World Radio Day: Honoring the Power of Sound in Connecting Communities Worldwide

Radio is sound communication by radio waves, usually through the transmission of music, news, and other types of programs from single broadcast stations to multitudes of individual listeners equipped with radio receivers. Broadcast radio remained the most widely available electronic mass medium in the world, though its importance in modern life did not match that of television, and in the early 21st century it faced yet more competitive pressure from digital satellite- and Internet-based audio services. Radio is a uniquely personal medium, invoking a listener’s imagination to fill in mental images around the broadcast sounds. Radio also can employ a boundless plethora of sound and music effects to entertain and enthrall listeners. Since the birth of this medium, commercial broadcast companies as well as government organs have made conscious use of its unique attributes to create programs that attract and hold listeners’ attention.

World Radio Day is celebrated on February 13 every year to acknowledge and celebrate the significance of radio in shaping society and culture globally. It is a day to recognize the importance of radio in promoting information, education, and entertainment across diverse communities.

Z veřejnoprávního Českého rozhlasu odešel spoluhráč ruského Sputniku

Ano, odešel. Ale ne kvůli jeho napojení na Rusy, to v Českém rozhlasu nikdy nevadí. Dohnala ho jeho nenažranost v jiné kauze.

Nedávno rozhlas v Praze hostil prestižní konferenci Radiodays Europe, která se prezentuje jako „nejinovativnější a nejkreativnější iniciativa ve světě rozhlasu a zvuku“. Jak to jde dohromady s ��devadesátkovým“ spolupracovníkem generálního ředitele, ví zřejmě jen René Zavoral.

Generální ředitel Českého rozhlasu René Zavoral najal jako „odborného pracovníka“ Jaroslava Rezníka, který fatálně zasáhl do fungování veřejnoprávních médií na Slovensku. Nyní ohrožuje Český rozhlas jako médium veřejné služby.

Blízký spolupracovník ředitele Českého rozhlasu Reného Zavorala a bývalý šéf slovenských veřejnoprávních médií Jaroslav Rezník má problém. Zahraniční studium jeho dcer měl totiž platit majitel agentury Roko Petr Kuba, který je aktuálně obžalován v jedné z největších korupčních kauz na Slovensku. Z dokumentů, které získal slovenský Denník N, vyplývá, že Kuba v letech 2015 až 2020 poslal Rezníkovi přibližně 200 tisíc eur, tedy zhruba 4,6 milionu korun. Bývalý ředitel slovenské televize a rozhlasu (RTVS) tvrdí, že mu peníze vracel v hotovosti.

Podnews: Your Reliable Source For News On Podcasting

 The daily news boasts an impressive average open rate of around 43%, significantly above the industry average. He was an advisor to podcast host Captivate, which was acquired by Global in December 2021.

One of the organizers of Next Radio, the UK radio ideas conference, James has worked with the world’s largest radio conference, Radiodays Europe, since its inception. He’s also part of the programming team for Radiodays Asia and Podcast Day 24.

A founder of the hybrid radio technology association RadioDNS, he is an Associate Member of the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, and was made an Honorary Life Member of the UK’s Student Radio Association.

Cridland, who readily admits he is passionate about audio, has published an international radio trends newsletter since 2017. Cridland is one of the most influential thought leaders in audio and podcasting. In April 2023, Podnews announced the acquisition of Podcast Business Journal, a well-respected newsletter from Streamline Publishing Inc.

“I’m delighted to welcome Podcast Business Journal into the Podnews family,” said Cridland at the time of the acquisition. “We’re pleased to continue to document the growth of the podcast industry, and maintain Podcast Business Journal’s role of independent coverage for serious podcasters.”

“As Podnews continues to grow, with our series of networking events called Podnews Live, the in-depth weekly podcast Podnews Weekly Review and other plans in the works, we see great benefit in an additional brand to focus on those in business,” Cridland added.

Born in the UK, Cridland lives in Brisbane, Australia with his wife and daughter.
