a/n; hihi, soooo. this is something ive been thinking about for a while. i kinda just wanted to put it out. it might be bad, i might take it down. who knows? anyway, enjoy !

what? no, i’ll just take another one. it has to be a false positive-

“hey, y/n. you okay?” 

i look up from my spot where im sitting on the cool grass. i zoned out. everything suddenly becomes too real.

the sun beaming down one me, the sound of cicadas and different insects chirping in the sweltering heat. “no, yeah. im fine.” 

i bring my hand up to block the sun from my eyes. kiara nods, jutting out her bottom lip in the process.

“okay. uh, me and the rest of the group are gonna head for a surf. wanna come?”

i think for a moment. “uh, yeah. ill go.”

kiara nods and sticks out her hands to help me up, wiggling her fingers. i grab them and pull myself up. wiping my shorts as i watch jj, john b, and sarah file out of the house.

they grab their boards and pack the twinkie. i head inside to change into my bathing suit and grab some spare clothes. 

as i walk through the house, it feels different. or maybe… i feel different.

i'll be fine.

i continuously reassure myself and return to the twinkie with my stuff. “okay, we can head out.” i shuffle into the van, closing the door behind me.

as the car drives off, everyone is chatting, laughing, and smiling.

but i have this crippling feeling of dread. the memories of last night return. something abnormal. i know it, but everyone else is kept in the dark.

im so sad that hb:l has been put to an end for the most part :(. but, it was all worth it in the end. by far THE BEST series i have ever read.

@zyafics you did an amazing job on this series! i cant wait for many more to come <33

a/n; hiiii guys ! i lwk feel kinda bad for putting this part off for so long, but i made it happen. but, this is def my longest fic that i've ever written. anyways, enjoyyy !

word count; 0.25k

i quietly sat on the sand as i watched the others surf. they all cheered and hooted. jj hollering something to sarah. my eyes drift towards where the kooks have set up.

topper and kelce joined the pogues in the water, while rafe engaged in conversation with sophia lingering near him.

sophias eyes met mine as i watched the group talk and drink. she must've noticed the frown that had previously settled on my lips. i hugged my legs a little closer to my chest as i looked away.

it felt like i was dreaming. like nothing was real and the universe was just messing with my mind.

sophia mutters something to rafe. he nods his head and watches as she walks towards me. i glance over, watching as sophia makes her way through the hot sand to get to where im seated.

i take a deep breath and exhale through my mouth, mentally preparing to converse with her.

she walks over to me with her signature smile. "hey," she lifts a hand to her forehead to shield the blaring sun. "you looked a little... upset," she paused for a moment, searching for words. "and- i wanted to check on you."

i keep my eyes on her as my chin rests on my knees. I tucked the loose strands of hair behind my ears. she quickly interjects. "can i sit?"

I glanced at the spot next to me, willing but cautious. i looked up at her with a subtle smile. "sure."
