Mini-oneshots: Forever | Promise
Natasha and you had been raised alongside each other since birth.
As the royal heir you were born the kingdoms Princess, and would one day step up after your parents stepped down from their positions as King and Queen.
Meanwhile, once Natasha became of age her father began her training as she was meant to become the young Princesses Royal Knight.
Both of your families had always been close friends. Natasha’s father was your father’s best solider, so you and the redhead had practically grown up together.
The bond between your two families meant that you and the young knight spent a lot of time together. So much time that as you grew up, you and Natasha inevitably fell for each other and only continued to as you got older.
Your parents knew you two had something special from the gecko, but no one knew if it was just puppy love, or if it’d turn out to be the love story you’d only ever hear about in books.
That thought always took up a space in your mind, just like it was right now.
How you got so lucky to be the one in a billion to actually live one of those love stories.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
“Nat! Natty, wait for me!” you call out to the slightly older girl.
Natasha always teased you for being younger than her even if it was only by a few months. She stopped in her tracks and turned around, waiting a moment for you to catch up to her as your feet quickly patted against the pavement outside.
“Sorry, princess, she gazed at you once you reached her. “I’m just really excited to see where our parents are taking us.”
Your cheeks flushed a pink tint at the pet name and your heart fluttered. People were supposed to formally address you as Princess since that’s who you were, but whenever Natasha called you that you both knew it had a different meaning.
Natasha always had such a soft spot for you. Some might call it puppy love, but both of your parents believed it was the cutest thing to ever exist.
As she had a couple inches over you, you had to latch onto her arm and lean up on your tippy-toes to peck her cheek. This time it was Natasha’s turn to blush.
“Well, now we can go down there together.” you said and gave her a sweet smile that made her heart double in beats per minute.
Both of your mothers playfully shook their heads to themselves as they made their way over to you, watching the interaction.
“She’s a smooth little girl.” Melina commented with a chuckle.
Your mother chuckled, “Yeah, I don’t know where she got that from because it definitely was not her father.”
You two on the other hand were completely oblivious of their presence as you became immersed in chasing each other around the castle garden, your loud giggles rumbling through air.
“Don’t let him hear you say that.” Melina laughed along with your mother.
The two women watched as Natasha caught up to you and pulled you into her arms. “They’re too cute.” your mother cooed and Melina nodded her head, smiling widely.
At some point Natasha had picked a yellow flower from the grass and place it in your hair with sophistication, admiring how it just accentuated your already beautiful features.
She brought you into a tight hug and dramatically pleaded, “Marry me, Y/n! Marry me so nothing will ever come between us and we can be together forever and ever!”
“Yes! A trillion times yes, Natasha! I will marry you even if it’s the last thing I do!” You theatrically declared, mimicking a woman in a television show.
Natasha pulled back and leaned in with her lips exaggeratedly puckered out way too far and cheeks puffed out so much they could’ve popped, but before she could reach yours she was lifted up into her father’s arms.
“Alright, you little player. You’re not quite ready for that one just yet.” Alexei teased the young redhead.
Natasha scoffed. “I am not a player! Y/n is my fiancé and I am going to make her my wife! I put a flower on it and everything!” she argued with a pout.
That was when your own father scooped you up into his arms and spun you around. “Aren’t you just the enchantress? You’ve got little Natasha all lovestruck and heart eyed. Poor girl.”
You giggled before you heard Natasha call out in annoyance. “I am not little!”
Amused looks spread across your mothers’ faces at the precious scene. At the time, no one knew that your’ and Natasha’s pretend was destined to become a reality.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
(Time jump to around 11 years old)
“Nat, are you sure you know we’re you’re going?” you asked, hesitation evident in your voice as she guided you by your hand through the trees.
This would be the third time you asked her this question, so she playfully rolled her eyes at your uncertainty.
“Yes, Y/n, I come here all the time after training. Stop worrying your pretty little head so much, you’ll give yourself a headache.” Natasha assured.
Normally her sweet talk would have you swooning, but this time you were too distracted by the uneasiness you felt about where you were. Natasha had dragged you out to the forest behind the kingdom, saying she had something special that she wanted you to see.
You two had snuck away when your parents were busy, so no one even knew where you were, but you of course agreed because you trust the redhead with everything you have.
“Okay, we’re here.” Natasha’s voice brought you out of your thoughts.
You looked around in confusion, seeing nothing besides an abnormally large tree.
“What is it that you wanted to show me?” you finally spoke.
The young knight chuckled at your slightly furrowed eyebrows, “Follow me.” was all she said before beginning to climb up the tall tree.
“What— Natasha what’re you doing?”
“Come on, this is the only way you’ll see it.” she attempted to encourage you.
You were still very unsure about it so you just watched from the ground as she made her way up the tree. She eventually stopped and made herself comfortable on one of the limbs. “I don’t think this is a good idea.” you projected your voice up to her.
“Come on, Y/n, trust me! The view is beautiful from up here. It’s like you can the whole world!” Natasha called down to you.
You contemplated once more before finally giving in. You followed the path you had watched the redhead take and began climbing the tree. However, you had only made it about halfway when a branch you had grabbed onto began to snap.
Before you could even yell for Natasha like you had originally intended, the branch snapped completely and you yelped instead as you fell.
Your mind had barely registered the young knight calling out your name when you hit the ground. The air was knocked out of your lungs, but you noticed the sharp pain that shot up your arm the most.
“Y/n!” Natasha panicked, and when she heard you cry out tears she quickly made her way down to you.
The words to ask you what was hurting were on the tip of her tongue, but that question was answered when she saw you holding your arm and a few scratches on the side of your face.
Natasha didn’t know what to do.
You were sobbing and clearly in a lot of pain, so she lifted you into her arms bridal style and ran as fast as her legs would take her back to the kingdom without causing you any further discomfort.
Ignoring all the looks from passing townspeople, she bolted up the castle stairs and rushed inside.
“Mom! Mom, dad, where are you! Mom!” Natasha frantically searched every room for either of your parents.
They must’ve heard her shouting because they exited the meeting room and saw the young knight running straight towards them with you crying in her arms.
“Natasha, what happened?” Melina asked her daughter with furrowed eyebrows.
“I wanted to show Y/n this really nice view, but we had to climb a tree in order to see it. She didn’t even want to do it in the first place but I convinced her to, and she fell and I think she hurt her arm.” Natasha explained to the four adults as your father gently took you into his arms.
She began to tear up and followed them to the infirmary, “I— I just wanted to show her something I thought she’d like. I didn’t mean for this to happen, I didn’t mean for her to get hurt.”
Your mother placed a comforting hand on the young girls shoulder to get her attention, “It’s okay, Natasha. We know you’d never put her in harms way on purpose, but you did good bringing her back because now we can help her.”
Natasha wiped away the tears in her eyes, although it was no use because more began to fall anyway, “It’s all my fault, I’m the one who took her out there to begin with. She’d be okay if it weren’t for me.”
“Now, now, Natasha. Stop being so hard on yourself. I’m sure Y/n won’t blame you once she’s all patched up.” Your mother reassured, and she was right.
A couple hours later your parents informed the young redhead and her parents of your condition. The force of the impact when you hit the ground had broken your arm, and you had a few light scratches on your cheek that should quickly fade.
The doctor gave your parents some medication to help with any pain you had, and allowed them to take you back to your own bedroom. When Natasha was asked if she would like to see you she of course said yes, but couldn’t ignore the nerves she felt.
Would you be upset with her?
Your mothers led Natasha to your bedroom and opened the door for her to enter, but she hesitated. She felt as though her feet were glued to the floor.
“Are you sure?” the knight in training asked. “I don’t think she’d want to see me.”
Your mother crouched down to Natasha’s height to look at her. “Can I let you in on a little secret?” she said and Natasha nodded. “Between you and me I think you’re the first person she’d wanna see.”
The young girl sat with those words for a moment longer and contemplated before finally stepping into you room. When she reached your beside she realized that you were sound asleep.
Natasha’s eyes scanned the peaceful expression on your face. Your eyelashes just barely brushed against your cheeks, and your slow breathing was heard through the quietness of the room.
Her gaze traveled down to the white cast around your arm and a sense of guilt washed over her, but she tried to disregard that feeling and just focus on you.
She noticed a lock of hair that had started to fall in front of your face, so Natasha tucked it behind your ear. However, she regretted that decision when your eyes fluttered open and met hers.
Your lips pulled up into a small smile. “Hi, Natty.”
“Hey,” she practically whispered.
You frowned at her vague and quiet response. “What’s wrong?” you wondered.
Natasha sighed and let her eyes travel back to your injured arm. “I’m sorry. I should’ve listened when you said you didn’t wanna go up, and now you’re hurt because of me.”
“Hey,” you sat up and placed a hand over the young knights hand. Her heart skipped a beat at the contact and she met your gaze again. “It was an accident, Nat. I don’t blame you for this, and I’m okay now.”
“I know. I just hated seeing you in so much pain knowing I talked you into doing it.”
You looked at her with soft eyes that instantly calmed her racing mind. “Well you did carry me all the way back, so I guess that makes up for it. All of those extra hours you put into your training finally paid off.” you both giggled.
Maybe this whole situation wasn’t as bad as Natasha convinced herself it was.
“You wanna sign my cast? It looks kind of boring right now.” you asked.
Natasha smiled and nodded her head, looking around the room for something to write with. She spotted a red marker on your large dresser and grabbed it before returning to your side.
She gently took your arm into her hand and signed her name, attempting to draw a few hearts around it, but they just ended up uneven and lopsided.
Nevertheless, they were special.

(Time jump to 16 Years Old)
“Mom!” Natasha called out as she rushed down the stairs, nearly tripping on the last step whilst she tucked her maroon button-up shirt into her black slacks. “Does this look okay? Should I try on a different one?”
Melina examined the outfit her daughter was wearing before smiling at her, “You look wonderful, sweetheart. Stop worrying so much, you’ll make yourself sick.”
“Are you wearing my pants?” Yelena said as he walked into the room alongside Alexei.
Natasha glared at her sister while slipping on the jacket and straightening out the collar of her shirt with the help of Melina.
“Your mother is right, honey. I’m sure Y/n will love it.” Alexei chimed in.
Today was your sixteenth birthday, and your parents thought it would be the perfect opportunity to throw a ball to celebrate this milestone. Everyone in the kingdom received an invitation in the mail, but the Romanoffs were obviously at the top of the guest list.
Natasha was no doubt nervous. She so badly wanted to make an impression on you, but would never admit it to avoid her family’s very unfunny jokes.
Unfortunately for her, she didn’t have to disclose that information in order for her parents and sister to know that she and the young princess always had a thing for each other, even as little kids.
“Oh, so that’s why you stole my pants.” Yelena smirked. “So you could impress your little girlfriend.” she spoke in a teasing tone.
The young knight rolled her eyes, “She is not my girlfriend.”
“Well I suggest you try to change that before someone else decides to sweep her off her feet.”
Before Natasha could retaliate Melina saved her the trouble, “Alright you two, let’s get going before we’re late.” She ushered her family out the front door and gave Natasha a reassuring squeeze to her shoulder.
~
People were still making their way inside when they arrived. Your parents stood at the entrance welcoming people into the castle, and their eyes lit up when they saw their most dearest friends walking up the steps.
“Melina, Alexei, Natasha, Yelena! You’re finally here, thank you for coming!” Your father greeted the family while your mother gave each of them a quick hug.
“You all look lovely tonight.” she said.
“Oh, the same goes for you two as well.” Melina returned the compliment.
Your mother looked towards Natasha, “Y/n is still in her room getting ready and should be down in just a few minutes, but you’re welcome to go find her if you’d like.”
Natasha nodded, “Thank you, Mrs. Y/l/n.” she responded before moving past them to make her way to your room.
She knocked on the door and smiled to herself when she heard your comforting voice call out.
“Just a second!”
A few moments later the door opened and you stood face to face, “Nat!” you exclaimed happily and pulled her in for a tight hug.
“Hey, birthday girl.” Natasha chuckled. “Am I interrupting anything?”
You let her go and shook your head, “Not at all. I’m just about ready anyway.” you answered and returned to your spot in front of your mirror.
Natasha migrated further into the room and rested against your bed frame. “Well, you look amazing.” she said.
You turned to look back at her with a smile on your lips, “Thanks,” you replied and took in her attire. “You don’t look too bad yourself.”
The young knight smiled and looked down while you went back to fixing your hair. Natasha tried her best not to stare, but that was proving to be difficult as she kept lifting her head to glance at you.
She decided to break the comfortable silence to distract herself. “Is now a good time for me to give you your gift? I know it’s not time to open presents yet, but I think it’ll look good with your dress.”
You looked back at her again, “Nat, you didn’t have to get me anything.”
“I knew you’d say that, but I wanted to.” Natasha moved to stand behind you before meeting your eyes through the mirror.
When she pulled something out of her pocket and gently placed it around your neck, you realized that it was a necklace, the charm attached shimmering in the light.
You looked down at the piece of jewelry in awe, “Oh Nat, it’s beautiful.” you said and turned around completely to face her.
“It looks even better on you.” she flattered. You couldn’t stop your cheeks from turning a light shade of pink and Natasha grinned at the effect she had on you.
It took a moment for you to gather your composure before taking her hand in yours. “Come on, there’s an entire party downstairs and I wanna see what kind of food they have.” you both giggled as you dragged her down the stairs and to the ballroom.
Hours later the party was now in full swing. You had received happy birthday wishes from so many people you lost count, and ate so many different desserts that you’d probably have a stomachache the next day.
When people began setting down their drinks to find space to dance, Natasha looked towards you and thought she’d take the opportunity to ask you to dance with her.
“May I have—” she started to say, but was interrupted when a young boy around your age approached you.
“Um, excuse me, Princess. Would you like to dance with me?” he asked, clearly nervous considering his fidgeting hands.
As much as you wanted to decline his offer, you felt obligated to accept as you were the kingdoms princess. You looked at Natasha with an apologetic expression and told her you’d be right back before following the boy.
Anyone that looked at the redhead would be able to tell she was annoyed— it was written all over here face.
So when she made her way over to her family, Yelena raised an eyebrow. “What’s up with you?”
The young knight sighed and crossed her arms over her chest, “Someone else decided to sweep her off her feet.”
All she could do was watch as you kept getting pulled away to dance with people. Whenever a song ended and you tried to make your way back over to her, someone else was by your side asking to dance. To both of you, it felt like forever before you were finally back together.
The song came to an end you were practically speed walking to where Natasha was standing off to the side in a successful attempt to avoid getting pulled away again.
“Hey, I’m so sorry. I swear they just kept coming out of no where.” you breathed out, gulping down your glass of water to catch your breath.
Natasha smiled and shook her head, “It’s okay, is it my turn now or are you too worn out?”
You playfully rolled your eyes and laughed, “Don’t be ridiculous, Natty.” you took her hand and led her to an empty space amongst other dancing people.
Her arms encircled your waist while yours wrapped loosely around her neck. Neither of you exactly knew how to dance, so you just gently swayed with the music.
The young knight found that the annoyance she was feeling early could no longer be felt now that she finally had you. She was too happy to focus on anything except you— but there was one other thing on her mind.
“Can I ask you something?” Natasha said.
You hummed, nodding your head. “Of course, Nat.”
She sighed contently and tightened her hold on you. “I think we both know that we’ve felt something for each other that’s more than best friends, even as little kids. I mean my parents still won’t let me forget about that time I asked you to marry me when we were what? Six?” she spoke and you both laughed at the memory.
“And I did say yes. Actually, if I recall correctly I was pretty enthusiastic about it too.” you giggled.
“Yeah, you were.” Natasha grinned. “But I wanted to know if you’d maybe wanna make our relationship official. You know, so I can be the only one you dance with at parties like these.” she asked hopefully.
You looked at her with a smirk plastered across your face and raised eyebrows. “Are you asking me to be your girlfriend?”
“Well— yeah…I am.”
You smiled and laid your head on her shoulder, “I’d love nothing more, Nat.” you said and your answer brought an even bigger grin to her face.
What you didn’t know was that your mothers were watching the scene unfold from across the room, sipping on glasses of expensive wine.
Your mother playfully shook her head, “Like true soulmates.” she spoke and Melina hummed in agreement.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
(Two years later)
“Do you have to go?” you said sadly.
You stood on the dock clutching onto the young knight as if she’d disappear into thin air if you let go while she held you just as tight. Both of your families stood around talking, watching the saddening encounter.
Natasha was about to leave for her first ever commission. It was an overseas assignment for her to prove her ability to protect the kingdoms Princess, so as much as she didn’t want to leave you, she had to.
The young knight cupped the back of your head with one hand and pressed her nose into your hair, basking in the comforting scent of your shampoo to soak up her last few moments with you before her departure.
“You’ll be okay, Y/n. Three weeks, and then I’ll be back with you again.” she assured.
“Three weeks without you is too long.” you said. You and Natasha had always been inseparable, so it was hard knowing that she’d be so far away.
“I know, princess, I know.” Natasha whispered into your hair. It was only when she heard you sniffle and felt tears wetting her neck that she pulled back to look at you. “Hey,” she cooed and cupped your cheeks.
“It’ll go by so fast you won’t even remember I’m gone. Yelena promised me she’d keep you company, and she basically is me because she’s my sister, so hopefully you won’t miss me too much.”
That made a small smile pull at your lips. “No offense to Yelena, but no one could ever compare to you, Nat. I’ll miss you so much, and what if you get hurt over there?” you said.
Natasha smiled and kissed your forehead, “I’ll be okay, princess. It’ll all be okay, I promise.”
Her thumbs swiped under your eyes to wipe away your tears before she closed the distance between the two of you and connected your lips.
You both knew you had to keep it short and sweet considering both of your families were still there.
“I love you so much, Nat.” you whispered.
She gazed lovingly at you, “I love you more, my beautiful girl. So much more.” the words fell from Natasha’s lips ever so softly.
You were unfortunately brought out of your little bubble with Natasha much sooner than you would’ve liked when over her shoulder, you caught sight of Natasha’s commander walking off of the ship and towards you.
He cleared his throat, now catching everyone’s attention. “I hate to do this, but the captain’s ready. It’s time to go, romanoff.” he announced.
Your heart dropped as you’d been dreading this moment.
“Yes, sir. I’ll be just a second.” Natasha said.
He nodded his head and walked back onto the ship.
The young knight turned to you and sighed, “I guess that’s my cue.” she said and you nodded in understanding.
Natasha let go of you to approach her family, giving her parents and a hug as well as your parents. She exchanged words with them that you couldn’t really hear before making her way back over to you.
She delicately cupped your face in her hands and pressed her lips to yours once again. You both poured all of your love and passion for each other into the kiss, knowing it’d be the last one until she got back.
You pulled away and rested your forehead against hers. “See you in three weeks?”
“See you in three weeks.” she promised.
You let Natasha go and watched as she boarded. The ship departed soon after.
The castle suddenly became quieter for you with the young knight gone. You of course had to continue with your usual duties and responsibilities because life goes on, but it wasn’t the same without Natasha around.
What made it bearable was that you still had your parents to go into town with every Tuesday and visit all of your favorite spots like normal, conversing with the workers there that you’d become good friends with over the years.
Yelena kept her word and would hang out with you whenever you had free time to distract you from the thought of Natasha being overseas. Melina and Alexei were great as well and did whatever they could to help.
With all of that combined, everything turned out to be okay just like Natasha had said.
And the young knight made good of her promise to you because three weeks later, your father had knocked on your bedroom door, pulling your attention away from the book in your hands to inform you that Natasha’s ship had just returned.
You jumped out of bed so fast, not even bothering to mark your page as you rushed out of the castle and down to the docks. You probably looked like a madman with the way you were running, a huge smile plastered on your face.
But you didn’t care because you got to the docks right on time to see Natasha walking off the ship. When her eyes locked on you she grinned widely and dropped her bags to meet you halfway as you practically leaped into her arms.
~~~~~~~~
(Time jump a few years later/present day)
You turned off the faucet and shook your hands to rid them of dripping water before drying them completely with the hand towel hung on the wall. A gentle smile sat on your lips, one that hasn’t left your face since the night began.
It was the day that you could only dream of as a little kid.
Literally.
You opened the bathroom door and started to walk out, wanting to get back to the after-party before you missed out on too much of this important night when you felt a gentle grip on your wrist.
Whoever grabbed you had pulled you back into them so your back was against their front, but you didn’t panic too much because you immediately recognized the familiar cologne of your wife whom you just tied the knot with merely a couple hours ago.
She wrapped her arms arms around your torso and pressed a feather light kiss to your neck. “There you are, my love. I lost you there for a moment, I missed you.”
You giggled as her breath tickled your neck. “I was only gone for a few minutes, Nat.”
“A few minutes too long. But now that I found you, I can have a moment with you alone before we go back to everyone.”
You hummed and relaxed back into her, letting out a content sigh as you admired the shining ring that Natasha had slid onto your finger after vowing to you that she would spend the rest of her life by your side.
That this was forever like it was always meant to be.
“I can’t believe we’re actually married.” you whispered out.
Natasha smiled against you. “I know, it feels so surreal. Six year old me would be over the moon right now.”
You both laughed at that. It probably was true.
“You know our moms always called us soulmates.” Natasha said as she reached to take your left hand into hers, staring at the ring and smiling to herself at the memories coming back to her.
“Yeah,” you giggled, “They were right though, weren’t they?”
The redhead sighed happily, “They were.”
You two basked in each other’s presence in silence for a moment as Natasha pressed small kisses to any part of your skin she could reach. You giggled whenever her lips touched a ticklish spot.
“We should probably go back out there now. Before people start thinking we abandoned our own wedding.” you joked.
Natasha chuckled, though continuing her ministrations, “We can spare a few more minutes, right?”
You playfully rolled your eyes, “No, we cannot. Because you’re going to get carried away and then we’re going to actually abandon our own wedding.”
The redhead groaned when you began pulling away from her, but you made it up to her by pressing a kiss to her lips which seemed to satisfy her for now before taking her hand and leading her back to the after-party.
“There you guys are!” Yelena said once she saw the two of you, “We’ve been looking for you. It’s time for your guy’s first dance.”
She dragged you both over to your parents where they were waiting.
You couldn’t help the smile that seemed to take over your face.
Everything was perfect as can be, and now you get to enjoy it all with your soulmate.
The narrow, dimly lit alley was eerily quiet, save for the soft shuffle of boots on cobblestone. Two figures move with purposeful grace, their sharp gaze scanning the path ahead.
“Queens don’t usually involve themselves in investigations and missions like this,” Steve remarks pointedly, casting a sidelong glance at the concealed figure beside him.
“That’s not true,” Natasha counters smoothly, not breaking stride. “My parents didn’t stand on the sidelines when they were king and queen. They were always involved. Besides, she’s my sister,” she adds firmly. “It’s my responsibility to know what she’s up to.”
Steve raises an eyebrow, unconvinced.
“And I’m sure this has nothing to do with avoiding your mother’s request for some of your time today.”
Natasha’s lips press into a thin line, choosing to say nothing as her response, but that silence is answer enough.
Steve sighs knowingly.
“If you don’t want a big celebration for your birthday, you can just tell her.”
Natasha’s mouth twists slightly, though her hood hides the expression from him.
It wasn’t the celebration itself that she had a problem with.
The real issue was that no matter how extravagant or intimate the event, it wouldn’t change the fact that she couldn’t spend the day with the one person she wanted to celebrate it with the most.
Her thoughts flicker back to last year.
Of how the supposedly joyous occasion had instead become a day marred by chaos and trauma.
She had hoped this year could be different—a chance to create a new memory of happiness to replace the past.
But with circumstances as they are, that hope seems far-fetched.
Natasha lets out a quiet sigh, pushing the thought aside.
There was no use dwelling on it now. She’ll just accept whatever idea her mother comes up with when she returns.
Refocusing, she turns her attention to their current mission: finding Yelena and figuring out exactly what she’d gotten herself into this time.
The investigation had led them to this part of town, notorious for its shady dealings and less-than-reputable characters.
Natasha’s sharp eyes dart to the buildings they pass, noting the darkened windows and wary faces that peeked out from behind curtains.
As they go deeper into the streets, more signs of life emerge, yet it’s still strangely hushed, the air thick with unspoken tension.
Natasha notices something else, too. The way the crowd parted as they walked, people giving them a wide berth.
Suspicious glances were thrown their way, not at her—her cloak did well to obscure her identity—but at Steve.
The towering blond man was receiving a mix of wary and curious looks, and it didn’t take much to figure out why.
Natasha sighs again, this time with a hint of exasperation.
“No offense, Steve,” she begins, her voice carrying a dry edge, “but you’re terrible at blending in.”
Steve glances down at himself, confused. His attire was casual, certainly nothing out of the ordinary—simple trousers, a loose shirt, and a cloak.
“What do you mean?” he asks, genuinely puzzled.
She gestures toward him.
“Your posture, your stance. The way you carry yourself. It screams ‘knight.’”
Steve straightens reflexively at her comment, clearly unsure whether to take it as a compliment or a criticism.
“I’m just walking.”
“You’re marching,” Natasha corrects, her tone flat. “Head high, shoulders back, always scanning like you’re guarding someone.”
“That’s cause I am,” Steve points out, only half-defensively.
Natasha rolls her eyes and continues down the path with her leading the way as Steve falls a step behind, attempting—unsuccessfully—to appear less imposing.
As they round a corner, the faint sound of barking reaches Natasha’s ears. Her eyes scan the area, and she spots two dogs just outside a tavern.
At first glance, their coats muddied and darkened with soot nearly fool her, but when Natasha observes them closer, she recognizes the familiarity.
Narrowing her eyes, Natasha whistles softly, a distinct sound she knew only a select few would recognize.
One of the dogs immediately perks up, its ears twitching. It turns toward her, tail wagging enthusiastically, before trotting over with a familiar bounce.
“Hey, Fanny,” Natasha greets, crouching slightly to pat the dog’s head. Her voice carries a mix of affection and exasperation. “Where’s Yelena?”
The dog barks once in response before turning toward the tavern door, her nose pointing unmistakably in its direction.
Natasha straightens with a sigh.
“I’m guessing Kate’s with her too,” Steve remarks, his eyes drifting to the other dog in the distance. He sighs heavily, rubbing the back of his neck. “As a knight in training, she should know better than to let Yelena be in places like this.”
“Trust me,” Natasha says knowingly. “I’m sure she tried her best to stop her. This is Yelena we’re talking about.”
Her focus shifts to Kate's dog, Lucky, who is still barking excitedly at something high in the air.
Frowning, Natasha tilts her head, trying to glimpse whatever had captured the dog’s attention.
Her heart stops when she notices the faint outline of a bird circling above—and the unmistakable flash of red feathers on one of the wings.
“Steve,” Natasha says sharply, grabbing his arm and pointing toward the falcon. “Tell me that’s just some random bird.”
Steve follows her line of sight, his jaw tightening as he hesitates. Finally, he lets out a low, noncommittal sound, which only confirm her suspicions.
Natasha exhales a long, frustrated sigh, pinching the bridge of her nose, wondering why in the world you are in such a dangerous part of town.
Steve must’ve mistaken her reaction for nervousness to meet with you again after witnessing the small confrontation between you and her during the council meeting.
“You want to stay out here while I go in?” Steve offers, already stepping forward.
Natasha stops him with a wave of her hand.
“No. You’ll draw too much attention in there,” she says. “Stay here and secure the perimeter.”
Steve nods reluctantly, stepping back as Natasha moves to step inside.
The moment she enters, a wave of noise and activity hits her. Natasha’s eyes quickly scan the space, taking note of exits, potential threats, and the clusters of people gathered in conversation.
Her attention is soon drawn to a commotion at the far end of the room.
Rowdy onlookers surround a table, their cheers and jeers rising above the din. As she moves closer, fragments of conversation reach her ears, punctuated by a familiar voice.
“Aww, is the big man scared?” a teasing tone rings out, followed by a roar of laughter from the crowd.
Natasha sighs exasperatedly, muttering under her breath, “Yelena…”
The crowd shifts, giving her a clearer view of the table.
There was her sister, masked and oddly sporting black hair but unmistakable as she leaned back in her chair with an infuriatingly confident grin.
Across from her sat a burly man, his face red with anger as he glared at his cards.
Behind Yelena, another figure stands nervously—a masked woman fidgeting with the bow strapped on her back.
“Kate,” Natasha murmurs, shaking her head.
Her gaze sweeps the crowd once more until it finally lands on you.
You were blending in among the other patrons, partially obscured by the hood of your cloak, but to Natasha, you always stand out above everyone else in her eyes.
Natasha immediately moves toward you, weaving her way through the crowd.
As she approaches, she notices your body tense as your gaze locks onto something at the table.
Natasha follows your line of sight, her expression frowning when she sees what had caused your reaction.
Yelena was casually twirling a dagger in her hand, the blade catching the light.
Natasha’s frown deepens when she realizes it wasn’t just any dagger—it was the one she had lent Yelena, the one you had gifted her.
And Yelena appears to be contemplating using it as part of her wager.
At the possibility, Natasha could see the tension increase in your frame, the way you clench your fists and begin to step forward.
Not wanting you to be in the middle of a confrontation, Natasha reacts instinctively, reaching out to grab your arm and pulling you back into the cover of the crowd.
What she didn’t expect was for you to jab your elbow sharply into her side.
The sudden impact made her loosen her grip slightly, though she didn’t entirely let go.
Instead, she tilts her head to meet your gaze, her hood revealing just enough for you to recognize her.
“Natasha?” you hiss, your tone both surprised and accusatory.
Natasha rubs the spot where you’d elbowed her, a smirk tugging at her lips despite the situation.
“Not bad,” she remarks, a note of pride in her voice.
“Oh my god, I’m so sorry,” you whisper, flustered.
Moving closer, you instinctively rub soothing circles on the spot you had hit before your eyes widen in realization.
“Wait a second!” you continue, giving her a softer but reprimanding smack on the arm. “You’re not even supposed to be here! What are you doing here?”
Natasha raises an eyebrow, throwing the question right back at you.
“What are you doing here?”
Your eyes widen as if remembering the reason for your presence here, and you hesitate, your eyes darting away.
Natasha recognizes the look immediately—it was the one you always wore when you were about to dodge a subject.
Before she could press further, you shake your head and deflect the conversation.
“Why does Yelena have the gift I gave you?” you ask, your tone sharp.
“I let her borrow it,” Natasha replies simply, though her voice carries an edge of regret now.
“Well, she’s about to bet it in a game of cards,” you snap back, frustration clear.
Natasha’s brows furrow, her lips pressing into a thin line.
“I’m sure Yelena is just messing around. She wouldn’t—”
“All right, all in!” Yelena’s voice rings out, triumphant and smug.
Natasha’s jaw drops, her eyes snapping up.
“I’m going to kill her,” she growls, about to push through the crowd, but you hold her arms, stopping her in her tracks and blocking her way.
“You can’t risk revealing yourself here, Natasha,” you whisper in warning, your voice low but firm. “Think about it—one wrong move, and everyone in this room will know who you are.”
Natasha pauses, her gaze flickering between you and the other shady characters around her, weighing her options. More than half of them probably wouldn’t hesitate to attack or try to capture and use who she is for their own gain.
Knowing you’re right, she exhales sharply and gives you a curt nod in agreement to stay put.
The two of you turn to watch as the game proceeds.
Despite the precarious situation, Natasha can’t help but feel her focus shift momentarily when your hand finds hers, gently pulling it around your midsection.
The inviting gesture is instinctive–natural–as though you belong there in her arms.
Natasha’s hold tightens slightly, drawing you closer until your back rests entirely against her. Her chin dips subtly, brushing against the edge of your hood, and she allows herself a moment to simply exist in the comfort of your warmth.
The chaotic noise of the tavern fades just a little, replaced by the steady rhythm of your breathing.
Like always, you fit perfectly against her, a seamless connection that feels as familiar as it is grounding.
Natasha’s fingers spread against your midsection, her touch firm yet protective, as if anchoring you to her in this swirling world of chaos.
A small smile tugs at the corner of her lips, one that she doesn’t even try to suppress.
If she could stay like this—holding you close, feeling your warmth and presence—she wouldn’t ask for anything more.
To stay in this moment, that would be her perfect wish for her birthday: no grand celebrations, no feasts, just you in her arms, safe and near.
But the moment is fleeting.
Natasha’s attention is pulled away when the crowd erupts with cheers and groans. She stiffens slightly, her gaze snapping back to the table.
Yelena is standing now, triumphant as she gathers her winnings, your gift safely returned to her side.
You release a sigh of relief, relaxing back against Natasha as the possible conflict appears to subside.
Her arms remain around you for a moment longer, her protective instincts keeping you close, but her eyes also focus on her sister to ensure her safety too.
As Yelena turns to leave, the burly man across from her slams his fists onto the surface. The noise reverberates through the room, silencing the crowd and drawing every gaze to him.
“You think you can just make a fool out of me, take my money, and walk away?” he growls, his face flushed with anger and humiliation. His chair scrapes loudly against the floor as he stands, towering over Yelena.
“Sit back down. We’re playing another round.”
Yelena’s masked face tilts slightly, her body language relaxed, almost amused.
“Sorry, big guy,” she says airily. “A deal’s a deal. You lost. Better luck next time.”
The man’s hand darts out, grabbing her arm in a bruising grip.
“I said sit down,” he snarls, his voice dropping to a dangerous level.
Standing just behind Yelena, Kate freezes, her hand twitching toward her bow, but she hesitates, clearly unsure how to proceed.
Natasha tenses, her protective instincts flaring as she starts to move forward.
“No,” you whisper sharply, stopping her with a firm grip on her arm. “You can’t.”
Her head snaps to you, disbelief flashing in her eyes.
“He’s threatening my sister,” she hisses, her voice low but deadly.
“And if you step in, they might recognize you, and we’ll have an even bigger problem,” you remind her, your voice calm but insistent. “Let me handle this.”
“Handle it?” Natasha repeats incredulously, her gaze flicking between you and the escalating situation at the table. “How?”
“Just trust me,” you say, already stepping forward before she can stop you.
Natasha clenches her fists, her jaw tightening as she watches you approach the table.
Her every instinct screams to intervene, but she forces herself to stay put, trusting you despite the growing knot of worry in her chest.
You slip through the crowd, your movements calm and deliberate, raising your hands in a placating gesture as you approach the table.
“Now, let’s not let a friendly game turn into something regrettable,” you say, your voice carrying just enough authority to catch everyone’s attention.
The burly man turns his glare to you, his grip on Yelena’s arm tightening. His eyes raked over you suspiciously.
“Who the hell are you?” he demands, his tone dripping with hostility.
Without a word, you reach up and lower your hood, revealing your face.
“I’m Lady Y/n Dreykov.”
Kate audibly sucked in a breath. “Oh…”
“…shit,” Yelena finishes for her, her voice tinged with surprise and apprehension.
Your house title is usually effective in any scenario, though with recent events, the response is slightly different than the previous caution and fear. Around the room, murmured whispers began to ripple through the crowd.
“Hold on…Dreykov? As in the traitors?”
“Never imagined their house would fall this low…”
Natasha’s hands curled into fists, her anger bubbling to the surface at the words directed at you.
Nearby, a particularly unpleasant man pushes forward through the crowd, his smirk leering.
“Well, if the lady wants a friend to play with, I can show her how friendly we are down here,” he slurs with a disgusting grin.
As he passes Natasha, his shoulder pushing hers, she acts in a swift, calculated motion.
With a discreet move, she stomps down hard on his foot. The man yelps, doubling over in pain, and Natasha smoothly delivers a sharp punch to his stomach. He collapses to the ground with a strangled heave, clutching his midsection as he remains in his prone position.
Natasha casually resumes her stance, her expression neutral as she glances around the room. The other patrons barely notice, dismissing the man’s collapse as the effects of too much alcohol.
Meanwhile, you remain composed and unflinching despite the murmurs around you, your attention focused solely on the man still holding Yelena’s arm.
“How about another game?” you offer, your tone calm but laced with subtle authority.
The man’s eyes narrow, suspicion and pride warring on his face. “With you?”
Without answering, you reach into your cloak and pull out a hefty pouch of coins, setting it on the table with a deliberate thud. The clinking of the coins is unmistakable, drawing the attention of the entire room.
The man’s gaze flicks to the pouch, his expression shifting slightly. The allure of more money is clear in his eyes, but so is his wariness.
After a long pause, he releases Yelena, who is quickly pulled away to a safe distance by Kate, and sits back down, gesturing to the seat across from him.
“All right,” he said, his voice low and gruff. “Let’s see if you’re as lucky as that brat is.”
You smile faintly, taking your seat.
Among the crowd, Natasha watches closely, her eyes never leaving you.
Despite the situation, a light smirk tugs at the corner of her lips as she watches you pick up the deck of cards and begin shuffling. She knows better than anyone that luck has little to do with your skill.
Games, puzzles, strategy—these have always been your strong suit. Natasha learned long ago never to challenge you to anything like that without careful planning or calculated risks.
“Let’s all just have a good time,” you say, your voice smooth and pleasant, as you deal the cards.
That same enchanting smile Natasha knows so well graces your lips, the kind of smile that always manages to lower defenses and captivate attention.
The game begins, and as Natasha predicted, you quickly prove yourself.
Each move you make is calculated and deliberate, a balance of strategy and subtlety. Unlike Yelena’s bold, audacious style, your approach is graceful and humble, drawing in the crowd with your calm confidence.
The tension that previously dominated the room dissipates, replaced by a calmer atmosphere of camaraderie. The cutthroat gambling match now feels more like a friendly game among peers.
Even your opponent, whose gruff exterior seemed impenetrable, starts to show hints of amusement.
Laughter and cheers ripple through the room with every round, and the growing excitement draws an even larger crowd. The press of bodies around the table pushes Natasha forward slightly, giving her a better view of the unfolding scene.
Impressed murmurs rise from the onlookers until one in particular catches her attention.
“Can you believe this, Happy?” a voice nearby cuts through the noise. “You give her some money for a drink, and she spends it on a game instead.”
Natasha’s brows furrow at the words, her gaze discreetly scanning the crowd for the source, but with so many people packed tightly around her, it’s difficult to pinpoint.
Then, out of the corner of her eye, she notices something that makes her stomach tighten with unease—a faint yellow glow emanating from beneath a cloaked figure’s arm before it’s quickly concealed.
Natasha’s instincts flare. Her eyes lock onto the figure, who she realizes is weaving steadily through the crowd toward the table—toward you.
Immediately, Natasha moves to follow, her focus trained on the cloaked individual as she slips through the crowd. She edges closer toward the center, her eyes never leaving the figure, until she reaches Yelena and Kate’s position at the edge of the gathering.
Reaching their side, Natasha places a hand on Yelena’s shoulder, startling her younger sister slightly. Yelena looks up abruptly, her mouth falling open in recognition. Before Yelena can say a word, Natasha’s expression hardens, and she gives her a stern warning glare.
The message is clear: Stay quiet and stay back.
Natasha ushers Yelena and Kate behind her, positioning herself as a barrier between them and whatever threat there might be.
Her focus snaps back to the figure just as they reach the front of the crowd, their attention fixed solely on you.
At that moment, the game reaches its climax with another of your perfectly executed moves. Cheers erupt from the crowd as you lay your cards on the table.
The burly man opposite you grumbles, his frustration masked by the impressed grin he offers. Coins clink as they are added to your growing pile of winnings, and the lively energy in the room swelled.
Then it happened.
Taking advantage of the eruption of cheers and laughter, the cloaked figure lunges forward, their gloved hand outstretched with a glowing stone aimed directly at you.
Natasha reacts immediately, her body moving faster than her thoughts as she rushes toward the attacker. Just as she is about to reach them, another blur of motion also intercepts the figure’s strike at the same time.
A stranger appears between you and the attacker.
Natasha pauses for a split second, her mind registering that this new figure was also equipped with a glove strikingly similar to the attacker’s, except without the glowing hue.
The stranger’s gloved hand shoots out, meeting the attacker’s mid-lunge, the impact emitting a sharp, resonant hum. A sudden force erupts between the gloves, repelling the attacker’s hand backward, away from you.
With the attack directed at you momentarily thwarted, Natasha seizes the opportunity.
Her hand darts out, grabbing the attacker’s wrist with a steely grip. But as her fingers brushed against the glowing stone embedded in the glove, her mind was yanked somewhere else entirely.
For a split second, she wasn’t in the tavern. Instead, she was back in that hauntingly vivid moment—that moment.
Blood spilled across her hands as you lay crumpled in her arms, your face pale and your breathing faint. The weight of helplessness and fear pressed down on her chest as she screamed your name, her voice raw and desperate.
Natasha gasps sharply, shaking herself free of the memory with a force of will. She focuses on the present, channeling her rattled emotions into action.
With a fluid, precise maneuver, she twists the attacker’s wrist and uses their momentum against them. In one seamless motion, she flips them onto the table. The wood splinters beneath the force, shattering on impact, and a bright light explodes and fills the room.
Coins scattered everywhere, clinking against the floor in a chaotic cacophony.
Immediately, the tavern erupts into chaos. Some people surge forward, scrambling for the spilled coins, while others take advantage of the confusion to pick fights. Shouts and crashes fill the air.
Natasha stands amidst the chaos, her chest heaving as her breathing turns shallow and erratic. Her gaze remains locked on the now dimming stone at the downed figure’s side, suspicion and unease growing in her chest.
The vision—the memory—lingers in her mind, vivid and suffocating. She couldn’t shake the image of your blood on her hands.
But then a warm, familiar touch cups her face gently, breaking through her spiraling thoughts.
Her wide, unfocused eyes meet yours, and though your lips are moving, she couldn’t hear the words. It felt distant, muffled by the storm raging in her mind.
Slowly, the sounds of the room begin to return—the shouting, the clamor of fists and chairs—but your voice is what brings her back.
“Natasha,” you repeat, your tone firm yet soothing. “Look at me. Are you okay?”
Her gaze locks on your searching ones, the chaotic storm in her mind settling slightly as she absently nods, grounding herself in your presence. Then her eyes dart around, taking in the havoc unfolding around you.
“We need to go,” she says abruptly, her voice regaining its strength. She grabs your hand firmly, pulling you through the crowd. With practiced efficiency, she navigates the chaos, quickly locating Kate and Yelena near the back of the room.
“Move!” Natasha commands, ushering the two younger women ahead of her as she keeps you close at her side. Together, the four of you slip out into the night, the muffled sounds of chaos fading behind you.
Outside, Natasha leads you to a quiet alley, her breathing still uneven. She leans against the wall, her hand gripping your arm as though grounding herself further.
The glowing stone haunts her thoughts, and the memory it brought up lingers in the back of her mind. But when she looks at you, alive and whole in front of her, she feels the faintest flicker of relief.
“Are you okay?” you ask softly, brushing your hand over hers.
Giving your hand a gentle squeeze, Natasha nods quick but stiffly, her lips pressing into a tight line.
“I’m fine,” she says, though the slight tremble in her voice betrayed her. “We’re fine.”
Before you could press further, Steve’s voice emerges from the shadows, his gaze scanning over the four of you with concern. “Everyone okay? What happened in there?”
“Nat started a bar fight by throwing a guy,” Yelena answers plainly, her tone far too nonchalant for the situation.
Natasha releases a deep breath, scoffing in disbelief as she straightens and turns to glare at her sister.
“You mean, saving your ass from getting killed. What were you thinking, Yelena, going into a place like that and provoking them?”
Before the argument can escalate, you step in front of Natasha, placing a calming hand on her arm. Across from you, Kate mirrors your actions, gently restraining Yelena. Together, the two of you create a barrier between the sisters, preventing the brewing storm from erupting.
A low whistle interrupts the tension, drawing everyone’s attention to the side of the group.
Natasha turns her head sharply, her eyes locking onto the same stranger who had intervened during the tavern fight. He was approaching them with another man following close behind.
“Like I said,” the stranger says with a smirk, his words Natasha realizes directed at you, “you really know how to attract trouble, huh?”
Natasha’s gaze flicks to you, finding your expression twisted into an annoyed scowl. A deep sigh escapes your lips, and your hand instinctively pushes Natasha slightly behind you, as if shielding her from view.
“You didn’t need to step in,” you say, your tone sharp and clipped.
“Clearly,” the stranger replies smoothly, his eyes flickering across the group before settling on Natasha. His gaze drops briefly to your hand on her arm, a smirk tugging at the corners of his lips. “Looks like you’ve got more people protecting you than just those little twins.”
He nudges the man beside him. “Look, Happy, she even has a knight playing dress-up.”
Natasha shoots a pointed look at Steve, her expression screaming I told you so.
Steve sighs, clearly catching her unspoken message, and shifts his attention to the stranger, his posture tightening as his eyes narrowed slightly.
“We should probably go, sir,” the man named Happy suggests quietly, eyeing the group warily.
“Yes, please do,” you snap, your irritation palpable.
Natasha’s brows furrow as she watches you. She’d never seen you this short-tempered with someone before.
The stranger’s smirk only widens at your tone.
“Fair enough,” he says, turning to leave with a wave of his hand. “Oh, and a small warning,” he adds, glancing over his shoulder, “you’d better bring her home safely. There’s a little redhead who’ll throw a tantrum if you don’t.”
Natasha catches your irritated sigh as you turn back toward her. Tilting her head slightly, she asks, “Who was that?”
You exhale deeply, running a hand over your face.
“Just ignore him,” you mutter. “He’s someone I hired to help fix the gate at my manor.”
Natasha opens her mouth to press further, but her sharp instincts catch movement out of the corner of her eye. She turns swiftly, her gaze zeroing in on the two figures attempting to slip away unnoticed.
“Don’t even think about it,” Natasha calls out, her voice sharp as a whip.
Yelena freezes mid-step, groaning loudly before turning back around to face her sister.
“What?” she asks, her tone feigning innocence as her arms crossed over her chest.
Natasha crosses her own arms, leveling an unimpressed glare at Yelena before shifting her focus to Kate, who stands awkwardly beside her. Under Natasha’s intense scrutiny, Kate caves quickly.
“Yelena made me promise not to tell you!” Kate blurts out, pointing at Yelena as if to absolve herself of guilt.
“Really, Kate Bishop?” Yelena gasps, swatting Kate’s hand down. “Where is the loyalty?”
The two begin bickering, their voices overlapping as they try to blame each other for the current situation. Natasha closes her eyes and pinches the bridge of her nose, exhaling slowly in exhaustion.
Steve interrupts the argument with a firm clap of his hands.
“Can we continue this somewhere safer?”
You glance around the dark alley, your expression skeptical.
“Is there even such a place around here?”
Yelena raises her hand with a slight, proud smirk.
“I know one.”
TLC (🌶️)
Bambi!Wanda x Reader
Life was well adjusting for you, your doe hybrid wife Wanda and of course the twin hybrid boys Billy and Tommy. The four of you all felt like one big happy family.
The Sanctuary was up and running well. The public loves you and a Wanda as the spokespeople for the organization.
Overall, life was perfect. But there was a little nagging feeling at the back of Wanda’s head. It appeared every time she looked into the mirror after a shower.
Wanda didn’t think she looked as beautiful as when she met you. True she had put on a little bit of weight, not much. In fact you didn’t even notice it. But she did. Of course a person is their own worst enemy.
Natasha approached you one day in the Sanctuary’s office.
“Hey boss,” she smirked, “I need these papers signed by the end of today and Wanda needs your love”
“I love my doe. I tell her every day” you replied.
“True but I think she needs a special reminder, bud.” Natasha explains, “she needs to know that she’s still a goddess in your eyes”
You quickly sign Natasha’s papers and hurry out the door, “I’m taking the rest of the day off. Thanks Wolf Buddy!”
You took Wanda home and drew her a bath. You set out a home spa kit for her and turned down the lights in the bathroom.
“Detka,” your doe mate giggles and blushes at your display of affection.
“Just take a little you break, okay?” You topped it off with a kiss, “the boys are staying with Natasha tonight”
And with that, you gently closed the door and let Wanda have a little afternoon alone in the bathroom with some scented candles and some relaxing lavender scented bath bombs.
Meanwhile you went to work, crafting a homemade vegan meal for you and your beloved mate. You loved cooking for Wanda and the boys. It was like a hidden love of yours.
You got the vegetarian dish on the stove simmering as you heard the gentle footsteps of your doe walking down the stairs. She was wrapped in your white robe and her hair was damp. As if there was any way that your mate couldn’t look more goddess like.
She gently walked over to you and wrapped you in a hug, kissing you softly. “Thank you, detka” she whispered against your lips.
“Oh that was just part one” you smiled.
“How many parts have you planned?” Your mate giggled.
“Three, five. I lost count, my doe” you shrugged your shoulders.
The vegetarian dish you prepared went perfectly with the wine that Wanda selected. The two of you are able to talk and communicate with one another like you were on your first date again. It felt marvelous.
You both changed into your pajamas and danced together in the living room to your favorite songs.
“Detka,” she giggles as she holds to you, “this night has just been perfect”
“We’re not done yet” you gave a wink.
You led Wanda back to the couch, a little uncertain. You and your doe were always very open with each other when it came to mating.
You sat her down and knelt before her like a knight before his queen.
“Wanda, do you trust me?” You gently asked her.
“Of course I do,” she giggled.
“Okay then just lean back, relax, and let me worship you, my doe”
Wanda simply leaned back, letting herself rest against the couch. You gave a kiss to her lips, then one to her neck and then another to her collarbone.
“Detka,” your mate gently moaned. You pulled back and got back on your knees.
You kissed her lower legs and then her knees and then as far up on her thighs as you could before hitting the fabric of her pj shorts.
Wanda was practically a panting mess at this point and you had barely begun.
“Shall I continue?” You asked her, your voice a little deeper with intent.
She grabbed the strings of her shorts and undid the knot, loosening them right up for you.
“P-Please,” she begged you. You happily obliged.
First you pulled down her shorts and continued kissing your way up her legs.
Wanda’s panting breathes were all the encouragement you needed.
“I-I dreamt about this for a long time” she sheepishly moans out.
“Really?” You looked up to your goddess of a mate, “like what kind of dreams?”
“I use to touch myself to thoughts of you,” she admits, a blush making its way across her face. “And there was one spot that always made me feel good”
“Guide me,” you respond. “Please. I want you to feel as good as you make me feel”
Wanda lets out a nervous giggle. She gently takes a hold of one of your hands and guides it down between her legs. Your fingertips brush a certain little spot
Immediately Wanda tenses up, “t-there it is! M-my pearl.”
You begin touching it softly, rubbing small circles.
“H-Harder. Please” she begs. You oblige. Within seconds, your doe is a whimpering mess.
“Detka!” She moans, “(Y/N)! Oh!! Don’t stop!! Please don’t stop!!!”
You gently pull down her cotton garment and begin worshipping her even more.
Within a few mere minutes, she was gripping your shoulders, tense and shouting your name. Her eyes were shut tight as the feelings of euphoria and absolute fulfillment rushed over her entire being.
Your doe collapsed against the cushions of your couch, trying to catch her breath and smiling like a contented house cat.
“Thank you, thank you!” She was repeating thru panting breaths.
“Thank you,” you kissed her tenderly, “for letting me worship you”
She took a firm hold of your shoulder and guided you to sit on the couch.
Your amazing mate then got on her knees in front of you, her eyes were darkened with lust, love and adoration for you.
“Now let me worship you,” she said with a lustful purr. Her deer tail shaking with anticipation. “And…don’t be afraid to hold on to my antlers.” She gave you a little wink as she began unbuckling your pants.
Wanda, your wife, your mate, a graceful doe, a loving deer. The two of you can and will love and worship each other for as long as you both shall live and then long after into eternity.
Kingdom of Secrets | Prologue | N. Romanoff
Knight!Natasha x younger!princess!Reader
MINOR DNI!! (18+!)
warnings: age gap (Natasha is 16 when she comes to the palace and the reader is 4 years old. At the end of this chapter Natasha is 33 and reader 21) fingering, begging, crying
word count: 4,5k
A/n: welcome to the prologue of Kingdom of Secrets! (Yes the title has a meaning) This is just the opening chapter. So it's not the first real part. It cost me already tears because I wanted it to come across the way people spoke back in the Middle Ages..so please give feedback!🫂
In the heart of the great kingdom of Celestria, where emerald fields stretch as far as the eye can see and spires kiss the sky, there was great anticipation in the royal court. King Alistair and Queen Seraphina Dawn, the beloved rulers of the realm, had long yearned for an heir to carry on the legacy of their noble lineage. The palace echoed with the whispers of courtiers as news spread of a momentous event.
Queen Seraphina was expecting a child.
Months passed, each one accompanied by prayers and whispered hopes echoing through the halls of the palace. The kingdom collectively held its breath, waiting for the joyous news that would bring new life to the royal family. The gardens adorned with blooming flowers bore witness to the ebb and flow of the seasons, reflecting the anticipation within the palace walls.
And then, as the golden colors of autumn tinged the landscape, the long-awaited moment arrived. Like a melody of hope, the announcement resounded through the kingdom and spread from town to town. Queen Seraphina had given birth to a daughter, a shining beacon of joy in the embrace of her parents' love.
The kingdom erupted in jubilation. Banners swayed in the fresh breeze, their colors dancing to the rhythm of the joy that flowed through the streets. The citizens rushed to the gates of the palace in their finest clothes to join in the royal rejoicing. The sweet scent of flowers was in the air and the distant sounds of musicians tuning their instruments heralded the great celebrations to come.
Inside the palace, the little princess lay in her mother's arms, wrapped in a tapestry of delicate silk. Queen Seraphina's eyes, glistening with tears of happiness, met King Alistair's gaze, a silent exchange that spoke volumes about the unspoken journey they had traveled to reach this blessed moment.
As the sun sank below the horizon, the palace gates opened to welcome the many well-wishers. The Great Hall, decorated with golden tapestries and crystal chandeliers, shone in the light of a thousand candles. Laughter and chatter filled the air as nobles, commoners and dignitaries alike joined in the celebration.
In the midst of this splendor, the little princess lay in her crib, surrounded by a symphony of admiration. Her tiny fingers, like rose petals, grasped at the air as if reaching for the love that surrounded her. The flickering candlelight painted her delicate features and cast a warm, ethereal glow on her.
Y/n, as she would later be called, became the beacon of hope that united the kingdom. Her laughter echoed through the palace like silver bells, eliciting smiles from all who basked in her innocent radiance. The court musicians, attuned to the heartbeat of the celebration, played melodies that blended with the collective heartbeat of the kingdom, a harmonious testament to the unity created by the birth of the princess.
Over the years, the princess's birthdays became a cherished tradition. The kingdom celebrated with greater fervor each year, turning the anniversary of her birth into a grand spectacle. The gardens, where once the whispers of anticipation could be heard, now bloomed in vibrant colors that reflected the princess's exuberant spirit.On her birthdays, the people of Celestria gathered to honor their beloved princess. The streets were lined with stalls selling sweet treats and enchanting trinkets. Musicians played lilting melodies and performers brought fairy tales to life through dance and theater. But amidst the splendor, it was Y/n herself who was in the spotlight.
Her laughter, the elixir that had breathed life into the kingdom years ago, echoed through the air. The joy that emanated from her was infectious and transformed the celebration into a mosaic of smiles and shared happiness. Y/n had become the living embodiment of the kingdom's dreams with her sparkling eyes and a heart full of kindness.
As Y/n grew, so did the kingdom around her. The once silent halls of the palace echoed with the footsteps of a vibrant princess whose spirit danced like the sunlight that fell through the leaves. She became a symbol of hope, bridging the realms of royalty and commonality - a beacon of unity for a kingdom that had waited with bated breath for her arrival.
And so, under the golden skies of Celestria, the royal court and citizens celebrated the birth of their princess, whose laughter echoed throughout the kingdom, mingling with the melodies of joy that had marked her grand entrance into the world.
But a shadowy group lurked in the hidden corridors beneath the splendor of the kingdom. Unseen and unheard, this gang shrouded in mystery plotted insidiously to infiltrate the royal house.
In the dimly lit chamber adorned with ancient symbols, the agents of the group - Shadows of Darkness - received a chilling instruction. The leaders, shrouded in the cloak of shadows, readjusted their strategy. Princess Y/n, an unforeseen variable, demanded an adjustment to their malevolent plans.
As Y/n's laughter rang through the palace, the group's secret game unfolded on an invisible chessboard. The birth of the princess upset their carefully laid plans and brought an element of unpredictability into play. Beneath the surface of the festivities, a calculated dance played out, where joyful echoes collided with the malice lurking in the shadows. Citizens and royalty revelled in blissful ignorance, unaware of the ominous threat lurking in the hidden corners of the palace. A dangerous dance began. One in which the laughter of a princess served as an eerie soundtrack to a covert operation that would reshape Celestria's destiny.
As daylight bathed the kingdom in golden hues, the shadowy group moved in secrecy. Their ominous influence extended to unsuspecting future queens. The dark puppet, manipulated by unseen hands, infiltrated the royal court and left a menacing presence.
The king, who had followers in every country, became aware of the terrifying power. Fearing for his family and the future of his country, he had his troops strengthened and also looked for a guardian for his daughter. So he spread the word throughout the country that a tournament was to be held in the late evening and that the bravest and strongest fighters were to take part.The anticipation of the great tournament was in the air that day. The king, seeking the perfect protector for his most precious treasure, gathered warriors from faraway lands. Men vying for the honor of protecting the jewel of the realm presented themselves in the arena.
The tournament, a spectacle of skill and courage, began with the clash of swords and the thundering hooves of warhorses. Knights from all corners of the realm showcased their skills, a dance of blades played out under the watchful eyes of the royal court.
As the dust settled and countless fighters succumbed to the skill of their opponents, there was a quiet tension among the spectators. The king, seated on his magnificent throne, surveyed the remaining warriors, his keen eyes searching for the one who would serve as a shield against the impending danger to the princess. Then, amidst the remaining fighters, a lone, young figure emerged, clad in armor that seemed to absorb the essence of the shadows. The air fell silent as this knight stepped forward, exuding an aura of fear and admiration. A murmur went through the audience, a collective acknowledgement that a formidable force had entered the arena.
The king, mesmerized and wary, leaned forward in his throne, a silent question etched on his regal countenance. "Tell me, what is a child doing on the field?" he asked his 1st in command. He bowed to his king, "Forgive me, my majesty, but you emphasized that the gates were open to anyone carrying a sword." The king forced the moment back into his mind and now looked further down, at the person.
At that very moment, the mysterious knight removed the helmet, revealing a cascade of fiery red hair framing a face marked by the scars of countless battles. Her piercing gaze, a mixture of steel and determination, met the king's eyes with an unwavering intensity. A murmur went through the hall as the realization set in. "Lady, Natalia Alianovna Romanoff," someone breathed, the name inspiring both awe and fear. As the first young woman to be knighted, Natasha was widely known, and her accomplishments on the battlefield were whispered about in saintly tones. The king, who also learned of her presence, widened his eyes.
As she approached the king, Natasha dropped to one knee, a sign of respect and submission. Her armor bore the marks of countless victories, and the sword at her side was a testament to her skill as a warrior.
"Your Majesty," Natasha's voice, a symphony of authority and humility, echoed through the arena. "I am Natalia Alianovna Romanoff, sworn to protect those deemed worthy of the Empire's protection. I offer my skills and loyalty to defend your princess, the jewel of Celestria." The king, observing the steely determination in Natasha's eyes, pondered her words. Isn't she too young to be a knight? Presently good..She could form a bond with Y/n. He thought.
The court remained in a collective breathless pause, awaiting the monarch's decision. After a moment's thought, the king nodded, a gesture that echoed through the arena like a decree.
"Lady Natasha Romanoff, rise. You have proven that you are an excellent Fighter. May the realm be witness to your service as my daughter's protector."
The crowd erupted in a mixture of cheers and whispers in appreciation of the gravity of the moment. Natasha rose from her knees and hid her features behind her helmet again. With measured steps, she returned to the ranks of the assembled knights, her presence leaving an indelible impression on the tournament and setting the stage for a new chapter in the kingdom's saga. Since then, the unique bond between the young princess and the fearless knight began to grow. Y/n, a little bundle of joyful energy, zoomed through the flowerbeds. "Tasha, look, I can fly!" she cried, spreading her tiny arms. Natasha, with a smile on her lips, leaned down. "Really? Show me, little whirlwind." And chase her through the field.
"Tasha, why are you so strong?" asked Y/n three years later, while they were playing in the halls. Natasha, with a mischievous smile, replied, "Strength comes not only from muscles, but also from courage and determination, my Princess."
The royal parents, from their thrones, watched the scene with warm smiles. "Look how Natasha is teaching our daughter," said the queen. The king nodded proudly. "A bond strengthened not only by duty, but also by the heart..I could not have chosen anyone better."
In the shelter of the pavilion, Y/n and Natasha talked about the years of shared experiences. "Promise me, Natasha, that you will always be by my side," Natasha, serious yet tender, replied, "As long as I breathe, I will watch over you, Princess."
Over the years, not only did Y/n grow up, but so did the love between her and Natasha. Adventures together, laughter and tears formed a bond that blurred the boundaries between princess and protector.
At the age of 20, Y/n found herself in the midst of an inner turmoil. The years had passed since Natasha had taken up residence as her protector, and a subtle change was creeping into the princess's mind.
In the quiet moments when the sun slowly disappeared behind the palace walls, Y/n discovered a growing urge to seek Natasha's closeness. Every look from the knightess, every gentle touch, seemed to break through an invisible barrier within Y/n.
The glances Natasha cast across the ballroom as they shared in royal festivities carried a deeper meaning. Y/n recognized the warmth in Natasha's eyes, which came not only from her proximity to the king, but betrayed something more intimate. Uncertainty gnawed at Y/n as she thought about these growing feelings. Society, royal expectations, all created a veil that kept her growing affection for Natasha hidden.
The Royal Mother observed the subtle changes in Y/n's behavior, but the secret remained hidden between the lines. Y/n felt her heart beat faster when she faced Natasha, and the soft sighs that escaped her were carried on the winds of fate.
One day, Natasha, bathed in sweat from the rigorous training session, gracefully moved through the courtyard, effortlessly wrestling each knight that dared to cross her path to the ground. As Y/n strolled through the palace, she unexpectedly caught sight of Natasha in action, sans her usual formidable armor.
Mesmerized by the raw power and agility on display, Yn found it challenging to look away. Natasha's every move seemed like a choreographed dance of strength and finesse. It was the first time Y/n had seen her like this, vulnerable yet invincible
Natasha, engrossed in her sparring session, sensed Y/n's eyes on her. Mid-wrestle with one of the knights, she subtly shifted her gaze to meet Y/n's, exhaling almost imperceptibly. In that brief connection, Natasha's intense focus softened, and a ghost of a smile played on her lips, as if she had caught Y/n in the act.
Y/n, startled by Natasha's awareness, quickly averted her gaze, pretending to be absorbed in the palace architecture. The blush on her cheeks, however, betrayed her attempt to conceal the intrigue Natasha's athleticism had sparked.
She continued her training, each movement deliberate and powerful. Y/n, despite her efforts to remain discreet, stole occasional glances, hoping Natasha wouldn't notice..
When a maid approached, unaware of the silent exchange, Y/n stammered, "I-I was just, you know, walking around," as she tried to divert attention from the fact that Natasha had momentarily captured her focus. Natasha, still engaged in her training, shot Y/n a knowing look, her eyes betraying a hint of amusement, silently acknowledging the unspoken connection while respecting Y/n's attempt to keep her feelings concealed.
Several hours passed, and Y/n immersed herself in the demands of royal duties. As she diligently attended to matters within the palace, she couldn't shake the memory of Natasha's training session. Much to her surprise, as she returned to the main hall, there was Natasha, seamlessly transitioning from warrior to protector, resuming her role by Y/n's side.
Their eyes met once again, and this time Natasha's expression spoke volumes. A playful glint in her eyes suggested a shared secret, referencing the earlier stolen glances. Y/n couldn't help but smile in response, a subtle acknowledgment of the connection they had formed.
Weeks later when the moon towered over Celestria, Y/n dared a tentative look into Natasha's eyes. It was as if the universe melded their souls together, and in that moment, Y/n knew it was more than mere reverence for the brave knight. The realization that her heart was following a path of love was like the blossoming of a delicate flower within her. But the world she lived in demanded secrecy - a love that blossomed in the shadow of royal duties.
Another year passed and Y/n's duties to the throne drew ever closer. Her parents now saw her as an adult woman who would later rule the people. However, this could not be done alone and the time had come to find a suitable mate. So they embarked on various journeys to neighboring countries to consider their princes and princesses. A point Y/n is proud to show. With all the fuss she secretly has about Natasha, her eyes opened to another part.
It was a sunny day when the royal family were visiting another kingdom. The family was welcomed with joy. But the festive atmosphere was pervaded by an underlying tension. As Y/n strode through the hall in royal garb, she was swarmed by the polite remarks and advances of the foreign prince. The looks he gave her were full of obvious interest, and the smile on his lips betrayed intentions that went beyond polite courtesies.
Natasha, standing in her imposing armor alongside the royal family, felt a flame of jealousy flare up inside her. Every passionate look, every touched hand, felt like a stab in her chest. In a quiet moment, when the prince engaged Y/n in a private conversation, Natasha could hardly bear the sight. Her hands clenched into fists as she inwardly fought back the burning sting of jealousy.
Finally, the festive gathering broke up and the royal family returned to their chambers. The opulent chambers of Y/n awoke to the pale glow of candles as the evening shrouded the royal estate in an atmosphere of twilight. The prince, wearing a polite facade, had made his intentions clear. But Natasha sensed the unease in the air. When the prince attempted to cross the boundaries of politeness and seek out Y/n in her chambers, Natasha turned cold as ice. Her eyes, normally as impenetrable as the darkness, bore into the young nobleman. Without a word, her gaze spoke volumes, and the prince retreated as if he had entered an invisible barrier.
When Natasha entered Y/n's chamber, the discomfort was reflected on Y/n's face. "Thank you.. I was so uncomfortable, but I didn't mean to be rude," Y/n murmured, her voice low in the intimate atmosphere. Natasha stepped closer, her touch cooler than the night breeze blowing through the open window. "My princess, you never have to compromise for politeness."
In a calculated move that blurred the line between protector and seductress, Natasha lifted Y/n's hand and stroked her fingertips over the delicate skin. "Don't let anyone enter your world if you don't want them to. You deserve respect and so much more."
The darkness of the room seemed to tighten around the two of them as Natasha continued, intensifying her own touch. "And maybe, there is someone..who is willing to go deeper than politeness allows."
The words echoed between the walls as the coolness of the night turned into a dance of desire. Y/n sensed the play of shadows as Natasha, took on the role of seductress. A passionate revelation that in the twilight of her chambers revealed a connection that transcended the duties of the royal hall.
The room lost its dimensions in darkness as Natasha and Y/n were caught in a mesmerizing dance of tension. Y/n's heartbeat quickened as Natasha's words sounded like a breath in the night, a promise that implied more than it stated. "Natasha, I don't know what you mean..." whispered Y/n, her voice caught between curiosity and an underlying desire that lingered in the air. Natasha stepped closer, her gaze like the dark veil of night that hid everything and yet revealed everything. "I speak of desire that goes deeper than any protocol that exists within the walls of a palace."
The atmosphere thickened as Natasha began to loosen Y/n's royal robes with deft fingers. "You can feel it, can't you? This suppressed energy between us. It's time to explore the shadows that lurk in the corners of our connection."
Y/n's breathing quickened as the warmth of Natasha's hands touched her skin. A mixture of fear and desire flickered in her eyes as she embraced the unknown.
"N-Natasha, I... Is this right?" asked Y/n, but her reticence was swallowed up by the darkness.
Natasha replied with a cool smile that betrayed a deep, hidden passion. "Right or wrong, Y/n, does not exist in this world of shadows. There is only what you desire and what you are willing to experience." The air between them was charged as Natasha gently placed her lips on Y/n's. A passionate kiss that burned down the blurred lines between duty and desire. Still, Natasha paused for a moment and looked her princess in the eye, “I notice your looks, your breath when I sneak up on you..you’re begging when I retreat to my chambers..” Natasha pushed the princess onto the bed. The redhead had Y/n's legs wide open. Open for her to devour.
Natasha licked her lips, staring at Y/n's underwear, a hungry look in her mouth. Y/n still felt the slight urge to protest. What is she doing here? What happens if her parents find out about this? Are they allowed-
But all words of resistance melted into a moan in her mouth as Natasha opened her entrance with her tongue. She lay down in front of Y/n, lifting the princess's legs by her thighs onto her shoulders. Natasha's tongue turned her princess's moans into groans and then shouts of ecstasy. After tasting Y/n for long enough, Natasha lifted her head. Her mouth was covered in Y/n's fluid, giving her face a glow that Y/n found simply intoxicating.
"How are you feeling? Can I continue?" Natasha's eyes widened as she saw the sight of her ruler. Spread wide and with her hands clenched in the pillows, "K-Keep going please..” Natasha smiled and climbed up to Y/n to take off her dress and while she undressed Y/n, Natasha kissed Y/n and she tasted herself on her lips. Without breaking the kiss, Natasha inserted two of her fingers into Y/n. In response, the young princess let out a deep moan into Natasha's mouth as she slowly penetrated her. As Natasha alternated between driving her index and middle fingers in and out of Y/n's cavity, Y/n was disturbed by the amount of armor Natasha still had on and set about removing it.
Natasha smirked again as she realized what Y/n's plans were and sat back up, "You could have asked, my highness..." Y/n's eyes were wide as she watched Natasha remove every single piece of metal from her body. Eventually it just tinkled on the floor and Natasha stood before her in a white shirt. She wasted no more time and pounced on the young girl again.
"What do you want me to do, princess?" Natasha now asked, breathing in unison with her aroused ruler. She had already slipped a hand between Y/n's thighs and was leaning on her shorts. Y/n knew what Natasha wanted to hear. "Please.." she begged, "fuck me." Natasha watched Y/n's flushed face. It was so, so lewd. This time, however, Natasha stroked a finger over the edge of her labia and felt how far the wetness had spread.
"You really want it, don't you?" said Natasha with a hint of smugness in her voice. Y/n knew it wasn't to humiliate her, but rather to increase her sense of exposure.
Yes, I really fucking want it, Y/n wanted to say, but managed to hold back. Natasha, however, didn't miss the look on her face before she leaned in and slowly kissed Y/n again. She began to run her fingers up and down the wetness between Y/n's legs, stroking slowly and rhythmically.
Y/n held back any sound that wanted to come out of her mouth, knowing there was more to come. A touch slipped past a certain spot so briefly and lightly that Y/n's body flinched in response. Natasha had to keep her senses together, just a little longer. The stroking and kissing gradually became faster, without either of them noticing against the backdrop of their growing arousal. Natasha's fingers were touching Y/n's clit more and more frequently now, and Y/n couldn't keep up, the tension between her legs growing and her mouth remaining slightly open.
"A-A-hh..." she gasped, and her body arched back more and more. She was crying out now, twisting and turning, her clit at the center of the movement, her hands wrapped around Y/ns, her face pressed into her shoulders, her upper body arched so that her breasts and erect nipples moved against Natasha's body in the same rhythm as the caresses between her thighs. "Nat-..Natasha...!" She cried out. "I'm... ah, I'm..."
Natasha kissed her neck in response and concentrated fully on bringing Y/n to climax. She wanted to hear her princess scream, to feel her thrusting against her body in a frenzy of pleasure. She wanted Y/n to lose all inhibitions and move against her hand like a horny slut. Y/n couldn't take it anymore. Her hips and buttocks began to move against Natasha, thrusting towards her with desire, begging her not to stop. It felt so dirty to cooperate and beg so earnestly, but Y/n didn't care about any of it. Natasha moaned along with Y/n and couldn't hold back either after listening to Y/n feel this way about her.
“Cum for me.”
When Y/n heard Natasha's soft and loving voice moaning like that, she shook with pleasure. Her mind went blank. The room disappeared, the bed vanished. The world consisted only of her body, which contracted and pulsated to release all its pent-up arousal in one go. Y/n didn't know how much time had passed while she trembled and shook and moaned, even though she didn't want to. All she knew was that Natasha had been holding her the whole time and watched every single facial feature of her beloved princess.
Knights honour
Knight Natasha X fem peasant reader
Warnings: swearing. There is a make out scene that I would consider heavy but knowing you smut readers it may be on the lower level. Idk. Natasha pining for a woman she can't have. Natasha pining for a different woman than y/n. Y/n is a bit neive. Shitty Princess
A/n: sorry this has such a late release I originally wrote it at 3 am and then came back realised it was shit and rewrote it. Chapter five of arranged marriage is nearly done just editing it. Now buckle up cos we got some Cinderella shit to get through.
Natasha thoughts
Y/n thoughts
Natasha speech
Y/n speech
Princess speech (not that she matters)
Natasha had been a knight for five years. She'd been training to be a knight for as long as she could remember. Natasha was brought up around the princess. Mainly so Natasha wouldn't hate the princess when she inevitably received the throne. But it was clear that Natasha was born to be a knight. Not because of the training or because that's all she knew. But because she was a natural even as a child.
Natasha's reputation exceeded her. Kingdoms knew of her loyalty and dedication to the now Queen. And none of it was false either. Natasha was a natural with a sword. To the point she trained with both hands just to give herself a challenge. Not that that lasted long. But nevertheless it worked out. No assassin had made it to the queen when Natasha was in the job. To the point where Natasha was assigned to be the princesses personal knight. Though Natasha had suspicions that was always the goal due to the whole childhood spent together bit.
And Natasha loved her job. She loved the sword fights and training. She loved walking the cobbled streets of the palace gardens when the princess went for walks. Though not for the garden. Natasha's feelings for the princess weren't obvious but they were there. They were there when Natasha went out of her way to give the princess flowers every morning. They were there when Natasha used up all her spare time with the princess. Even when she didn't have to.
But when the princess finally introduced her boyfriend Natasha was... Devastated to say the least. She had thought it was obvious that she was interested in the princess. But then again Natasha knew the princess would always have to marry a man. She had hoped... Natasha didn't know what she had hoped. She wasn't in the mood to hope anymore. All Natasha knew was the princess. So when she was out of reach Natasha was.. lost.
Natasha pov
"damn it. I let my emotions get the better of me again. Get a grip Natasha. You knew this was coming. She's a princess. She wouldn't love you."
I silently cursed myself out as i walk along the streets of the town square. Bards played by the fountain. People seeking wares and goods were surrounding me. Just my luck to go for a walk on market day.
"damn it Natasha. You can't even get the dates right. This is why she doesn't love you."
I keep up the self deprecating thoughts. They didn't help but I need to yell at someone and I didn't know anyone other than the princess. And I was not going to yell at royalty. I hold my head up as I glance around the market. It is busy today. Not unusual but not normal either. That's until I spot a crowd around a voice selling breads and pastries.
"what's up over here. There's nothing that exciting about bread. It's literally just wheat."
I think to myself as I walk over. Pushing through the crowd only to stop dead in my tracks. I nearly choke as I see her. She's absolutely gorgeous. A woman in an apron with a messy bun and y/h/c and clear bright y/e/c. I never thought I'd see a woman more beautiful than the princess. But apparently I'm very very wrong. I catch the woman's eyes for a moment and she smiles at me. And gods that smile. If I could I would capture it and put it in a painting for me to see every day. I understand the crowd now.
"get a grip Natasha you can't drool all over the first pretty woman you see just because you got heartbroken."
I snap out of my trance and swiftly move away. Going as far as I can. Eventually I find a hidden alley where I shouldn't be disturbed and I lean against it to catch my breath and comprehend what I saw. She was magnificent. A masterpiece. No painter in the world could capture her beauty in its proper form. Why am I so frazzled by this woman. I don't even know her. I bury my hands in my face. I need a better grip on my emotions if that's how I react to every woman I see now.
Y/n pov
"I wonder why she's in such a hurry? Perhaps she forgot something or is sick.. should I check on her?"
I wonder to myself as I watch the red head flee my stall. She went red in the face and suddenly bolted. Perhaps she is ill. I frown slightly as I watch her go. Was it me? All I did was smile. I turn my attention back to my current customers. I can't linger on a fleeing sick woman. But I feel bad nevertheless.
It's cleared up by my stall. My sister has come to take over.
"I should check in on that woman from before. If she is sick she may need help."
I think to myself as I walk through the crowded market. Things have been busy this year. A good thing but it means we are running out of supplies. Mama will have to find more suppliers. I wander the cobbled streets for a bit. Looking at stalls and sellers. A lot of fake jewellery being sold this year. A ball is coming I'm pretty sure. Open to all.
"how nice of the royal family. It's been a while since I've dressed up."
I think as I pass by another jewellery stall. Eventually I see her. The woman who ran red in the face. She seems ok now. Was it me? I hope not. I walk over and gently tap the woman's shoulder. Waiting for her to turn and face me before speaking.
"hey are you ok? You ran from my stall rather red in the face. I just wanted to check you aren't sick."
I ask the woman calmly. I smile gently at her just in case she gets frightened that I sought her out. I hope I don't come across as a creep.
Natasha pov
I feel a tap on my shoulder suddenly. Not something I'm used to. I turn around and there stands the woman from before. A light smile on her lips and a gentle expression. I think I may die. Especially as she speaks. Her voice is as sweet as honey and as smooth as the finest silks.
"oh you've gone red again. Are you ok!?"
The woman asks yet again as she steps back. Grabbing a handkerchief and handing it to me. I pause realising I must have blushed. Then again who wouldn't. I can see men staring at her. Yet the woman either doesn't notice or doesn't care. I pause before hesitantly responding.
"it's ok. I go red in the face sometimes. It's... A medical condition. Nothing is wrong."
I respond carefully. The woman doesn't seem to know what blush is. Then again she doesn't seem to know a lot of things. Or she's just concerned. I can see a bit of relief on the woman's face as I reassure her. I feel a bit bad for lying but seeing the woman less worried makes me feel better.
"well that's a relief. I thought it was me or something."
The woman chuckles. And once again I'm gobsmacked. If I thought her smile was beautiful her laugh is heavenly. If I could I would bottle up the sound and get drunk on it every damn night. Then the woman smiles again and turns to leave. I don't want her to. I want her to stay and talk to me. But I have no reason to want this.
"wait. There's a ball upcoming for everyone. Go with me?"
Perhaps it was pure determination to see her again or pure stupidity that made me ask the woman this question. Fuck I don't even know her name. I don't care. I have - no need to see this woman again. She turns to me and tilts her head in a curious manner. I may swoon right here and now. She then smiles with a glint in her eyes and now I am swooning.
"sure. I'm y/n. I'll be near the food court."
The woman responds. Not even asking my name before she leaves. Vanishing into the crowd. Y/m was her name.
"I will hold the name close and dear to me. Even if this goes nowhere."
I think to myself. I turn and return to the castle. I have plans to make and a princess to guard. Realising this now I have come to the conclusion that for the first time in my life I wasn't thinking about the princess. But instead this mystery woman.
The night of the ball
Y/n pov
I stand near the food court eating whatever I can. None of it tastes as good as the stuff mama makes. But then again I have an acquired taste for her food.
"this is good. People everywhere, rich and poor. The royals are up in their pedestals as per normal. An enjoyable evening indeed."
I think to myself as I survey my surroundings. Though I am missing my partner. That woman from the market. Who I now know is Natasha romanoff. The princesses personal guard. Who knew she of all people would ask me out. Not that I'm not pretty. I am. I can tell by all the heads I turn as I walk through the streets. And then I see her. She's in a tux. A good one too. I can see her glancing around for me. And our eyes meet.
"hmm she finally spotted me. Took her a minute. I said I'd be by the food court."
I muse to myself as Natasha approaches. I smile as Natasha comes over. Her own smile is small but present. I never knew she could smile. It's... Nice. Suddenly I feel my own face pull Natasha's condition.
"you found me."
I tease gently. Munching on a quiche. These are brilliant. Still not as good as Mama's though. I'm still biased.
"the food court's placing was moved last minute."
Natasha responds. Gently leaning over me to grab an apple tart. But I don't focus on that. I'm focused on how this is a clear ploy to make me attracted to her. And be damned if it isn't working.
"oh? You work here to know?"
I ask. Still playing the innocent woman from the street. But Natasha just grins. If I wasn't attracted to her before I am now. Fuck is she hot.
"don't play dumb miss y/n. I know you're faking. I asked about you around the streets. Caught a few of your friends."
Natasha responds. Standing beside me. She's so close. I can feel her body heat. It's nice. Especially since I wore this stupidly cold dress. It looks thick but it's not.
"stalker."
I tease back rolling my eyes. I lean against Natasha. I can feel her stiffen before she relaxes and slips a hand around my waist. This feels nice.
"it's not stalking. It's.. doing a background check. I'm a knight. It's mandatory to know if who I'm seeing is trustworthy."
Natasha responds. I roll my eyes. Smiling as I look up at Natasha. She's about a foot taller than me. Yet she's the same age as me. Curious. Not that I care or it matters.
"don't be defensive I'm kidding."
I respond with a laugh. I glance at the dancers on the ball room floor. I am always jealous of how people can move like water. As if they don't truly belong on this plane and simply walk through it like mist.
Natasha pov
I can see y/n eyeing the dance floor. I pause before taking her hand and stepping out before her. Smiling sincerely this time. I bow before her and kiss y/n's knuckles.
"may I have this dance?"
I ask raising an eyebrow. I can see y/n mirroring the look and then huffing as she realises what I did. She chuckles and nods. I stand up and grasp her waist. Taking y/n out into the ball room floor to dance with the others.
As if I couldn't get more attracted to this woman she does this. Y/n is like a damn natural dancer. Moving smoother than some professionals I've seen at plays. I smile as I hold y/n. How on earth I managed to snag her I don't know. But I'm grateful. I am certainly spending more time with y/n.
I eventually glance up at the princess as the royal dance begins and the woman I crushed over for years steps into her boyfriend's arms. Yet I'm not mad or upset. My heart isn't aching. And as I glance back at y/n who is also watching the princess I realise I don't need the princess. Not when I already have one in my arms. I turn back to the royal dance. But as it goes on I realise the princess is staring at me. Me and y/n. She looks mad almost. Y/n frowns slightly.
"is she watching us?"
Y/n asks gently. Pulling herself into me. I frown slightly but nod slowly. This isn't normal. The princess never spared me a second glance like I did. Why is she upset about me with another woman.
"it seems like she is."
I respond under my breath. I hold y/n just a bit tighter until the dance finishes and me and y/n can continue our own dance
It's only a few moments later that I feel a tug on my arm and y/n tense up. I balance behind me and there is a furious princess. I frown and step away.
"I'll be back in a second y/n"
I speak to the woman I was just dancing with gently. The princess then silently grabs me and yanks me to the edge of the ball. She seems so angry.
"why is she so pissed. I did nothing wrong. Doesn't she have her own boyfriend to deal with?"
I think to myself as we both finally stop walking. I glance down at the princess about to speak before she interrupts me
"what are you doing dancing with some peasant!"
The princess snaps at me. I'm taken aback. Why would the princess be upset by that. She's never looked down on her subjects before. I step away from her.
"hey calm down. She's just my partner to the ball. There's nothing else."
I respond. Lying through my teeth. I definitely feel more. But I won't tell the princess that considering how much she seems to be upset at the prospect of me knowing any one other than her.
"does that matter! You shouldn't be with her at all! You're meant to love me!"
The princess snaps back again. I freeze. I'm... Meant to love her!? What cruel trick is this. Did the princess just want me to love her so she could have someone longing for her endlessly!?
"I'm sorry what!?"
I scowl stepping forward. I can't harm the princess. But gods do I want to. She can't make me love her. And right now I don't feel any love for the princess. And she knows it by the way her face has dropped and she's sputtering.
"forget it. Leave me alone."
I speak coldly as I return to y/n. Ignoring the small wait I hear the princess call out after me. I won't wait for someone who toyed with my emotions for years. Y/n seems concerned when I return but she doesn't ask questions which I'm grateful for. We continue our dance. The princess returns bitterly to her boyfriend and the night continues.
Y/n pov
It's been an hour since the dance. Natasha hasn't been in the best mood since the whole deal with the princess. And I honestly don't blame her. I don't know what happened but Natasha seems hurt.
"do you wanna talk about it?"
I ask gently as me and Natasha walk through the woods out the back of the castle. Natasha tenses but sighs and runs a hand through her fiery red locks. I want to do the same but now is not the time.
"she was toying with me for years. I crushed on her and she knew.. but just let me. Didn't tell me she was straight. Just let me believe I had a chance. Then she got a boyfriend and I was upset but still in love.. but now I found you and I'm moving in she's upset. She wanted me to keep longing for her so she could feel wanted."
Natasha speaks bitterly. I can understand why she's upset. No woman deserves to have her emotions played. And the princess did Natasha dirty. Trying to deny her happiness.
"she sounds entitled and a bit like an ass."
I respond smiling gently. Natasha cracks a small smile at that. A small one but it falls quickly. She sighs again. I should start counting how many times she does that.
"two sighs thus far."
"she is an entitled ass. I just didn't see it because I was blind."
Natasha responds. She looks away and I take her chin and make Natasha look at me. We have only known each other for a fleeting moment at the market. A small conversation after the market and this ball. I feel like Cinderella all of a sudden. But I get on my tip toes and I kiss Natasha.
Natasha is shocked at first. But she melts quickly and gods this is the best kiss I've ever had. Natasha bites my bottom lip demanding entrance and I give it immediately. Her tongue invades my mouth and before I know it I'm against a tree as Natasha fights against my corset. Her mouth attached to mine.
Natasha pov
I help y/n redress gently. Her hair is a mess. I love it. Her hand is in my own hair. I don't understand her fascination with it but I don't mind. I gently begin helping y/n out the woods and back towards the castle so we can catch a carriage back to the village. I'll take y/n home before going back to the palace.
"you signed sixteen times."
Y/n says softly. She's drowsy. So am I to be fair. We both need to bathe and be proper but the woods aren't a good place to do that.
"what?"
I respond chuckling slightly. Raising an eyebrow as I watch y/n lean against me. My arm around her waist. Her hand in my other.
"I decided to count how many times you sighed. And you sighed sixteen times."
Y/n responds smiling at me. I think I may like y/ns tired smile more than her normal one. She's too perfect It's insane.
"I would ask why but I think we are both too tired to question things."
I shoot back. Helping y/n into a carriage. I follow. Letting y/n pretty much fall asleep on-top of me. I smile as I watch her. Y/n drowsily gives the driver directions before promptly falling asleep. I smile and thread my fingers through her hair.
The ride is swift. Y/n lives almost in the heart of the town. Her home is attached to a bakery. I carry y/n inside since she's still mostly asleep. Her sister is dead asleep on the couch. I assume she tried to stay awake to greet y/n but oh well. We had fun at least. I take y/n down to the bathroom and run a warm bath. Undressing y/n as she groggily wakes and tries to help. I stop her and finish the job myself. Slipping y/n's body into the water. I undressing myself and slipping in with her.
After the bath I get us both out and dressed in fresh clothes. Best hope y/n's sister isn't too attached to her cotton button up and pants. I lay y/n on what I assume is her bed. Its the only vacant one and it had her clothes in the basket nearby. I'm about to leave myself before y/n grabs my arm.
"stay... Please.."
She mumbles. I crumble immediately and slip into bed with her. Y/n crawls over and into my arms. I wrap my arms around her and just hold y/n. Tonight has been the best I could've imagined. Other than the hiccup with the princess but y/n made up even more for that.
After that Natasha went to the queen and got herself reassigned to the army. Rising swiftly to general. Much to the princesses dismay. Not that Natasha cared. It wasn't her concern for the princess anymore. Natasha was fine with that. And her new position led to many benefits. Including a better horse. And a better more free schedule. One Natasha enjoyed greatly. For more reasons than one.
Natasha began properly courting y/n aswell. Causing the bakery to blow up because the general was often behind the counter watching her girlfriend covered in flour do her job. And she got free pastries and bread so a win win for Natasha. She got to watch her hot gf and got free food.
The end
The Feral Princess - Part 4
Marvel AU
Pairing: Stucky x Reader
Theme: Soulmate AU / Medieval / Fantasy / Soulmate Marks
Summary: Bucky and Steve have known they were soulmates since they were children. Fate bringing a then sickly Steve and the future King together. War takes them apart and throws them back together over and over, in and out of each other lives, arms and beds. But something is missing and throughout, they know they are missing their third and final piece. The kingdom is now Bucky's and Steve's, the latter now a leader and no longer a sickly child. Both are war heroes, with the respect of their country and those that surround it. They are a force to be reconned with, admired and respected within the other royal houses. They could have any maiden or princess they wanted, but they don't want just anyone. They want their soulmate. They want their princess. Even if she is known as The Feral Princess.
Chapter Summary: Bucky starts his journey to fetch the reader.
By the time Bucky arrives at Lionheart you are long gone. Word has spread as to why he’s there and the villagers are in the know.
“She’s long gone!”
“Good luck taming our Tulip.”
“You won’t find your princess here your majesty.”
Bucky wonders if it’s a ploy. If they’re simply saying that and you’re hidden somewhere in the castle. He knows in his heart though that you aren’t. Thinking back to the day he met Steve, he had felt his mark get warmer and warmer until he had found him, squaring up to a bully twice his size, Bucky’s mark burning on his ankle. He wonders then if you’ll have the same temperament. From what he’s heard, you’re probably even more of a handful than Steve. He sighs at the thought. Steve would fight a bully. You would apparently stab them without a second thought.
When he arrives at the first set of gates he finds them heavily armoured, much more so than when he had visited as a child. His horse, usually obedient and sturdy rears up and becomes unsettled. As do those of his travelling companions. Natasha rides forward from their group and stands to his right. She goes to speak but Bucky is quick to stop her.
“Do not ask me again if I am sure Natalia.”
Natasha’s mouth snapped closed. Bucky moved his horse to allow him to knock on the heavy gates, glancing up at the guards of the tower who is clearly ignoring their presence. Before he has chance to knock both the gates begin to open, startling them all.
Bucky leads them through into the Barbican. He discovers it now has another set of gates at the end. Again they are heavily armoured and closed. The gates behind slam shut when the last of Bucky’s knights enters, causing the horses to startle and for them to be plunged into darkness.
The group were experienced, hardy fighters, and it doesn’t take them long to get their horses under control. Each held their reins tightly with one hand, with the other gripping their weapon of choice.
A fizzling sound is heard as the fire torches alight one by one. When the room is lit Bucky notices a hunched over and hooded figure in the corner. Their head is dipped, the hood and shadows making it hard to see their face. The voice that comes from it is deep but well spoken, and a little familiar.
“Purpose of your visit.”
“I come to fetch my soulmate, future wife and queen.”
He can’t be certain but he’s sure the figure is smirking.
“This way," The figure replies, a hint of amusement in its voice.
The second gates begin to open and daylight streams through. Bucky blinks to help his eyes adjust. He hears Natasha muttering something in their old tongue and he quickly sees why. In the courtyard are lines and lines of soldiers and knights in Lionheart colours. Every single one is almost the same build as Bucky, they are all battle ready and armed to the teeth. There’s a least a couple of hundred and Bucky knows from battle and rumour there are more somewhere.
It’s eerily quiet as the hooded figure leads them through the courtyard. None of the soldiers or knights move or glance at them. Bucky wonders if some are holding their breath due to the lack of movement.
“You wait here.” The figure says gesturing at Natasha and the others knights, leaving them standing between the lines of Lionheart’s finest. “You, your majesty, this way.”
Bucky unmounts his horse and passes the reins to Natasha. He glances up the castle walls and sees the lines of archers along the top, each pointing arrows towards them.
He knows he’s never going to hear the last of this from Natasha.
Bucky follows the figure through the stables, past one of its many armouries and through what seems to be the royal boot room. There are riding boots, cloaks and swords of all sizes and he quickly spots a cloak in Loxley green. A spare of yours perhaps?
The figure comes to a stop at a door and pushes it open as it steps inside. Bucky follows.
The first thing he notices is how warm it is, the large open fire roaring and filling the room. In front of it is an ornately carved wooden chair and desk. The banner of Lionheart hanging above the fire indicating the room is Richard’s.
“Take off your cloak James and make yourself at home.”
The voice was deep and firm. Richard. Bucky turned abruptly expecting to see that the other king had entered the room behind him but finding only the figure from before. Bucky went to speak but stopped as the figure rose from its hunched over stance and grew in size. It turned away as it untied the cloak, pulling it off and hanging it on a hook on the wall. Bucky recognised the figure, now man, instantly.
Easily over six feet, broad shoulders and a strawberry blonde beard scattered face, hair that met his shoulders but lighter than his beard. Hair that gave likening to a lion.
Richard of Lionheart.
“So, I hear you want our Tulip.”
Meanwhile deep in the forest 100 miles from Loxley.......
"How many times will we be moving? Lionheart, Loxley, now here. Should I unpack or not bother? " Lady Dawn asked, sarcasm filling her tone.
"We have to be one step ahead and I did say you didn't need to come." You quipped back.
"And miss you in a white dress and a veil? Never."
You and Lady Darcy snorted with laughter. Little John approached, having recently joined your travels at your Uncle Robin's request. He cleared his throat to announce himself.
"The traps are set Tulip."
"Thank you John."
"Out of interest, and for plans sake Princess, should I send the men on to scout another location?" John asked enquiringly.
"No John, this will be our last spot. Let him come. Let him find me."
Fancy a cuppa? My Ko-Fi.
Promise
Pairing(s): Knight!Natasha Romanoff x Princess!Reader
Summary: The first time you patch up an injured Natasha.
Word Count: 1.8k
Warnings: Descriptions of wounds | Terribly written medical talk | Mentions of violence and knives
Authors Note: This is another mini-oneshot to my fic “Soulmates”. I’d recommend reading that one before this for context to be able to grasp the storyline!
Mini-oneshots: Forever
(Takes place around 17 years old)
You entered the castle with your mother at your side. You had just finished sitting in on a meeting that your parents had attended with some of neighboring kingdoms.
With you finally becoming of age to understand at least the majority of what they were discussing, your mother and father wanted you to get some first hand experience at helping to make important decisions.
As you talked you rounded the corner to the hallway that held the library where you'd planned to get in some studying, but the words coming out of your mother's mouth had faded to the back of your mind once you saw Yelena rushing towards you.
She looked frantic, but you noticed how she toned it down to a more presentable manner after laying eyes on the Queen beside you.
Your eyebrows furrowed seeing her approach you as though she were on a mission, and your mother had now stopped talking realizing that you were no longer paying attention.
"Hey, Yelena. Is everything okay?" you greeted the blonde.
Yelena looked between the two of you before answering, "Yeah. Yeah, I just needed you for...something...real quick."
Your mother cleared her throat to get your attention, "I'm going to go find your father. Don't forget to look over the information from today, okay honey?"
"Of course." you nodded your head in understanding, "I'll see you later." you said before she excused herself.
You turned back to the blonde with a now more concerned look, "What's going on? What's wrong?" you asked.
She almost struggled to find an answer before responding, "I think it's better for you to just see for yourself..." Yelena trailed off as she grabbed your wrist into her hand and led you through the hallways.
The two of you ended up in front of your bedroom door which confused you even more as she pulled you inside and quickly shut the door behind you, but your heart dropped at the sight in front of you when you turned around.
Natasha was sat on your bed looking as if she'd just been in a fight.
A bad one at that.
Her face was scuffed with dirt, her knuckles were bloodied and bruised, but that wasn't even the worst of it. The worst part was the area on her shoulder that her hand was clutching to stop it from bleeding, but you could see it clearly wasn't doing a very good job.
"I tried to take her to the infirmary, but she wouldn't go. She told me to bring her to you, but one of the maids said that you weren't here so I had to go find you." Yelena explained.
"Oh my god, Nat. What happened?" you asked as you rushed to your girlfriend’s side.
Your eyes zeroed in on the open wound on her shoulder. Her breath hitched when you moved her hand out of the way to get a better look. You muttered an apology before putting her hand back and quickly grabbing a hand towel from your closet.
"You should see the other guys." the redhead chuckled but her smile was replaced with a wince when you moved her hand again to use the towel to apply pressure instead.
Natasha knew you didn't find her joke very funny based on the glare you sent her way.
"She got into a fight with some thieves down at the docks. I told her it wasn't a good idea, but she wouldn't listen and now here we are." Yelena said.
This time it was Natasha's turn to glare at her sister for ratting her out, but Yelena didn't pay any mind to the look she was given.
"Jesus christ," you mumbled. "And you decided you wanted to bleed out on my bed right now instead of in the infirmary with a doctor because?"
The redhead winced again when you shifted to be able to inspect the rest of her body for any other injuries, "I thought you would be able to treat it. Didn't your parents make you take first aid lessons from the doctor a few years ago? You know, for your studies?"
"Yes, but the doctor at the infirmary is a professional." you counteracted. "They would do a much better job than I would at making sure this doesn't get infected."
"Please, Y/n." Natasha said, "I could get in so much trouble if my commander found out I was getting into fights before I even finished my training."
You sighed as you thought for a moment. She's obviously set on not going to the doctor, and you have to do something soon to stop it from getting worse so you really had no choice.
As you stood up from the bed the knights eyes followed you, "Take your top off and keep putting pressure on this." you told her before making your way to your bathroom.
Yelena took this as her cue to leave, "I'm gonna go now. I'll come back to check on you in a bit." she said and Natasha nodded, watching her slip through the door and shut it behind her.
After a little struggle the redhead managed to eventually pull her shirt over her head, leaving her in a tank top.
When you returned a moment later you had a clean towel and a first aid kit in hand. You sat back down next to her and removed the dirty towel to begin cleaning her wound.
It wasn’t as bad as it had looked before when you finally got the bleeding to stop. Either way seeing her like this scared you more than you’d let on.
You worked in silence for a while. The only sounds filling the room being the occasional winces and grunts from Natasha when the pain hurts a little more. Each time you mumbled a quick "sorry" before continuing.
"Are you mad at me?" Natasha spoke into the quiet air.
You didn't answer right away which just worried her even more, but when you did it wasn't the answer she was expecting.
"No," you responded, "I'm not mad at you. You just scared me, I mean what were you even thinking?"
“I don’t know,” the redhead said, “I don’t even know if I was thinking. I just…reacted.”
Natasha watched your concentrated face. Sometimes she couldn't help but just stare at it. At this point she had every detail of it memorized like the back of her hand. Which wasn't very helpful when she was currently being scolded by you.
"Did you even have any of your equipment when you decided to pick a fight with them?" you asked.
The young knight shook her head, "No, but I couldn't just watch it happen. There were four of them and one of them had a knife. I had to do something or else people might’ve gotten hurt.”
“People did get hurt, Natasha. You got hurt.”
Natasha hung her head in defeat at your words. “I know.” she said. “I know and I’m sorry for putting you through this. You shouldn’t have to deal with the consequences of my actions. It’s not fair to you.”
You sighed and put down the supplies you were using so you could finally look at her. She held a guilty expression and it made you feel bad for getting upset with her. Your hand came up to her face in an attempt to wipe away some of the dirt with your thumb and fix her messy hair.
“Nat, I get that you just wanted to do the right thing. That’s one of the things I love most about you.” you spoke softly and she gave you a small smile, “I just worry so much. This could’ve been so much worse than some bruises and a knife wound.”
“I got lucky, I know.” she admitted. “Yelena was right I should’ve listened to her and it was stupid of me not to.”
Your gaze went back and forth between both of her eyes. You could’ve gotten lost in her vibrant green orbs if you didn’t still have to finish patching her up before someone came looking for you.
“Just promise me that you’ll be more careful going forward. I don’t want this to ever happen again because I love you too much to be able to handle it if it did.”
Natasha quickly nodded her head, “I promise, and I love you too.”
You leaned in to connect your lips in a soft kiss, needing a reminder that she was here with you and safe.
The redhead obviously didn’t want you to pull away with the way she chased after your lips when you pulled back. You had to press your hand against her chest in order to keep a distance between the two of you.
“As much as I would love to keep going, I think you might need a few stitches to help that shoulder heal.” you said.
Natasha just groaned. She wasn’t even sure if the dissatisfaction she felt was because she had to go through the pain of getting stitches, or because you broke the kiss. The redhead came to the conclusion that it was because of both.
The noise made you giggle and you began sifting through the first aid kit for a needle and some thread. “I’ve only ever practiced this using fruits, so bear with me. I still think you should’ve gone to the doctor instead.”
She just shrugged her uninjured shoulder, “Why would I when I have my own personal nurse right here. And she’s cute too.” Natasha smirked.
You playfully rolled your eyes at that last comment, “Don’t get too ahead of yourself there. I still have to take a look at those knuckles and clean your face up.”
“What? I thought you liked my face.” she pouted.
“You know I do, but I don’t like the fact that it looks as if someone just dragged you through the dirt.”
Natasha scoffed, “For the record, I won, of course. They were after that bakery you love by the boats. The owner said that my next order would be on the house as a thanks for my help, so I think you should be thanking me.” she spoke proudly.
You just stared at your girlfriend in disbelief. As much as you didn’t understand how she was able to laugh and joke about the situation, you appreciated it because it took your mind off of the bad thoughts that clouded your mind.
It reminded you that your Natasha was still there and you couldn’t be more grateful for her.
“Instead of thinking about that you should be figuring out how you’re going to hide this from your parents when they come back from their trip.”
The carriage leaves the castle gates, carrying the two noblewomen inside.
“I don’t understand why I can’t be outside with the other knights,” Kate pouts as she looks out the window at the guards riding their horses beside the carriage.
Her dog mirrors her position, resting its head sadly against the opening of the window.
Flipping to the next page of the book Queen Melina gave you earlier today after your meeting with her, you respond without looking up at her.
“Because, Kate, even though you chose to become a knight, at the moment, you are still the daughter of a noble family."
You finally glance up at her with a pointed look as you continue your explanation.
"That means you still need to have some form of protection until then.”
Kate groans in disappointment as she slumps back on the seat across from you, crossing her arms as she sulks.
After numerous pleas and persistent requests to her mother about her desire to join the Royal Guard, she finally gained permission to begin her training, though under a lot of conditions and restrictions.
Quickly bored with her sulking, Kate glances at the book in your lap curiously before asking.
“Chronicles of the Red Room? Why are you reading about that?”
With a nonchalant shrug, you reply casually, “I just wanted to learn more about my family’s involvement in the war.”
The book in question recounts personal stories from the previous war between the Romanov Kingdom and the Stark Kingdom.
More precisely, it focuses on a place known as the Red Room, which was apparently under the control of your family's house during the war.
According to your findings so far, this place was mainly used for interrogating captured enemies, and it appears that during the war, the Dreykov House gained considerable recognition for its effectiveness in infiltrating enemy ranks and securing strategic advantages for the kingdom through the Red Room.
The queen graciously provided you with some books on the subject when you inquired about it.
Kate hums in casual interest before commenting curiously.
“Wasn’t your old governess also a general during the war? What was her name again…?”
Kate snaps her fingers when she remembers.
“Madam B!”
Your hand pauses mid-flip at the name, but Kate doesn’t notice your sudden discomfort as she continues.
"She's always been by your side since you were young, but I haven't seen her around for a while now. Where did she disappear to anyway?"
You compose yourself quickly when Kate looks at you, giving her a faint smile before replying, “I believe she moved to the countryside.”
Kate nods in acknowledgment, accepting your words.
As you're about to return your focus to the book, Kate's next words cause you to tense once again.
“It's odd that she decided to leave you now. You'd think she'd want to stay close, considering what happened."
Kate looks at you cautiously, knowing how sensitive the subject of the incident is for you.
You sigh internally at her words.
Despite her cheerful and carefree demeanor, you sometimes forget how observant Kate can be about certain matters.
“Madam B has been a part of my family's employment for many years. It was just simply time for her to get what she deserved,” you explain vaguely.
Noticing Kate nervously biting her lips—a telltale sign of her uncertainty—you anticipate there's something else she wants to say.
Eventually, she gives in with a sad expression.
“That wasn’t the only thing that changed.”
Letting out a deep sigh, you're already aware of what she's referring to.
“I already told you, Kate,” you reassure her gently. “Just because we don’t spend all of our time together anymore doesn’t mean Natasha and I are not still friends.”
Shrugging your shoulders, you return your attention to your book, commenting, "We just…each have our own responsibilities now.”
Kate sighs sadly, slumping back into her seat, “I know, but it just doesn't feel the same. We miss having you with us like before, especially Natasha.”
Choosing not to reply, you pretend to concentrate on your book, ignoring the tightness in your chest at her words.
The truth is — you miss Natasha too.
~~~~~~~ ⧗ ~~~~~~~
The carriage stops at the entrance of your family’s manor.
Your gatekeeper, Pietro Maximoff, waves at you as you enter. When he opens the carriage door for you, you see your lady-in-waiting, Wanda Maximoff, rushing down the front steps.
“Welcome back, Lady Y/n.”
The twins stand side by side when they greet you.
You give them a warm smile and nod at them graciously.
As orphans from the remnants of the war, Wanda and Pietro were brought into your family’s house by some of the staff members.
Due to their young age when they joined your household, the three of you practically grew up together.
As a result, you genuinely see them more like siblings than anything else, and they reciprocate the same sentiment.
However, in the presence of those outside the manor, they still try to maintain a respectful attitude toward you.
“Thank you,” you say before gesturing to the back of the carriage. “Pietro, can you help bring in the box?”
He nods at your request, moving to reach for the item.
When you’re about to go up the stairs, Wanda places a gentle hand on your arm, stopping your movement.
Her face holds a tense smile as she speaks.
“Your father has come home early from his meeting,” she states in a casual tone. Though, her eyes dart behind you with a meaningful glance.
The news causes you to freeze, your eyes slightly widening. Swiftly, you turn around and intercept Kate's path, stopping her in her tracks.
She tilts her head at you curiously in confusion.
You offer her a reassuring smile, dispelling all the tense emotions that had crossed your face just moments ago.
“I think I’m just going to rest early today, Kate. It's probably best if you head home," you suggest.
Kate begins to examine you carefully, her expression turning worried.
“Are you okay? Do you feel sick?”
You shake your head, turning her around and lightly directing her back to the carriage before responding.
“I’m fine, just a little tired from reading during the ride.”
Kate casts a skeptical glance your way as she ushers Lucky back into the carriage.
“Okay…,” she says, her voice trailing off. She bites her lip again with uncertainty, remembering something. Then with a deep breath, she speaks again.
“Yelena and I plan to have a picnic at the usual spot by the lake tomorrow,” Kate hesitates briefly before continuing. “Natasha will be there too. I could come in the morning, and we can go together if you’d like?” she proposes with a hopeful tone.
You give her an apologetic look and shake your head, denying her offer.
“I can't, Kate. I have a meeting with Lady Maria tomorrow.”
Kate acknowledges your response with a disappointed nod, retreating back into the carriage with a sad goodbye.
You wave as the carriage disappears through the gates. Once you're certain she's out of sight, you hurry up the front stairs and make your way into your family’s manor.
Wanda and Pietro fall in step beside you. Together, the three of you move swiftly along the hallways, taking a less direct route to your room within the manor.
“Where is he now?” you ask, turning slightly to Wanda.
“He was in his study before you arrived,” she replies.
You glance at the box in Pietro’s hand, which contains other books that the queen gave you today. These books concern subjects that you don't want your father to know you are researching.
“Can you keep that in your quarters for now?”
“Of course,” Pietro replies, nodding without hesitation.
You turn the corner toward the staircase that leads to your floor.
“What do you think you are doing?”
The booming voice from above causes you to freeze, and you look up to see your father, Lord Dreykov, standing at the top of the staircase. His gaze is fixed on the three of you, examining you critically before shifting his eyes to the person behind you.
He points at Pietro, ordering, “You, take that box to my study.”
Pietro doesn’t move at the command. Instead, he turns his attention to look at you for direction.
Dreykov watches the interaction with narrow eyes, and a flicker of irritation crosses his face. He descends the steps slowly, clasping his hands behind his back.
You hold your breath nervously when he stops in front of you, your eyes watching him cautiously.
The sound of a sharp, echoing slap rings out in the room, and your head snaps to the side from the impact of the hit.
As you instinctively bring your hand to your cheek in shock, you cry out in pain when he harshly grabs your wrist and pushes you forcefully to your knees.
You hear some movement from behind you. Glancing back, Wanda and Pietro both have shocked and concerned looks as they step towards you.
“Don’t move,” Dreykov commands threateningly.
Your father twists your wrist in a painful direction, causing you to cry out in pain again.
In response, Wanda and Pietro come to an abrupt stop, freezing in their tracks.
Dreykov chuckles darkly at them.
“So, the two of you can follow orders after all.”
He observes your two obviously loyal attendants, seeing a mix of restrained anger and concern etched across their faces. Annoyance tinges his expression as he clicks his tongue in irritation.
“It seems that in my absence from the manor, some of the staff have forgotten who’s the one in control here.”
He turns to Pietro threateningly, his hand still holding your wrist in a deathly grip.
“Am I going to have to repeat myself?”
Pietro clenches his teeth in anger, his gaze shifting between you and your father’s vice-like grip on your wrist. With a reluctant bow, he hurries away toward the study with the box in tow.
When Pietro disappears around the corner, your father finally lets go of your wrist.
You swiftly pull your hand back, cradling it protectively against your chest.
Immediately, you sense Wanda’s presence behind you. Her hands grasp your arms, pulling you up and drawing you closer to her, creating a safe distance from your father.
Dreykov sneers at you, turning to leave.
“Don’t ever disrespect me like that again, daughter,” he warns, his tone threatening.
~~~~~~~ ⧗ ~~~~~~~
“The nerve of that man!” Wanda fumes as she holds your injured wrist in her lap.
You could see the purplish discoloration on your skin, indicating that a bruise was already forming.
“He’s absent for most of your life. Now, suddenly, he decides to stay and terrorize you and everyone else in the manor!”
Though her words are angry, Wanda is gentle as she applies the medical salves on your wrist.
She's also not wrong about your father. Throughout your childhood, he was rarely at home, always away on trips and meetings to other kingdoms.
Honestly, any memories of moments when he was actually at the manor are hazy to you.
For some reason, he has chosen to stay in the kingdom for a full year now. His return happened shortly after the incident that unfolded on Natasha's birthday.
However, it's hard to believe that his presence is solely driven by concern for you.
Wanda continues, “Not to mention those creepy guards of his that hide in the shadows.”
You wince when she begins to wrap the bandages around a tender area.
“Which is why you should lower your voice, Wanda,” you warn her.
A familiar knocking pattern sounds at the door before Wanda can respond.
Knowing who it is, she calls out, “Come in!”
Pietro slips inside quickly, his gaze immediately focused on your wrist in concern.
“How is she?”
You respond before Wanda can continue her rant.
“I’m fine. Both of you calm down.”
Wanda huffs at you, crossing her arms, before noticing Pietro’s slightly disheveled hair and asking, “What took you so long anyway?”
Pietro's expression shifts into his usual mischievous grin as he pulls out the bundle of books from behind his back.
You recognize them as the ones the queen had given to you from the box.
“I ran to the library and switched these out with some of your geography books,” he explains proudly.
“Pietro!” you chastise before reprimanding him with a sigh. “Thank you, but please don’t do something that risky again. Who knows what my father would do if he caught you.”
Noticing Wanda and Pietro communicating silently to each other with their eyes, you ask them knowingly.
“What is it?”
Wanda's gaze turns sad and uncertain as she speaks, “We can’t really help you much given our position, but maybe if you tell Princess Natasha…”
Wanda gives you a knowing look before confidently stating, "She wouldn’t let this happen to you."
Sighing tiredly at the repeated reminder of the princess’ absence from your life, you adjust your sleeve to conceal the bandages as you explain.
“Her coronation is in a couple of months. I’m not going to burden Natasha with problems of a single noble family when she’s going to have to worry about an entire kingdom soon.”
The twins give you sympathetic looks, already aware of the real reasons for your reluctance to involve the princess.
With a sigh, you remind yourself of the decision that you made after that incident last year.
It was the best option.
The further you stay away from Natasha, the safer she will be.
~~~~~~~ ⧗ ~~~~~~~
The following afternoon, accompanied by Wanda, you go to meet Lady Maria Hill at her manor.
The purpose of the meeting was to see the compatibility between the two of you.
In other words, it was sort of like a first date.
The Hill family is renowned for their significant contributions to the kingdom's military. A majority of their family members hold distinctions as decorated soldiers or knights in the kingdom.
In fact, her cousin is the Captain of the Royal Guard at the castle.
Even now, Maria wears her commander uniform while she sits across from you. Her posture remains perfect and attentive as she places her cup down on the table before addressing you.
“To be honest, Lady Y/n, I was surprised that you still wanted to meet with me today, given the recent news.”
Confused, you glance at Wanda in question, wondering if she knew what Maria was referring to. She shakes her head and shrugs her shoulders in response.
With a polite smile, you return your attention to Maria.
“I’m afraid we haven’t heard any news,” you tell her.
“Well, it’s more like a rumor, just something Steve heard amongst the castle workers,” Maria comments casually before leaning forward slightly as if whispering a secret.
“Apparently, Princess Natasha disclosed last night that she’s in a secret relationship.”
You ignore the new uncomfortable feeling in your chest at the fact that there was something concerning Natasha that you weren’t aware of.
You manage to conceal the surprise and discomfort on your face as your hands cradle the cup in front of you, its warmth offering you little comfort.
“Oh? And did she mention who it is?” you ask, curious to learn more.
“That’s what makes this meeting so strange,” Maria pauses before nodding at you.
“She said that she was in a relationship with you, Lady Y/n.”

Halloween Bug
Bambi!Wanda x Reader
It was your first Halloween season with your lovely doe Wanda. Honestly it felt great.
You had spent the evenings watching scary movies and not so scary movies with Wanda. Having her curled in your lap while you fed each other candy and popcorn was amazing.
Natasha was happy for the two of you. She noticed Wanda running back and forth down the hallway of the Sanctuary, bits of fabric in her fists.
“Where are you going, Bambi?” The red haired wolf asked with a chuckle.
“It’s a surprise!” She replied before taking off to the arts and crafts room.
Wanda wouldn’t allow you to see it just yet. Halloween was fast approaching and the glee in Wanda’s eyes grew.
She loved this time of the year. She used to spend Halloween with her family and now she gets to spend it with you. She was gonna be able to forge new memories with you and wanted it to be perfect.
Halloween day had arrived and your pal Stark got a little Halloween party going for all the hybrids.
You came out of your room dressed as a knight, a reminder of your love and devotion to your mate.
“Wanda,” you said, your mate still hiding in her room. “We’re gonna be late for the party”
“I’m ready for you to see my costume. Are you ready?” Her sweet voice said through the door.
“I’m ready my doe” you said with a chuckle.
And then she stepped out. Red cape, a custom red bathing suit with pink stockings and red boots. Your mate’s antlers were blended perfectly with the red crown she wore.
She was stunning. You almost found yourself kneeling before your forest queen.
“I’m a Sokovian Fortune Teller,” she says with a giggle, “and I take it you’re my knight”
“To always guard you, my queen”
Wanda puts a gentle hand on your armored shoulder. “I love you my knight. I always feel so safe in your arms”
You stand up and wrap her in a hug, “by your side Wanda, that’s where I wanna spend my life”
Wanda giggles, her nose scrunches and her tail wiggles. Just a few little things that make you love her even more so.
The party was a success. You and Wanda made your way home, happy and content as can be.
“You know,” your mate giggles, “my costume is a two parter”
“Oh?”
“Yeah,” she bites her lip playfully, “I’m not just a fortune teller.”
She kisses you and pulls different parts of your knight armor off of you. You tug at her cape, letting it flutter to the ground.
“I’m also a cuddle monster” she purrs, getting you out of your armor before gently pushing you to the couch.
You share kisses, nuzzling and cuddling as you grab the TV remote.
“Wanna watch Harry Potter, my little cuddle monster?” You ask, kissing her nose.
“Can we watch Chamber of Secrets?” She asks excitedly.
“Of course!”
“And tomorrow we start on Christmas movies!!” She adds excitedly.
You’re gonna love watching all things Christmas with your doe. You just know it.

Knight in shining armor
Knight!natasha Romanoff x princess!fem!reader
Warnings: little bit of angst, homophobia, forbidden love between a princess and knight, hurt/comfort, mentions of a almost sexual assault
Word count: 2462
Natasha romanoff is the most well regarded and lived knight watching the kingdom. Due to these skills, the king has entrusted her with the most sacred duty, protecting the princess. Natasha has never met the princess before, but she must do whatever she must to ensure the the princess’s safety and happiness. Natasha stands outside the princess’s chamber and knocks on the door a couple of times. “Your highness? This is Natasha, royal knight to your father and mother. The king and queen. I have been assigned the task of ensuring your safety and well being.” Natasha’s raspy voice said as you carefully opened your door to reveal a stunning woman with long red hair, up in a braid, in her uniform.
Your breath gets caught in your throat by her enchanting beauty and her strong stature. “H-hello knight..” you shyly say. Natasha stands tall and proud proud before the princess, her expression serious and unreadable. Though she takes note of the princess's reaction to her presence, she remains focused on her duty. "Your highness, I understand that you may be surprised to see me, but please know that I'm here solely to ensure your safety and well-being." Natasha says sternly but respectfully. You nod “thank you for your protection over me. Would you like to come in?” You ask her gently as I move back to give her some room. Without a change in expression, Natasha nods. "It would be my honor, your highness." She steps inside the room, taking a quick glance around to survey her surroundings.
"I understand that you may have received threats towards you. Is there anything you can tell me about them?" “Men. Stupid, filthy men. After I told the kingdom about my attraction towards women. Some cocky men has come up to me and try to make advances at me. They never listen and are pigs.” You grumbled as you explain to her everything that’s been happening. Natasha’s expression softens for a moment as she can empathize with the princess's frustrations. "It is unfair that some refuse to respect your boundaries, your highness. Rest assured that I will do everything in my power to ensure your safety." She pauses before continuing. "Are there any specific individuals who you feel pose a threat to your safety?" Natasha asked you with a raised eyebrow. “Well…there has been a few men in the castle, the guards, who have been making me very uncomfortable and make very inappropriate comments at me. I tried to tell mother, but she won’t listen nor believe me..” you sigh and hang your head low.
Natasha’s face takes on a comforting expression upon hearing the Princess's words "There is no need to apologize, your highness. And please do not worry, I assure you that I will investigate the matter thoroughly. Can you share with me any details concerning the guards in question?" Natasha asked you with a caring expression which helped you feel safe. “When I’m in the hallway or going to see my family, they always make snide and inappropriate comments towards me. They sometimes catcall and whistle at me as well. They told me that if I gave them a chance that they can change me back to liking men.” You say while whispering the last part and went over to Natasha to hug her to gain some sort of comfort. Natasha stiffens slightly as you embrace her, she clears her throat, maintaining a professional demeanor. "Your highness, please remember that I am here to protect you. As such, it is important that you speak with me openly and honestly about everything that has occurred. With your permission, will investigate this matter further and take appropriate measures to ensure your safety."
You listen to her words and your expression turns sad “you don’t believe me do you…?” I whisper. Natasha peers down at the princess, studying her emotions "On the contrary, I believe every word you say, your highness. It is my duty as a knight to uphold the safety of those under my protection. I will ensure that these guards are held accountable for their actions and take measures to keep you safe." Natasha said with a stern but calm expression as she tries to reassure you. You feel a burst of gratitude and leaned up to place a soft kiss against her cheek. You’ve never had a knight who was this nice and protective over you. “Thank you my knight…” you said softly as you went into the bathroom to fix your makeup as mascara was running down your cheeks. Natasha stiffens briefly at your sudden display of affection, though she quickly regains her composure. As you went to go fix your makeup, she takes a moment to compose herself before returning to a vigilant lookout for any potential threats. "You're welcome, your highness. I will remain outside, please don't hesitate to call if you require my help." Natasha says as she went back outside of your door. She remains stationed outside, keeping a watchful eye for any signs of danger. Despite her professional dedication to protecting the kingdom and its subjects, Natasha cannot help but feel a faint flutter in her chest as she thinks about the princess. She shakes her head, mentally scolding herself for such foolish thoughts.
You kept smiling at the knights words and feels your heart beat faster because of her. Oh no...are you catching feelings for the girl knight in shining armor?
~ the next couple of days past ~
Natasha was stationed outside your door, watching out for any potential threats while you were inside writing in your journal. Your feelings for this knight has been growing stronger and stronger. She would come inside every now and then to check on you and y’all would talk for hours on end, getting to know one another. You decided to write her a little cheesy poem to tease her and to let her know how you felt about her. “Roses are red, violets are blue, when you look at me, I feel protected by you.” You wrote and got up from your bed and slid the note under the door and went running back to your bed while giggling to yourself like a crazed teenager. Natasha notices something underneath your door and stoops down to pick up the paper, scanning it over briefly. Her eyes widen for a split second, before she regains her composure and shoves the note into one of her pockets. She feels her heart race ever so slightly, Natasha takes a deep breath to regain her bearings. Though she is curious about the princess's intentions, she reminds herself that duty to the kingdom must always come first. There’s no time for feelings or love in this line of work. The sun was setting and your heart was yearning for Natasha’s presence, so you decided to call her in. Natasha hears your call of her name and promptly enters the room, ready to serve you.
"Yes, your highness. What can I assist you with?" She said with her raspy voice you’ve grown attracted to. “I was just wondering, instead of calling you knight, can I call you by Natasha?” You asked her with a smile that she physically melted at but had to keep her composure so she acted shocked by your words, so she looked slightly taken aback by your request. "As you wish, your highness. You may refer to me as Natasha if it is your desire." She said and you gave her a big smile which grew into a little smirk that you hid from her, you decided to tease her a bit to get her going. “You know…instead of having my fathers last name…it should be changed to y/n romanoff.” I say confidently but a blush still crept up onto my cheeks. Natasha’s face flushes with a hint of embarrassment at your teasing words. "That is quite amusing, your highness. However, I assure you that my last name is of little consequence in your protection. My primary objective is to keep you safe from potential threats, not to engage in such frivolous affairs.” She said sternly as she tried to keep her heart from beating so fast at your comment. Your smile turns into a frown “oh…” you whispered and looked down embarrassed. Natasha felt her heart break at your sadden look and frowns sympathetically. "I apologize if my words came off as dismissive, your highness. It is simply that I take my duties very seriously and cannot allow any distractions to affect the safety of those under my protection." She states as she’s trying not to let this liking towards you effect her duties and her career.
You shake your head as tears fill your eyes and you curse yourself under your breath for acting this way. “Just go Natasha…” you whisper. Natasha’s expression softens as she sees your tears and hears your cracking voice as she places a comforting hand on your shoulder. "Your highness, please don't be upset. I am here to serve you, and your safety is always my top priority." Natasha says as she looks at you with a level of sympathy and affection that could be perceived as romantic. But Natasha quickly supresses her emotions, steeling herself to maintain a professional facade. "If you ever need me, just say the word and I'lI be there.” Natasha states and you nod your head at her, feeling yourself blush at her touch. “Thank you Natasha…” you say as you lean up and give her a gentle kiss on the corner of her mouth. Natasha’s eyes widen briefly as you kiss her, though she quickly regains her composure and steps back. "Your highness, that is not appropriate." Despite the urge she has to grab you and kiss you, Natasha must maintain a professional demeanor, both for her own sake and for the sake of the kingdom. "Please refrain from making any advances towards me.” She said sternly which instantly made her feel sad at how she had to act towards you just now. You felt your heart break into a million pieces and you scolded yourself for getting your hopes up that Natasha might have actually had feelings for you. You walk away from her and head to your bathroom and sob quietly.
Natasha watches you leave to the bathroom and sighs deeply, feeling a pang of sadness and regret. Though she is duty-bound and cannot allow herself to be swayed by personal desires, she cannot help but feel a deep connection to you. She stands in silence for a few moments, her mind racing with conflicting emotions, before leaving the room and goes back to standing outside your door.
~ a few weeks past ~
These past few weeks have been interesting, you have been avoiding Natasha as much as you can. You can’t bear to look at her or even talk to her, it just hurts too much. You decided to talk a walk around the castle when someone grabbed you by your arm as they pulled you into a empty part of the castle, but before he put his hand over your mouth you screamed. “NATASHA! HELP ME!” Natasha who happens to be patrolling the castle, hears the princess's scream and rushes towards the source of the disturbance. As she enters the room and sees the guards attempting to assault you, Natasha grits her teeth and draws her sword. "Release her at once, or I’ll cut your throat and leave you to bleed out.” she says in a stern voice, her eyes flashing with anger and determination. The two guards looked terrified and looked like they were about to shit their pants so they let you go immediately which led you to fall to the hard floor. Natasha quickly rushes to your side, checking to make sure you were unharmed. "Are you alright, your highness?" she asks, concern etched on her face. She glares at the guards, who look down in shame at their actions. "This will not go unpunished. I will report this to the king and queen and have them deal with you accordingly.” She growled at them.
You answered her question “n-no!” You cry out and hug her tight, wanting this to be over. Natasha gently wraps her arms around you, holding you close and offering comfort. "Shh, it's alright. I'm here now, and I won't let anvone harm you." She reassures you as she rubs soothing circles on your back, feeling her own heart breaking at the sight of the princess in such distress. "Please, your highness, tell me what happened.” Natasha asked you with a soft and caring voice which made you feel a bit better. “i-i was just walking around the castle when t-they snatched me and w-was about to a-assault me...” you whimpered out and Natasha coos at you. "I'm so sorry that happened to you, your highness," Natasha says sympathetically. “Those guards will face justice for their actions. But for now, let's focus on your safety and getting you someplace safe." She says softly as she helps you up from the floor and escorts you out of the room, making sure to keep a watchful eye out for any other potential threats. "You can trust me, your highness. I will do everything in my power to protect you." Natasha says as you look up at her with a loving stare but you quickly look away. “You are making my feelings for you grow stronger Natasha.” You sigh as she escorts you back to your room. Natasha returns your gaze with a kind and understanding look, though she keeps her emotions in check. "I am honored to serve you and protect you with my life, your highness," she says with a small smile. "You should rest now. I will make sure there are extra guards posted outside of your room tonight, just in case." She bows respectfully before taking her leave, her heart heavy with complicated feelings.
You nod at her request and bid her a goodnight. You put your nightgown on and go to sleep, trying to forget this awful day. As she makes her way back to her own quarters, Natasha can't help but think about the princess and the emotions that are growing stronger within her. While she knows that such feelings are taboo for a knight and a woman, there is little she can do to resist them. Deep in thought, Natasha returns to her quarters and spends the rest of the night pacing, trying to sort out her conflicted emotions.

Her father knew she would be targeted the moment other kingdoms found out he passed away. A Royal Huntsman is an expert tracker and skilled hunter who accompanies the king on hunting expeditions, ensuring their safety and providing sustenance. When the king wouldn’t be available for a battle, he, together with Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, will lead the army in the battle. He got his nickname “Rooster” from the other knights because he was always waking up the earliest to check the castle for any dangers. He isn’t afraid to kill when needed.
Pete “Maverick” Mitchell is the Master of Arms in the kingdom Misthaven. A Master of Arms is a military commander who oversees the kingdom's armed forces and advises the king on matters of defense and security. He makes the attack plans of the kingdom and is the first one that will protect his kingdom.

This title signifies that the knight is specifically chosen and sworn to defend and protect the king at all costs. Javy and Jake have been best friends since they were little. Mickey became the queens champion at age 14 when the 11 year princess was almost attacked by a dangerous villager. Together with Ruben “Payback” Fitch, he will protect the Queen with his life. Like Natasha, Mickey followed the queen to Misthaven.
Reuben “Payback” Fitch is the second Queens Champion. He was given the role at age 16 when the king started to become ill. The King was scared that more dangerous villagers would attack his daughter now that he couldn’t look after his daughter like he used to do. Not a queen - Prologue
Summary: You are no one. What if fate makes you queen?
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Maid!Reader x Nick (Fowler) Barnes
Warnings: heavy angst, dystopian world, modern royal au, secrets,
This series takes place in the Two kings universe. I recommend to read this story first to understand this universe better. This story starts around 1 year before the wedding in arc 1 - Two kings
This is the 2nd arc to this: Of Kings and Queens Arcs
Not a queen (Arc 2) masterlist
The world is going to change. You can feel it. The wind told you so.
Of course, you can’t tell anyone about your dreams, and that the wind talks to you. So, you keep your mouth shut, and your head down. It’s the only thing you can do.
In this world the royal reign, and the normal people serve. Humanity got thrown back to the dark age when the war of the second sons destroyed the modern world.
“Y/N, stop daydreaming,” the elder maid tuts. Ruth is a nice old hag, always having your back. “We got to clean the prince’s chamber and the library. Then we are done for the day.”
“Hmm…” you nod. It’s almost the weekend, and you will get away from the castle for two days, relax and enjoy not scrubbing the floor or changing bed sheets. “Do you want me to clean the library or the chamber?”
“You already cleaned the kitchen. I’ll take care of the library, sweetie. You can take care of the prince’s chamber. Maybe you’ll get a glimpse of Prince Bucky too,” she gives you a wink.
“No-I,” you shrug. “He doesn’t even know I exist. Most of the time the royals pass us by without even noticing someone else is around. They live in a different world.”
“You never know, Y/N. Prince Bucky is a fine young man,” she says. “If you come out of your shell once in a while, you’ll see he will talk to you.”
“I don’t think so. Some months ago, I tried to talk to him and he ignored my question because that red-haired girl was around.”
“Natasha Romanoff?” Ruth huff. “She’s going to marry Lord Barton’s son. Romanoff is not interested in our prince.”
“Ruth, please. How could a prince ever be into me?”
“A girl can dream. Right?” she pats your cheek. “You’re a cute and smart girl. Kind too. A man would be blind to not see you.”
“Phew…done,” you sigh as you look around the prince’s chamber. Everything is clean, his clothes are in the hamper, and you even picked up the books he carelessly dropped to the floor. “Weekend, I’m coming.”
You’re spinning around, giggling as you will have the next two days off. “Having fun?” someone chuckles behind your back. The prince stands in the doorframe, watching you, a smug grin on his face.
“Sorry. I was just…” you trail off. “I just finished your room. I’ll go now, your highness.” You hurriedly grab your broom, dustpan, and bucket. “Have a great day.”
“Mouse, why the hurry?” he cocks his head as you try to brush past him. “Do you have somewhere else to be?”
“My shift is over. I got a long way home and want to arrive home before it gets dark. I don’t have knights around to protect me,” you quip, making the prince chuckle.
He quirks a brow as you walk past him and out of the room. You run off when he calls for you again. It’s not your job to keep him company or let him make fun of you.
You hurriedly make your way out of the castle, hoping to arrive home before the rain pouring down soaks your clothes.
It’s the worst day to forget your umbrella. “Oh no,” you crouch down to pick up the book the prince just dropped. You wonder how he can be here. Not moments ago, you bumped into him in his chamber. “Your Highness!”
You harrumph as he once again, ignores your existence. He doesn’t turn around but rather runs inside the castle to escape the rain.
“What…shit,” you turn around to walk back inside the castle. If you don’t return the book, someone might think you stole it.
Walking a little faster to make sure you can leave before the rain gets even worse you make your way toward the prince’s chamber. You take a deep breath and knock.
“Your Highness? You dropped the book outside,” you don’t wait for him to answer and step inside the chamber. “Your Highness? It’s me…uh…the mouse.”
“Mouse?”
The book slips out of your hands. “Your Highness?” you swallow thickly as not one prince but two, looking the same, stare at you with wide fearful eyes. “I-I didn’t want to interrupt. You dropped the book and…”
“It’s the maid I told you about, Nick.”
You step back when one of the men walks toward you. “We can’t let her go, Bucky. She will get us killed. What if she runs right to the council?”
“I won’t say a word,” you whimper. “Please.”
“Aw, mouse,” Bucky whispers lowly as he wraps his hand around your wrist, “you shouldn’t have entered the room…”
