Can I be *making* any more box bags?
Yes, yes I can. Recently I was playing around with quilt-as-you-go patchwork and ended up with a 22" x 14" piece of fabric made from scraps. I used that for the outside of a boxed bag, which is now hanging in the kitchen & holding used-and-washed-for-reuse Ziplocs. I didn't want to use The Good Fabric™ for the lining, and instead went with a 1/2-yard cut that came with a fabric bundle I bought several months ago. Allegedly the print is "pink daisies" but Mr P & I agree that they look more like nipples than flowers. I used some of the scraps from that to make the zipper pulls and handle.

Sewing stuff is honestly so funny sometimes because you’ll be looking at the finished product like how the fuck did you even put this together but then once it’s explained then you’re like of course. Obviously that would be the only way to do it.

Quilt-as-you-go (QAYG) pot holder
Quilt as You Go, or QAYG, is a fantastic technique that simplifies the  quilting process. Instead of tackling the entire quilt at once, you work  on smaller sections, quilting as you proceed. It’s a practical  approach, especially for beginners, allowing you to focus on manageable  portions and experiment with various designs. With QAYG, you assemble  the quilt block by block, making it an…

Quick quilting by numbers project.
It was fun but in hindsight, I would have chosen less bold and busy fabrics for the project (it was a kit).

7 rows connected!
The quilt as you go method I'm using is the combination of a couple of different ones I found
1. Sew a 1" strip on the edge of the front and back of a quilted block, with the right sides together use a 1/4 inch seam down the edge
2. With the backs of 2 blocks together fold the back 1" strip over and line up the edge with the bottom block, sew with a 1/4" seam
3. Unfold and smooth down the edges, if all the measurements are correct then the edges will sit neatly against each other
4. Fold the top 1" strip over a bit less than 1/4"
5. Sew right on the edge adjusting the fold as necessary to cover the previous line of stitching
*for aesthetics only*
6. Sew on the inside edge of the other side
7. Sew down the middle
8. Done
If I was cutting those strips again I'd make the top ones 1/4" bigger so it would fold to the other seam
Also I could have sworn those blocks were aligned when I started, it's only a couple of mm but still

Trying to finish this coin purse off but not getting very far 😁. As I rarely follow a pattern, and linings ALWAYS confuse me I'm going slow 🤞. #handmadechristmaspresents #handmadechristmas #makersgonnamake #quiltersofinstagram #quilter #quilting #qayg #quiltasyougo #liberty #scapbusting #noscrapleftbehind #robinbird #christmasrobin https://www.instagram.com/p/BqXmpLWH_Mb/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=dc82wys1v6cq
