Grumpus Headcanon Designs + Animal Traits (Updated!)
Updated version of a previous post. Copy and pasted the ones that remained the same.
Filbo- Sea otter-ish. Soft fur and a rounded tail. Paws, his claws are usually well trimmed.
Lizbert- Features are something between that of a wolf’s and a walrus’s or seal’s. Tail was longer but she lost most of it in her misadventures. Now all that’s left is a stub. Fur can get matted or coarse from all her adventures but it is soft with the correct maintenance. Claws are usually worn and not in the best of shape from all her adventures. Fur is a bit speckled too.
Eggabell: Albino. Vaguely ursine. Big paws. Fluffy, but her face lacks fur. She has tiny freckles! Short bear or rabbit-like tail. Unlike bears, her claws can retract.
Wambus- Kangaroo and bear like features. Fur is a bit longer and tends to be not as soft from constant working and all that stuff. Has a mane and bit of a beard, as well as long, floppy ears. Claws are strong but chipped and dirty from work.
Triffany- Like a combination of a primate and an opossum. No paws, instead orange hands and feet like an ape. Her tail is also orange and is furless like an opossum’s. Nails instead of claws, they’re usually chipped or dirty from work.
Gramble: Pretty much a rabbit without ears and with claws (or at least longer nails). Instead of paws he just has those weird hairy hands and feet that they do. His fur and claws are both unkempt during Snaktooth but afterwards he is better at taking care of them.
Wiggle: Very sleek fur. Kind of.. ferret-ish? Or like a river otter. Short tail. Claws are well taken care of, and she trims them so they aren’t as sharp.
Beffica- Doglike features, some seal or bear like too. Tail is short but has longer fur than most of the others’. It’s the same color as her hair! Claws are well taken care of and she files them so they’re rather sharp.
Cromdo: Basically a chimera. He’s got boar hooves for feet. He either has hooves on his forelimbs too or rat/opossum/mole hands. Tail has a little tuft of fur on the end.
Snorpy: Paws for hands, bird-like talons for feet. Stripes on his limbs and neck, and down his back a bit. Tail like a lion, and his hair is a bit manelike and goes down his neck. Claws are decently taken care of but chipped bc... yknow, inventing and stuff.
Floofty: Talons for hands, paws for feet. Stripey or patchy fur pattern, and it is more prominent on their arms and legs. They also naturally have more of a mane but they trim it. Their tail is between a poodle’s and a raccoon’s. Claws are a bit overgrown.
Chandlo: Very seal/walrus like. Paws for hands but seal-flippery feet. Sleek fur and either a bear-like or no tail. Maybe a leopard-like pattern?
Shelda: Very sloth like. Pretty much a sloth with weird eyes and hands. Stubby unnoticeable tail. Her hands have sloth like claws but have a sort of froglike quality to them. Her fur is patchy and thin due to age. Eyes are... froggy?? Or like a goat or octopus. Might have quills, too.
Clumby: Wrinkly like a sphynx cat but does have a thin layer of rather soft fur. The way her skin folds makes her look like she’s wearing a turtleneck 24/7. Takes good care of her claws.
And a little bonus!! Breecil is very bat-like. Sharp fangs, may or may not have wings and bat ears, short tail, and has the same weird nose that most bats do.

The group of four girls were returning to the dorms when one of them spotted a solitary figure running into the woods.
Sam sighed, turning to the rest of her team. “We should probably go make sure they don’t die.”
Jayden shook her head. “They go here. They know the risks of the shadows, if they’re smart, they'll be out before the sun sets.”
Riley, the leader, frowned. “You’re right Jayden, but better safe than sorry. Besides we’ve been due for some team bonding and a walk in the woods sounds nice.”
“Right up until we get attacked by shadows.” Jayden added sarcastically, but followed nonetheless.
Lake followed silently, not commenting, but her hands drifted to her blades on her legs, checking that she would be prepared in case it came to a fight.
Jayden took the lead, being half-dragon she was the biggest and could take the most damage so she always insisted on going first despite not being the best fighter. She was good, no doubt, but not the best. Riley followed Jayden with Sam behind them and Lake wordlessly taking up the rear.
“Silence doesn’t equate to team bonding.” Jayden pointed out. “So, come on if we’re going to justify going into the woods this late, let’s bond.”
“You mentioned it, you come up with something.” Sam said, sidling up next to Jayden as the path widened.
“This was your idea.” Riley reminded her.
Riley sighed, debating whether or not to step between the two. She knew from experience they could bicker all day, although it was almost always good-natured. She glanced at Lake, but, as usual, she was more focused on the woods than her team. Riley didn’t miss the way her hand kept ghosting over her blades as if she was afraid they would suddenly disappear.
Deciding that she didn’t want to listen to them argue all evening Riley stepped in. “Both of you chill, it was my decision. As soon as we know that that person made it back out we can go back and play video games or something.”
“How do we even know we’re on the person’s trail?” Sam asked.
“I’m tracking them.” Jayden said, pointing to the ground.
Sam turned around quickly when she thought she heard an uncharacteristic snort from Lake, but when she looked at her face she saw nothing, just her normal blank expression. Lake met her questioning look with a blank one, and Sam turned back around, fixing her gaze on Jayden again.
          “How?”
“The boot prints.” Jayden said, as if it was obvious.
Lake rolled her eyes. Jayden has no clue what she was doing. She may be strong and a good fighter, but she had never been taught how to track.
Sam also rolled her eyes. “Jayden there’s hundreds of boot prints on this trail.”
“I have to agree with Sam again.” Riley chipped in.
“What’s this? Team up against Jayden day?” Jayden asked spreading her arms in exasperation.
“Lake’s not against you.” Riley pointed out.
Jayden just huffed. “Lake’s not against or for anyone. She’s just kinda there.”
“You know she does more than that.” Sam asserted.
“Yeah, yeah.” Jayden muttered. “She’s our best fighter and everything....”
Lake remained silent, as far as she was concerned the comments were deserved. She did remain aloof, although she did care about her team she had never figured out a way to take the leap of faith and start interacting beyond basic conversations, so she stuck for just being a silent presence. She glanced up at the sky and tensed when she saw that it was orange and red with the darkening sky. She tensed when she realized that if they didn’t turn back now, they would be stuck in the woods with the shadows, but the person they were following - and they were following them just not by Jayden’s tracking skills - still hadn’t turned around.
Riley realized this as well. “Get ready for a fight guys. If we don’t find this person soon, we’re going to have to fight.”
Sam and Jayden nodded, both their hands finding the handles of their weapons, an axe for Sam, and a broadsword for Jayden.
Riley’s fingers brushed over her own arrows in her quiver as she unslung her how, making sure it was ready.
“What is this person doing?” Riley hissed as she saw that they had left the trail.
Jayden stopped. “What do you mean?”
Riley pointed to where the branches of a bush were bent slightly. “They went off the trail.”
“I guess we should follow.” Jayden sighed.
“Ha, so you agree.” Sam pointed out victoriously, as they followed Riley.
         “Shut up.” Riley muttered.
Lake glanced nervously up at the sky again. She knew how to recognize how close nightfalls, and thus the shadows were, from the color of the sky from years of experience. And despite the nearly full moon it didn’t bode well. They were running out of time.
As they broke out into a small clearing, the sun finally fully set, marked by a roar in the woods.
“Not good.” Jayden muttered as she drew her sword, as Riley knocked an arrow and Sam drew her axe.
An Ursine shadow charged out of the trees at Same, who knocked the swipe aside. More shadows of varying types joined the Ursine. Lake drew her blades fighting off the shadows, while also keeping track of her teammates.
She sliced the head off of the Leonine and quickly cast a shield spell. The transparent white circle sliding into place between a Lupine claw and Sam. She sent another one to her right, saving Jayden by being smashed in by a Taurine. She cast one in front of herself to save herself from being stomped on by an Elephantine. She fought it off while also covering for her teammates as they were swarmed. They were holding their own pretty well, but most of their experience was one and one and they weren’t used to dealing with being swarmed like this.
Lake flicked her wrist and her blade curved into a hook versus the short blade. She has been fighting with. She jumped up, the blade sticking in the thick hide of a large shadow. She pulled herself up on its back and drove her other blade - still straight - into its neck.  It rested and growled trying to toss her off. She hung on. Stabbing her blade again even as she summoned a shield to protect Riley from a stray spray of quills.
The shadow she was disappeared back into actual shadows and she dropped on the ground. Over the clamor
of the battlefield, she heard a shriek of pain in the woods. She glanced at her team. They were tired, but had a better chance than the lone stranger. She turned and ran into the woods towards the cry of pain. She broke out into another small clearing. She immediately saw the large shadow and then the smaller figure on the ground. She tossed a shield out, blocking the figure from the shadow’s attack.
Lake was painfully aware of her low magic reserves as she threw her right blade towards the shadow after flicking it straight again. She had been using too many shield to help her teammates out and they had been fighting for a while.
The shadow fell and she pulled her blade back into her hand with magic as she crouched over the figure.
The girl, another first year, looked up, relieved. Her leg was injured from a bite. Lake brought her arm up as she noticed the shadow out of the corner of her eyes. She summoned a shield, aware that that was the last of her magic and likely would break. Sure enough, as the large paw connected it shattered, and the paw continued to claw into her arm.
Lake gasped in pain, but brought her other arm around, stabbing the blade into the beast’s chest. It disintegrated into shadow. Lake couldn’t keep a grip on her left blade with the state of her arm to she folded the blade in and shoved it into its sheath on her leg, before hoisting the stranger up, pulling her arm over her shoulder, and helping her hobble through the woods.
Lake growled when she heard the tell-tale signs of shadows approaching. They were going too slow.
She had to pull the stranger tight to her with her injured arm as she sliced a shadow that lunged from the right.
Luckily, the next thing that crashed through the woods was her team. Jayden immediately stowed her blade on her back and picked up the stranger.
Riley’s and Sam’s eyes both darted to Lakes’s torn and bleeding arm, but Lake brushed off their concern.
“We need to get out of here before more shadows come.”
Riley nodded and began leading the way. Jayden followed, barely slowed by the extra weight as Sam and Lake brought up the rear. A few more shadows attacked as they made their exit, but no one else got injured. Riley, Sam, and Lake managed to keep the shadows off them as they ran.
Finally they were free of the woods and inside of the powerful wards of the school that kept the Shadow’s out.
“Come on, let’s go to the infirmary.” Riley panted, even though Jayden was already headed that way, she hadn’t even slowed.
Professor Slawn saw them as they entered the main  building.
“What were you five doing out past dark?” She asked as she accompanied them to the infirmary.
“We saw her go into the woods alone and followed to make sure she was okay.” Riley explained, nodding towards the girl that Jayden was carrying.
The shadow’s venom was taking effect and the girl began shrinking into herself in Jayden’s arms. Whatever had caused her to run into the woods presumably wasn’t good and was only being amplified by the venom. . They reached the infirmary and a nurse quickly directed Jayden to set the girl down and Slawn’s questioning was paused.
The nurse saw Lake’s arm. “Sit there.” She ordered pointing to the bed next to the one where the girl was laid.
“Are any of you injured?” The nurse asked the three girls still standing when they shook their heads she waved them away. “Go with Professor Slawn then. I have patients to treat.”
They nodded and shuffled out of the room. The nurse began shuffling around grabbing supplies. She began by cutting away the girls pants around the wound and cleaning it. It was a sizable bite, but it was relatively clean and should heal easily. Lake busied herself while the nurse worked on the girl by peeling her ruined shirt off, the sleeve was torn and soaked in blood. She snagged a clean cloth from the pile next to the nurse, dunked it in the water and began wiping the wound clean, but fresh blood kept replacing what she wiped away. Her own wound was relatively clean cut, but it was deep. It would need stitches, so she settled for just pressing the cloth against her arm, keeping pressure while waiting for the nurse to finish with the girl.
The girl had been given some pain meds and was currently in a drugged sleep. The nurse worked efficiently and was soon bandaging the girl’s leg. The nurse turned to Lake.
“Sorry, bad night to be working solo. The other nurses went on the trip with the fourth years. You did good though with that.” She pointed to how Lake was holding the cloth tight to try and stop the bleeding.
Lake nodded, removing the cloth as the nurse reached for her arm.
The nurse grimaced slightly. “You’re going to need stitches. These gashes are pretty deep.”
Lake just nodded again. The nurse numbed the area before getting to work. Lake watched as the nurse stitched her back up and bandaged the wound.
“You should be good. Change that bandage every day, keeping it clean. I’m going to send you with bandages and antibiotics and anti inflammatories. Do you want pain meds?” The nurse asked as she began cleaning up and gathering the things for Lake.
Lake shook her head, waiting as the nurse prepares her prescriptions.
The nurse handed her the bag. “Ok, feel free to come get some if you need them. Avoid using that arm till it’s healed. Come back in for a recheck in two weeks when those prescriptions run out.”
Lake nodded. “Thank you.” She glanced at the name tag. “Ryan.”
The nurse, Ryan, nodded. “Of course try to avoid getting injured again though.”
Lake nodded and left the infirmary, heading back to her room, hoping that no one was awake, because she was still shirtless. She slipped into her room to see the rest of her team all sitting on one bed talking.
Sam was the first to see her. “Lake!”
        Jayden and Riley quickly turned.
“How’s your arm?” Riley asked, as Jayden asked. “Since when could you fight like that?”
“Uhhh...” Lake wasn’t sure where to begin and she was very conscious of her lack of shirt. Sam seemed to be too as she blushed and looked away.
“It’s fine.” She answered after a pause as she set her stuff on her desk and grabbed a new shirt quickly pulling it on.
She answered Jayden’s question next. “I could always fight like that. You’ve just only ever seen me spar.”
“No kidding.” Sam muttered. “How were you able to keep up so many shields. I saw you had four at some times. I can only manage two. I have to target them with my hands.”
“It takes practice, lots and lots of practice.” Lake admitted. “You have to be aware of everything happening in the fight.”
“How do you have so much practice?” Jayden asked. “You’re a First year like us.”
“It’s not my first year of fighting though. I’ve been fighting my whole life. Only way to stay alive if you don’t always have walls to protect you from the shadows.” Lake answered as she sat on her own bed.
Riley gave her a curious look, but didn’t push it. “Well, Slawn wants to talk to us more in the morning but said for us just to get some rest tonight.”
Lake nodded and removed her blades, flicking them out and cleaning them.
Jayden didn’t stop the questions even as Sam climbed into her bunk above Lake and Riley climbed above Jayden. “To be honest I didn’t think you cared enough about us to fight that hard. Why did you fight so hard?”
Lake looked up, a little surprised. “Because you’re my team.” She answered plainly.
“But you don’t like us?” Jayden pressed. Riley was ready to cut in if Jayden pushed it any farther.
“Just because I don’t talk doesn’t mean I don’t like you.” Lake said. “I just don’t talk. If I didn’t like you I wouldn’t do things with you.”
          “Ohhh...” Jayden muttered. “Sorry.”
          Lake shrugged. “It’s fine.”
She finished cleaning her blades and set them on her desk before tossing her pants in the laundry and slipping on some sweatpants to sleep in.
“Why don’t you talk much?” Jayden asked, and Riley feared that she was treading dangerously close to a line.
Lake shrugged. “I’m not good at it.”
“Huh.” Jayden muttered. “Well... good night I guess.”
“Night.” Lake responded as she climbed into her own bed, but she didn’t fall asleep right away like Jayden did. While Jayden quickly fell into a peaceful sleep, Lake was troubled by her thoughts. She knew the shadow poison was partially to blame, but really that was her fault.
She should’ve been better. Dodged instead of putting up a too-weak shield. I suppose then it would’ve hit the girl. She should’ve rationed her magic better. Had more faith in her team. Maybe if she actually talked instead of being a freak she would’ve and then this wouldn’t have happened.
Lake sighed as she rolled over again. God she was useless. Why did she even come to this school? Some stupid foolhardy attempt at getting an actual job to help her family out, and yet here she already screwing things up in year one, in month four. She’d be lucky if they let her stay. She was on scholarship. And she had been stupid enough to break the rules. If only she actually talked she could’ve spoken up, argued not to go in the woods. But then the girl would’ve been hurt. Ugh. She should’ve found her faster. Spoken up and tracked her instead of letting Riley do it. She should’ve been more active. She should’ve done more instead of being so passive.
She heard a slight thud as someone jumped lightly down onto the ground, Sam.
“It’s the poison isn’t it?” She asked in a voice barely audible.
“What?” Lake asked back in the same low voice.
“All the negative emotions rolling off you. I can feel them because of a family trait. We’re extra sensitive.” Sam explained.
“It’s not that much worse than normal.” Lake said. “I’ll be fine. You never said anything before.”
“I was too afraid to do anything before. I didn’t want to cross a line.” Sam admitted.
Lake sighed. “I’ll be fine. I’ll get to sleep eventually.”
“But I would prefer that to be sooner rather than later, and I have trouble sleeping with all the negative vibes your giving off.” Sam argued, careful to keep her voice low. “You know the cure for shadow poison. Contact comfort, so scoot over.”
Lake sighed. She wasn’t sure how much of Sam’s argument was an excuse to help her and how much was actually just a want to get to sleep. She decided it didn’t matter. She didn’t want to fight it, so she scooted over, letting Sam climb into her bed. Sam immediately slid under the blankets and wrapped her arm around Lake’s waist.
“See, better already.” Sam muttered as she got comfortable.
Lake remained silent, but she relaxed in Sam’s hold, unable to deny the immediate relief it brought. She’d done this before for the same reasons before coming to this school. She found it comforting and not just because it lessened the effects of the poison that amplified her negative emotions. It also reminded her of home.

“The things you said were hurtful, but I understand why you would be upset, and- *quill scratching violently* DISCARD”
A pic for Inktober day sixteen (two hours late, etc.), using this DnD-themed prompt list. Today’s theme is Friendship, and while I originally was gonna go with Sassafras as the natural choice, firstly, uh, I didn’t want to draw that many Pokemon tonight, and, secondly, I had a Sad Thought while coming home. @whats-ursine and I discussed at one point that if my kenku alchemist (raised and trained by and beholden to goblins) and her elf gunsmith (who lost her lab, her research, and the love of her life to goblins) became friends, at some point pasts would come out and friction would arise....
Anyway, pictured: TFW you have everything you can think of for the care package for the friend who might? not unreasonably? hate you now? except the right words for the accompanying letter.

TIFI Chapter 1.4 Y U No Come Home Kids
In this chapter there are birthdays and chaos. As expected. I messed around with my mods and changed some settings, I got the CC I lost back so no more horrifying creations, I downloaded a mod to stop bed time stories because Abraham kept getting three kids asking for them in this chapter, and I downloaded a mod to stop those boots from babies so next generations the baby stage will be shown.
Cool Theme Remix I Was Listening to While Making This Chapter
Enjoy.
Tumblr media
So I added the Lovers story progression add on. Pauline hasn’t done shit yet. The irony is that Hank became the town Gigolo and he is currently at celebrity level 2 and all the old ladies love him. I’m reminded of Worick from Gangsta, since he’s a gigolo.
Tumblr media
Good anime. Go watch it. I would kill for another season.
Tumblr media
This actually was last chapter, I just forgot about it. The papergirl is not happy with me, nor the Isbi family.
Tumblr media
I started this chapter with this. It’s a summoning ring where I summon the will to not sacrifice someone.
Tumblr media
There are way too many toddlers in this household now. Like, Issy is the main caretaker and it has taken careful balancing to not get her to pass out. Also, due to glitchiness I’ve had her dodging work like a pro. Two sick days and a personal day.
Tumblr media
You disgust me Issy.
Issy: “I’m hungry so IDGAF.”
Tumblr media
And the first fail comes when the triplets age up. Reeses pissed on the floor.
KitKat and Pocky: “REESES DID IT.”
Tumblr media
So this is Reeses, he gained the Angler trait. Boooring. Also I’ve taken looks at all the kids as adults and he isn’t very special looking.
Reeses: D:
Tumblr media
Heres a more normal view of him even though that other screenshot is hysterical.
Tumblr media
This is Pocky, as she has green eyes. She got the Adventurous trait.
I gave her freckles. She’s adorable.
Tumblr media
And Kitkat with the Heavy Sleeper trait. I should give her freckles to match Pocky. She’s adorable like her sister.
Tumblr media
So we got a new paperboy to yell at us. How exciting.
Tumblr media
Abraham is low on social needs so he bothers his daughter who just wants to eat.
Tumblr media
Pocky looks like she’s about to beat down her brother for food.
Pocky: “I get the fridge first, puny brother.”
Reeses: “This is because the first thing I did as a child was pee myself, isn’t it?”
Go catch a fish, peeboy.
Tumblr media
I feel like they’re judging Reeses. Also Pocky beat him to the fridge.
KitKat: “Reeses is a wuss.”
Abraham: “Or just slow.”
Reeses: D:
Tumblr media
This is a promising start. They’re all exhausted.
Tumblr media
I am very upset right now. I remember taking a screenshot of them on the bus for their first day of school.
Anyway this is Ginny Ursine. She’s got a weird lip thing going on.
Tumblr media
So as I was watching what was going on at home I realized, ‘Where’s Pocky and KitKat?” So I look and Pocky was behind the school doing homework.
Tumblr media
And somehow KitKat got to the fall festival and was doing her homework in a corner.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, back at home, Abraham is ignoring his lonely toddler to fulfill his own loneliness by talking to one of his children’s friend.
Abraham: “I enjoy writing with quills pens and ink bottles.”
Ginny: “Sir your daughter is screaming.”
Tumblr media
That’s not the chair, Issy. For some reason hey all do this when eating the chili she made.
Tumblr media
Around curfew Kitkat was on her way back.
Tumblr media
Pocky also started to come home. No cops tonight! Yesh!
Tumblr media
Here they are, safe and sound and looking adorable together.
Tumblr media
Abraham is still paying more attention to Ginny than his own kids.
Tumblr media
The sink broke again. Apparently Pocky is so upset she can’t move where she wants to go.
Abraham: “Watcher this sink AGAIN?”
Pocky: “I AM SO ANGRY I CAN’T EVEN.”
Tumblr media
Abraham is tired and yet the curse of the bedtime stories is after him.
Tumblr media
Aw so precious. Abraham is reading BABY INCOMING PREPARING WITH VIGILANCE to his daughter for a bedtime story!
Tumblr media
KitKat, why are you napping as opposed to sleeping? And Pocky, why did you get up after such a nice bedtime story? You better not ask for another one.
Tumblr media
Sometimes Reeses is cute. Just not when hes frowning, or pissing on my points.
Tumblr media
This is what Abraham sleeping in and not going to work looks like. He actually did make it to work because one of the toddlers woke him up by screaming. But he was still late.
Tumblr media
This is an incredibly awkward waiting spot for the bus and carpool. I feel like they’re about to have a duel or showdown or something.
Tumblr media
I wanted a gif of when the camera zooms into The Bride’s face and the Kill Bill siren sounds but this works too.
Tumblr media
Issy, you don’t look so good.
Issy: “My mood will skyrocket once I leave this disgusting room, Voice.”
CLEAN MAYBE? FIX THE SINK? THEN YOU WON’T HAVE TO LEAVE.
Tumblr media
They had a field trip. That kid there is Emma and Leighton’s son, I think.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Reeses is a butt. They had another fieldtrip to the police station where he locked an officer in a cell. Will he randomize an evil trait? Or rebellious? Or maybe a loser trait, since he’s kind of a loser.
Side note: I was expecting more pranks. Usually in my games the kids go wild if I’m not making sure they don’t prank the showers.
Tumblr media
I lied last chapter, Mochi is the witch not Skittles.
Mochi: “Horsey come back!” :D
I gave up skilling these two. I messed with the toddler ages and gave them two more days and so their ages got messed up.
Tumblr media
The puddles became one at one point. This house is flooding. Did I mention they’re extremely poor? Neither parent makes much money. If you see I had to sell the chess table and high chair for beds and cribs.
Tumblr media
I regret my decision. This was the imaginary friends I was putting off. For the triplets and the twins.
Tumblr media
Everyone is in pain. Everyone is tired.
Tumblr media
See that imaginary friend? That’s Skittle’s. He’s gone now. I deleted him. I deleted them all by the end of this chapter.
Tumblr media
That red one is next. I would like to point out I have no idea what order these particular screenshots go in because they’re all shot from the same angle.
Tumblr media
I realized KitKat was missing again. I found her at the salon. How did you get there KitKat?
KitKat: *Snores*
Tumblr media
She made it home that night, albeit very tired. Good for her, no cops yet again.
KitKat: “I might sneeze. Is someone talking about me?”
Tumblr media
I realized I was missing a toddler and found her outside, in her outerwear that I didn’t bother changing because I don’t bring toddlers outside, in the rain. Good job Abraham.
Tumblr media
Inside, KitKat is doing some very impressive squats. I’m not sure how this happened. Maybe the chili again?
Tumblr media
In the morning, the kids make a studying triangle with Pocky the grump in a separate room.
Tumblr media
Why is there always someone who doesn’t make it home? Today it’s Pocky, on the school steps.
Tumblr media
I’ve taken several screenshots of Reeses throughout the chapter trying to find a good one for his birthday announcement. He’s not very photogenic.
Tumblr media
Pocky’s face though.
Pocky: “I’m so tired and this is all your fault, Reeses!”
Reeses: “I’m going to be free of this someday.” :))))))
Tumblr media
KitKat skipped school and Issy stopped cooking to scold her. KitKat actually did do several chores around the house to get on Issy’s good side. And they had breakfast together so I think all harsh feelings were quickly forgotten.
Tumblr media
And I end this with the thankful baby belly announcement that I missed for the twins. This will hopefully be a single baby girl to fulfill Issy’s wishes for a baby and a girl. You have four girls already why do you want another.
Fun fact: I was very concerned because her nauseous moodlet kept resetting when it reached 20 minutes remaining. I eventually deleted it and then she got her belly announcement.

Playtesting the 5e Occultist
My dear friend @dndhomebrewandart has made a lot of classes and archetypes for 5e. A lot. So naturally, we have to try to break them! I had the privilege of playing an occultist, a class inspired by the Dresden Files. Occultists use implements attuned to specific schools of magic in order to cast spells and use abilities.
For this particular playtest, I was Juliana, a high class courtesan whose implements were divination, illusion, and enchantment. My favorite ability that she had is one called masquerade: she can touch a person and store their identity to disguise herself later. A very particular service, for a courtesan.
In this session, she was out and about in one of the seedier parts of the city with two guards. She was looking for the subject of a client’s affection for her job when there was a horrible quake and she fell into the rent that opened in the street.
She woke in darkness with some dead folks and some alive folks: a vigilante hero known as the Quill, a magical goods proprietor known as Varret Fancyboy, and an ursine barbarian (side note: he was an opportunist barbarian which is now my favorite).
We ventured through some tunnels, found some awful artwork of an evil sacrificial god, fought a creature in the tunnel, found a ritual site, killed the ghoul things there, and came out in a nobleman’s basement. Turns out there’s a cult brewing among the nobility in Elia in worship of some god named Nexremis. Well, through her object reading ability, Juliana saw the master of the house and used disguise self to become him while the others hid. A gorgeous woman came to the door and kissed disguised Juli (who used it as an opportunity to steal the woman’s appearance) and we learned there was some ritual going on in the house.
More shenanigans ensued, and in the end the barbarian destroyed a study and used practically every piece of furniture in it to kill the master of the house. We managed to get out just fine, and even saved an old dude from the Council.
Quill escorted Juliana home and stole a kiss before she disappeared - which, you guessed it, Juli used to steal her identity and successfully figure out the Quill’s secret identity that way.
All in all, good fun! The occultist was very solid.

Darkspear Wax Seal Letter
Dear Makwa,
I hope this letter gets to you swiftly, I been trying to find a way to get to you but every attempt has been thwarted. I know the Arch Druids are doing what they think is best for you and me but I just don’t feel right with it. I’m sure you feel the same. I did ask them if sending a letter would be alright, if they denied me this I had a back up plan on getting letters to you one way or another. I really wasn’t going to take no for a answer but my question of writing letters the druids agreed with. I’m not sure if you are able to read and write but hopefully someone will aid you should you need it.To let you know I’m alright and I been trying my best to keep myself busy with tasks. To keep to my training as I’m sure you would want me to, to keep going and press on. But it’s a struggle, because I don’t know how you are. I don’t know how your progress is if you are doing well or not. If your having good days or bad days, how you are being treated? I trust in the Arch Druids to treat you with the utmost care so that their efforts to help you can help return you back to the Grove. To return you to me or they at least come up to me saying that I can visit you.
The night that the Druids showed up at the cave we were hiding out in keeps playing in my mind. I knew I was helping you, at least I feel like the days we were able to go hunt, to just have our own adventures like we done before. Just doing the normal was helping to keep you happy so you can shift out of bear form some day once you were ready. Maybe if I was paying attention better I’d of spotted we were being watched. The Arch Druids said they been watching us from the start and since they seen no improvement that they had to act. Because they feared you would become savage kin and that I do not understand what I’m doing. That I’m not helping. I really feel like I was and they have interfered with it all. But things have changed and I’m doing all I can to be patient.
I been praying to the loa to watch and protect you, to guide you, to let you know that in some way I’m still there. But the Loa have showed me a vision to go to my family, so I did. I stayed with them through out winterveil which has helped and I was hoping maybe you’ll be back in time to celebrate your first winterveil and I’m not upset that you weren’t able. They’re many more things that I can show you when it comes to Horde Celebrations and I know Winterveil will return. But I’ll keep hoping that you’ll be back soon.
Lately though….with all the friends I have met. Most are new faces others are faces that I haven’t seen in a while. I figured with the allies I made, if I keep making friends. When you return, you can meet all these people that I have gotten to know. Things can go right back to how they were, you can look forward to meeting Vin, Xert, Faer, Ama, theirs also Ishi of course. Drizz is usually always around and still gives out bacon or other sorts of food. They’re so many more to name that I just can’t remember right now but hopefully they are still around. The friends you and I know, I don’t know what happen to them. Only Ishi is still around and that’s about it.
Anyway, there is so much I want to write and I’m not sure how to begin. To tell you so many things that may help brighten your day. To tell you just not my good days but not so good days as well and to hear of yours, to know that your alright. For now the loa want me with my family, being among the friends I’ve made is not helping my moods. That’s another letter to write what has been going on but where I am, I am safe, any letters you write to me will be sent right to where I’m at. In the mean time I’m gonna help Kama and her mate with fixing a few things around their hut. Maybe it will teach me a few things so I can fix up my parents hut, maybe that’s something you and I can work on when your back.
I use to bump heads with my sisters mate but so far we been getting along, perhaps he’s not such a lug head after all. My Uncle is also coming to visit to help, my younger sisters are well and ecstatic that I’m staying around much longer than a few days. Know that I’m thinking of you always, I can’t wait to get your letter and I miss you. May the Loa guide and protect you…
Much Love,
Jai’kanu (Spots)
P.S. Remember,
You can count on me, like one, two, three.
I’ll be there.
And I know when I need it.
I can count on you, like four, three, two…
You’ll be there..
*Attached to the letter is a written song for Makwa.*
--------------------------------------------------------
Click, click, went wee dainty little cloven hooves that shuffled from side to side on the stone flooring. The little dryad Roe was as patient as she could be standing in one place. With quill in hand and parchments besides the one in her hand strewn all around her like freshly fallen leaves, she had been writing and re-writting down all that druid stuck in bear form had to say, or re-say. It was difficult work, but she greatly enjoyed doing it for the kindly troll that was stuck in a most awfully undignified circumstance.
“ Okay, okay... write dis, ‘ey mon, it be nice ‘earing from ya. “ He waved his ursine toe beans about to strike that. “ No, that’s not any good... “ He would have wrote the letter back himself, but it really sucked not having opposable thumbs. At least he could talk now, he just didn’t know what to say to make it sound all lettery like.
“ How about, Dear Jai’kanu? “ Roe suggested sweetly, Nacelia had been very kindly giving her this task. The druid night elf was the one that was going to mail this letter as soon as they were done.
“ Ayup... That sounds better den that otherr thing. Wait! Strike that. “ He grinned bearishly. “ Write, Dear Spots... That way he’ll know it’s from me. “ He frumped onto his side with a groan. Letters were hard, especially letters that someone really wanted to write, but didn’t have the words, or what was wanted to be said, said, without sounding like a complete idiot.
“What’s wrong? “ She could tell by the way he flopped to the ground and made such a sad sound, there just had to be something wrong.
“ I’ve nevar ‘ad to write a letter to anyone before, I just find them and talk to them if I need to... I don’t want to sound too, I don’t know, desperate? I don’t want him to worry, eh? “ Makwa drug a forepaw down his muzzle.
“ Oh you poor thing! “ She almost squeaked out, the big lug of a bear was causing her heart to just melt. “ Just say what you feel and everything will be alright. He’ll understand. “
He took a deep breath, and had upright on his haunches. “ Alrigh’ ‘ere goes...”
This is what Roe wrote down in fluid happy script that had hearts dotting the eyes, and very loopy letter. She gave the letter Nacelia to send to Jai’kanu spruced up with a wonderful floral scent to the parchment.
Dear Spots, Mon,
I’ve been working my tail off to get betterr. Good t’ing is, I’m talking, everyone is understanding me and I t’ink they got it down to what was causing da issue, it’s just crackin’ da code that ‘as them all stumped as to why I can’t shift back. I have good days and not so good day, in a not so funny way it’s balanced out. None of it be yer fault at all, so don’t worry none. Ya just do as ya do. Da Arch druids all understand why ya did as ya did so strike that... No not ya Roe. I mean strike his worries, I don’t want him worried about things. I just want to let him know that everything will be okay, all is working it’s way for the better. That’s all.... I t’ink dey’ll let ya come visit soon, I don’t know when but I feel a lot better now, I feel like I need a visit. Being stuck like this is a bummer. Not a butt Roe, a bummer means a downer, no not that, it means that it feels bad, or lonely or something. Ayup, that’s what I mean.
I hope you had a good holiday even though I wasn’t dere, I look forward to da next one. I’ve been praying a lot too. Sounds like you’ve been busy on the friend front, I hope I get to meet them all too. Ishi?! How’s that girlie doing?! She still swinging from that vine? Did she balance out any?
Mon, just you writing brightens my day, ya don’t ‘ave to go on and on, just seeing yer words be someting I look forward to. So don’t ya stop writing me! That be a order. Ya can strike that order part Roe, that sounds stupid. Ayup, just when ya got da time tell about how it goes with yer learning and family, I look forward to it. Just give that mate of yer sister’s wide birth, don’t say nothin’ it ain’t yer problems, it’s is own. If that don’t work, well... I’ll think of something.... Not Birth Roe, beeerth, burrrrr, like giving space, lots of it. Stop laughing... loa... Just write this down...
I miss ya too, yer on my mind all da time.
Spirits watch over ya.
Makwa....
There was that so hard? Did ya snort up some coffee or something--- Ya don’t have to write any more Roooooe....
