Satoru is lamenting how he wish he could do something to help and it's in that moment of vulnerability that Daifuku appears to him. Feels like it's happening because Satoru has a desire to do something and not just because it's an obligation

They didn't get Bank, but the sequence was probably just as cool; spinning around, flashy effects, happening in real-time. I didn't expect them to go that hard with it. It was actually animated!

Also it was Yuu Yoshiyama, so there were at least two easter egg impact frames - one where Daifuku's hand turns back into a rabbit paw and one where the background is filled with orange sparkles in the shape of rabbits

Satoru does the Usual post-transformation pose of staring at his appearance all shocked, while Daifuku just has his hand on his hip, like he' saying "pretty cool, huh?"

Daifuku just grabs Satoru's hand and takes him, which gets Satoru all surprised

As they jump in the air, Satoru's screams turn into laughter as he realises how cool this is

Their attack is just making a giant Daifuku, which is the perfect silly kind of attack for this type of series. In the movie it was like a barrier to enclose the enemy, but here they just launch it at them to make a hole to Subaru

the fact they never show his mouth moving is making me think the crackpot theory that daifuku didn't talk until the very end was because they legitimately didn't know how to animate him talking with that little bunny mouth

I don't know if anyone in the (English) fanbase has thought about the secret cursed scenario:

Daifuku and Satoru become Precure and do have their own transformation item, but...it's only sold on a pre-order basis via Premium Bandai.

Cause I'm pretty sure Kamen Rider does that sometimes

That way they don't need to worry about not having enough time to advertise the thing, because they're only selling it to hardcore otaku who have free time to order these things as soon as they become available.

They did that with the Cure Wing kids costume, too.

(Also god if Yuu Yoshiyama didn't animate anything of Daifuku that is the cruelest tease ever)

Okay here are my last ditch efforts at copium for satodai before tomorrow's episode ruins my life

Not only is there a big gap in the transformation, the characters are positioned in the same way as their pacts are in the OP, possibly room for one/two more (or a shared item...?) (counterpoint: extremely unlikely because it's so late in the year to add another item)

Yoshiyama Yuu, animator for some fight scenes in previous precure seasons and the animator of Cure Flamingo and Cure Butterfly's transformations, posted a few tweets referencing Daifuku, transformation bank, and how "she shouldn't work on anymore senpai(characters)" after this

Again this stupid ribbon in the middle of the pact not glowing when it's obviously yellow is annoying me. I'm posting it again.

Satoru and Daifuku make pretty prominent appearances in the 2025 calendar illustrations, and while there are no cure forms for them, Cure Muse didn't make it into the suite precure calendar either. She only appears in her disguised form and her civilian form as Ako.

I think the next episode (36) is the last chance Satoru or Daifuku have at joining the team honestly while still having the pacing make sense... Satoru or Daifuku would then beat Cure Muse for the latest cure debut.

Counterpoint to above: Takumi/Black Pepper also appeared prominently in the delicious party calendar, and he was just a supporter character, so it's possible it doesnt mean anything.

it's a very dangerous thing they did

i was always gonna hyperfixate on it because they're the best and then they also did "btw this is like a real-time transformation sequence and if you go frame by frame you can kind of see how it all happens"

there's shortcuts, of course, but that's the whole point of animation anyway. as long as you see enough that your brain gets the gist of what's going on

it's kind of different to the usual bank animations where, you know. they've always got a pattern to it. you go piece of clothing by piece of clothing. magical shiny thing hits them, bam, it turns into the piece of clothing. this one it's like "if transforming takes two seconds, what actually happens during those two seconds, like, realistically?"

the chaos council does not care for their child citizens. child safety laws aren’t their biggest priority at all. it’s quite normal to find a kid wasted on the sidewalk or a child being handed hard drugs because their parents can’t afford painkillers. in fact, child trafficking isn’t a crime at all. where else would they find subjects for biomechanical experimentation? the amount of children’s blood on the council’s hands is very far from dismissible.
