The World's Finest Wilderness Lies Beneath the Waves #RobertWyland #Inspiration #Journey #QOTD
I love this quote! The world’s finest wilderness lies beneath the waves. -Robert Wyland The ocean is my happy place. I could just float in the waves every day, day after day. It’s a little sad that I live so far away from them, but anytime I get the chance to go East (or West) to the coast, I go to the ocean for several days to just soak it all up. In honor of this wonderful quote (of the day)…

ANTS WITHOUT ANTENNAS
Being born into cultural privilege can often be an ethical handicap.
It is very difficult to empathize with pains one has never experienced.
When one is born on a mountaintop above the storms of poverty and oppression, it can be very hard to empathize with those caught in the flood waters below.
Like ants without antennas we privileged people are tempted to use own own numbness as proof others exaggerate their own pain.
What is easier than for a white person to use "law and order” to silence the cries of pain coming from Communities of Color?
What requires less sacrifice than for a man to oppose the reproductive rights of women?
What is more self-serving than for Christians to call for bringing God into the public arena, and by “God” to mean the deification of our own point of view?
We cannot arrive at ethical integrity by reason alone. Justice is impossible for those of us privileged people who cannot, or will not, empathize with the pain of those lacking the privileges into which we were born and which we vainly consider as proof of our own superiority.

"There's Always a Choice" by me | (Also on DA)
"Now that we're all on the same page, what will it be, gentlemen?"
It's been a minute, huh? It looks like some flies for pilots are caught in a bit of a situation: a hottie hacking a system on the inside, and a brute taking a bite outbound. I wonder what they'll decide.
See more of the Weapon of Choice in this gallery.

Secondsight Guardian - CR10 Construct
An invisible guardian with a unique way of being spotted.
Shadow is artwork by Ville-Valtteri Kinnunen on ArtStation, from Dragon Age II, copyright Bioware. Ground texture is public domain artwork from Pxhere.
Use this fight if you want to run a combat involving finding an invisible creature, but hate all the mechanics involving players trying to guess which square to attack. Unless you also have other creatures in the room, this boss fight doesn’t really even need a battlemap, and might even be better without one.
A Secondsight Guardian is a construct that only functions properly within its own lair, and so it’s ideally used as a guardian for some kind of vault or other important area that needs to be left protected. The lair should be no more than 60 feet by 60 feet, and should be high enough to allow a medium creature to fly around, preferably with a ceiling at least 30 feet high, but no more than 60 feet high. And the lair needs to be outfitted with a bunch of magic items which only function within this lair - Lanterns of Shadow Seeing. These magic items significantly weaken the boss’s invisibility, but the magic that allows it to stay invisible doesn’t work at all if it’s not surrounded by the lanterns.
If you want the lanterns to function outside of the lair, just be aware that they’re probably worth somewhere on the order of 150,000 gold each. As stationary items, their value is much more reasonable.
The PCs can screw up this boss’s invisibility by destroying all of the lamps, or make their geometry quiz a little easier by destroying just some of them. They’ll probably accidentally destroy some of them with fireballs anyway.
Secondsight Guardian - CR 10
More than two dozen flickering lamps hang from the ceiling by chains, all around the room, at different positions and heights. And for each lamp, there’s a shadow - that of what looks like an armored humanoid creature wielding a long polearm, flying through the air. It’s impossible to see the creature, but by studying the movement of the shadows, perhaps you can tell where it is.

SPECIAL ABILITIES
Cast Shadows When a secondsight guardian is in its lair, the lanterns of shadow seeing cast shadows of it all around the room, despite its invisibility. This allows its location to be pinpointed automatically if the secondsight guardian is on the ground, or with a DC 15 Intelligence check if the secondsight guardian is flying, by quickly calculating the positions and angles of all of the shadows being cast by each lantern. A creature can make this Intelligence check once per round as a free action at the beginning of its turn.
If any of the 15 lanterns of shadow seeing in the secondsight guardian’s lair are destroyed, covered, or otherwise do not cast light, the DC of this check decreases by 1 per lantern that is not functioning.
A creature that fails to pinpoint a secondsight guardian’s location with an Intelligence check can still attempt to use a Peception check to do so normally.
Lair Bound Powers (Su) A secondsight guardian has a lair, which is any area with at least 15 lanterns of shadow seeing within 60 feet of each other, all of which must be displayed visibly at least 5 feet from one another.
If a secondsight guardian is not in its lair, or if any of the lanterns of shadow seeing are removed from its lair or destroyed, it loses its flight and invisibility after 1 minute. If all of the lanterns of shadow seeing are removed from its liar or destroyed, it loses its flight and invisibility immediately. A secondsight guardian regains its flight and invisibility if it spends 24 consecutive hours in its lair while at least 15 lanterns of shadow seeing are in its lair.
Invisibility (Ex) A secondsight guardian is invisible. This ability is constant; a secondsight guardian remains invisible at all times, even when attacking. As this ability is inherent, it is not subject to the invisibility purge spell. Against foes that cannot pinpoint it, the invisible stalker gains a +20 bonus on Stealth checks when moving, or +40 when standing still; these bonuses are not included in the statistics above.
A secondsight guardian can lose this invisibility; see Lair Bound Powers.
Reaching Strikes (Ex) A secondsight guardian’s reach with any melee attack is increased by 5 feet (including unarmed attacks and combat maneuvers). This is already included in its statistics above.
Shadowy Strike (Su) When a secondsight guardian hits a target with a manufactured weapon, it deals an additional 2d8 negative energy damage.

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗟𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿
Consider the hands that write this letter. The left palm pressed flat against the paper, as it has done before, over my heart, in peace or reverence to the sea or some beautiful thing I saw once, felt once: snow falling like rice flung from the giants' wedding, or the strangest birds. & consider, then, the right hand, & how it is a fist, within which a sharpened utensil, similar to the way I've held a spade, match to the wick, the horse's reins, loping, the very fists I've seen from the roads to Lima & Esteli. For years, I have come to sit this way: one hand open, one hand closed, like a farmer who puts down seeds & gathers up the food that comes from that farming. Or, yes, it is like the way I've danced with my left hand opened around a shoulder & my right hand closed inside of another hand. & how I pray, I pray for this to be my way: sweet work alluded to in the body's position to its paper: left hand, right hand like an open eye, an eye closed: one hand flat against the trapdoor, the other hand knocking, knocking.

Q .1 Describe your strengths and weaknesses as a collaborator. What did you do well, and what are some areas to improve? Discuss with reference to today’s activities.
Q. 2 If you had more time and an unlimited budget, how would you design the monument differently? Include pictures of the group work and your personal redesign.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Throughout my life, I have always preferred working alone rather than in groups. I find that I can manage deadlines more effectively, and I’d rather rely on myself than on others. If I make a mistake, I take full accountability for it. However, I have learned to be more open to different perspectives when working in a group and to embrace being a team player. I aim to find ways for us all to achieve a common goal together. One area for improvement is that I need to be more outspoken in group settings. I often feel anxious about speaking to people I don’t know well or worry about being judged for having an incorrect idea or potentially letting others down. I should take the initiative to express myself more openly and communicate my ideas with my teammates.
tree monument done in class, as a group.
If I had more time and an unlimited budget, I would enhance the monument by adding more greenery, artificial leaves, and lights. The monument is intended to represent global warming and its effects on our planet. It should stand for a long time and serve as a reminder of the beauty of nature.
