Fittingly for his full first name,he's a super bubbly person who's also optimistic,mischiveous,weird,self-confident and intense yet a calming presence to those around him due to his intentionally maternal nature and disposition and he's also an anarchist with a thirst for all kinds of chaos and no care for authority figures and enjoys causing problems for them.He's a lover of all cat-themed things,punk rock/nu metal/breakcore/hip hop music,bad for you food,petty crime,kidcore and cozy horror media

He's a Spring Dragon Slayer!!His dragon is Demeres,he's the eldest daughter of the Dragonfam and who brought them together on purpose so they could be a found family and like Igneel to Natsu,Demeres left him an item made of her scales to remember her by on July 7th X777:A pink and green hairclip.This with the above leads to a solarpunk motif

Demeres had connections to Mavis and Zeref through Hades:Hades became obsessively infatuated with her daughter,Persefone,and kidnapped her for experimentation which manifested in the invention of Lacrimas by Persefone after multiple failed attempts by Hades and Demeres rescued her with the help of Mavis and Zeref.Persefone died not very long afterwards due to the harm Hades did to her body and soul but managed to spread Lacrimas all over Earthland and taught lessons on how to make them and her soul haunted Tenrou Island with Mavis until Alcanogia's blast combined with Fairy Sphere broke her binding to it and she becomes the Fairy Tail guilds literal mascot

Demeres' connection to FT lead to him joining when he was 8.On the first day of spring,just as winter ended,Bubbles met Gray as he tried to find refuge in Magnolia and took him to the guild to make him pink hot chocolate.Gray thought Bubbles was an angel when he first saw him,what with the saving him and his features and overt softness and underlying mythism,and Gray cracked his egg with his own transmascness by being best friends with him because he's always been such a guy it just clicked.Bubbles' feelings for Gray took a bit more time to develop but by the end of the first month,he was just as gone as he'd always been

Natsu and Bubbles instantly latched onto eachother the literal second he stepped into his orbit,when Bubbles was sitting playing on the branches of a cherry blossom tree and Natsu went looking for him there because he'd been told there was another Dragon Slayer in Fairy Tail and instantly pointed at him and declared they were now siblings.Bubbles was flabbergasted until Natsu explained why with a big grin on his face and so he agreed enthutiastically.Gray and Natsu had a platonic rivalry over him at first,like who gets to be Bubbles' REAL best friend and Fullprosper(Gray x Bubbles)found an Exceed egg at the same time Nali did and they competed over who could hatch 'the better dragon'.They built their 'houses' across from eachother and Gray and Natsu had yelling matches and Bubbles played the housewife who provides the bread and Gray got a thrill out of pretending to be married to the crush he already knew he had.The Exceed that hatched was a lion they named Xangos and nicknamed 'Xani'.Xani is pretty much Cake The Cat,rightdown to how Pantherlily who's her love interest is kinda Lord Monochromicorn-coded LMAO

Bubbles' other closest childhood friends are Cana,who he and Gray used to be a team with as 'Odd Hots' before Team Natsu was formed,and Erza,who she shares a lot of the same tastes with and works as a foil to as they consider eachother 'Friends by Chance,Sisters by Choice' although Erza was one half of Bubbles' bi awakening(the other ofc was Gray).Odd Hots still hang out a lot and Bubbles created a special strawberry cake recipe for Erza out of love for her.Natsu and Bubbles were known as 'The Twin Dragons' before the title was transfered to Sting and Rogue during the timeskip but it was largely grounded in their similar apperances(light brown skin + brown eyes + pink hair)rather than going on missions as a duo,which they didn't often before FT's start and they have matching individual titles too:Salamander and Mantis

Bubbles took Lucy under his wing as a more experienced and wordly girl as she felt bad for her over her freakouts at everything coming from her sheltered upbringing and is given the number one source of fanservice role instead of her as he actually enjoys (tastefully) sexualizing himself and for gender equality /lh.Bubbles and Lucy do stereotypical girly girl things such as shopping sprees but specifically to thrift stores and he's the only one on Team Natsu who's constantly at her apartment out of invitation-Xani is an absolute pest to Lucy in contrast but Bubbles is completely oblivious to it and Xani hides it by scaring Lucy into not telling,to her dismay.This lessens when Pango(Pantherlily x Xango)happens and it's implied Xani just needed to get some to finally mellow out

Bubbles is the tritagonist of the series and was mentioned as far back as chapter 1.He was introduced handing Gray his shorts so he could cover himself up during the daily guild fight then casually walking around in his underwear for his and Lucy's first convo to her morification.He's an official mc starting in the Galuna Island arc and his character journey is learning to let himself be imperfect and cared for without feeling like a bad person and he's a frequent punk cultural humor provider and his powerup is nearly dying in The Dragonlands Arc(my 'Dragonfam parental reunions' fixit arc,greatly expanding on FTverse dragon lore and replacing the Irene copout)thanks to overusing to his Dragon Force,it covering him in moss-textured scales and turning his hair blue and white in addition to the natural black and pink and even poofier and longer and giving him extra rows of teeth and slited pupils,and going Third Generation via Persefone given Lacrima.He used to tag along with Laxus in his teenage years out of big bro worship and Wendy views Bubbles in a similar way he did him so they're a subtrio and Bubbles,Natsu,Sting and Rogue are a quartet as 'The Four Dragons' and an authentic friendship quartet thanks to their incredibly plot and character important bonding during and after The Grand Magic Games.The Dragonfam are t4t tism4tism found family realness and do stuff like going on fast food restaurant trips,cartoon marathon and game nights,arts and crafts/diy sessions,dragon cuddle piles,letting their dragon instincts loose,etc.Laxus is their father figure and he was reluctant at first but embraced it as character development and Bubbles made him a shirt that says 'Dilf'

Natsu's been calling him 'Bubs' for years so it caught onto his other loved ones,even Lucy after she got over how 'impolite' it is,but since Gray and him are romantic,he uses romance nicknames and they're so bad and cringe and he genuinely loves them.Highlights include 'Pancake','Glitter Goddess','Sweet Scale' and even 'Li B'(pronounced like 'Libby').Fullprosper was a series long 'only gets together in the final chapter' slowburn and Gray,Lucy and Juvia are the only ones aware they're in love the whole time-it's very blatantly obvious they are and everyone is too dumb as hell to see it so there's a running gag only Lucy sees they're a thing.She does Happy's 'they're in loooooooove' gag but they're all like 'no.i don't see it' no matter the context.Of course this combined with Bubbles' constant in-universe mistenterpretation for a cis girl leads to him and Natsu to be mistaken as a couple on the regular as meta cisheteronormativity and amatonormativity commentary as Natsu's aroace and an accompanying running gag is Gray jealousy fuel.To get the Fullprosper relathionship vision,it's best described as mutual pining childhood best friends to lovers + grumpy goth bf x bubbly pastel gf + power couple + undeniable smooth flirting on both ends neither somehow pick up on but melt over + undooming eachother from the narrative + cat4cat but opposite kinds

No Juvia personality erasure goes down and she keeps her creepy unemotive awkward girl swag and is a transbian that pulls tons of women but dosen't know how to date any of them.She's yet another Bubbles found sister and he got her and Gray to be friends by spending time with both of them at once and Juvia held a comical obsession with figuring Gray out to understand how he defeated her and is an unironic Fullprosper shipper,creating their couple name,and does shenanigans to try to get them together and she figures her lesbian dilema out by the end as she dates and eventually marries Lisanna with their romance starting at Tenrou Island and angst went down as a fallout of Lisanna also crushing on Edolas Juvia before she learned to see her Juvia.Bubbles gave Gajeel a hard time and literally dragged him to grandly apologize to Levy and forced him to do an apology care package for her too but fighting Laxus together with Natsu proved him to him and they call eachother 'Gaj' and 'Roots' and fuck random shit up as siblingisms and Carla assigns Bubbles her 'co-guardian' to Wendy

Bubbles' Edolas Variant is Buttercup Sunev,a dower and spiteful and sarcastic tradgoth lonewolf that abandoned Fairy Tail many years ago to be a nomad to cope with witnessing the torture followed by killing of Demeres at the hands of the Royal Military.Gray Sorloge still holds a torch for him and he crashes into the story when caught mid-mission by Lucy who mistakes him for Bubs and he's returned to his guild by the end of the arc

No 100 Year Quest,we write satisfying conclusions like gays!!None of the Dragon Parents died and Earthland and The Dragonlands are on their way to peace with the Dragonfam as ambassadors,Lucy is thee ultimate Celestial Spirit Mage,Erza is in full recovery from her ptsd,Gajeel and Levy are happily together but Levy was given her own subplot by showing her time on The Magic Council,Mirajane is the Fourth Guild Master and Fullprosper have an epilogue kid of ambigious gender named Wrenkenzie <3 2000s Deviantart oc ahh name on purpose!!

Asking you about your ska troll concept! They look so cool and I would love to learn more about them

@shadow-ray4 thank you for asking, genuinely was positive that no one would ask 😅😣 but I am HAPPY to share! To start here are the full refs I've done so far and explain as much of the concept as I've developed in my brain lmaooo (ALL MAJOR DEETS undercut cause its gonna be LONG)

@goldendaydna also helped with this and lowkey a concept we are semi working out since her sona Golden Tempo is an Urbano Troll (a recently named concept lol)

Ska Trolls are Big, Bright, and BOLD. Together, these elements create an energetic, highly danceable, highly vibe-able troll genre. They also explode into confetti and confections when excited or surprised. Dont worry they pop back up as if nothing even happened leaving a pile of candy and crepe paper on the ground. (Ska trolls are super popular with the kids.) They practically live for the music, known for dancing for several days straight with hardly a rhyme or reason to stop.

*Like even the smallest of surprises just make em POP! (Bonus Branch doodle cause why not??)

Adara, my sona, is a 4th Generation Ska Troll (her father being a 3rd Gen while her mama is a punk rock troll) so TECHNICALLY shes Ska-punk, but she still has the appearance of your standard Ska Troll so it's more a music specific.

Her great great grandparents being a reggae leaning funk troll and a rocksteady leaning funk troll who formed The Underground after being seemingly left behind along with other alt/subgenres of the main 6 kingdoms when they split. A place for alternative trolls like herself and her friends could live and PARTY HARD without micro judgments against their music. It's a haven for other trolls who feel they dont quite fit a specific genre or even one at all, but also HELLA secluded from the rest of the Trolls so they look different and SOUND different. (Cave acoustics and all) The surface likely gets trimmers and even earthquakes from their raging parties. (I'm still fleshing this out but I have this piece of "concept art")

*Its literally a bioluminescent shroom town. Like glowing mushroom homes, food, ect- glow worms on the cave ceiling like stars in a night sky. All the various alternative genre of trolls have like a glowy eye thing that allows them to just see naturally in the dark too-

Obviously I took most inspo from pinatas, party/confetti poppers, and the sorts mainly because the funk trolls poop...well. baked goods and I wanted to play off that but lean into the crazy evolution the trolls have canonically in the universe that foam at the mouth for 👀 🤲 But I wanted to make sure her colors and patterns gave off not just Funk influence, but also micro subculture influences that are within The Underground. (This including but not not limited to, how closely Ska Trolls were to the Urbano Trolls communities within The Underground)

They are bigger than the average Funk troll and have very similar features to them, but texture and color wise are very different. They much more vibrant and staturated. Giving a mix of felt and crepe paper. They have tails as sortve as an evolutionary trait but also it gives maximum party mode as it can hold objects and act as an extra hand. Their ears are also longer and slimmer, making it harder for them to lift or perk up so they stay droopy unlike their funk counterparts. They are all naturals at brass instruments (mainly trumpet) and ALWAYS have a hop in their step.

iselda's mom was a musician before her and would often take her on the road on all her vacations from school, cultivating within her a love for music. when it was time for school, she would stay with her dad. her parents never married and while they loved each other, never really committed in the sense of a traditional relationship, but successfully co-parented.

her mom wasn't a major celebrity but has what would be considered a cult following.

while iselda wanted to drop out at sixteen to pursue music, her parents urged her to stay in school. she eventually graduated early and actually took college courses, majoring in a degree in music. (specific field tbd).

during her time in college, she would often go to underground music clubs of all sorts. while she frequented the punk scene, iselda had a wide variety of interests and would clubs that hosted other music like jazz, funk, new wave, etc.

sometimes, she would be recognized by some of the scouts or older musicians that know her mom, and would be offered opportunities. while she was proud of her mom's career, she also wanted to branch out on her own and find a sound that was hers.

eventually, she would join a few bands/projects, subbing in for bass or drums. she played a variety of genres and had even gone on the road with bigger names for experience.

she also creates a lot of her bands' merch and merch for other bands. she loves sketching and has made shirts, totes, pins, posters, album covers, etc.

her first serious commitment was with the band, WOUND; an all girl's rock/funk band. they had an eclectic sound but often infused elements of funk in their music.

after some time (tbd), she leaves the band on good terms.

she takes this time apart to enjoy the freedom of travel on her own.

one night, at a show she attends, she watches drucilla (@/foolisheart) perform, captivated by her stage presence and her music. they later strike up a friendship and eventually become a band together.

1980s Power Pop Playlist

Folks, we've got a brand new tune that kicks off this playlist now, and its own title might as well be the four-word credo that really essentializes the power pop genre as a whole: "Fuck Art Let's Dance," by a British band called The Name.

Sometimes you really just gotta stop taking all of this music stuff so damn seriously all the time and come to appreciate the mass-appealing pleasures of tried and true simplicity. British Invasion bands like The Beatles and The Who may have made significant artistic progress since their earlier works, but that was no reason to leave the vibe of that early stuff behind. What's already been done is no longer fresh, but some of the formulas that were used back in those early-to-mid-60s days were proven to have been pretty golden, and a late 70s-to-mid-80s crop of rockers who had grown up with those early British Invasion records on their radios had their hearts set on bringing it all back to the fore. So, fuck art, let's dance!

While this little playlist once had a combination of songs that were mostly from the indie stalwart Bomp! Records branch of American power pop and mid-to-late 80s stuff from the C86-UK indie/twee pop label Subway Organisation, it now adds a bunch of tunes that preceded that British indie pop wave too, from a pretty big subculture called mod revival. Helmed by The Jam, who used the same iconic blue, white, and red 'target' as The Who for their own band logo, mod revival was an insular scene that really took off after The Who's Quadrophenia movie came out in 1979, instilling in UK teenagers and twenty-somethings a deep desire to emulate the Vespa-riding lifestyle that the film itself had depicted. Essentially, mod revival mixed a new wave and punk rock sound with the 60s mod sound of yesteryear, but if we're going to generalize it, it was really, for the most part, a regionally specific variant of power pop.

So in addition to "Fuck Art Let's Dance," a catchy-as-shit song with only a little over 10,000 plays, we've got another couple mod revival bops too, like the soft, dreamy, and keyboard-infused "One Step Ahead" by a band called The Stripes, which only has a little over 6.2K plays. And I added a couple other tunes from Bomp! and Subway Organisation too, with "I'll Get Lucky" by SoCal power pop heroes The Plimsouls, which has 39.3K plays, and the much more obscure "Do It Again" by Clockwork Orange-referencing UK band Korova Milk Bar, which only has a little over 6.2K plays.

And then for the YouTube version of this playlist, I was able to add all the songs that were added to the Spotify one too, plus a handful of some more mod revival tunes that aren't on Spotify at all. And I don't think that I have a total favorite among this YouTube-only set, but The Scene's super bouncy "Hey Girl" is so irresistibly catchy and deliberately simple, from both musical and lyrical standpoints, that it almost sounds like it could be from the 60s itself, which I don't think can be said about any other song in this playlist. Really seems like these guys took the term 'mod revival' quite literally with this record of theirs, and for those who might be keeping track, this is The Scene who hailed from Bradford in West Yorkshire, and not the other UK mod revival band called The Scene who were from East London 😅. "Hey Girl" is nearing 27.7K plays.

Also added a tune from The Groove Farm, a band that was on Subway Organisation, and whose "Crazy Day Sunshine Girl" is criminally short, but makes its 45 seconds really count. And that one's only got 53 plays as of right now!

Fossil Novembirb, the first nine days

Hello World. I never thought I'd be on this site, but here I am. This blog was created for the purpose of participating in a-dinosaur-a-day's Fossil Novembirb. Fossil Novembirb is a yearly art event founded by Meig Dickson, a vertebrate palaeontologist who, as far as I can tell, studies dinosaurs, especially theropods. Don't fight me or em over birds being theropod dinosaurs. Neither ey nor I want to have this conversation, so enjoy the art!

I started off my Fossil Novembirb with Vegavis iaai. What makes this fluffy anseriform special is that we found a fossilised syrinx (avian voice-maker) belonging to one of these, so we can reconstruct their sounds. This Vegavis was coloured based on a bunch of anseriforms that are alive today, like ruddy shelducks and cotton pygmy geese.

For Day 2, I did a bit of spec evo and pulled out a scientific name I told myself I'd assign to a newly-discovered fossil genus. This sketch has a Serina-like text description for Phantasmavis.

Tropicbirds! I chose to draw Clymenoptilon because I was hoping "tropicbird" meant "brightly coloured bird". Even though they aren't that brightly coloured, they're still cool. And Kumimanu (approximately to scale in this drawing) didn't really have the obligation to be black-and-white like most extant penguins (because Inkayacu), so I went... mild-wild with the colours.

No... one's... tall like Gastornis, no one calls like Gastornis! In the bottom right, no one feeds small like Gastornis!

I've seen the "Andy's Prehistoric Adventures" episode featuring these megafowl, realised it was Walking With Dinosaurs with a human inserted, and drawn a mildly speculative colouration for these Gastornis. To the left, two adults have their necks out towards each other and are calling into the sky. Whether this is courtship or a challenge, nobody knows. But a calmer scene happens in the bottom right, where a mother shows her chick red berries on a branch to show them that it is food.

"Don't make me fly up there, you punk!" is one way to interpret the screamerduck Anachronornis' call in the direction of the Primoptynx owl. This scene unfolds in the Palaeocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum ecosystem of the Willwood Formation before it was rock.

It's a twilight hummingswift! We know the colour of this iridescent little birb from the Danish Fur Formation. I watched a tutorial on painting iridescence, but I'm not really satisfied with the parent feeding their chick to the left of the flying Eocypselus rowei. It's hard to see, but there's a baby hummingswift being fed a Cimbrophlebia scorpionfly.

London Clay has a lot of plant fossils. Not all of them are listed on Wikipedia, but there's a photo of a pencil-root mangrove seed listed. Featuring a speculatively-coloured Eotrogon, a Dasornis carrying away a mackerel, and a Prophaeton just gliding, and repeat telecasts Gastornis parisiensis and Eocypelus rowei, Eocene London was a birder's dream (believe me, I'm a kinda-birder).

This Tynskya art was somewhat late, rather dissatisfactory, and mildly rushed. I had an exam the next day. Don't judge me.

And here's a better Primozygodactylus! I couldn't tell the specific species because it wasn't listed for the Wikipedia image. But here we are: a bird that gives off ashy prinia/sparrow/orange-headed thrush vibes.

This concludes the first nine days! I don't know if I'll be doing the tenth because nobody's giving me straight answers about the palaeobotany of the Green River formation.

im kind of unbelievably horrible at knowing music genres, let alone trying to assign specific genres to characters but i’ll try my best 😭 guys plz dont cook me if its bad im not that big of a musichead plz plz

Anyways. firstly, since minato and kotone both canonically listen to the p3 ost, i can assign them hip hop/rap/pop off rip. if it’s in their playlist, i think we can gather that they enjoy it.

minato - alt rock, pop punk, gothwave, video game osts. i say video game osts bc i yhink minato would like sitting around in a video game afk just to listen to the background music. i dont think minato is a goth but i feel as if gothwave has a sound he’d find enjoyable

kotone - alt rock, hip hop/rap, pop rock. she loves to lip sync to it and u can hear the song she’s lip syncing to bc i also know kotone probably turns her volume to max so loud you’d think she’ll damage her ears someday if not soon

Something More?

I've been getting feelings of...something lately. Perhaps it's nothing new. Perhaps it's just something more intense. But I can't help but notice patterns and connecting dots that are trying to tell me something.

All of this, the world, the country, my own physical symptoms. The mental anguish of it all. Retrospectively, looking back at my life feels so...foggy and inconsistent. I’m not sure what I’m talking about specifically. But the music I've been listening to then, who I was then, what the world for me was then. It feel...I don’t know. Just not right. Maybe just in retrospect. Was I hiding something an inability to be honest?

The Normal Did Me No Good

Conflict. Trying to be normal. Or exceed a certain demand for society. Abstaining from certain things. Certain shows, movies, actions, colors, clothes. Of course that would show its cracks in subtle ways. How my taste in music evolved, my exploration with myself in what I wouldn't understand was a gender thing until years later.

Something more lies bellow. I know something or some things are being uncovered. And I know a something is guiding me towards these things. Was I meant to come here?

Music Had An Influence

Music is important in this aspect. I noticed a pattern in my music taste maybe even taste in art a little. Much of the music I listen to have melodic or lyrical patterns I boiled it down to: resilient, melancholic, romantic. They were further categorized into:

Resilience: resolutive, revelational, groovy, hopeful, free

Melancholic: haunting, disassociative, absurd, disturbing

Romantic: Dreamy, nostalgic

Some of these can overlap. But the point is, music is associated with certain modes of thought patterns and feelings. As well as any other stimuli in the environment of course.

I’m not sure where I’m going with this. But the resilience and romantic parts are of importance here. As much of what I listened to back in the day was indie folk. Fleet Foxes. Or Of Monsters and Men. My taste in music would branch off to greater territory as I got older. Ranging from American Primitivism, other Americana genres, funk, rock, noise, soul, prog-rock, post-punk, post-rock, ambient, I could go on.

How Music Tied My Identity Toegether

But there's somethings that tie things together. Some feeling. It's like a tragic optimism I get. And a feeling of trying to get into the "groove" of things. I consider myself a hopeless romantic for certain things. My music exemplifies this.

But this feeling, it doesn't just exist in vaccum. It's a very real feeling deep inside. I’m in search of freedom and to let go of the past. To find something new. That's what ties these together. I mourn when I feel like I can't be free, I let the absurdity course through me, but oftentimes I just want to run and let everything go. The last part, even just uttering it creates a sense of something strong. It's pleasurable but sad.

So I want to "run and be free". What does that mean? Well I’m getting hints of it. In terms of identity. I’m building something. Perhaps I should have been able to build it much earlier. But, now is all I have. It feels...wrong and childish. Why now? Why not then?

When I look at childhood, and my teenage to young adult years I think of that as somebody else. How could that be me? Who was that? But they're not gone. They're still here. They come out sometimes, just differently.

My Search For Alternative Forms of Identity

I want something new. I’m unsatisfied. I want to find things deeper within myself. Craft my own belonging. I think the hints are in the music. See, gender is close, but there's something more. Belonging? Alternative forms of identity?

I cant do capitalism, hyperindividualism, white culture, cisheteronormativity. And I’m starting to wonder, if I can't even do human either. Maybe I can't do human in a semi sense. I’m not sure.

But these things, they can't just disappear overnight especially since it all groomed me. Which is why I haven't been able to let go of certain aspects of myself. It's reconciliation, maybe it's mourning. Because I’m killing the old me. This might take a life time.

Identifying With Being a Furry

Anyway, I've had this realization the other day about being in the furry fandom. I realized I can't relate to other furries in the fandom. To them, it's just a hobby, or maybe it's just a place to be an alter ego. To them it's escapism. But for me...it's the opposite of escapism. It's a critical part of identity formation.

Furries get this heightened sense of ego, or this exaggeration of a cartoon character that feels inauthentic. Like you have to be "UwU wholesome" or some shit. I can't do that. This is not what I get out of the furry fandom.

To some it's just a valid form artistic creativity, and this is much closer to how it feels but not close enough. No it's more than that it's identity. I identify with my fursona. Maybe not as, but with. Like all things with identity, this could change.

This makes sense that I would identify with my fursona. Because I’m very protective of it. I quite frankly, don’t even know what my fursona looks like. Which is why I’m learning to draw. I’m wanting to keep throwing shit at it and watch this thing evolve. Right now it's just floating in my head. I know basic ideas of it.

My Conflict With The Furry Fandom

So this puts me at odds with the fandom at large. I can't relate to a damn person in it. Because to them it's just hobby. It really is more than hobby for me. It's legit part of who I am. So what's the difference between a hobby and identity?

I think there's overlap. A hobby is a part of someone's identity, full stop. But it's not all of who they are. An identity may be a CRUCIAL part of somebody and still have room for "it's not all who they are". Gender, is it hobby or identity? It's a crucial aspect of somebody so it's a big part of who they are, still not ALL they are.

Most furries are hellbent on disconnecting themselves from it being identity. But that doesnt make sense to me. It's still part of identity formation. And if being a furry is all a person is, who cares? I think of many of the great musicians still living today from the 60s-70s, all their life is music. What's wrong with that? Again, it's not all. But it's a MAJOR part of identity to them. They're still out there doing concerts. So why do I identify with being a furry?

Why Identify With Being a Furry?

Because it resembles a higher place of being. It's that freedom I spoke of earlier. The desire to just run free. At deep spirtual level, I can feel my sona playing around in my head. It's like a part of who I am, who I should be. Taking my hand and guiding me. It's not something thought of all the time. But in certain contexts, it gets called upon. As the day ends and I lay in bed, I think of it and where it's taking me. It's potential untapped. It's the best self I could be, it keeps me going every day. Because this part of me is so important. It's authenticity.

Forever I just felt so dishonest with myself. But this makes me feel like I could finally. I kept denying liking furry art forever, and noticing how much people were just so different in a cool way. When I invited that into my life finally I still felt disatsifed because of the ego flexing, and this bullshit idea of "escapism"

Escapism Vs. Idealism, It's Neither

It's really not escapism, it's a valid part of forming culture, identity, belonging, community. It's not so much a hobby as it is an aspect of the self that just varies from person to person. That's why I’m not a caricature when I think of my fursona. It literally is me, or "hyperme".

I’m not escaping anything. I’m recognizing the reality of the world, I’m taking that with me and I’m understanding it through the lens of my fursona. Escapism is just too dangerous in a time like this. Which is why these alternative forms of identity may be needed. It opens the door to untapped potential in a hostile human world.

Is it idealism? I don’t think so. We transform our world through our actions. The material world enters our mind, we make sense of it, we test it, and go through the cycle again. Part of identity is understanding this relationship for me. Part of what has influenced it has been others I've associated with. It's only natural to mimic what others do, you both form each other.

Alterhuman?

I’m now wondering if this is just alterhuman feelings. Because this need, desire for something above now is so strong. I find peace in many of these worlds I imagine myself in. I can't get it out of being human. Not that it ain't human, it's in the name, alterhuman.

I just don’t know what it is. I've been experimenting with "it" as a pronoun with a friend who also uses "it". And it feels fairly neutral. Maybe it feels like I’m less associated with the aspects of being human I don’t like. It helps disconnect myself from human for a while. Even if it's just feeling.

I've spent some time in alterhuman spaces, whether I’m trying to find belonging, or this is genuine curiosity about myself, or the act of me being in those spaces is imposing an idea about me I won’t know. But it doesn't invalidate it either. Again, we're molded by who we associate with.

There is something about it that does feel much closer. Maybe because it's just so niche? It's hard to pinpoint. But the urge to just jump to something different is so intense. I've felt it and denied it for years and years. Not specifically alterhuman per se. But just a general sense.

Alterhuman, Neurodivergency, and Guidance

So my doctor really thinks I’m on the spectrum. I think we can take this as some indication as to why being human just didn't feel too right. And oftentimes my ability to just relate to others feels like I’m associated with aliens.

So things like queerness and alterhuman come in to help explain these things. Of course I could just go "oh it's my autism that just makes me feel like this and it's wrong to feel like that, so I'll stop". But I’m not that.

Instead, alterhuman, queerness. It's all tools to navigate the world for an autistic individual. But more than that it's integral aspect of identity for when the norm doesnt fit.

I’m not falling down that scientism trap. That whole thing with scientism, rationalism, functionalism, modernity is all interesting. And I want to get into that more at some point.

But the point is, reducing things down to an actual scientific explaination is just not helpful. Science and certain authoritative fields needs to stay out of subjective and intersubjective experience. Not that they can't provide explainations, just that they can't dictate individual experience. Especially in context with the dominant culture as a "default" mode of being. Side rant over.

Conclusion

I’m still experimenting, trying to understand parts of myself. It's all going to take time. But I know I’m close to something. And I need to keep moving. I really feel as though alterhuman might make sense for me.

All of these things, feeling scripted growing up, having these physical stuff happen, finally unmasking. I feel like I’m more able to see another portion of myself I wasnt aware of. Even if it still remains a haze. Time will tell...

Madison: Music isn't really as big of a thing for her! She lived out in the woods for five years, so she's a little out-of-touch when it comes to what's popular. She listens to some 60s-era pop music, though that's mostly through osmosis from others at the X-Mansion

Normally the Ars Goetia weren't one to participate in the activities wrought by Sinners, but this had been a very special case. More specifically, one particular branch of the family had shown up on the behest of one of it's children, Hypnos...

Thus, among the crowds, in one of the more exclusive booths of the theater sat four of the demonic royalty. Khonos and his wife Nyx, and their twin sons.. Hypnos and Thanatos.

Through-out the performance, applause indeed came from the royals, though Hypnos was certainly the most enthusiastic of the bunch, clapping and cheering after each gorgeous dance.

'Impressive for a Sinner. They always find some way to bring something inspiring to Hell.' Khronos, a stoic owl looking demon, who's fathers have long since begun to grey at the tips spoke solumly, peering out across the crowd in await for the finale.

'It's about time their more.. intrinsic arts made their way to the forefront, to be fair.' Nyx responded, more elegant than her husband, a radiant avian demon with deep dark feathers and purple tints, as if she was plucked from the night sky itself.

'Ehh.. not my scene, but it's not bad.' Thanatos grumbling. He was more for the mosh pits and screaming of punk rock bands.

"Well I'm thoroughly enjoying the performance, I do hope this is a sign for Miss Camilla to host more in the future." He clapped along with the crowd in await for the next dance.
