Hello Jorvik!

I'm Lili Queendragon! You might also already know me as @juliaqueendragon

I came to Jorvik to work as a horse trainer and riding instructor at Jorvik Riding Camp originally only for one summer in hopes of getting into the Jorvik Equine Institute. I didn't get in the first semester and also not the ones after but I fell in love with South Western Jorvik so I stayed.

On this blog, I'll post some of my photography or things I do around Jorvik. Hope you'll have fun reading!

:May 28 2019: Fourth dragon in the color dragon series. For each one I wanted to try something different, For the white one I decided to give feathery wings a shot, kinda like the dragons in Khans of Tarkir, I also wanted it to feel kinda regal, so I gave her a vanguard of faeries and some ornamentation as well as including a throne and castle in the background.

Overall this is one of those pieces that didn't really come together easily, it was a lot of fighting with different parts and going over details and then going over details again until it looked good enough. I'm not dissatisfied with it, but I'm also not incredibly thrilled with it either.

Regina's not sure she likes Camelot.

There's still magic, but it's not ambient like it is in the Enchanted Forest. It's something secret, taboo despite its lifted ban.

She supposes she should like it. The too-bright goodness of the Enchanted Forest always made her feel like she was squinting, never let Regina feel fully comfortable unless she was sequestered in her vault, surrounded by darkness.

So Regina should be at home here, where the nights are pitch black and absolutely nothing shines. And yet... she can't connect with it.

She has her magic but it's no longer effortless. Even the simplest spell saps her strength, and leaves the taste of earth in her mouth.

There some things she likes.

The food is richer. Less colorful, but hearty. And savory, where the Enchanted Forest always had the edge of sweetness. The wine is dry on her tongue, and leaves her senses tingling in a way her own royal stores never did.

And there's Morgana.

Regina sees glimmers of Snow in her, sometimes. In the rare moments Regina offers genuine admiration, the hardness falls away to reveal the eyes of a girl, lonely and lost. It never lingers more than an instant, before those same eyes turn flinty with self-satisfied smirk.

Still, Regina thinks, it would be all too easy.

Too easy to tease more of those moments out of the priestess, too easy to crook her finger and watch that lonely girl curl herself around it... To warp her authority to Regina's own will.

She doesn't.

Regina doesn't dare.

Morgana is not Snow. She is steel and stone, with a rage that simmers just under the surface. Were they in the Enchanted Forest, that rage would make her vulnerable in her volatility. Here in Camelot, it is a demon in the shadows, the knife in the dark, tempered and honed and always in control.

And besides, Morgana is what Regina likes most.

She likes the cunning grin and utter disregard for the sanctity of the throne she fought and killed for. She revels in the way the guards cower in the Queen's presence, how the villagers quiver with fear. Here when they whisper, they don't pray for a young hunter girl to usurp the throne.

Here, they issue quiet warnings and fearful pleas of mercy.

Regina soon learns why, and in so doing learns that in Camelot, human hearts are not glittering jewels to be stolen and kept hidden.

In Camelot, hearts are soft and bloody-- parting with it means death.

Morgana harvests them anyway.

Not for magic. Not for spells.

When a noble invokes a forbidden name, Morgana takes his heart for nothing but a swift and final retribution.

She reaches not through his chest, but through his ribs, with a single thrust of a knife and her bare hand. Regina stares at quivering lump of muscle in the Queen's palm as the dead lord slumps to the floor, and knows with harrowing certainty that Morgana is a line she will never dare cross.

But she will come tantalyzingly close, when only a candle holds the utter darkness of Camelot at bay, and Regina meets Morgana with a ready and wanting mouth.

When she makes Morgana scream, and then come asking back for more.

Maybe, Regina will learn to like Camelot after all.
