Tomorrow, your afterlife starts anew.
Hello Patrons!
After two all-nighters, I can finally and officially announce that The Bar on the Abyss 2.0 update will be released tomorrow, Friday 16th :D
I will post the full list of features and changes with the update, but here's a small preview: I added 3 more solutions to the confrontation with Pyriphlegethon!
Your new Spirit Gift will now enable you to avoid a fight altogether: charm them, use your insight to uncover the true reason for their attack, or apply logical thinking to break their resolve.
See you tomorrow :D

"The Gate to Hades" (part 3 in my Orpheus and Eurydice series)
Part3: But Orpheus is not satisfied to sit in solitary mourning. There was a great injustice in the death of his love Eurydice. If the beasts and rocks of the wild woods of Olympia bow before his song, what is to stop him for persuading the spirits of the underworld? Perhaps he can even persuade the King Hades to take pity on him and his lost love. With this determination, he receives directions to the dark gate from the forest nymphs and sets out. Many days later, standing before that gaping black maw, Orpheus shivers. He might never return to the land of the living. He steps forward. He has nothing left to lose.
In Greek literary sources we have varying references to the location of the entrance to underworld. In Homers Odyssey, Odysseus must travel to Hades to  perform a “Nekyia” ceremony to commune with the dead to receive prophecies. Circe gives Odysseus the vaguest of directions; “…once your ship has crossed flowing Ocean, drag it ashore at Persephone’s groves, on the level beach where tall poplars grow, willows shed their fruit, right beside deep swirling Oceanus.  Then you must go to Hades’ murky home, where Periphlegethon and Cocytus, a stream which branches off theriver Styx, flow into Acheron.” – translation by Ian Johnston.
Some scholars believe Homer’s description of the location is based on the real-world temple of the “Nekromanteion” (oracle of the dead) in Ancient Epirus (Northwest Greece). This was a temple of necromancy dedicated to Hades and Persephone where devotees could commune with dead spirits, and was believed to be the entrance to Hades. The temple was located at the meeting point of three rivers; the Acheron (river of woe), Pyriphlegethon (river of fire), and Cocytus (river of lamentation).
Thanks for reading and looking! If you share this image I'll swim the river styx to.give you a high five! Xoxo

Okay, so for my own fanfictions, most of which take place post-TOA and therefore post-Percy "claim your children" Jackson and Jason "honor minor gods" Grace, I made myself a spreadsheet of all the cabins I believe could plausibly be at Camp Half-Blood, and ended up with a whopping 270, and there's probably more dieties whom I couldn't find any information on, and some dieties whom I don't believe would have a cabin (ex. Kronos) (if you think I should add someone comment) and decided to paste it here, since I don't feel comfortable sharing my original spreadsheet. I did add the water dieties, even though their kids could also plausibly go to the underwater camp, but I've decided to give them the option of what camp they want. I also didn't copy their domains, but I have the list from my research, so you can ask if you'd like, I'll be glad to explain! Most of my research was from Theoi Project - Greek Mythology, and Brittanica, and probably some others I've since forgotten, so if you know any good Greek Mythology resourses and books, please share!
Here's some symbols before we begin:
* - virgin goddess. I added them because Athena and Artemis already have cabins (and Athena kids by magical means)
" - Dieties whom have faded in the series. Their cabins are more memorials to them.
Additionally there are 2 dieties named Thalia, (1) Thalia refers to the muse, the goddess of comedies, and (2) Thalia refers to the goddess of festivities and banquet

So that's my list. I don't really have a rhyme or reason for why each number is each, but I did clump together gods with similar domains because that's where they were easiest to find in my research... I honestly think kids of minor gods are very underused in TOA fics, and even in PJO and HOO to an extent. Jillie, my nine year old daughter of Gelus with a contageous laugh? One of my fave OCs.
As for Roman gods and goddess, I'm not as knowledgable, but hopefully I'll make a spreadsheet for plausable godly parents, though unlike CHB it doesn't need to be organized as there's just Cohorts. I don't write Camp Jupiter fics all that often, but it'll be a good resource to have if I choose to.

Oh, the first part of the geography ask was effectively, I love the cozy found family vibes, and I love that you had Gehenna be one of the Underworld locations. I was curious if, since you go down several rivers if you go to see Hypnos there, those rivers are sort of 'mapping' in a way to the Mediterranean in the mortal realm? Or are they 'mapping' to major bodies of water, in general? Or neither? Basically, is there any line-up between Underworld and mortal realm geography?
They don't map to anything specifically. There is a very vague correspondence of Underworld population centers to the mortal realm, but not really in the case of the terrain itself.
Some of the rivers cross reasonably often, with only really the Pyriphlegethon and the Lethe being more to themselves. Even Pyri's river intersects with the others sometimes, though, as it essentially runs around the Underworld's 'borders' to provide the first barrier at every entry point.
And thank you!

Queen of the Dead 142
Those of you who know your Odyssey know where I got the inspiration for this. Odysseus crosses the stream of Okeanos to get there, though.
“When you have crossed the stream of Ocean, you will reach the shore, where willows let fall their dying fruit, and towering poplars grow in the forest of Persephone. Tie up your ship in the deep-eddying Ocean, and go into the spacious home of Hades. The Pyriphlegethon and Cocytus, a tributary of the Styx, both run into the Acheron."
The Odyssey, book 10, translated by Emily Wilson.

Sorry that I keep bothering you over this, but I still end up with Morgana. I restarted the game, chose the " I have no special interest" option and on the day of the letter she still asks me to come over after my shift.
There is no option to refuse and when the Pyriphlegethon business is done she tells me that I invited Lilith to join our date. What am I doing wrong? I just want to romance Lilith in peace. At this point I feel like I need a restraining order. 😭
Lmao what the actual hell 😭
Welp, it seems I’ll need to do a full code breakdown of that chapter and rewrite it. I’ll get on it asap, sorry it’s still happening!
