PALE WAVES (OPENING FOR PVRIS'S OIL & WATER TOUR)

Pale Waves are a pop-rock band hailing from Manchester, England, forming after meeting each other at university in the city. They’ve been on my radar for quite a while, but I didn't start listening to them properly until this year, when I had long periods of time to sit and do coursework. The band basically soundtracked my revision during exam season.

I was more excited to watch them than PVRIS to be honest. It was a bit awkward at first, when Pale Waves came on and @artbyamixx & I were the only ones singing along, but at that point I didn’t care. The band was absolutely amazing. They played songs from all three of their current albums, as well as their most recent release ‘Perfume’, which is the lead single for their fourth album, coming out this September. The second single of which, ‘Glasgow’, came out a week ago. I love that they did this, as it really shows their musical journey over the past few years. Their debut album is comparable to indie-pop sounds like the 1975, but they then progressed to a classic pop-rock feel for their sophomore album (‘Who Am I?’) and then a full-on punk-rock aesthetic for their third album ‘Unwanted’ back in 2022.

Seeing Pale Waves was a dream come true, and to be in New York to experience it was just the cherry on top. Tickets for their next UK tour went on sale recently, but I haven't gotten tickets yet, so who knows? Maybe I’ll be seeing them soon.
