frankly the most interesting conversation surrounding the possibility of ace jughead isnt like representation discourse but rather what it says about how the show is approaching their 1950s characters. bc like the setup was that they are the exact same people (who are adults) but with their memories distorted/removed/whatever to believe they are 1) still teenagers and 2) living in the 50s. like this is consistent with how tabitha described it. HOWEVER, jughead, as we know him in the modern day, fucks. enjoys fucking, experiences sexual attraction, the whole nine yards. so if they are going the route of like a soft reset where this version of jughead is ace like...... what are the implications there

#i mean the implications is that theyre playing pretty fast and loose with the lore #like tabitha wasnt sent back in time bc shes an angel but 50s tabitha is still there #but there was no 50s tabitha bc tabitha is from modern times and she wasnt in the group that got sent back #so either they're paying attention to that and this is in fact another alternate dimension (this is my hope)#or theyre just like 'eh its not that they got sent to the 50s its just what if riverdale was in the 50s who cares'#hal also shouldnt be there by this logic #so. i really want them to do something with that but who ever knows with this show #r.tx

queerbaiting isnt even real tbh

#that is to say. the phenomenon that the term 'queerbaiting' was coined to describe is WAY rarer that we act like it is #i personally hate the way it was always defined as being done to appeal to ~progressive~ and/or gay audiences #no it was for straight women and always was #shows that i truly think are egregious queerbaiting were sherlock and merlin #spn is an interesting case bc it ABSOLUTELY is but it also clearly got ramped up in response to fan reactions #like i dont think it was at all intentionally gay in s4 or even maybe 5 like theres a Shift in how theyre written #and i think sherlock got WORSE in response to fans #but the gay jokes etc were there from the start #anyway the only other thing ive seen thats THAT kind of queerbait is free! the anime which #i think is very obviously For Straight Girls but again. so are all the others #anyway this is genuinely so interesting to me and i love to talk about it w ppl who feel differently #but i just think we throw around the term SO casually and very few things are actually Bait in the way it was coined to mean #probably teen wolf is but i never saw that #i also believe that supergirl got baity but i stopped watching after s2 and i dont think it was at that point #and that IS an evolved form that WAS for gay fans ofc #r.tx

lmao based on what i’m reading i think i’m just. not gonna watch the fatws finale like GOD it sounds bad. and the whole shows been bad and i just don’t want to put up with it anymore. ive been disregarding any canon post-winter soldier (or civil war, depending on the circumstances i guess) for years now and thats not about to stop now but god they have fucked these characters up so badly and i would so much rather they had stayed having almost no characterization at all

#when i say ignoring it i don't mean ignoring the problems like i've criticized endgame and obviously i have a lot of criticism about this #its just also like. i love bucky bc of catfa and catws. i love sambucky bc of infinity war.#this doesnt feel consistent with the little we did have about their characters and its just bad all around like #i still love sam and bucky and sambucky because of who they started out as and should have been #like i didn't stop loving steve or stevebucky after endgame bc it was dumb and didnt make sense anyway so like. i disregard it #thats what i mean #but like FUCK this version of bucky to be clear #and sams characterization is Weird and its all just a mess #r.tx
