Okay, y’all! It’s time for another night of Chibi watches with Voltron Force! Let’s do this!
Episode 14 has me appreciating VF, much like VLD, with showing different aliens. And not just saying “yes, this is a different planet, but they all look like humans from Earth.” There are so many visuals! I mean, we see them in other episodes, but it just keep appreciating these details more and more.  Ah, Larmina. How do you get her attention? Music. Especially a music festival.  And then they mentioned Stereolactic. I recognized that name thanks to this art drawn by lion-time that I saw! And now I understand what Stereolactic is.  I adore the cadets geeking out over Pidge knowing Sterolactic. That’s just cute! And Pidge explaining that Stereolactic doesn’t exist, only a DJ, it made me think of this thing with Hatsune Miku. Who apparently was just a fictional character but had concerts or something? Yeah, that.  And seeing Stereolactic, something about the appearance made me think of Daft Punk. I dig it.  It’s also adorable that Pidge loves his work as Voltron over being the DJ. That’s sweet. He loves his work and team! When the robeast was up, I was thinking they either needed Vince to help neutralize the haggarium or Daniel and Larmina to take the robeast down from the inside. A bit of both, they needed all three. And Vince giving Voltron the green center. Perfection!
Okay, let’s move on to episode and 15 and see the return of the Hunkyard vehicles. All repaired, shiny, new and... making their own baby Voltron? Didn’t see that coming. But it worked well! Awesome! That Arusian anchovy is still alive I think. No thank you. It’s sweet that the cadets got to take a road trip to Earth and Larmina is getting to enjoy her time. Poor kid didn’t get a fun childhood of friends and goofing off. And that kid. Dudley? DID NOT TRUST HIM FROM THE GETGO! His determination to be Voltron’s biggest fan was kind of off putting. Though it was amusing to see his collection, the perfect visual of DotU. And him going after Vince and Daniel in his Voltron replica. At least Larmina returned. After having fun and social time with other kids.  Also, on Arus. Finding the black lion after he takes off. Lance: “I haven’t been this bored since Pidge’s last tutorial.”  Pidge: “Hey!” Oh my gods, guys. They feel like an old married couple! Their teasing, comments, and whatnots reminds me of my folks! You guys were right! VF Plance! Okay, I’ll go get my watering can. Gotta water the garden and these plance. Also, good on the kids for remembering to bring back pizza. Even better? For the whole team! Even Keith has a slice as he stand on Black’s head.
I have been waiting for episode 16. Someone in a discord server mentioned it to me because of my love of Pidge and Chip being twins and working with such in VLD for AU purposes. I actually tried watching it before, probably last year, but didn’t get far for whatever reasons. But here I am, getting to enjoy this episode. I cry a bit, though, because the twineractions are minimal.  Pidge: “I think they’re trying to tell us something.” Baltons: “Braaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaainsssssssssss” Did no one make a quip about the zombies starving with part of the team? I don’t think I heard any remarks about that. It would have been hilarious if Pidge just looked to Lance and said “Looks like you’re safe.” That would have been the best! Poor Vince, listing movie tropes, fears, bad things. He’s having a crisis. Poor baby.  And Pidge’s voltcom with the smart stars is pretty damn cool. I like it! And the Balton pinned to the wall and asking “Brains?” I snorted so hard at that, it hurt. I was just grateful I wasn’t drinking anything at that moment.  I had hoped Chip would be okay and end up joining up with Vince and Pidge to help them out. That would have been so sweet and awesome. It would have been nice to see the twineraction and them being badass ninjas. But, alas.  It’s a good thing Voltron accepts pilots a bit more easily so Larmina can pilot Green. And her excitement and work with kung fu voltron to fight Lotor. Get wrecked, Lotor! Poor Chip is confused about what happened. Though his excitement in seeing Hunk was cute! Also, ancient Baltons having a hand in the original Voltron program? Intriguing!
Ah! What a lovely night to watch Voltron! And I enjoyed it! Still put out on the lack of twineractions. It would have been so nice to see more. I want twin content.
Anyway! That bit it for the night!  Until next time!

Thanks!!! :D I’ll also put the rest under a cut because one just does not simply write short texts.

DIE ÄRZTE ASK GAME (click to the ask game!):
1. Wie & wann bist du auf DÄ gekommen?
It was in April 2009. My dad was on a German course and the book had “Männer sind Schweine”. The teacher (who was also later my German teacher!) liked dä so she played the song to them and my dad who’s very much into music, liked what he heard and at home of course searched for more. He then asked me (and my siblings) to come downstairs to his room because he wanted to showe us something - and it was the music video of Junge because he found it hilarious and the music really great.
At first I wasn’t sure what to think but said I could try listening to them, so then my dad started downloading and bringing me music on USB sticks all day every day until he got everything downloaded, and I just added stuff to my mp3 player whenever I got more songs. I did not speak German at all so at first I was pronouncing the name very much incorrectly (you know, “die” as in English), and sometimes I kinda miss it how I just saw a bunch of gibberish on my mp3 player screen. I still remember being in a work training at a horse stable and shoveling hay to a wheelbarrow, and my strongest memory is about the album Geräusch and I will always associate Anti-Zombie with this one horse box I was cleaning and it’s possible that I got obsessed with this album so that I started the day with it and was always cleaning the horse boxes in the same order. But I only remember Anti-Zombie and how I just suddenly realized that this song is one of the best I have EVER heard. (It still is! And Geräusch was my favorite album for a very long time and it’s still my favorite 2000s album.)
***
7. Lieblings-Bandmitglied?
I don’t really have a favorite? Like, musically I like Farin’s songs the most but some of my ultimate favorite songs come from Rod, too, like Anti-Zombie, T-Error, Geisterhaus (I think the best Rod songs are on Geräusch and those are some of the best dä songs overall as well), Mondo Bondage, Morgens Pauken, Sohn der Leere, Bang Bang (Instrumental)... I bet there’s also great 90s songs but I just forgot about everything again. Anyhow, I’ve never been that much into Bela’s songs. He has many really great ones too, but usually my favorite Bela songs are those that Rod has written with him. Which also explains why I’ve never been that fond of Bela’s solo music (I own the first two albums) and why I like FU/FURT the most from these two. I can’t say anything about Rod’s solo stuff or other bands as I have never listened to those, but I’m very much into movie scores and kinda interested in hearing what his movie scores sound like but I’m lazy and have memory issues and motivation issues so I don’t know more than that. (But I wish he did more songs for dä, I miss the times when he still had more than just 1-2 songs on an album. Although, I never witnessed the release of those albums but still :D)
But if this question is about them as people, then I guess it’s Bela and because I’ve just always been so amazed by his open-mindedness, you know? Like, he seems so genuine and caring and that he has had his feet on the ground at all times? (Or if he didn’t when he was younger, then he has learnt from that and can see that now, at least from what I have read from the books.) A while back I had an ask (to an ask game) on my mainblog, to choose between Bela and Farin and that post got a bit longer and you can find a deeper answer to this from that one. But let’s just say I tend to get super protective over Bela if anyone dares to claim he hasn’t always been as open-minded as what he now seems to be :D
Farin is way too similar to me and even tho he’s very relatable, especially what comes to the sense of humour, I still don’t agree on everything he says or does. And too much is too much. About Rod I don’t know enough because he doesn’t speak much and when he does, I usually don’t understand what he says because he (and Bela) is sometimes really bad at articulating and as a German learner it’s very difficult to make sense of anything he (or they) say sometimes. AN ex-friend once claimed I don’t know anything about Rod because I simply just don’t care about him and like..... no??? Also I don’t control it what my brain finds interesting, but I swear that one day I’m gonna read both dä books from cover to cover and I’m not gonna skip anything and then I’ll know more about Rod too.
***
9. Ein Lied, mit dem du viel verbindest?
“Allein”, definitely. Do you know that feeling when you listen to music, an album or song you have listened to so many times before, and then suddenly something just... hits and you hear a song the way you have never heard it before and you’re overwhelmed and mindblown? Yeah, that’s what happened to me with Allein. I don’t remember the exact year when that happened but I remember I was sitting in my car at a grocery store’s parking lot, listening to music and waiting for someone from my family to come out of the store.
Wait I actually found a post from my old Finnish blog from April 2010 about this song and the moment when it hit me!!! The post says the song became my favorite from Jazz ist anders! when I heard it for the first time, and this moment^ was the first time I read it lyrics and the first time ever I felt that lyrics also meant something to me. I was not able to translate anything myself yet but I found the song with English subtitles form youtube (now deleted) and that’s how I understood the story in the song.
So, I was almost 19 and relating to “Allein” a lot. Now it’s almost 11 years later and I’m (still) 29 and I STILL relate to this song so much and now also to the career part because I literally have been working with horses for over 10 years and have been studying them and I’m not sure why and now I don’t know if I even want to do this for the rest of my life or not. Idk, maybe it’s a bit sad too that for the past 10 years I have related to this song this much when it’s about loneliness... but it just doesn’t seem to end, idk if it will ever end, to be honest.
***
I would say the music after the reunion, but I’m also really fond of their 80s music, especially the self-titled album. I was lucky enough to find the original -86 release on vinyl, in perfect condition even, and you don’t understand how much that record means to me. I hate the song Geschwisterliebe and I will always skip that (especially now as I am able to follow lyrics from audio somewhat) but I still refuse to own a version of the album without that song. So that record really is very dear to my and my treasure and I sometimes take it out just to look at it and to be happy about the fact it’s MINE.
But anyway, to answer this question, I think I have to answer that I like the post-reunion music more because the 90s is my favorite dä time of all times. Planet Punk is still my fave dä album EVER, 13 is also a favorite, and I love Die Bestie, and all the interview and live and other video material from the 90s is also something I never get tired of watching. Maybe it’s because I was born in 1991 and 90s was my childhood so it feels familiar and safe? I don’t know. But I tend to be drawn to 90s music with all bands I like and if those bands have had a 90s phase. I guess there’s something about the 90s punk rock that I just like that also dä has.
***
16. Was macht Die Ärzte besonders?
Does this mean “what makes dä special”? Well, I’m gonna answer to that anyway even if it doesn’t mean that :D So I would say it’s the variety they have in their songs. They have loads of songs and albums and I still haven’t heard one song that would sound like some other song of theirs. (Apart from Hell, it has several songs that remind me of their older songs and I haven’t decided yet if that’s good or bad.)
There’s also pretty much something for everyone - which might also backfire because I actually knew someone who likes dä too but somehow we happened to like the opposite songs only. Like, you both can be fans and still not agree on favorite songs or even favorite albums or eras. It’s weird. So it feels like “yay we like the same band!!!” but in the end you don’t have anything in common because you don’t like the same things even within one band’s music...
For me dä is special because when I found about them, I was no longer actively searching for new music to listen to. And still they did and somehow all that diversity in their music was insane. Like, the singer’s voice is super important for me and I have turned down so many bands just because I don’t like the singer’s voice or singing style, and somehow this band has three singers and I like ALL OF THEM. Like, what are the odds??? So after getting used to their songs and learning song and album names and other stuff, I literally felt that I had actually found the music that has everything I need from music. I didn’t need to look for the best band ever because I already found it, no other band can top them, a band that would make better music than die ärzte just simply does not exist. And I’m totally happy with that which is why it took me years to even start listening to new music and new bands because I just didn’t need them anymore, I already had dä, you know. I was told (by the same ex-friend who said I just don’t care about Rod) that no band is superior than others but this person refused to understand when I tried to explain that they are superior to ME. And they are superior to me and I don’t give a fuck if others think I’m wrong, it’s my opinion and my favorite band and I have a right to say that they are the best band ever if they are the best band ever for me.

@mikey-putrid and I have this weird little desert town we created called Halflight and I want to share some of the character blurbs we wrote for the citizens
Notable Locations Within Halflight
-Halflight General Hospital
-Halflight Public Library
-Halflight Grammar School
-Halflight Town Hall
-The Flock and Feather
-Dragon's Keep Games and Comics
-Feline Good
-Pins N' Needles
-Ink Addicts
-Rose's Antiques
-Theodore's Oddities and Enchantments
-Kelly's Judo Club
-New to You
-Sunny Valley Nursing Home
Dr. Elsie O'Dalaigh, 54: The town's most beloved doctor. Her dry wit and eccentricities may put you off at first, but she's a very warm and wise woman and should you fall ill or find yourself hurt, you will be in good hands. She's originally from Dublin and has a fair number of stories to tell from her wild youth in Ireland. She has an affinity for all things macabre but especially spiders. You might find her dozing off on her porch swing or enjoying a cup of tea with a friend. You're always welcome to join her and her spouse for dinner.
Dr. Ivan Vasilevsky, 39: A sickly doctor who recently came to town from New York City because the air quality was better for his lungs. He's very brilliant but hardly friendly and very private. Because he's fairly well known, patients come from across the country seeking his care. The only person he seems friendly with is his nurse, Cameron.
Dr. Andre Jimenez, 34: An anthropomorphic parrot surgeon at Halflight General Hospital. He's a total social butterfly and loves to talk, talk, talk. He has trouble keeping secrets and falls into gossip frequently. He's well liked by all his colleagues, all but Dr. Vasilevsky that is.
Johnathan "Johnny" Ross, 20: A cowardly and sensitive young man with a passion for piercing. Though only an apprentice, he's very knowledgeable about body modification and keeps his own piercings immaculate. His motorcycle is also kept in pristine condition. He's also quite shy and is hardly ever seen without his girlfriend, Loretta.
Venus Estelle, 31: A laid back frilled lizard woman that claims to see the future through the smoke from her pipe. She's very transparent and sees no reason to keep secrets about herself. She has nothing to hide. She has a passion for music and plays drums in a local punk band, The Heart Electric.
Kaisei "Kai" Kelly, 56: A very stoic and serious judo instructor. His father was a boxer in Ireland and ever since childhood, Kai has been enthralled by martial arts. He fancies himself a train enthusiast and has a large collection of model trains in his home. His serious nature and brute strength can make him rather intimidating but his husband Rodney finds him cute. He visits his family in Kyoto every spring.
Rodney Kelly, 59: The gym teacher at Halflight Grammar School. Originally from Edinburgh and standing a diminutive 5'2", Rodney more than makes up for his height with personality. He's encouraging, kind, hyperactive and loud. Very, very loud. Fitness has always been an important part of his life, even at nearly 60. He does his best to make gym class a fun place for all instead of a source of bullying and stress for those who don't like team sports.
Jeremy Fox, 19: A brilliant college student neck deep in conspiracy theories. He's very paranoid and distrusting, often to his detriment. He wants to prove to his professors that aliens exist though none of them will give him the time of day. When he isn't studying or trying to prove his theories, he can be found practicing his bass guitar or stargazing. He and his older sister like to unwind by smoking pot and watching sci-fi movies. He's one of Johnny's closest friends.
Jodie Fox, 23: Jeremy's cheerful, supportive yet ditzy older sister and roomate. She let him move in with her after their parents kicked him out for being gay. She doesn't understand a lot of what he talks about but she's happy he's passionate about something. Her bedroom is filled with Care Bears merchandise and colorful collectibles. She's rarely seen without her sticker covered roller skates. The two siblings live in the apartment right above Johnny and Loretta.
Sunny McIntyre, 30: An anthro horse gym rat and fitness trainer. Her cheerfulness is contagious and her motherly nature makes her easy to talk to. Her thick southern drawl might make it hard to understand her though. She always looks on the bright side and doesn't have a pessimistic bone in her body. In addition to being a die hard Bon Jovi fan, she enjoys fishing, hiking and hunting. She also hosts a transgender support group at her house.
Junichiro Oguma, 46: An overworked and underpaid pharmacy technician. Though very good at what he does, he isn't really a people person. He's rather grumpy and has little patience for foolishness. He's infamously difficult to work with due to his perfectionism. He holds himself to ridiculously high standards and gets upset easily when he fails to meet his own expectations. His wit is drier than the desert itself.
Edward Dowler, 68: A retired illustrator living comfortably at the Sunny Valley Nursing Home. He takes his sketchbook everywhere and may sheepishly ask you if you would mind posing for a portrait. He's a gentle soul and a firm believer in the power of pacifism. He's very close to his adopted daughter and three grandsons.
Joanne Lawrence, 47: The owner of Joanne's Diner. She bought the place almost 20 years ago and turned it into a comfortable, 1950's style diner popular among bikers and travelers. She's very blunt and hates wasting time but if you treat her well, she'll treat you well. Threaten her livelihood however and you will pay dearly. Regulars might call her Mama because she takes such good care of them.
Dennis "Moose" Bowen, 52: The cook at Joanne's. He's a people pleaser and will do whatever a customer asks to make sure they enjoy their meal. Hearing someone say they didn't like his food is like a knife through the heart. He prefers to stay in the background and not call too much attention to himself. Joanne calls him Moose because of his large size.
Hilda "Mouse" Calhoun, 21: A demon waitress at Joanne's. Contrary to what you might believe, she's very down to earth and sweet. She's not here for souls or bringing you to damnation, she just wants to serve pancakes and save money for beauty school. Her petite build makes her the Mouse to Dennis's Moose.
Wally Mack, unknown but born before 1956, mentally and physically around 21-24: A living humanoid shadow that can usually be found on a wall at Joanne's. He's chatty and perky and loves to dance. He's able to interact with others through their shadows. If Wally was to touch your shadow's shoulder, you would feel it. He likes to play harmless pranks on Dennis.
Tiffany "Tiff" Cain, 25: An anthropomorphic eagle bartender at her father's restaurant, The Flock and Feather. She also volunteers to work with children with special needs on weekends. She's very patient and a daredevil at heart. Her straightforward, casual attitude makes guests comfortable and keeps them coming back. She may be seen skateboarding around town.
Hisao Nakajima-Stewart, 33: The recently appointed head librarian at Halflight Public Library. He's rather sarcastic and moody but becoming a father has softened him up. He's very passionate about high fantasy and hosts Dungeons and Dragons sessions at his house every week. He spoils his chihuahua, Kotori, rotten with all kinds of pretty dresses and toys. He loves his husband, daughter and newborn son dearly.
Delwyn Morgane, 29: An employee at Dragon's Keep Games and Comics. When his shift ends, he dons a full suit of armor and obsessively hunts down dragons, or at least tries to. He's yet to actually kill a dragon. He's quite handsome but has a few screws loose. He plays Dungeons and Dragons with Hisao and friends every Thursday night.
Klaus Brunsvold, 70: A quiet and hardworking man originally from Norway. English is not his first language but he's slowly improving thanks to his coworkers. Though he might look imposing, his warm smile puts people at ease right away. He works at the cat cafe, Feline Good, as a barista and gleefully serves customers fattigman and slices of ostekake. Goria says he has "big grandpa energy".
Jonas Ostergard, 61: A blunt, reclusive man that's easily recognized by his towering height and voracious appetite. Standing 8'2" in comparison to his wife's tiny 5', he's one of many oddities in this town. He's absolutely enthralled by zombies and robots and fills notebooks with detailed diagrams regarding them. He's often seen at the Flock and Feather, chatting up a storm with his friend Tiff. He has autism, ADHD and intellectual disabilities.
Jamie De Luna, 18: A scrawny young man enamored with anime and martial arts. He's a bit hotheaded and immature but nonetheless determined to become an MMA fighter. His younger sister Tala is his biggest fan and supports her nerdy big brother all the way. He loves cheesy kung fu movies and takes them very seriously. He thinks very highly of his judo teacher Kai and seems to think of him as a father figure.
Goria Stout, 15: A high school student and part of Hisao's Dungeons and Dragons group. She's partially an ogre, 25% to be exact, and admires her ogre grandfather greatly. However, at the same time, part of her has been made to feel ashamed of her pointed ears and blue skin. She's rather lazy and self centered, but occasionally shows a more warm side. She wants to study magic and become a feared sorceress but just doesn't have the natural ability to do so. She frequents the comic shop and is the only one that believes in Delwyn's quest to slay a dragon.
Wesley Eldridge, 19: The bratty and materialistic son of billionaires left to play in mommy and daddy's mansion. His parents are constantly traveling the world, so he spends his days lazing about and relishing his family's wealth. He's notoriously snobbish and will have no part in anything, or anyone, he deems beneath him. He's had a fondness for unicorns since he was a child and even owns a purebred Irish unicorn named Divinity Diamond. He's very protective of her and has no qualms about sending his guards after you if you dare harm her.
Renwick Ozul, 25: E-boy and aspiring model with a sour disposition. He's distrusting of others and keeps people at a distance, except for his close friend Missy. Despite his cold and calculating online persona, he's quite insecure and struggles with his body image. He can be rather rude and nasty but has his moments of vulnerability and kindness.
Chelsea Montgomery, 23: A quiet young woman who keeps to herself. Some people say she fades into the background. She's very creative and resourceful, cleverly finding solutions to most problems she faces. Her interests include anime, cosplay, drawing and video games. She's great with kids and would like to be an art teacher one day.
Dallas Silvers, 27: A monster hunter and unofficial sheriff of Halflight. She's bold and quick witted, outsmarting any beast that threatens the town and quickly subduing it or killing it. Her talent with a rifle is nigh unmatched in town. She's the second oldest of 11 children and adores her older brother, the bounty hunter Smokey Silvers. She finds it difficult to be open about her feelings but loves her family dearly.
(Characters below belong to my friend @mikey-putrid, follow him he's cool)
Brody Erickson-O'Dalaigh, 47: The town's resident maternal figure and unofficial monster hunter (or befriender, really). Their spunky, adventurous attitude often gets them into shenanigans, but they always manage to pull themself out. They are kind and loving towards everyone. No matter who or what you are, you are always invited to Brody's for a nice meal.
Landon Borowick, 26: Brody's, often unwilling, sidekick and a security guard at the local mall. He's a cowardly young man who would rather stay home and get stoned, but thinks of Brody as his hero and therefore ends up getting dragged along on their adventures. Despite his fearful nature, Landon is a physically intimidating person who will do anything to help a friend.
Darcy Cooper, 16: A rough and tumble student at Halflight Grammar School. Darcy moved to Halflight with her mother to open up a bakery, which doubles as their home, and she often makes deliveries on her bike. Her warm and friendly personality helps her to make friends easily. Usually covered in bandages, Darcy loves practicing stunts on her skateboard, as well as watching anime and playing video games.
Loretta Sims, 20: Johnny's girlfriend, aspiring cryptozoologist and collecter of cool antiques. Loretta is shy and timid, preferring to blend into the background and not draw attention to herself. She loves spending time in the forest and working on her ever growing scrapbook. She's never far from her beloved boyfriend.
Cameron Payette, 28: A nurse at Halflight General Hospital and Dr. Vasilevsky's live in assistant. Having grown up with 15 disabled and ill siblings, Cameron has developed a love of helping people, keeping them healthy and cheering them up with a silly song on their trusty ukelele. During their off time, they enjoy video games and sci-fi movies.

Mutants & Masterminds is one of the most nebulous of the RPG systems. While this allows for great freedom to craft your own worlds, PCs, and enemies, this also makes for a difficult time in crafting villains. Whether you are fighting a new street thug every week or one intergalactic invader across an entire arc, there should be something on this list for everyone.  So buckle your utility belts, put on your gauntlets, and get ready to take on a villain of epic proportions!

[Exclusive] An Interview with the makers of gore-short TERMITATOR
New Post has been published on https://nofspodcast.com/exclusive-interview-makers-gore-short-termitator/
[Exclusive] An Interview with the makers of gore-short TERMITATOR
Tumblr media
Quebec homemade horror is on the rise. That’s according to self-proclaimed gore addict Camille Monette, the man responsible for the majority of the practical effects in several upcoming independent horror shorts. Monette is always looking for new ways to make blood splatter and heads explode, and recently, he got to try out some new techniques in his directorial debut Termitator. The story of Termitator is described as “four douchebags head out for a weekend of debauchery in the woods, unaware that they’re disturbing the peace of a mutant humanoid-insect.” Imagine the final scene of Cronenburg’s The Fly set in Camp Crystal Lake, but low-budget and French Canadian. We sat down with Monette and Keenan Poloncsak, who played the dreaded Termitator and had previously collaborated with Monette in the zombie short Pro-Can. They recounted stories of filming in the woods and told me the secret ingredients of their gore molds.
You can watch Termitator in full (with subtitles) below, exclusive to Nightmare on Film Street. Warning: not recommended if you have a weak stomach.
youtube
Chris Aitkens for Nightmare on Film Street: How are you feeling after the world premiere of Termitator?
Camille Monette: I’m liberated! I’m really satisfied, it was a great experience. We worked with a lot of people who were stoked about the project, really willing to do everything. It was really great working with those people.
Keenan Poloncsak: Me too, I’m 100% satisfied with the whole movie and the evening at the Dollar Cinema. With all the time it took to make, I feel relieved. It’s like taking a huge dump in the morning. It felt good.
NOFS: How did the idea of Termitator first come up?
CM: For the first project, I was thinking of making something that wasn’t new, something with a base in horror, so I chose to do a slasher. Everything has been done with the slasher genre. I have a few inspirations like Street Trash, Bad Taste, Brain Dead and Evil Dead 2. Everybody’s trying to do new shit and get a clear image. They want to make something like Walking Dead, but I find it’s too clean. I wanted to do something more like the 80s style. It’s a free space, just to work with what’s already been made. It was also for the pleasure of reuniting a group of friends, having a good time making a movie and to make it gory as fuck.
KP: I was in it totally for the gore.
NOFS: Is there anything you wanted to do differently from Pro-Can?
KP: Well, Pro-Can was based on an old comic I made, and it was supposed to be symbolic and poetic. Some things I think a lot of people got, other things not so much, but I was very happy with that. For this project, the story is ridiculous, it’s cliché, it’s using all these things that are just accepted. Like, the main character turns into a termite for no explained reason, people are just so used to that thing. It was a real adventure too. We decided to do it in that cabin in the woods. We had no electricity, no water, and we had to bring people there and prepare all the stuff. We were camping there at the same time.
CM: We had to walk about 20 minutes each time we arrived on the spot with all the gear, we had props and food too. And the whole team was fucking amazing, they all brought something to the place.
NOFS: Was this your first time as a director?
CM: For me, yes. I worked on a couple of other movies, but always as the effects guy or makeup. But this is the first time I made a movie, with a couple of people, it’s not my movie, it’s our movie. But I was the official director and producer.
NOFS: Was that difficult for you?
CM: Yes, because I’m not the kind of person who promotes a project. I’m better in a workshop with my headphones on, listening to my music, with a beer and a joint, working on molds or sculptures. It wasn’t hard, but it was different, it was out of my realm and it was challenging. But it was a fucking great experience and people were very helpful. I was lucky to have a team like that.
Tumblr media
NOFS: How long were you in the woods for?
CM: I think 6 months, but part-time. We would go based on the availability of people. We would shoot for two or three days, then the next week, it would be just for one day.
KP: For the summer of 2015, it was pretty much every weekend we were in the woods unless it was raining or if we had to some filming somewhere else.
CM: There’s a couple of shots, for the gore, that we filmed in Montreal. We didn’t have to be in the woods, we just needed some grass. For the head exploding, we could just do close-ups in Keenan’s backyard. Most of the time it was on location in the woods in that fucking awesome shack that our friend Louis-David built.
NOFS: How long did it take to put on the entire Termitator costume?
KP: Half an hour. It’s a three-piece mask
CM: But we also had to put makeup made of gelatin. Without using electricity, we had to melt the gelatin, using a wood stove in the shack.
NOFS: I definitely noticed the Street Trash influence when Keenan was turning into the Termitator. What did you use for the bubbling chemicals? Was it just paint?
CM: No, it was a mix of Xanthum gum, food colouring, corn starch, sometimes peas or lentils, corn syrup, sometimes coffee. Since we were shooting in the woods, we couldn’t have toxic products, we wanted to use environmentally-friendly ingredients. We didn’t want to leave a mark on nature, so I did some research on how to make semi-vegan gore effects.
KP: The film is almost vegan except for the crickets and the gelatin.
NOFS: Oh, so that’s what you used for the termites!
CM: We bought them at the pet shop, about 1000 crickets. And the week after, when we came back to the set, we could hear all the crickets at night. I think we might have fucked up the natural equilibrium, there were too many crickets. We were sitting around the fire and we were hearing frogs getting closer and closer. It was a free buffet for them!
Tumblr media
NOFS: I noticed the gore in this movie was really over the top. You have fireworks coming out of someone’s ass, you have someone getting their dick chainsawed off, you have melting breasts. Are there any other deaths that you had in mind that you couldn’t do?
CM: Yes, but I won’t say. Because there might be a sequel.
NOFS: So if you were to make a sequel, is there anything you can reveal?
CM: Normally in a sequel, it doesn’t resemble the original at all. The monster will be different, it’ll be a different genre, it won’t be a slasher. It will have just as much gore, maybe more, especially if we have the budget. But I want to do something very random. For Termitator, I wanted to do a shitty movie, an exploitation movie, because we had a small budget. If I don’t have a big budget for the second film, then it’s impossible to make.
NOFS: I’m also interested about the horror movie inside the horror movie, Chainsaw Cow Hookers. Where did the inspiration for that come from?
CM: It was an homage to Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers. I forget the name of the actor in it, but he died last year. It’s not a good movie, it’s a B-movie, it sucked, honestly. But whenever you watch a horror movie, especially a slasher, it’s always a man who plays the villain, and he’s always in a power position. So I wanted to reverse the gender roles. But it’s still very sexualized. It’s probably the only regret I have with Termitator; I wasn’t able to achieve the vision of equality between the sexes. When it comes to B-series or Troma movies, it’s always gratuitous with nude scenes, but if you show a naked man, it’s a travesty, it’s a joke! It’s very dude-oriented. I wanted to make a villain who was a woman attacking a handsome man with a big dick. Yes, she’s naked, you can see her breasts covered in blood, so I won’t get any feminist points for that. Zero. I shot myself in the foot, it was a bad attempt.
KP: I didn’t see it that way at all. I thought it was hilarious.
CM: But at the premiere, there were a lot of people who were angry and left. I didn’t say bye to them. I was happy with that. I didn’t want only compliments, that’s boring. I wanted people to have real reactions to the movie.
NOFS: Other than Termitator, what other projects have you been working on?
CM: There’s Crucifix, Yersinia Pestis, Cosmic Pendant, which will be coming out next year, and previously, there was Pro-Can, Banshee, Push Up the Daisies, Mascouche, Superfunk and Sleazy Pete. That’s all I can think of now.
NOFS: Did you have any training in gore?
CM: No, it’s a hobby. I learned by myself, in my apartment, through trial and error.
KP: He’s a Mr. Fix-it kind of guy, he’s always creating stuff and building contraptions. He’s good at cooking too. So most of the gore stuff is edible. He’s good at following recipes and creating recipes to get certain colours and consistencies.
NOFS: So where are you showing the movie next?
KP: I’m going to try to get into festivals as much as possible, but it always pisses me off the fact that I have to pay a festival for them to show my movie. Personally, if I was organizing a screening or a film festival, I wouldn’t charge anything to show someone else’s film. I’ve been trying to find some free festivals around the world, I might fork over some money if I think they are worthy, but I’ll still be reluctant.
CM: Recently we teamed up with Frank Appache of Sleazy Pete and Gabriel Claveau of Punk Fu Zombie, and we organized a mini-tour. The next screening will be in Sherbrooke for the Cabane à Sang, it will be our three movies.
KP: Then Quebec City, Rimouski, then maybe Spasm Festival. If they’re cool, they’ll take it.
CM: But just to have the premiere screening was significant enough for the people who were involved. But we don’t want to make money. We just love making horror movies. We love the experience of working with a dream team.
KP: That dream team is what it’s all about. Counting everyone who participated, that makes 16, and one of them was a dog. Termitator was a milestone in my life, and as a team, I think we’ve come to a new stage in our evolution. I just want to say, if you see the movie and you like it, show all your friends. You can do a screening at your house for Halloween or something. I don’t want to see people showing it at a bar and charging 10 bucks. But if people want to show it at the local punkhouse and make it by donation for next week’s food drive, we have no problem with that. Make Termitator grow!

Terror Time 2022: Days 10-17
Hi everyone! Here’s an update of all the horror movies since I last talked.
Also, I should’ve attached a warning about Brotherhood of the Wolf; There’s a scene of sexual assault in it. If that makes you uncomfortable or you find it triggering, you might want to give that one a skip. Going forward, if films I watched had anything like that, I’ll remember to attach a warning.
One Cut of the Dead (2017): I knew going in this was an unconventional horror-comedy zombie movie, and that’s what I got. I knew the basic setup going in and avoid spoiling myself on anything else, which was wise in hindsight. I’ll say if you go in knowing only the basic premise, the first 35 minutes is more or less that, then it goes in a completely different direction. Like, “more meta then Scream” different. I won’t spoil anything else, other the first 35 minutes I mentioned earlier is the film at it’s scariest, with the rest leaning towards comedy, so if you want a more intense zombie movie, you might be disappointed. But it pulls it off, and it actually ends up being a fun time.
A Chinese Ghost Story (1987): Like Brotherhood of the Wolf, this isn’t a horror film, so much as a period piece action film with horror elements, though this time made in China. Fans of kung-fu movies would like creative fight scenes, but those looking for all things spooky will like the nighttime atmosphere, zombies, and a good old fashioned ghost/love story.
Side note: I got a kick out of how ACAB this movie was. Sure, it was played for comedic effect, but it was another case where the police aren’t expected to help.
The Ranger(2018): Now for something less pleasant. It works fine enough, I guess, if you can accept it detached from reality. But I’m getting kind of sick of the “evil destructive punk” stereotype. I know most slasher films have it so most of the would be body count is unlikable. But there’s a reason why in a lot of the more popular backwoods slasher films, those kind of characters are depicted as more privileged prep types. The idea of the slasher being a park ranger being driven mad is a nice idea, though I would’ve liked him being portrayed more uptight and over-the-top. It’d make him seem more unhinged.
The Raven (1963): For about the past ten years, I had to include one Vincent Price movie in my movie watch marathon. And I think this’ll be the last one for a while. This movie is wild in the way that if it was made today, Film twitter would go crazy and hate on it for “disrespecting the source material”. Said “disrespect” starts literally with the titular raven saying something other then his iconic line, which had to have been a deliberate jab. But taken as it is, it’s a fun little gothic fantasy movie, similar in tone to the other Poe adaptation Price made with Roger Corman at the time, though the lightest in tone.
As for the cast, It’s surreal seeing a really young Jack Nicholson, play the standard strong bland love interest to the female lead in this. Though looking at the carriage scene did make clear why he was cast. You can see the genesis of his Jack Torrance performance forming there. Peter Lorre’s fun as the cranky sidekick/turncoat, always complaining and backstabbing throughout. But you can’t be mad because it never goes well for him. The highlight is easily the climatic wizards duel between Price and Boris Karloff. Compared to future cinematic wizards duel, it’s more low key. Even compared to the one in Disney’s Sword in the Stone which came out a few years later. It’s not intense, just...I can’t think of any word other then cute. Like if two grandpas did a stage act where they were stage magicians trying to one up each other. I mean that in a good way. It can be a  rather slow, with certain plot devices being old hat now. But it’s a fun watch if you like these actors, especially when they’re trying to chew more scenery then the other.
Halloween (2018,Kills,Ends): This is the first time I saw the first two since I saw them in theaters. At this point, I don’t know what else I can add to them that isn’t there already. The first one still feels like an update of the 1978 original, while setting off Laurie’s new character arc. And the second feels like a part two of that, plus a nonstop kill showcase. And sneaking in a condemnation of mob mentality vigilantism in the process.
As for the new film that just came out; keep in mind this is first impressions. I didn’t like Kills too much when I first saw it. But now after a whole year, while it’s not my favorite, I’ve accepted it more. I had a feeling going in, that the reason they made Kills that way, was so to give them carte blanc to go in a completely outside the box way with this one. But even then, I didn’t expect it would get this different. It was like a back door pilot for a remake of a different 80s slasher film. (I got serious “Silent Night, Deadly Night” flashbacks.)
I think this one’s a mess, but I think it has some good ideas in it, especially in how it continues the themes from the last movies. Michael Myers was a monster born out of small-town suburbia. Created from it. And it’s here with a new character, we see not only the far reaches of the effects his rampage has had, but also how it inspires more monsters like him. It’s not that I want more information or world building in this (That’d be the Cult of Thorn all over again). But I like that it made me think maybe Michael’s just one long link of pure evil mass killers. What makes him evil isn’t supernatural, so much as sociological. Kind of how like one of the reasons mass shooters are motivated is because they saw how famous the last one is.
It also finally provides a way for this franchise to finally get beyond Laurie and Michael for good. (Some call how he’s disposed of excessive, and maybe it is in presentation, but I liked that they took extra steps to make sure he’s gone this time, like removing his mask and such.) I’m also happy that if this is the last we see of Laurie Strode, she came out on top. If this franchise continues, it can either restart that anthology idea we had with Season of the Witch. Or maybe we’ll follow a new killer going forward. Leave the Strode family in peace. They’ve earned it.
Psycho Goreman (2020): E.T. if instead of him and Eliot, it’s Pinhead and rule 63′d Eric Cartman. This is a cynical, mean-spirited parody of 80s sci fi kids film, that I loved most of. By that, I mean the practical effects and the aliens. I don’t care if it’s 100% believable. It’s beautiful...in the ugliest ways imaginable. I especially loved the title character’s collection of generals who betrayed him. They look like slightly more gnarly power rangers villains. The family drama, I could do less of. Maybe had him interact/torture other humans throughout would be fun. And outside of “Love can motivate you to do terrible things”, nobody learned a damned thing. In other words, this is peak cinema.
Gravy(2015): Nobody talks about this horror-comedy or even seem to know about this movie. And watching it, it’s not hard to see why. The basic premise is that “cannibals hold employees of a Mexican restaurant hostage”. and things proceed to head in the blackest of comedic directions possible. Even that doesn’t sum up how weird it can get (there’s cartoon sound effects, for one). I suppose if you want a movie that’s gleefully messed up where it ends bad for pretty much everyone, you can check it out. I don’t think I cared for it, though. Felt like it punched down too much.
And that’s it so far. I hope to give the next update this time next week.

When faced with a situation where he could lose Devon, Bailey has to go against his own morals.
Characters: Devon, Bailey, unnamed male and zombie; mentions of The Engineer.
Notes: Takes place in the Zombie Apocalypse AU Eli and I made together. Writing out a scenario I talked about with him.
Devon belongs to @terranatior
Warnings: Gore, body horror; typical zombie stuff. Vomiting. Light talk of stuff that happened in this drabble.
Song used: Infected by TryHardNinja (link to song).
There was a ringing in his ears, deep within the drums, and he cringed at the noise as his eyes slowly opened, sight blurry. Disoriented and hurting, Bailey looked around the best he could, head still pressed sideways to the floor. His own hand lay in front of him, palm down, and light was shooting him in the eyes from the window on the opposite side of the room. It stung them, so he shut his eyes for a moment, then opened them up once more when he was certain he could take it.
There was something red nearby and Bailey looked to it, squinting at it tiredly. Another hand lay nearby, just about attached to the arm, and laying in a pool of blood. His breath caught in his throat, taking in how close he was to laying in someone else’s liquid life, and he dared to follow the mutilated arm up to the corpse. He recognised it as the man that had stalked he and Devon into this abandoned house, waving a gun around and demanding they give up their supplies. Devon was too hot-headed to just stand down, of course, and a fight had broken out.
He squinted some more, eyes almost slits, as he tried to recall what had happened next. When the guy had gotten the upper hand and had…aimed his gun at Devon, Bailey had yelled out and jumped on his back, causing him to lose interest in Devon and work on getting the smaller man off. Bailey had covered his face with his hands, kicked at the gun to try and make him let it go just in case he fired whilst blind and hit Devon. The guy hadn’t been too deterred, just enough for Devon to have time to grab his bat, and he’d slammed Bailey against a wall a few times, stopping when he felt Bailey let go and had immediately whipped around to slam the butt of his gun into Bailey’s face. Bailey had felt blood spurt from his nose and had gone flying back, only to hit his head on a low shelf and -
Well. That was it.
God, where was Devon…?
What had happened to Devon…?
Where was he…?
Had he…left without him…?
No, Devon wouldn’t do that…
Not to him; Devon would never…
So, where was he…?
If the man was here, then where could Devon have gotten to…?
He would’ve…waited for him, surely…
Sat by him to make sure he’d be okay…
Maybe…Maybe he was just off exploring the rest of the house; they hadn’t gotten very far earlier…
That had to be it…
Had to be…
His head still felt fuzzy and there was a sharp, stinging pain at the back; his brain felt heavy in his skull and his limbs ached.
He…He wanted to rest more…
Just…five more minutes, please…
Devon will come and get him…
Devon always came and got him…
Bailey let his heavy eyelids begin to fall back down, certain he could rest a little bit longer before Devon showed up again, when he heard a loud thud and slowly peeled his eyelids back, eyes not so quick to check what the noise was. It’d come from the doorway at the side of the room parallel to his feet, so he had to shift his head slightly to look, and even that sent pain through his skull.
“FUCK!”
Bailey blinked slowly.
Devon…
The punk came falling backwards into view, scrambling along the floor, pushing himself back and back and back. He looked…scared.
Bailey heard a groan, a hiss, and smelled the member of the undead before he saw them.
Staggering, stumbling, struggling to stay upright.
Getting closer and closer to Devon.
Devon…
He was…in trouble…
That was a zombie…
Just…one bite could…
Bailey stared with dewy eyes at the scene, watching as Devon kicked out with one leg and immediately took it back when the undead swiped for it.
“FUCK! FUCK, FUCK, FUCK!”
Devon…
Where was…?
Bailey’s eyes travelled around the rest of the room until they found Devon’s trusty, nail-embedded bat laying underneath the window.
He…must’ve lost it…
Lost his best weapon…
Did he not…have the gun he’d gotten from…from…that man that looks like him…?
The Engineer - that’s it…
Where was that gun…?
Devon, you have to use your gun…
Devon…
If you don’t, then…
It’ll…
You’ll be…
You’ll…
…die.
Bailey’s eyes, no matter how much they stung in that moment, widened.
“FUCK, FUCK, FUCK!”
Devon…was going to die.
Devon…
Devon…
In any other situation like this, Devon would…pick up his bat and beat the undead’s head in, just to save Bailey. He’d rescue Bailey, no problem. Kill as many zombies as it took to keep Bailey safe; that was how they worked.
Ever since Devon had stumbled upon one of Bailey’s hiding places - an old bookstore that was now so many miles away - and had almost beat his head in with the bat before confirming he was still alive. Completely alive. With nothing but some books and a few energy drinks.
“…How the fuck are you still alive?”
“Um…Luck, I suppose.”
They’d done a bit of sharing between themselves. A bit of a deal. Bailey had given Devon the energy drinks in exchange for some of the water that Devon had carried around and Bailey had cooked up the food that Devon had found with only a fire and a makeshift pan, giving Devon the best meal he‘d had in ages. They’d eaten together, spoken some, and then…
Well. The rest was history.
They’d been together ever since.
Just the two of them, just like they preferred it…
Devon protected him, made him smile, kept him alive and…relatively sane.
Bailey…
Bailey did nothing for him.
Why did Devon even…?
He was just…Bailey.
He’d never raised a bat or a gun or a club to a zombie before; Devon had done all of that.
He…He couldn’t…
He was too scared…
They were people and he was a pacifist…
“FUCK! GET THE FUCK - FUCK!”
So…he couldn’t…
But…But Devon…
Devon…
Was going to die…
No more Devon…
He’d be all alone again…
No more Devon…
Devon was going to be one of those things…
Devon wouldn’t want that…
He didn’t want that…
He didn’t want Devon to die…!
Devon couldn’t die…!
He couldn’t…!
But he would…
If Bailey didn’t…
He had to…do something…!
His eyes drifted to Devon’s bat again.
If he didn’t then…
Then Devon would just be yet another life that…he could’ve saved…
Devon…
That was…his Devon that was in danger…
He felt something inside of him snap.
No.
Fuck no.
NO, NO, NO - HE WOULDN’T STAND FOR THIS ANYMORE!
Suddenly, his pain meant nothing and he meant nothing and Devon meant everything and he was scrambling to his feet and diving for Devon’s bat, grabbing it in a tight hold that was prepared to never let go, and he was spinning on his heel and running for the zombie that stood over Devon and he was screaming and throwing the bat back with all his might.
“THAT’S MY DEVON!”
The bat whizzed by his ear as he swung it and it smashed into the zombie’s head, knocking it clean off and sending it flying across the room to smack into the wall and explode like a watermelon in a shower of flesh and rotten brains and the zombie’s decapitated body flopped to the ground on to its side and Bailey was slamming the bat into it repeatedly, screaming and screeching all the while, and Devon was staring in shock at the shattered remains of its head, “Holy fucking shit…!”
“NOT! MY! DEVON! NOT! NOT! NO! NOT! NOT! NOT!”
Infected blood spurted and sprayed as Bailey beat the body as hard as he could, slamming the bat into arms and legs and torso and hips and neck column, flesh breaking off with each hit.
“DON’T! YOU! FUCKING! EVER! HURT! MY! DEVON!”
The neck column caved in with just a couple of hits and the right arm broke off with five and the chest cavity almost completely caved as Bailey beat the bat hard into it.
“NOT! NOT! NOT! NOT! NOT MY DEVON! NOT! NOT! NOT! NOT! NOT! NOT!”
The blood, black and filthy and teeming with the disease, splattered over his boots and jeans and his hands and Devon’s bat and the front of his hoodie as he smashed the undead’s body to pieces.
“NOT! NOT! NOT! DON’T YOU EVER! THAT’S! MY! DEVON!”
Devon pressed himself against the wall to avoid the droplets of blood flying through the air as Bailey hit and hit and hit into the corpse and he stared up at Bailey as the smaller male screamed through gritted teeth and found himself flinching the more Bailey beat into the corpse. He’d never seen Bailey like this; Bailey was so sweet and innocent and he’d hug and hide his face in Devon’s arm whenever he was too overwhelmed by their situations and he would cover his face to avoid looking at the undead’s bodies whenever they went down when Devon was finished with them and he’d smile as he cooked for them both.
This wasn’t like Bailey.
“DON’T YOU EVER! NOT TO MY! DEVON! EVER! EVER! EVER! NO! NO! NO! NO! NOT MY DEVON! NOT! MY! DEVON! EVER! NO! NO! NO! NO!”
Thick tears flooded Bailey’s eyes without warning or even a sniffle and flowed down his face, dripping off of his chin and onto the corpse he was beating into a bloody pulp, and he screamed hard through his teeth until his throat burned and his arms ached from the force of his hitting, but he couldn’t stop and he fell to his knees but he was still hitting and he felt infected blood splash onto his chest and face and he was so fucking angry at this fucker for trying to hurt Devon and angry at himself for not acting sooner or any other time that Devon was in danger and for being such a fucking baby and for breaking his own morals by killing another person but he couldn’t help himself if it was for Devon because Devon was special and Devon had to live and he couldn’t live without Devon and and and and and and and and and and -
“BAILEY!”
Bailey felt something grab hold of his arm and fought against it, rising back up to his feet and screaming still through his teeth and wrenching against it, still trying to swing the bat downwards, and Devon pulled at his arm and gripped his hoodie’s sleeve hard.
“BAILEY! FUCKING CHRIST - BAILEY! IT’S DEAD! IT’S OVER, BAILEY!”
“DON’T FUCKING TOUCH ME!”
“BAILEY! BAILEY! LET GO OF THE FUCKING BAT!”
The bat was waved through the air as Devon pulled at Bailey’s arm, stopping him from swinging his weapon anymore, and Bailey fought against him, trying to deliver more beatings to the rotten corpse. Bailey continued screaming through his teeth and Devon was cursing up a storm, trying to grab hold of his signature weapon and pull it from Bailey’s grasp.
“BAILEY! GIMME THE FUCKING BAT, BAILEY!”
“DON’T TOUCH ME, DON’T TOUCH ME!”
“BAILEY! FUCKING - BAILEY!”
Devon grabbed the middle of the bat and held it tightly, pulling back whenever Bailey tried to swing it forwards toward the undead and he awkwardly pushed against Bailey with his right shoulder. If he had still had his right arm, he would’ve pushed at Bailey and pried the bat from his hands, but it was gone - this was the best he could do. He raised a foot to push against Bailey’s hip, trying to compensate, and tugged hard at the bat until it finally came free from Bailey’s grasp.
Bailey spun around and hit at his chest, thumping it hard with his fists, and Devon grunted with each hit and threw the bat aside, grabbing at Bailey’s bicep and squeezing tightly.
“BAILEY! BAILEY - FUCK - STOP! IT’S ME! IT’S ME, BAILEY!”
“STOP - DON’T -”
“BAILEY!”
Bailey‘s scowl dropped, punches weakening one by one, and he blinked until his sight was no longer blurry by tears. His fist thumped against Devon’s chest one more time, stopping there, and he slowly looked up at him.
Devon panted slowly, staring at Bailey with wide eyes, and he swallowed thickly before speaking, “…Fucking hell, Bailey…!” Bailey panted as he stared up at him, peeking at him from beneath the bill of his baseball cap, and Devon exhaled heavily, “Didn’t…Didn’t think you had it in you…!”
Bailey’s expression fell, like he was confused on what he meant, then he paused. Slowly, his head turned to look over his shoulder at the bloody mess that was an infected human being, flesh smashed into chunks and bones shattered to pieces and organs squashed to pieces, nothing but stains on the wooden floor. Bailey trembled at the sight of it, fresh tears filling his eyes, and without warning he turned and vomited hard onto the floor and Devon’s feet.
“Oh, shit!” Devon stumbled back, grimacing down at the chunky liquid on his boots, and he looked to Bailey to speak, only to stop himself when he saw Bailey raising trembling hands up so he could look at them. “Oh, shit, Bailey…!”
Bailey stared down at his palms, splattered with infected blood, then he parted them to look down at his jeans and boots. His boots were caked with black along the tops of the toes and his jeans were completely covered in it, all the way up his shins, from where he’d unknowingly knelt in the growing puddle on the floor.
Devon swallowed thickly, staring at the shaking man nervously, “…Bailey?”
Bailey retched, then a sob escaped his throat as tears filled his tear ducts to the brims and dribbled down his face. Gasps and wheezes escaped him as it all sunk in.
He’d killed somebody.
He, who was raised as a pacifist, who had never raised a hand to anybody before, had killed somebody.
Not just that - he’d completely fucking mutilated them.
Made them nothing but a stain on the floor.
Their blood was all over his hands, his legs, his clothes.
Another human being’s blood was all over him.
Another bout of vomit exploded from between his lips, spraying into the air and dropping to the floor when he doubled over, then his breath came out heavy and rough as his hands came up to grip his hair through his hood and hat.
Devon swallowed again, brow furrowing, “Bailey…!”
Bailey paid him no mind, wheezing and gasping for air, then he threw his head back and screamed bloody murder to the ceiling, tears pouring down his face. He dropped to his knees, kneeling in his own puke, and fell to his side on the floor, still digging his fingers into his hood and curling up into a ball, screaming loudly in mental and emotional agony. His arms covered his face, hands still grabbing at his hood, and he screamed into them, wailing and sobbing and choking on his own saliva and vomit. His brain felt numb and heavy all over again, but it wasn’t the earlier head injury doing it this time.
Devon stared down at him for a few moments, body feeling numb from the shock, then he swallowed the lump in his front and knelt down to Bailey, “B-Bailey…B-Bailey, it’s…” How could he say this was okay? “Bailey…” He swallowed again. “Bailey, we…y-you gotta get cleaned up, c’mon…C-C’mon, Bailey…”
It took several minutes for Bailey to uncurl enough for Devon to hold his arm and bring him up to his feet and drag him away from the damage.
Devon stood outside of the door, listening intently, for a minute or so before he raised his single hand and knocked, “…Bailey?” He called carefully, lifting his head slightly to be heard better, “…Bailey. You okay in there?”
No reply.
Devon inhaled deeply and exhaled just so, “…I’m comin’ in, okay, Bailey? If you ain’t decent, then…cover up.” He lifted a hand and turned the handle slowly, giving Bailey time to do just that if he wished, then he opened the bathroom door and stepped in.
The shower hissed away, water pouring down into the bathtub it was attached to and over the hooded head of Bailey, who was slumped in the tub, still completely dressed. His clothes were dripping wet, blackened water flowing beneath him down into the drain. He didn’t move as Devon opened the door and stepped in, staring at the lump in the bathtub sympathetically, then the punk sighed and shut the door behind him. He approached the tub, “…Bailey. You okay?”
Bailey didn’t reply.
Devon chewed his lip as he thought carefully about what to say next, then he sighed and rubbed the back of his head. “…Bailey…listen. What…What you did back there…it…it wasn’t…bad. It…I mean…” He sighed at his own struggle, “…Don’t beat yourself up over it, Bailey. You…did the right thing…”
He sounded impossibly lame, embarrassingly awkward, and he wanted to just shut himself up and leave then and there, but then he caught Bailey shaking his head slowly and made the decision to stay. “Yeah, you did, Bailey. I mean…c’mon. Without you, I’d be fuckin’ dead and…one of those things -”
“They’re people.” Came Bailey’s whimpered reply. His voice was hoarse from all the screaming earlier.
Devon frowned, “They’re not people anymore, Bailey. They’re just…They’re fucking monsters -”
“No!” Bailey snapped from beneath his hood and cap, “No! I’m a monster!” Devon grimaced, not only at the words, but at hearing Bailey’s sobs return. “I killed somebody! You saw what I did! I…I killed somebody! I murdered them in cold blood! I…I fucking ruined them!” He hid his face in his wrists, letting water continue to pour down over him, “I’m a murderer…I’m a murderer…I’m a murderer…!”
Devon stood there, brow furrowed as he stared at him. In any other case, he might’ve laughed at Bailey’s use of an expletive, especially considering Bailey’s wish to never swear, but it didn’t have that effect this time. This was different.
He sighed, removed his vest and muttered, “Heads up,” before climbing into the bathtub with Bailey, sitting opposite him with his legs crossed. He felt his arse and the legs of his trousers become wet in the puddle of water in the tub, but he paid it no mind as he looked to Bailey slowly. “…You’re not a murderer. Don’t say that kind of shit. They’re not people, Bailey. They’re not anything anymore.”
Bailey shook his head pitifully and Devon sighed. They sat in silence for a bit, save for the shower running, then Devon trained his blue eyes on his companion carefully, “…Well. Lemme ask you somethin’, Bailey.” Bailey didn’t stop him, so he went on. “…You think I’m a murderer?”
Bailey froze, then slowly looked to him with horrified eyes.
“Huh? You think I’m a monster, Bailey? Every time I’m takin’ my bat to one of those things, you thinkin’ I’m a monster?”
“No!” Bailey exclaimed quickly, “No! You’re anything but!”
As if he was scared he’d upset him, Bailey scrambled over to him and practically climbed into his lap to hug him tightly around the middle, holding his shirt with wet fists. Devon ignored that his shirt was getting wet from Bailey’s hoodie being pressed against him and waited as Bailey squeezed him tight, then he poked his shoulder, “Yeah, see? You’re bein’ a hypocrite.”
Bailey curled in on himself, the shame unrelenting, “…But you didn’t…go against your morals…”
“No. But, like I said, Bailey, what you did wasn’t bad. It…” He scratched his chin, “It was actually pretty badass.” Bailey flinched and Devon’s brow furrowed, “Sorry. That probably isn’t what you wanna hear.”
Bailey shook his head slowly.
“…Well. Look at the bright side of this.”
“What bright side?”
“You saved my life back there.” Bailey’s grip on his shirt loosened. “I’d be fuckin’ dead if it weren’t for you.”
Bailey thought about it, then blushed slightly, “Well, I…I dunno…I’m sure you would’ve found a way out of it…”
“Nuh-uh. I was out of options. You saved my ass, buddy.” He poked Bailey’s shoulder again. “Don’t go bragging about that, though. I’ll deny it.”
Bailey, despite himself, let out a tiny giggle and Devon relaxed, smiling gently down at him. Bailey turned so his back was to Devon’s chest as Devon stretched out his legs, Bailey now sitting between them. “…I…I dunno…what came over me…I was just…I saw…it there and…and I realised you were gonna die if I didn’t do anything and I just…snapped…” He sighed. “I’d rather go against my own morals than lose you…”
Devon pretended hearing that didn’t warm his face and make the tips of his ears turn bright red; he instead scoffed and gave Bailey’s shoulder another poke, “Don’t be a fuckin’ sap about it.”
Bailey tilted his head to look at him, smiling at him a little bit, “Oh, c’mon. Like you wouldn’t be the same if something happened to me…!”
Devon gave another scoff, neither denying nor confirming it, and rolled his shoulders. Something were to happen to Bailey, Devon would fucking set the world on fire.
Scratch that, he wouldn’t have a world to set on fire.
God, that was gay…
“Devon…” Bailey said quietly, smiling up at him tiredly.
“Bailey.” Devon replied and Bailey let out another tiny giggle. “C’mon, you all cleaned up? Got all that gunk off of you?” Bailey paused, then wilted again, staring glumly down at his jeans and boots. “Don’t wanna risk shit, Bailey, c’mere.” He grabbed the sponge that was, surprisingly, still there on the rack at the side (if just a bit filthy) and scrubbed it against the top of Bailey’s hood.
Bailey gave an unsatisfied whine at him, like a dog not wanting a bath, and reached back to take the sponge from him.
“C’mon, Bailey. It’s either that or we ditch your clothes. Found a bunch in a closet in the room down the hall; you can replace whatever there. Probably gotta ditch those jeans…Fuckin’ covered in…gunk an’ puke…”
Bailey faltered, staring at his trousers sadly, then peeked back at Devon, “Sorry about puking on your boots earlier…”
“Meh, it’s okay. Don’t worry ‘bout it; they’ve had worse on ‘em.”
“…Oh, God…” He whimpered, “A-And for…for punching your chest…”
Devon could hear his voice wobbling as he remembered it and made sure to be quick with his reply, “Hey, don’t worry about that, either. You were seein’ red, it’s okay.”
“I guess…” Bailey scrubbed half-heartedly at the front of his hoodie, then spoke up again, “…Devon?”
“Yeah?”
“You are okay, right? You didn’t…get bitten or anything?”
“I woulda turned by now if I did.” Bailey whimpered at the thought so Devon quickly added, “Nah, I’m okay.”
“Good…I saw the bloke who stalked us on the floor when I woke up…”
“Oh, yeah. That asshole. Don’t worry, I dealt with him whilst you were unconscious.” He faltered, “Fuck, right - are you okay after that?”
“Yeah. My head felt a bit fuzzy, though…My eyes hurt a bit.” Bailey reached back to rub the back of his head and that was when Devon caught sight of the patch of blood back there.
“Fuck…!” Devon hissed, reaching to pull Bailey’s hood down. “Fuck, fuck, fuck!”
“What?!”
Devon didn’t reply and pushed Bailey’s hat out of the way. Dried blood made a clumpy ball in Bailey’s hair at the back, little flakes stuck to the strands, and Devon grimaced at it. “Shit. Okay, we…gotta get you patched up.”
Bailey whimpered, “Is it bad…?”
“Nah, you’ll be okay. We’ll…” He sighed; he really hated the reality of his next plan. “We’ll head to The Engineer’s next; he’ll probably have some shit to help you.”
Bailey’s shoulders slumped, “…Sorry…”
“What’re you apologisin’ for? It was that asshole’s fault for fucking…slamming you into a fucking wall! Got what was comin’ to ‘im, though. Fuckin’ asshole…” He paused when he noticed Bailey smiling at him, “What?!”
“You…” Bailey shook his head fondly. Devon frowned confusedly. “See? You are the same as me. Get all mad cause someone hurt me…”
Devon’s frown tightened, cheeks ablaze, “Shut up!”
“Sappy punk.”
“Shut up!”
“It’s okay, Devon.” Bailey smiled at him a little wider, “Honest. I think it’s sweet. Puts my anxiety at bay, at least.”
Devon grumbled under his breath, looking away from him, and then muttered, “Your nose is fucked up.”
Bailey paused, then slowly put a hand to it. He looked worried as he touched the tender area along the bridge, feeling rough, dried blood under his nostrils. “You think it’s broken…?”
“Dunno. Take a look at it later, when we’re at The Engineer’s. If it is, he’ll have stuff for that too.”
Bailey whimpered again and nodded sadly. Devon patted his shoulder, told him to finish cleaning up and shuffled backwards to stand and step out of the tub. He shook himself a bit like a wet dog, picked up his vest from the floor and left Bailey to it.
Once he’d left, Bailey looked down at the blackened water flowing down the drain. Devon had been right, though; there was a bright side to this. Devon was still alive, still with him, and that meant that everything was going to be okay. He wasn’t alone.
He’d be devastated if anything were to ever happen to the punk. Devon had been keeping him alive all this time - all mentally, emotionally and physically - and if he didn’t have him…he didn’t know. He didn’t think…he would be able to…go on…
He forced himself not to think about that, lest he start to believe it might happen.
But, nowadays, Devon was his everything. He’d never felt this close to anybody before, not even his own siblings, his own twin sister. Like he could tell Devon anything, confess any secret. He was certainly the person Bailey felt most comfortable being affectionate and intimate with; clinging to him when he was scared, hiding his face in his bicep or his shoulder when he didn’t want to look at something that could traumatise him, helping him through phantom limb pain in his stump, painting his nails for him when they’d finally come across some black nail polish, curling against his back when they dared to sleep at the same time and under the same scratchy blanket. Not to mention that time they’d spent the night together; Bailey didn’t know if he could describe what they’d done as making love, but it’d kinda…felt like that. He’d felt so loved. Either way, he just…knew he’d like to do it again. In better circumstances, gentler and having more time together. Have Devon take him and…make him his.
Bailey’s face was an impossibly hot temperature by the time he shut the water off and he gave a miserable sigh.
Okay. One secret he couldn’t tell Devon.
C’mon, though. That whole thing had just been…relieving some tension. A quick ‘yay, we’re alive’ fuck; some fucking weird celebration at their good fortune. Nothing more. Devon wasn’t…He didn’t…It wasn’t like that.
A guy like Devon with a guy like Bailey?
Please.
In his wildest dreams.
Bailey did end up changing his jeans, replacing them with another pair that he’d found in that closet Devon had mentioned. They fit just fine, which was a relief, as any pair that was too big or too small would be harder to run around in. He kept his hoodie, though; the spatters of infected blood weren’t too bad and he’d done a good job of scrubbing out the worst of it.
Devon had had to change out his shirt, which was all fine and good, he supposed. Couldn’t risk the infection, y’know? Whatever it took. His vest was still fine, though, thank fuck. He wasn’t getting rid of that anytime soon.
When they went to head back downstairs, Bailey froze on one of the top steps. Devon looked back at him, found him staring at the bottom of the staircase, and he climbed the distance between the two of them and placed a hand on his shoulder. “C’mon, Bailey. You can do this.”
Bailey shook his head, face creasing, eyes squeezed shut and biting his lip.
Devon offered his arm, “Don’t look, Bailey.”
Bailey opened one eye and immediately latched onto the punk’s arm like a koala, letting Devon lead him down the stairs. Right there, at the bottom, lay the mess Bailey had made of the infected human, drying and staining the floorboards an ugly tar black.
Devon’s lip curled at the sight of it and he looked to Bailey, “Bailey, shut your eyes for a sec. I gotta get my bat.”
Bailey nodded and Devon carefully pulled his arm from his grasp. Immediately, Bailey covered his eyes with his hands and turned away from where he knew the corpse laid.
Devon stepped over to his bat, which had rolled close to where the pieces of the zombie’s head had landed upon explosion, and his nose wrinkled at the sight of them. Fuck, Bailey had a good arm on him when he was pissed off. It made Devon aware to never make him that mad at him, lest he get a whack like that. Not that he thought Bailey ever would, for real, hit him like that. Not unless he got infected too…and Bailey had to…
He shook his head, cleansing his brain of those thoughts, and collected his bat, scraping it against the nearest doorway to pick off some of the dried, infected blood. He brought it up and placed it into its holder on his back when he did the best he could. Slowly, he returned to Bailey and gently touched his arm, brow furrowing when the Englishman flinched, “C’mon, Bailey. Let’s get outta here.”
Bailey, without opening his eyes, scrambled to grab hold of Devon’s arm again, hugging it close and burying his face into the bicep. The punk led him to the door, nudging it open with his foot, then they walked out into the streets again. Devoid of anybody, for now. It was safe for Bailey to continue to hold his arm.
Devon let him continue to do so as they walked; this was Bailey’s comfort device nowadays, the knowledge of Devon being so close and so ready to protect him, and if it helped Bailey than Devon would let him do it. The poor guy was traumatised enough, he didn’t want to add ‘being paranoid about protection’ to the list.
“Devon…?”
Devon blinked and looked down at the hooded head pressed to his arm, “Yeah?”
“I…I…I never…wanna do that again…Please, don’t…make me do it again…”
Devon stared for a moment, then nodded, “I won’t. Don’t worry. You won’t hafta do that again; I’ll do it for you.”
Bailey sniffled and pressed his nose into Devon’s bicep and Devon straightened his back.
If he was going to make sure Bailey was never in that situation again, then he would have to work harder at keeping Bailey and himself safe, so they’d never get ambushed like that again and Bailey would never have to pick up his bat. There was a reason the weapon was his; Bailey just wasn’t meant to fight. Some people in this world weren’t meant to. But, that was…okay, he supposed. Sure, he’d prefer if Bailey fought too, if only for more protection against the odds, but Bailey was good at keeping him sane too.
To be honest…imagining Bailey like he was earlier, screaming and covered in infected blood and slamming a bat into a zombie’s body to turn it into pulp…made him sick to his stomach.
No, there was good in Bailey being so…sweet and innocent. Devon would’ve forgotten what that was like if Bailey weren’t around; in that regard, Bailey made sure he kept his humanity in this fucking Hell the world had been plunged into.
He appreciated that.
In return, he would make sure Bailey kept his too.
Because, if Bailey were to lose that, the world would truly go to shit.
Is it growing in you? Are you growing on me? Could you be fading my scars? Corpses and nightmares That’s all that there was You burned them away Like a star
Dirt in your nails See you scratching away Beating my sick, broken heart Can’t awake Look for a pulse Am I buried too deep?
Infected, we are... Infected, we are... (Is it growing in you? Are you growing on me?) Infected, we are... Infected, we are… (Is it growing in you? Are you growing on me?) Infected, we are…

Is Ratchet obsessed with gloves? We never see his bare hands. 3:
OHOHO ANON. DO I HAVE A SURPRISE FOR YOU.
Tumblr media
LOOK AT THOSE DANG FINGERS. DANG.
This is Ratchet’s banchou skin in A Crack in Time! You can unlock him by pressing Up, Right, Down, Left, Triangle, Square, X, Circle, R3 at the home screen! But this isn’t the first instance of Ratchet’s lil fingers being shown. In the PS2 version of Size Matters, you can play as “Punk Ratchet” in multiplayer and he has his hands out. In Secret Agent Clank, you can get Ratchet in a towel and shower cap after going through the scene. Also in Secret Agent Clank, “Kung-Fu” Ratchet and “Zombie” Ratchet show their hands. But tbh the CiT Ratchet has better looking hands lmao
ALSO, Ratchet is a mechanic and engineer! He works with and around flames and tailpipes spewing seriously hot stuff. Its to protect his hands and arms! But personally I like to headcanon him being a lil germaphobic

TIMOTHY WILLIAM BURTON.
Siate. Sì a te.
Borsa di studio al California Institute of the Arts.
Tim precursore dell’emo.
Tutti suoi lati,..oscuri? Non credo. Forse sfumati.
Strumento sessuale artificiale. Inconfutabili coincidenze. Anima. Tagliamola rimescoliamola. A Mani.
Incontrarla, sir.
Temo.
Indiot.
