Masters of the Air | Teaser
In case you missed it the teaser for #MastersOfTheAir is out and it looks quite epic. it stars #AustinButler, #CallumTurner, #BarryKeoghan, and #NcutiGatwa. The series premieres January 26 on @appleTV.
Writer: Donald L. Miller (Book) Creators: John Orloff, John Shiban Stars: Austin Butler, Callum Turner, Ben Radcliffe, Anthony Boyle, Nate Mann, It would have been weird if this teaser wasn’t as epic as it is, it’s a Spielberg production after all. It looks awesome and the cast is just too interesting to ignore yet, I don’t know if this is something I’ll want to dive into in…

I don't know what's going on, but for the last two days all I keep thinking is that I need to see Jonathan Groff and Daniel Radcliffe as Hawk and Tim, and Matt Bomer and Jonathan Bailey as Frank and Charley.
I know they all have it in them so someone please make that happen, thank youuuuu
forgive the insanity for a moment but.... going from merrily we roll along to fellow travelers has been such a mind fuck. like, it's not that they're that similar (and they have very different tones and purposes), but I'm a character person at heart, and like- both stories follow a relationship that spans decades and that is doomed to fall apart because one of the people in it can't find a way to reconcile their love with their ambition* (Frank in Merrily, Hawk in FT)**.
And both shows span pretty much the same decades, but in FT we go forwards and we end up absolutely heartbroken, but in MWRA we go backwards and so, even though the story is just as much a tragedy as in FT, you actually come out of it feeling happy and light and giddy.
All this to say, I think now I need to see FT in reverse? I'm so curious how Hawk and Tim's relationship would hit if we watched it backwards and then had to reconcile seeing them young and stupid and in love with the absolute tragedy that we jnow it's their ending. Like, I feel like it would be more cruel, but also it would maybe heal me?! Because the way my chest is aching for them truly isn't it atm.
*this is an oversimplification ofc. Please let me point out that (1) I'm a Franklin Shepard girlie to death and (2) I think Hawk is overall an awful person, especially to Tim, AND his actions make perfect sense in the context of his life and the traumas he carried
**i've previously said that Frank and Max from Black Sails are the same character and I stand by that, but let me now add that Hawk and Eleanor Guthrie are the same!!! Starting to think that every complex and morally grey queer character has a Black Sails parallel lol
Also taking this truly unhinged post to point out how much I think that Tim, when he first met Hawk, is a pretty accurate and wonderful representation of sub swoons, which we don't get a lot of? (Like, the moment where Hawk is like "I think you should go inside and lock the door and never think of me again" and Tim is like "Absolutely. By thr way, my lock is broken, woops" is truly unhinged and made lol so hard) I love how freaky and kinky Hawk and Tim's relationship was and how much screen time was given to them just exploring their dynamic. It made me very happy

WHO'D YOU RATHER?: 100 MALE ACTORS EDITION
A game I often spring on friends who are as obsessed with pop culture as I am is Who'd You Rather?. The terms are loose and we usually do it as a progression (so your last choice is often pitted against a new one). It's light fun but my diabolical goal is usually to torture someone with a choice of nearly equal weight (like I did to myself with the first two selections).
Sharing this here in case anyone would like to join in 😊 My own picks are in bold. If anyone has a round or two for me, feel free to add it in the comment section.
