But Anakin wasn’t paying attention, rubbing at his eyes as if he just couldn’t stay awake. “Shoulda left with her. Everything would be okay if I just kriffing manned up and left…”

Anakin is not a great guardian!

TCW series does depict him as a good master, which they are allowed to do and which is great! I just do whatever I want, though. And my kind of rule with Anakin is 'yeah, Darth Vader tracks'.

The way I think about Anakin is that he's magnetic and charming. He's an awful dweeb teen, he's a cocky war hero, he's flying off the handle, whatever, but people are attracted to him. He has a way of making you feel like the most special person in the universe. He loves you! He loves you so much! He thinks you're the greatest thing since sliced toast! Why are you being so mean to him! It's like you don't even care about him! You KICK Anakin? You kick him like the -

It's a little intoxicating, I think. Cody has a line about this in the next story - nobody will hear anything bad about Anakin. Qui-Gon, Padme, Obi-Wan, Rex, the clones, the Holonet, a lot of the Jedi...it's not that he can do no wrong, but he's a loveable scamp who you'll always be loyal to. He loves loving people.

I wrote out a bunch about Anakin in Less than Zero, but I deleted it because he's not important lmfao. I toss out a lot of random stuff about him throughout the series - he rages, but he always apologizes. He says stuff that scares Obi-Wan. He's furious at the dehumanization of the clones. He's symbolic of the 'war' side, while Qui-Gon's symbolic of the 'Jedi' side - so Obi-Wan always drifts to Anakin. He's so damn excited to get a padawan, because finally that's somebody who has to love him, and it'll be just like Ahsoka all over again.

His early childhood with Ahsoka is also understated, but he has basically deified her. It's important that he's a black and white thinker, and you're his enemy or you're his hero. She saved him, and you KNOW she was more enthusiastic about it than QG lol. It's shown she lets him see his mom. She was maternal. She was badass and cool and #rogue. She always understood him, and she was probably the only one who did. Again, cannot be overstated, Ahsoka was maternal.

Then Palps the Jedi took her away from him.

Poor Qui-Gon couldn't match up. And Anakin is left desperately trying to be the Ahsoka he remembered to Obi-Wan, but he can't. He can't recreate that connection. He doesn't have the relationship to Obi-Wan he wants. Obi-Wan doesn't love him unconditionally, he's different personality wise, and he's found far more consistent guardian figures elsewhere. And this perfect, sacred master-padawan relationship isn't exactly how Anakin wants.

Ha ha he resents the clones a little bit ha ha ha...?

Jesus, it's Anakin. He gets two scenes and I mention him a handful of times but he's incredibly important and I could go on and on. I did have a whole thing about him in the convo with Padme that explains quite a bit, but talking about him in the story just didn't fit. As usual, Anakin (and Ahsoka) colors everything else, but very meaningfully he isn't actually freaking there. He and Qui-Gon aren't there. Cody is.

The last QG anon: First of all, I am sorry that I send irrelevant asks. But I have some links to make between both series without talking much about QG. Like I said I love the dynamic between them. But for obvious reasons I can't ship them. Same goes for Bella/Carlisle. But Carlisle has a defense that he is eternally 23 years old. Then again he is 400 years old. Sometimes if you say on twitter that you ship couples like these- people freaks out even though they are fictional. The problem is i +

can't make anyone understand that huge age gap isn’t the reason i ship these couples. I ship these couples because of the tension and dynamic between them. Even if Bella Carlisle would have 2 years old age gap between them, they would still be the same couple for me because Carlisle would still be a professional gentleman+lovesick fool and Bella would be introverted next door generous girl. The age gap comes as a story plot. I don’t think it has much to do with actual chemistry between them.

Before I start I'd like to say I'm only answering this because it's making me twitch and it DOES actually talk more about Bellisle than your previous asks. I also want to say: YOU SHOULD HAVE LED WITH THIS. Honestly, I get wanting to talk about a rarepair that is 'problematic' in a place you won't be judged, but this is not that place. I am clearly a Bellisle Blog, with nothing to do with QG. I've carved out a space for a specific thing and it is not for anything else.

Now onto the discussion: First of all, The thing is, you shouldn't have to explain that it's not about the age gap.

The only way I'll be actually angry about a ship if it's real people who are minors or are adults who have asked NOT TO BE shipped.

Second, much as I personally agree that shipping is about the compatibility of their personalities and how good/interesting they'd be together, it's also alright to ship pairings because they're cute together?

I mean, AESTHETIC is a perfectly OK reason to ship people? I mean I'm a hopeless fool and I LOVE the fact that he's so much BIGGER than her. Like after realizing they were compatible I ABSOLUTELY FELL for how small and dainty Bella is next to him.

I get purity culture has ruined people's ability to ship whatever they want, but like... Do it anyways? I mean, good grief!

have you had a bad experience with s*nsa/j*nsa fans? it seems that the entire got/asoiaf fandom has problems with them (dany stans, arya stans, targ stans, jon stans, jaime stans, brienne stans, braime shippers) i don't want to generalize but they seem to be a very unfriendly, hypocritical and "holier than thou" bunch. they don't care for any female character who isn't sansa while screaming "misogyny" when someone dares to criticise their fave. they also bitch about jonerys despite shipping jonsa (i couldn't care less for either ship but wtf?) they gush about how flawed and complex sansa is but act like she did nothing wrong and get angry whenever someone criticises her. they act like arya throwing food at her clothes is horrible disgusting irredeemable behaviour, but say "siblings being siblings" when sansa literally tells her that she should marry hodor because she's ugly like him. The double standards ugh. as a brienne lover, i personally hate the way they only see brienne as a bodyguard to sansa and don't seem to care about her character. what about you? I really love (BOOK) Sansa but her fans' attitude makes me lose interest in her character which hurts me. It's gotten to the point that im wary of anyone who has a Sansa icon :(

I mean my worst experience with... anyone in that camp wasn’t even for fandom stuff but it was someone who shipped it/was a s/nsa stan being pro-trump under a springsteen post I made and that was... let’s just say extremely unpleasant and then there was the anti-sansan twitter crowd which was also extremely unpleasant and that one person who hated joncon and was a jon/sa stan/dany anti who couldn’t handle being told to not tag joncon hate who also was a trip though I’ve had friends who had way worse run-ins, that is if we don’t count my by now legendary beef with THAT one s/nsa-j/nsa stan who hated robb stark but I mean... half of her own fandom hated her so X°D 

that said: I personally detest show-sansa from s5 onwards and I loathe how part of her fandom has decided to make the entire show/series about her and how they discard arya and brienne to give s/nsa parts of their storylines/their love interests/making both of them basically the glorified bodyguards (which was also why I loathed a brienne in sansa’s qg ending and I’m way happier with the one we got if I had to choose one evil) and I detest how they turned her into cersei lite and everyone hauled that frankly shit ooc ending she got as FEMINISM just bc she became qitn when it’s against everything in the original text, not even going into the mess that was S5 which is better not touched and I honestly can’t with the part of fandom who has decided that the entire series revolves around s/ansa while at the same time denying all over the place her actual book traits and the fact that both people who are her only realistic viable canon interests aren’t standard hot. I do love book s/nsa a lot and I’m trying to detach the show version from the book as much as I can and if I write fic I’m sticking with the book characterization because I don’t want the show mess near me at any time, but tldr: idc for any section of this fandom who discusses s/ansa which isn’t either san/san or sansa/tyrion shippers too at this point because everyone else at this point is going to be a minefield and I’m tired of the continuous denial that s/ansa’s stark love interests are those two guys but nah let’s give her all the hot guys as if it’s not like... against the text, I’m tired of people denying book canon and I don’t want to see the show version anymore. I have nothing against like... liking showsansa or shipping j/nsa (even if idc for it same as idc for jon/erys) or shipping her with anyone and I don’t judge anyone’s shipping preferences but I’d just like some intellectual honesty when it comes to discussing the actual text and admitting that showsansa is basically cersei lite and nothing like her book self, and that’s not something that happens outside those two corners now so *shrug* and I’m not even touching the BRIENNE AS THE BODYGUARD concept as last time I tried to discuss it on twitter without bringing shipping into it I got accused of hating f/f ships and honestly I’m too old and tired for this discourse except to say that making brienne or arya s/ansa’s bodyguards only is rude af, shows zero understanding of the text and I really don’t want anything to do with it. :/

The Queen’s Gambit Review

If you didn't think chess was sexy, think again

The QG is adapted from a fictional coming of age sports book of the same name by author Walter Tevis. Netflix's interpretation tells the rise of an orphaned chess genius who battles addiction whilst trying to attain Grandmaster level.

Anya Taylor- Joy is astounding in the role of the reserved, restrained prodigy who despite being alone finds family in the people who crosses her path.

In essence the series wants the viewer to hover on that stereotypical tightrope of genius vs. madness and to witness how individuals are held captive by their own vices- Thus exposing the issue of, can the virtuoso conquer her inner demons to win. 

I really loved this show and was sad when it was over after only 7 episodes. The attention to detail of the 50's & 60's was spot on and I adored how they made Beth be so fashion forward for a nerdy chess player. Her style throughout was fabulous and in the last scene that white coat and hat was everything!!!

I'd also LOVE to see an animated series exploring Obi's padawan years and, ofc, an arc with him, QG & Satine on Mandalore is a must! Pretty please tell us more about what you think the year on the run would be like for the 3 of them! The relationships between all of them are so interesting to analyse. I personaly cannot help but think of them as a little family: a dad, his son and his daughter-in-law. We know QG knew about Obi's romance with Satine but he didn't stop either of them. Thank U!

Oooh, honestly, there are just infinite possibilities. And I’m totally with you on the QG knowing brainwave. It’s so interesting because Obi seemed to take the ‘if I don’t see it, it’s not happening’ approach with Anakin and Padmé, but that is just...not...how I see it going with QG.

I mostly just want to see some moment where the three of them have to briefly assume different identities because they have to stay in a town where Satine is recognisable or something idk, and just–the possibilities for every possible trope!!!! Oh man, oh man, oh man. Fake dating is just like–my absolutely weakness when it comes to romantic tropes. So I need a world in which Obi and Satine are portraying idk, newlyweds or something and, like you said...QG is just there as their dad. 

The absolute feral potential for QG totally taking the mickey from Obi at every second of the day. Them checking into some random hole-in-the-wall space motel–

Qui-Gon: What do you mean, my son? You don’t want a room all alone with your wife? *claps him heftily on the back*
