Here it is! First piece of the year. “Light is like water” 10 x 6.5” . Based on a short story with the same title by Gabo. I found the story simple and yet beautiful and compelling. In the end kids quite literally end up drowning in light, an idea that spoke to me in such a personal way that I decided to do my own take on it. This one’s acrylics/color pencils and I ended up doing some small adjustments in Photoshop. The original painting does have iridescent acrylic which is not easy to scan but you can see it better in the pics.  Rare for me to say this but I’m quite happy with how this one turned out, especially cus I’ve been increasingly interested in using more graphic elements in my work and I really enjoyed that part of the image. Boy! finally gathered the time and courage to finish a piece. Its been a long road of rediscovering my technique and trying new things, learning and failing and keep trying. Last year I did a painting with a similar subject matter of bullfighting. Not gonna get too deep into my thoughts about it so I will just say I don't approve of it and I have been trying to speak about it in my art. I almost finished all of this piece in acrylics but there were a lot of details I did digitally. My goal is to keep the digital part to a minimum and hopefully one day not even use it. The challenge now is to keep the ball rolling!

I'm not big into fan art but GoT is back and I thought I would do a few of my fav characters. And since snakes have been the apparent theme lately here's a little Ellaria Sand. Also I missed the first episode. I'll do a more relevant character next time.

Managed to squeeze in one more experiment over the weekend.  This time I tried to be a bit more careful with the graphite so I wouldn't have to rely too much on photoshop. It gave me a good sense of stuff I wanna keep pushing in the future.
