Speaking with actor Jason Watkins about my childhood.
When Iād just self-published āPoems From a Runawayā the Charity āMissing Peopleā got in touch. As well as writing a blog for them which I currently canāt find, I spoke with actor Jason Watkins as part of the charity appeal. Please do consider supporting Missing People as often the efforts undertaken behind the scenes to care, protect and reunite people and families can be easily overlooked.ā¦

What do you think about the AU where Alastor meets the Devil while heās still alive? thereās plenty of potential with that š
I have a couple of fics saved with that AU!
But otherwise, I havenāt given the AU a lot of thought. It would be fun to explore a dynamic between Lucifer and Alastor if they were to have know each other pre-Alastor death, even more so if Lucifer forgot about Alastor and Alastor very much remembered him.
Lmao itād bring a whole new context to Alastorās instant saltiness towards Lucifer. The guy got wham, bam, thank you maāam-ed and then Lucifer never called him back. The bitterness is so real.
Especially when he realizes Lucifer doesnāt even remember him (or recognize him š due to his deer/demon characteristics). Alastor probably wouldnāt say anything about it, though, heād just keep needling and insulting Lucifer like a scorned ex-lover, and Lucifer has no idea why but heās gonna needle and insult him back, even if thereāsā¦something strangely familiar about Alastorā¦something he canāt quite put his finger onā¦
FUCK - I literally havenāt considered this AU AT ALL, and now Iām developing a whole fic idea. Anon what have you done š©
#you dont understand I already have too many WIPās#so many#i cant keep adding more to the pile itās beginning to clutter#but FUCK now Iām starting to see the appeal in this AU#SHIT FUCK#stop tempting me with new fic ideas š©#hazbin hotel#alastor#hazbin alastor#hazbin hotel alastor#the radio demon#lucifer morningstar#lucifer magne#hazbin hotel lucifer#asks#anon#anonymous#appleradio#radioapple

Was just thinking about how different the rollout for TTPD has been, like how thereās been next to no promo other thank sparing social media and how (at least so far) the only single theyāve pushed is Fortnight and how the records theyāre chasing seem to be album focuzed, and it strikes me again how it really was crafted as An Album Experience. It was one story, as messy and chaotic and heartbreaking and euphoric as it was, and it just kinda feels to me like that was the whole point.
She could have started pushing more singles and videos (and who knows, maybe she will) but my guess is that this is how TTPD is going to be left in the record books. She needed to write it and she needed to release it and she thus became this anthology ā a collection of works about a period of her life ā and itās kind of standing on its own. Itās just super interesting both creatively and from a business perspective.
#she could have kicked even more ass with another single#or more promo#or whatever#but she basically dropped the album and peaced out and went back on tour#sheās pushing for the number one on the album charts#but not really doing a ton for fortnight that I can see#and I think itās just like#she knew it wasnāt necessarily going to have the radio friendly appeal#but as a collection was important to her as an artist and person idk#the tortured poets department

So, yesterday, I remembered to glance at current dramas on BBC Sounds again for the first time in a while, and got a huge and wonderful shock on finding this at the top of the SFF category.
It's a 1971 6 part supernatural series starring Martin Jarvis & Patricia Gallimore. I don't think it's ever been repeated since. At least parts of it were missing for a while, and I had no idea whether the rest of it was extant or not. But I liked the sound of it enough that I bought the novelisation, and it was top of my impossible radio listening wishlist.
Yesterday, I got to listen to Part 1, Part 2 should be broadcast later today!
ETA: You can listen to the link regardless of where you are in the world! (UK listeners just get the Sounds app as well if they want it.)
#radio#audio drama#martin jarvis#the twelve maidens#stewart farrar#margaret govan#peter brent#1970s#sff#it does indeed seem very engaging so far#\o/#anyway if you read the summary it's a VERY 1970s dw-esque sort of thing#so might appeal to the bf crowd too#apparently radio 4 xtra has an email address and you can just say#'hey play this serial from 1971'#and they do#amazing#/gets out rest of list#/is inevitably too weedy to even try asking#thanks to colin and steven whoever you are#you totally made my week

Winnie the Pooh is inspiring Manchesterās kids to read
It's great news from Wood Street Mission and the Books Forever Appeal! Over 8,000 children's books have been donated so far and amongst them are the stories of Winnipeg the Bear -aka the real life Winnie The Pooh- and the Canadian veterinarian Harry D. Colebourn.
I'm positive that books like these will inspire Manchester's young people to read and with more WSM Book Roadshows planned in our city's schools, Wood Street Mission are still in need of brand new or good condition pre-loved books for children and young people.
In 2022, WSM distributed over 20,500 books to disadvantaged young people across Manchester and thanks to support from the public, it's brilliant that each child gets to take home 5 books to keep. Through such acts of kindness, you are helping to overcome barriers that children in low-income families face.
But did you know that donating to Wood Street Missionās 'Books Forever Appealā couldnāt be easier? You can drop off a book in person or have it delivered direct to the Wood Street Mission, 26 Wood Street, Manchester, M3 3EF, The UK.
Wood Street Mission is located next to the John Rylands Library on Deansgate. You can also visit woodstreetmission.org.uk for more information or to make a secure online donation.

It is crazy to me that Alastor was born closer to the VICTORIAN ERA than the modern day.

guess who managed to mention dnp in his a level media exam š„š„
#okay it was relevant i promise#basically okay the question was about to what extent is it vital for media products to identify and address a target audience to be#successful and we study 2 radio products#one is newsbeat which is by the bbc it's like a news radio show that's meant to target age 15-29#but the average listener is 30#so . it is Not effectively targeting its audience#it gives . how do you do fellow kids#like it tries really really hard to appeal to young adults/teenagers but it's . painful to listen to sometimes#the bbc have been trying to target this age bracket coz it's the one they don't have a secure audience in#I SAID that they used to have a slightly bigger younger audience in the early 2010s#bcos they had the dan and phil show on radio 1 which was very popular and attracted their mainly teenage/young adult presold audience#they used the popularity of the internet to their advantage by having dnp run a show#but now they've lost a lot of their younger audience To social media platforms#as now what are called digital natives in media (people who have grown up with the internet/don't really remember a time before it)#for the most part prefer to get their news off social media rather than radio#a lot of this is general i know not Every young person Hates radio#but in general it's losing popularity esp amongst younger target audiences#media š„š„š„š„#that was only like . a mention in one paragraph tho#coz unfortunately we don't study dnps radio show we study Newsbeat š#anyway the exam was overall good for the most part#yay :3#joeyposting

The phenomenon of certain radioapple artists drawing Alastor looking like this manly handsome hunk is just ridiculous when in canon he's a feminine looking twink who's thin as hell with a tiny little waist and long legs. It's so painful to me. They're fucking de-twinkifying Alastor and denying him of his girlypop status for their macho top agenda š
NOT THE MACHO TOP AGENDA ć½(`ŠĀ“)ļ¾
The denial of his girlypop status is what gets me the most. Why would they take away his sassy wrist flicks? Where's his whimsy? Where's the side of him that called Susan an "ornery old bitch" in the sassiest way possible?
They've stolen his flamboyancy. His trolling nature. His āØpizzazzāØ
I don't like macho Alastor. He scares me (ŹāæŹ)
#whats that one meme#I fear no man#but that thing (points at macho Alastor)#it scares me#his girlypop status was revoked and its the unjustice of it#why does Lucifer get to have all the girlypop???#he wasn't even that girlypop IN the show#Lucifer is more of a girlfail than a girlypop#it's his messiness that appeals to me#that guy is one stubbed toe away from losing it#GiveAlastorBackHisGirlyPopStatus2024#asks#anon#anonymous#hazbin hotel#alastor#hazbin alastor#hazbin hotel alastor#the radio demon#lucifer morningstar#lucifer magne#appleradio#radioapple

@pocket-size-cthulhu
I'm making a separate post bc I kind of sent myself down a rabbit hole. I wanna clarify that I am a Big Hozier Fan and that most country music is a different lyrical ballpark entirely bc of the nature of the genre. (If I had to describe it I'd say it's more literal and storytelling than the whole, like, in-the-woods poetry thing hozier's got going on.)
Anyway I tried to find some that have the same kind of poetry to them or at least aren't about dirt roads and, like, alcoholism. (this is very hard to do there are so many songs about drowning your sorrows in alcohol. I think maybe that's a bad thing but what do I know about songwriting)
Zach Bryan - Something in the Orange
Ryan Bingham - Wolves
Deana Carter - Strawberry Wine
Chris Stapleton - Tennessee Whiskey
Brooks and Dunn - Neon Moon
Uncle Lucius - Keep The Wolves Away
Juice Newton - Angel of the Morning
Johnny Cash - God's Gonna Cut You Down
The Band Perry - All Your Life
Lee Ann Womack - I Hope You Dance
Josh Turner - Would You Go With Me
I also have a few that I think just have generally clever lyrics that you probably won't enjoy very much if you don't like country music:
Rodney Atkins - If You're Going Through Hell
Sugarland - It Happens
Jessica Andrews - Who I Am
Billy Currington - People are crazy
Blake Shelton - Honeybee
Tim McGraw - Just to See You Smile
#text post#if you dont like any of these that is also fine#this is more about proving country music is about more than hot women and beer and trucks even if thats all ur gonna hear on the radio lol#also i appreciate that u asked for suggestions I love forcing music on others bc I steal other people's song tastes all the time#big reason why I'm on a punk music kick rn#and why I was super into dsbm the past few months#trying to get back into pop to spice up my regular playlist but the farthest I've gone is like. chance the rapper and kanye so getting there#i digress#I think especially the something in the orange will appeal to a hozier fan#most of these are straight picked for having pretty lyrics a la poetry so a lot of them are slow and sad#not on purpose tho thats just how country music is#also theres something to be said about how hozier is like catholic symbolism where country music is mostly protestant#so theres a lot of god gave me you the devil's out to get me instead of youre the light of my life and my sole source of divinity
