"my lawyer will be sending over the papers for you and your attorney to finalize later today." the process had seemed so drawn out and long despite the fact that the divorce wasn't contested. it was a foregone conclusion that they both had ignored for far too long. he should feel relieved, yet his guts twisted with the conclusiveness of it all. to think, once upon a time, he had been foolish enough to think that they would have a happy ending.

          it's  hard  to  concentrate  on  anything  else  with  the  sight  of  amelia  in  front  of  him,  leaving  her  mark  across  his  apartment, no matter how subtle,  in  nothing  but  his  shirt  on.  marx  tries  to  calm  whatever  weird  feeling  this  image  conjures;  he  doesn't  have  the  time  to  pay  attention  to  it,  and  to  do  so  would  only  complicate  something  that's  been  relatively  fun  and  easy.  so  he  does  as  he's  always  done,  and  simply  lives  in  the  moment  —  grins  when  her  finger  comes  in  contact  with  his  forehead,  snatches  her  hand  to  press  a  kiss  to  the  back  of  her  palm.  "so  you  think  i'm  amazing."  is  what  he  gathers,  before  his  attention  is  turned  back  to  the  screen  as  it  begins  to  boot  to  life.  "it's  okay;  i  won't  tell  !  i'm  just  flattered  you  even  think  it."  running  a  hand  through  his  hair,  marx  stares  at  the  screen  —  colors  and  visuals  garnering  his  attention  at  a  moment's  notice.  "check  this  out."  he  turns  the  laptop  to  her.  "it's  the  new  city  design  for  that  game  freddie's  working  on.  you  know  the  one  i  told  you  about  ?"  he'll  take  any  moment  to  hype  his  roommate  up  —  even  to  his  friend  (  ?  to  call  amelia  his  friend  feels  strange.  freddie  is  his  friend,  but  he  doesn't  think  about  kissing  him  all  the  time  ).  "what  do  you  think  ?"

                          amelia was leant against the kitchen counter, nursing the glass of water as her eyes studied marx's frame, watching him bustle around the living room to gather belongings needed before settling on the couch. "she seems nice." amelia shrugged slightly as he mentioned the neighbour, doing anything she could to avoid the ever looming question of what-are-we or what-are-we-doing? emptying the rest of her glass, she leaves it in the sink and moves to sit on the other end of the couch, still adorning his shirt and her knees pulled up to her chest with her head resting atop of them. it didn't go unnoticed that he'd jolted the question and dodged it like a dart. a hand moved to push his head gently as he looked towards her. "you wish." she teased, not wanting to admit that there was some affection there to him. her hand was playing with the hair on the top of his head. "someone's got to inflate that ego to pop it again," she flicked his forehead gently. "can't have you go thinking you're amazing or something."
