Just finished my 3rd read of umineko + been chipping away at the higu LN (have read the VN) + keep thinking about ciconia and I theoretically have sm to say about the portrayal of dissociative disorders in all three and how they got better over time with higurashi having some twists to the common trope of murderers with multiple personalities, umineko turns the whole thing on its head with "actually the murderer portrayed with multiple personalities didn't even kill anyone other than in thought crimes get wrecked" to "50% of these characters r systems everyone eat shit theyre all regular this is just a fun fact" in ciconia and I think it shows how much ryukishi actively tries to keep up with this kinda stuff and keeps evolving it. Same for the topic of genderqueerness, and esp in the times of writers like JKR and Co who r horribly stuck in their Conservative way this is so refreshing

OH update for anyone who witnessed my Umineko Griping the other day but after consulting w a friend who likes it a lot i switched to the manga and it’s a way better experience for me and I’m getting something out of it now lol. While it remains to be seen whether it will be an overall hit for me, I now feel able to grasp it, likely have the stamina to read through the entirety of it this way instead of getting stuck, feel able to take note of facts and theories, and tl;dr am no longer Suffering.

I've thought about it a lot actually! The main thing that stopped me is I'm not very good at art like...at all lol. I talked to a friend about it after getting this ask and they always pointed out I could write the full visual novel and then worry about art afterwords which is a good idea. I do have multiple ideas for what I think would be a good visual novel some romantic some just general horror/mystery themed (my fav type of visual novel)
