her hands to create ‘claws’ that snap at Nayoung. “Ready to bite you with it’s claws.”

the thought of visiting another country sounded too good to be true. maybe one day, far off in the future when Nova could travel to places for a world tour. is that thinking too far ahead? she's sure it will happen if the girls can stay together, and perform together for the next few years. maybe get a real big break with a song... nayoung is being hopeful here. she will keep her wistful thoughts to herself at this time. they haven't even actually debuted yet, officially. they're prepping for it. it's time to be realistic here! "that would be so cool. i have a big secret though... i am so uncomfortable with english speaking places for the most part because i feel this pressure to know english better, yet i don't. it's the same with our songs... i need to get better. hopefully they'll really cram in some tutoring sessions with us. but when the trainees had to go to LA, i suddenly became mute. that was not fun." her expressions are clear as day, and the cameras continues to roll. "but there's only improvement from here on out," knowing she has to show a good image for the public. "otherwise, we can't fry our eggs in Australia," she laughs with minseo.

her nose crinkles in response to minseo's cute actions with the claws, and the mood is light, and nayoung starts walking side to side like a crab, although it ends up feeling more like a work out than anything. "this stance is such a work out. why does it remind me of cardio... oh no, not me working out subconsciously," nayoung straightens herself back up to a normal position. "next thing you know, i'll be doing jumping jacks. but the atmosphere is so nice. i'd almost say, 'race you', but the stylists might be not happy if we come back all sweaty.. or?"

the experience is a surreal situation, from future dreams to being whisked off to the new plans the company had for them. nayoung has no complaints. mostly. if she did, she kept it to herself because the pros outweighed the cons. and being overseas, and filming. well. she never signed up to be an actress, but she wasn't going to say no. it let her meet so many other trainees from the company that she'd only seen in passing before future dreams and debut bootcamp kept her busy for what felt like the past year. has it been a year?

if she's being too handsy and casual, she hopes that minseo doesn't mind her arm around the others' shoulders, slung casually, when they stood standing for a while. releasing minseo, she moves back against the water front and stares at the water, before back at her group mate. "i heard it's possible in Australia! which is crazy, but i've never been there before so i can't say for sure... i bet we'd waste an egg if we tried it here," nayoung laughs.

the slight downtime they had from filming was so nice, especially being on set when the leads were filming their parts. "my mom used to say you could hear the ocean in the shells, but i can't seem to find a shell big enough." she picks one up and swears she sees a snail or slug still in it and makes a squawk before dropping it back down. "oh my gosh, literal jump scare. i think there was something moving in this one!!"

Among the utterances of 'are you sure about this' and 'what ifs', Hyunsoo found himself complying with Minseo's whim, regardless. Albeit friendly and pleasant, that smile of hers when turned to a pout did not offer him any propensity toward refusing her ideas—sigh inducing as they may be. And so, here they are, arms locked on the way up the stairs to this multi-family seollal celebration. It is not the first one, nor will it be the last. Despite the holiday, many of the parents and even grown children have busied themselves with business deals and other such things. It was only natural for some odd bored households colluding on the days in between.

He is the sole representative of the Lee family. Strange, but not unheard of given his mother's most recent, terribly timed breakdown. ( A relief, frankly. ) But, there are more eyes on him this time than there should have been; particularly those of Minseo's family, and a fleeting, reddened face slinking into some corridor upon seeing their shoulders bumping.

Hyunsoo turns his head, near flinching when the sturdy voice of Minseo's father rings out a bit louder than he would have anticipated. Not so loud. His mind goes numb, only registering the word "newlyweds". He can only manage an awkward laugh and shake of his hand in denial. ( Oh, the guilt he will feel when they call things off; knowing it had been a ruse this entire time. ) Halfway through the conversation, he leans in toward Minseo, teeth grit in a forced smile. "Minseo? I'm getting a bit ... hungry. We should get something to eat, hm?"
