Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying "I will try again tomorrow"

Quote number 51 :
"I used to think it was awful that life was so unfair. Then I thought, 'wouldn't it be much worse if life *were* fair, and all the terrible things that happen to us come because we actually deserve them?' So now I take great comfort in the general hostility and unfairness of the universe."

“Villain, I have done thy mother”
Titus Andronicus (Act 4, Scene 2)
Shakespeare? Buddy? You want to tell me what's going on right here, hm? Because that sounds like a medieval "your mom" and not comfortable feeling what I am right now.
Explain???

The whole article is worth a read but I pulled some money quotes.
In the conference room, Gambashidze was laying out his plans for a new target: Along with his colleagues, he began drafting what would become known as the Good Old USA Project. The project was supposed to influence the outcome of the US presidential election in favor of former president Donald Trump, specifically targeting certain minorities, swing-state residents, and online gamers, among others, in a scheme that included a full-time team dedicated to the cause.
They also specifically wanted to erode support for Ukraine and Biden and targeted gamers as the back-bone of the right-wing movement.
As well as getting Trump elected, the campaign’s secondary goals included increasing the percentage of Americans who believe the US is doing too much to aid Ukraine to 51 percent, and reducing the percentage of Americans who have confidence in President Joe Biden down to 29 percent. The plan lists a variety of audiences the campaign specifically wants to target, including residents of swing states, American Jews, “US citizens of Hispanic descent,” and the “community of American gamers, users of Reddit and image boards, such as 4chan.” The document describes this category of gamers and chatroom users as the "backbone of the right-wing trends in the US segment of the Internet.” In recent months, the Trump campaign has embraced many of the most influential figures within these communities, including many who share deeply misogynistic rhetoric on a regular basis.
And of course, they targeted social media, making sleeper groups intended to sway the election.
Meanwhile, Gambashidze and his colleagues used Facebook, Twitter, and Reddit to create community groups of Trump supporters, with one sample name given as “Alabama for America the Great.” The document also reveals that the Russians planned to use Reddit as a vector to disseminate their propaganda as it is a platform “free from democratic censorship.” Gambashidze’s plan outlined how Doppelganger would create 18 “sleeper cells” on social media platforms in each of the swing states, which would “at the right moment, upon gaining momentum, become an important instrument of influencing the public opinion in critically important states and portals used by the Russian side to distribute bogus stories disguised as newsworthy events.” It’s unclear if these so-called sleeper cells were created and, if so, whether they are still present on the platform.
They also targeted and looked at influencers, including politicians.
One of the key aspects of the Kremlin’s campaign is also to engage with influencers. According to the FBI’s affidavit, Gambashidze’s company “extensively monitors and collects information about a large number of media organizations and social media influencers.” According to the Good Old USA project document, the Kremlin was seeking to work with influencers who are “proponents of traditional values, who stand up for ending the war in Ukraine and peaceful relations between the US and Russia, and who are ready to get involved in the promotion of the project narratives.” Among the types of influencers listed as possible collaborators are actors, politicians, media representatives, activists, and clergymen.

At the beginning of the year, I thought I'd make a couple of little rec posts with a quote from some of my favourite fics, you know, something easy. And easy it was: with so many gorgeous fics that are out there, it's been such an absolute joy to keep finding quotes to share that I ended up making one each week for the whole year. I got so many lovely messages and tags about them and I'm so happy that I helped people discover new things to read. So, here is a masterlist of all the 50 quotes that I shared this year. (There are actually 51. Idk how that happened. Let's pretend it's a nice round number, it looks better on the banner😂)

U got headcanons?
For Wordgirl? Yes, lots of headcanons!
-Wordgirl and Tobey are both autistic! A fairly common one, but I really like it. (An argument could be made for literally every Wordgirl character, but these are my big ones!)
Wordgirl is shown to have a lot of trouble with being too blunt, being unsure what to do in
For Wordgirl? Well, we see that she’s extremely fixated on both words themselves and Pretty Princess and Magic Pony Power Hour.
She excels in language (which is due to her being Lexiconian, I’ll admit, but regardless) to the point where she isn’t allowed to compete in certain things anymore, while struggling severely in art related things. She also gets needlessly bothered by words being used incorrectly (any Learnerer episode is a good example of this), which is something I see exhibited by my sister a lot!
She *loves* collecting things for Pretty Princess, and in El Queso Mysterioso we see that she KNOWS IT WELL- even being able to identify the actor for “non-speaking toadstool 51” (or whatever it was) which is also very similar to my sister- she knows voice actors, episode numbers, etc like the back of her hand, it’s almost uncanny (and I mean that in the best way possible)
She’s also shown to have a “different” sense of humor in a way, often being the only one to laugh at her own jokes- and as well as this, she seems to have a hard time “people-ing” sometimes (especially in ways that other characters don’t). She seems to have a hard time holding back her reactions / being “tactful” at times, shown especially in the episode “Judging Butcher”- in my opinion, anyways.
I think the social things specifically could in some situations be defended by “well, Lexiconian culture is different!” but she barely grew up on Lexicon so I don’t think it works.
As far as Tobey, well, I over-analyze every scene he’s in- speaking or not- just because I love him that much, so uh…some of this is more background-y stuff!
In Tobey’s Playground Calamity, he’s shown to cover his ears when the rest of his class claps- “sensory overloads” are common in those on the spectrum and as someone who suffers from those, I absolutely relate 😭
As well as this, in “Mobot Knows Best” he’s shown to be overwhelmed when Becky and Violet invade his personal space, which is normal, but he seems somewhat distressed / nervous as well as confused, which makes it seem a little different.
He’s also….extremely fixated on robots, which are certainly his special interest (“Special interests are frequently developed by individuals with autism spectrum disorder, expressed as an intense focus on specific topics.”). His room is shown to be entirely robot themed, and he’s always thinking about them, seemingly-
He, as well, seems to have issues socializing. In a scene from “Trustworthy Tobey”, when he’s shown borrowing a book from Tobey, he seems a bit…”tactless”, for lack of a better word(girl), and his bluntness doesn’t seem to be out of carelessness as much as ignorance.
He’s shown to be very blunt and kind of (heavy quotes here) “different”, so….them’s my two cents!
Kid Math is also autistic but I don’t feel the need to defend that one
-Beau canonically loves birdwatching, so I like to imagine he used to have a pet bird named “Chica”! (This is specifically because I once doodled the following stupid interaction:
Beau, holding up a bird: “And this is my pet bird Chica!”
Tommy: “Like from FNAF?”
Beau: “get out of my house”
-Tommy is Seymour Smooth’s son and has been sent onto May I Have a Word as a spy. Belle Stunning is his mother because the layers of drama that adds makes me laugh.
-Scoops’ favorite musical is Newsies.
-Tobey tried to force himself to just latch onto Victoria instead of Becky, which is part of why we see him hanging out with her so much in “Kid Math 1&2”, but he quickly realized that she didn’t like him and he didn’t even like her.
-Kid Math has a crush on Violet. Just look at their little interaction and the foot-kick he does in the Kid Math episodes after talking to her!
-Dr. Two-Brains loves the movie Ratatouille and cries every time he watches it. His Henchmen like the Barbie movies, and Dr. Two-Brains berates them for watching them (but secretly likes a few of them).

Hi there! I have a quibble that I hope comes across as good faith and not anon hate: you quote statistics from the 2015 Transgender Study in a way that I think decontextualizes them. For example, trans men are more likely to be denied coverage for surgery (but not top surgery, which is considered cosmetic for trans women. Also, FFS was not included in the study and is almost never covered). Trans men face more harassment from police but trans women are more likely to be incarcerated, etc.
The point of the post (which is here) was just to debunk the myth that trans women are categorically "more oppressed" across the board. The stats I pulled were just a number of (fairly random) examples to that end, and I clarify in the text of that post, in reblogs, and in subsequent posts that the point is not to create a definitive list of The Ways Transmascs Are Most Oppressed- it's to demonstrate that the common assumption that trans women always have the highest rates of violence/discrimination in all areas is, y'know, patently not true.
All of those statistics represent only a narrow slice of a much more complicated issue.
To use your first example, "trans men are more likely to be denied coverage for surgery (but not top surgery, which is considered cosmetic for trans women. Also, FFS was not included in the study and is almost never covered"...
From the 2015 USTS Report:
"Transgender men (57%) were more likely to be denied surgery coverage than transgender women (54%) and non-binary people, including non-binary people with female on their original birth certificate (49%) and non-binary people with male on their original birth certificate (35%)" (p.95)
To my knowledge, the USTS did not actually outline surgery coverage rates for specific surgeries. But they do talk about the rates at which different people want, or have had, specific surgeries:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, right off the bat: you can see FFS (Facial Feminization Surgery) reported in Figure 7.14. But what strikes me more about these charts in this discussion is that it really does speak to a more complicated issue on the whole.
You could absolutely say trans men (26%) have top surgery more than trans women (11%), but that would also be misleading. 97% of trans men have had or want to have chest reconstruction or reduction, compared to 51% of trans women who have had or want augmentation mammoplasty... well, yeah, it makes a bit of sense that trans men have had this kind of surgery more. They want it more.
But for kicks, let's look at the "have had" vs. "want someday" ratios, for a better picture of what those denial rates might be: 37% of trans men who wanted top surgery (97%) have actually had it, vs. 27% of trans women who wanted it (51%). We don't know that "denied coverage" is the reason all of these people have not gotten it yet, but it's probably a factor; and yes, that does indicate a 10% gap with trans men ahead.
And for kicks, let's apply that same concept to a few other procedures. To use your other example, 14% of trans women who want FFS have had it. But that's also not a super popular surgery for trans women; electrolysis/laser hair removal is the most popular, and 50% who want it have actually had it. In comparison to the most popular surgery for trans men- top surgery; 37% who want it have had it- that's a 13% gap with trans women ahead.
Granted, electrolysis is generally less invasive and more accessible (though it also requires repeated appointments), but I also couldn't tell you how often it's covered by insurance.
You might also compare bottom surgery rates: 66% of trans women want or have had vaginoplasty, vs. 27% of trans men want metoidioplasty (meta), or 22% want phalloplasty (phallo). Of trans women who want it, 18% have had it. Of trans men who want it, 7% (meta) or 15% (phallo) have actually had it. That's a gap of 3% or 11%, with trans women ahead in both cases.
You may also note that for trans women, surgical procedures are not super popular; vaginoplasty is the most sought-after surgery, and it's also third on the overall list of procedures for trans women. Trans men do not have non-surgical transition procedures listed (or generally available, afaik). Which is, imo, important context for another relevant statistic: "Transgender men (42%) were more likely to have had any kind of surgery than transgender women (28%)".
My point is, again, just to say that this stuff is complicated. I grabbed those statistics because they were a quick way to demonstrate the more general point that this is not a black-and-white issue, that trans men do not oppress trans women (and vice versa!), and that trans men are not actually More Privileged In All Areas.
And like, yeah, when you look closer at the issues those statistics reference, there are more layers- that's the point! It's a 300 page document, you could have a lot of conversations around all of these numbers and what they mean.
The fact that I didn't have all of those conversations in that post was not an attempt to hide these complexities. It was a request that we start to engage in them, especially without gearing it toward the question "who has it worse?", when the actual questions we need to be answering are "why does that happen?", and "how do we solve it?"
What I wonder, also, is- what is your point in bringing this up? The examples you brought up were lacking context, and in one case fully untrue. I want to assume good faith as well, but your ask comes off as if you're trying to argue that transmascs never actually struggle in a comparable or unique way.

US Defense Firms Reluctant to Cooperate with Ukraine Due to Safety, Corruption
By Ahmed Adel
Global Research, August 15, 2024
US military contractors are concerned about corruption and the security of co-production in Ukraine and are therefore in no rush to sign contracts, a US State Department spokesperson said. Without the US being able to construct military-industrial infrastructure, Ukraine will never be able to meet its weapons and ammunition needs in the current war.
“Several US defense companies are considering joint production inside Ukraine, but questions remain about the safety of doing business in a war zone, the persistence of corruption, and the long-term business case,” Defense One reported on August 6, citing a State Department official spoken to on the sidelines of the Farnborough air show.
“The Pentagon has been pushing American defense contractors to increase collaboration with their Ukrainian counterparts, but US firms have been slower to ink deals than European companies,” the report added.
According to the State Department spokesperson, the main concerns are the security of employees and facilities, corruption, and political risks.
“I think our industry is really eager, but at the same time, [it] has to make sense from a business case, right? And financing is an issue too, how you can actually pay for this stuff,” the official added.
The source noted that Washington intends to increase the number of companies cooperating with Ukraine, that a team oversees such deals, and that US companies are generally open to dialogue. However, despite this supposed enthusiasm, another major concern is corruption.
“Clearly, corruption is a concern,” the official said.
Corruption is not an issue shared only by US companies, though. A survey conducted in February by Rating found that 51% of Ukrainians believe corruption in government bodies is a greater hindrance to development than the war with Russia (46%). A survey conducted from March 1 to 15 found that 70% of Ukrainians believe that the government is profiteering from the war and increasingly sinking into corruption, a massive increase from the 43% recorded a year earlier.
Although Washington, Brussels, and Kiev claim that corruption is being stamped out, as reflected by citizen experiences, this is certainly not the case. Multimillion/billion-dollar companies do not make investment decisions based on the government’s propaganda statements but on the reality on the ground, which is that deep-rooted corruption has been consolidated into fewer hands, mostly Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his inner circle.
Beyond the issue of corruption, there is also the likely scenario that Russian missiles and bombs will destroy any military-related infrastructure in Ukraine.
“But American companies have a lot to consider before they sign up for co-production in a war zone; no one wants their facilities blown up or employees getting hurt,” the official was quoted by Defense One as saying.

Is there any proof men that claim to be 'raped' actually suffer or are they whining for nothing? I'm so tired of this narrative that the poor male victims have it so bad.
Before anyone says anything, yes, I know this is might be a troll. Yes, I plan to answer the question anyway. (I'm feeding the audience not the troll. :) )
So ... let's start from the top.
You've emphasized "claim" and put raped in quotes, presumably to imply that men cannot be raped. However, I have previously established that, while less common, a significant number of men have experienced rape. While not the main focus of the post, I discussed the specific numbers, sourced from the CDC here [1].
The conclusion was that 11% - 26% of men report being raped (penetrated) and/or made to penetrate and/or coerced into sexual intercourse in their lifetime. (Readers may differ on which of these acts they consider "rape". That topic is also addressed in the linked post above. But even if you only consider acts where the victim is penetrated as rape: 1 in every 26 men report being non-consensually penetrated at some point in their life. That means that, if you know 26 men, it is likely you know a male rape victim.)
Beyond the frequency, however, I have no idea why you'd think that any rape victim is "whining for nothing". Even if there was only 1 single man (or 1 single woman for that matter) who had ever been raped, that person would have experienced an egregious violation of their physical body and their personal autonomy. That -- all on its own -- is something.
Concerning victim impact, the same CDC report details how:
Of men who have been raped, 50% reported concern for their safety and 51% reported feeling fearful
Of men who have been made to penetrate, 23% reported concern for their safety and 23% reported feeling fearful
Among men reporting any form of sexual victimization, there was a higher prevalence of: HIV/AIDS, frequent headaches, chronic pain, difficulty sleeping, and serious difficulty hearing along with higher reported prevalence of difficulty dressing or bathing, difficulty concentrating, remembering, or making decisions, and difficulty doing errands alone. All of this suggests that sexual victimization among men is correlated with higher disability rates among men.
If that's not enough, consider the fact that 41% of made to penetrate victims and 57% of male rape victims were first victimized when they were a child (younger than 17). I trust your (genuine? facetious?) lack of empathy doesn't extend to child victims?
To extend our sources list and highlight some specific findings:
A 2023 review of literature about male victims [2] describes mental and physical illness among male victims, along with interpersonal and sexual dysfunction.
An early study [3] found greater odds of psychological disturbance, sexual problems, self-harm, and substance misuse among male victims of childhood sexual abuse. This study is of particular relevance given the rate frequency of childhood victimization reported in the CDC paper.
A more recent study [4] found increased depression, anxiety, and related somatic symptoms among both male and female victims (the specific patterns were slightly different but similar overall).
Another review and meta-analysis [5] found that sexual abuse is associated with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, PTSD, sleep disorders, and suicide attempts. These associations were consistent across sex (when data was available for analysis).
An additional review and meta-analysis spanning 44 years of research [6] found no evidence of a difference in effect size by sex (i.e., sexual assault was associated with psychopathology to a similar degree for both women and men).
All together this indicates that while men are less likely to be sexually assaulted/abused, they are affected in similar ways/to similar degrees as women when it does occur.
---
Just to avoid some inevitable discourse: anon, if you are being genuine and/or to anyone who does believe this sentiment, know that you are in the minority.
While data on this is sparse, consider the results of two studies.
A 2006 study [7] analyzed men and women's responses (victim blame and reaction to perpetrator) for male sexual assault victims. They varied the scenario asked about by victim sexuality and perpetrator sex. They found that (1) women reported less victim blame than men for all the scenarios, (2) women did not differ in the amount they blamed the victim for each scenario, (3) men were more likely to blame gay male victims with a male perpetrator and straight male victims with a female perpetrator -- suggesting the "sexuality incongruence" drives their assignment of blame. In addition, men but not women reported more favorable views of the female perpetrator, regardless of sexual orientation of the victim. And again, women did not differ in the views on the perpetrator across scenarios. In absolute terms, degrees of victim blame and perpetrator support were low across all conditions.
A 2023 study [8] confirms and extends these results. This study examined empathy towards male victims of non-consensual "sexual touching". The study shows high levels of empathy overall, with no difference between scenarios involving male or female perpetrators. I have some issues with the language used for in this study. (They refer to "antipathy towards men and their domination" as "hostile sexism" and " traditional admiration for men’s role as protector" as "benevolent sexism", but it looks like this may have been the terms used by the tool they chose.) For ease of discussion I will use these terms. So, in addition, they found that hostile sexism predicted more empathy for male victims but only for female participants; hostile sexism predicted less empathy for male victims for male participants. Benevolent sexism predicted less empathy in general.
This all suggests that, in general, people are supportive of male victims. The people who deviate from this trend are men and/or report greater adherence to traditional gender roles. It's of note, however, that when analyzing the groups with these deviations overall support is still high. This indicates that these demographic/political differences result in relative differences, but in absolute terms people are overwhelmingly supportive of male victims.
---
TL;DR:
Yes, male victims "actually suffer". No, they are not "whining for nothing". Male and female victims both "have it so bad".
People generally already know this and indicate support for male victims. Feminists are particularly likely to report empathy for male victims, which means you (anon) are either a troll or an outlier.
