I finally modified my Leon! I knew it was just a matter of time before I actually did it. It probably doesn't even make that huge of a difference in my photos, because I suck so badly at taking photos. However, IRL (and in my head) it makes a huge difference. He's never going to be an accurate sculpt, but I am happier every time I get him closer to my ideal version of a Leon S. Kennedy 1:6 action figure! (:

I only reduced a tiny little bit of the dropping lid, probably less than a mm in height and less than 3mm in length. Just on the left eye, since that's the only one that's visible all the time. The other one doesn't have as much droppage, so I didn't bother. I'm super happy I didn't f-it up, because my old lady shaky hands, were shaking more than usual the day I decided to sand off some of the dropping. I still could shave a bit more off, but I feel like I want to keep him like this for a while longer. Who knows, I might improve painting miniatures so, so much I might not need to mod him to make him look perfect! (; Lol!

If only sewing as "easy" as modifying things for me. I would trade sandpaper for a needle anytime! I am terrible at sewing, and I never cared about it before. Now, at this scale, I want to punch the wall! DX

More of my Leon's progress. I just cleaned the eyes a bit further, mostly made the sclera a bit lighter. I don't feel like they were that dark IRL, but they photographed super red and kind of dull, and that's not accurate, so I made them lighter. They seem a lot crappier in photos, than IRL. But, I'll leave them be for now. I can always redo his paint apps, a million more times if I need to! I am happier with him for now, so now I'll focus on his top, which is not going anywhere fast. T___T;;;

I am not a fan of how he looks w/his default sculpted hair, as that is really inaccurate and there's nothing, I can do about it, but I just added it to show how not good it looks. I suck at painting sculpted hair, so that's probably one reason why it looks bad. I'm still considering purchasing more hair to make a better partial wig, but I'm kind of torn about what hair color would work, and how to pick the right one through a computer screen.

I had the brilliant idea to attempt making the first try for his top, out of PVC fabric, which I knew was a huge mistake. Still, that's what I did! Now, I'll probably just try again without finishing that attempt, because I know it's going to be a nightmare putting it on the body. All the heaps of PVC fabric I own are non-stretch...>___>;;; I at least created a semi-useable pattern, so I can just attempt another top with different fabric. Problem is, I am not sure what to use, I hate to go with lycra, but that's probably what I'll have to do. I made one a million years ago, for my first custom RE4 1:6 Leon, but I didn't like how it looked nor photographed. It wasn't just my terrible sewing attempts, it's just not the right fabric. However, neoprene is out of the question since 1mm is the thinnest they make the fabric at, and that's way too bulky for a 1:6 action figure...DX

Step one: Planning. Figuring out how the shape should sit in the mould to minimize trapped air and casting/air channels in annoying places. Determine if it needs to be a two-part mould or if it can remain just one. Step two: Preparing. I decided on a one-piece mould, but if I were to just toss silicone all over the thing, the hollow tunnels would become a problem. So I put some eye putty/ poster buddy/ kneadable eraser or whatever you call it on side of each hole, pour in a tiny bit of silicone rubber and let it cure one by one. Then removed the putty, and coated that side with some release agent in order to have only one side stick to the rest of the mould. Step three: Embedded in leakage-free enclosure (lego walls with some putty on the bottom, pressed onto a ceramic tile) and poured silicone. Let it cure (I actually already moved on to step four and took it out before I remembered I should take a picture, so I put it back…hence the carving lines). Step four: De-moulding, carefully cutting out the original. The mould is now finished. Step five: Casting. Having carefully poured in the resin, rotating the mould a bit to make sure everything is coated and air got the chance to get out, set to cure. Made sure all tunnel bits were aligned properly and the carving lines closed. Step six: De-moulding the rough cast replica. All seam lines, air & casting channels are still attached. Step seven: Carved & sanded resin replica, next to the prototype! Doesn't it look nice? :)

I've been making more partial wigs for my Leon. I want to get more hair for them, but first I wanted to see if I liked any of the color choices, I already own. I don't have a lot of blonde colors, but I still have a bit left over from the DIM MNM Leon's wig I made, as well as what I used to make the sewn wig I repurposed and made this heads first partial wig out of. I also used some of the silver hair I had left from my DIM MNM Sephiroths' and Kadaj's wigs. I feel l want to give my Leon less brassy hair, which is what his OG DIM MNM wig was made from, very brassy-toned blonde hair. I want something less saturated, and leaning more towards dirty blonde. I might have already mentioned that somewhere. I would prefer my Leon with paler, less saturated blonde, hair. I know in the OG RE4 game he looks golden. Like he ha a golden tan going on, and his hair looks gold-blonde as well. However, I like the hi-res promos of his better, which make his hair in particular look more ash-blonde (dirty-blonde). So, that's what I want.

I feel like I would have been happy, if I could have made the lighter wig in the same shape and bulk of the brassy one... I suck at making wigs though, and these tiny partial ones are a huger pain in the lower back! DX

I didn't make these as neat, and clean as I would have liked, but it was a good learning experience. I still need to make much thinner wefts, and learn how to not over do the bulk. It's a pain in the gut hole, but I feel like I'm slowly getting there. I still need to get fabric for his tactical shirt, but first I want to make a few trial ones. Then, i might repaint him again, so that if I do get lighter hair for his "permanent" partial wig, he won't look as sun-burned (heavily-red-toned), and I might mod his eye area to be more accurate to OG-RE4 Leon. The artist made his eyes like this <--><-->, when they are supposed to be more like this OO. The droping top lid doesn't help...>__>;;;
