Working Digital Photo March 2020 . . Alternative title: "Damn it Kyrie I'm busy." This image is part of my snapshot series currently titled "Public Indians Private Cherokees." Dad is an enrolled member of the EBCI. He doesn't speak the language, nor does he participate in the community other than his job, but he still lives on the Qualla Boundary. My childhood home is his childhood home. My father's workplace temporarily shut down during the early months of lock down. This didn't bother him in the slightest: Dad saw it as more time to dedicate to his side hobby of automotive work. He's able to keep an entire building dedicated to his hobby. Mask Carving 2019 - Digital Photograph . . (This image is from a snapshot image series project focusing on the public and private sides of the Qualla Boundary in Western North Carolina. Other images and details are in the works). EBCI member Levon George works on a wooden mask while at his job in the Oconoluftee Indian Village, a popular tourist draw in Cherokee, North Carolina. The Village is set up like a replica 18th century Cherokee Village, with tourists guided through the various stations that demonstrate different kinds of craft work.
