I have a little known autoimmune disease called Hidradenitis suppurativa. Most of my family, a few of my friends know I’ve been suffering with this ‘invisible’ disease since I was in my teens. (I am 56 now) It is not contagious, it IS debilitating and painful 😣 😖 It is extremely hard to discuss with people. Most of the population have no idea what this disease is, much less how it can change your life. Mine is beneath my clothes, unseen by public eye, but it makes my life unbearable for weeks and months. It’s not a disease because I’m dirty, or have contact with cats or pets. It may be invisible to the outside world but it’s not invisible to me. I am #HSAware I live with HS every second, every minute of every day of my life. It touches and colors everything and anything I do, from the way I walk, move, sit down or lay down. There’s not a cure. There’s not enough research to prove any drugs, diet regimens or lifestyle changes can eradicate it or lessen it.
