13/06/2023-Cruise around Puffin Island with Starida from Beaumaris 

Pictures taken in this set are of: 1. One of a few wonderful Grey Seals it was breathtaking to see on rocks, in the water and evening sensationally close beside the boat in the water at one point the closest I’ve ever been to this one of my favourite mammals. The one in this photo appeared to wave. 2. The bird of the trip, the one that gives the island it’s name, I was amazed to see these shiny and exotic coloured auks once more this week and really treasure the experience. Precious moments seeing them on the nesting cliffs, on the way and taking off. 3, 7 and 8. Beautiful sunny views into the Menai Strait from Beaumaris afterwards, some lovely time spent at this jolly place. 4. Razorbills seen from the boat, another great experience seeing these birds I adore well today. 5. A Herring Gull that landed on the car next to us in Beaumaris which was quite something to see. 6. A gorgeous Guillemot, an exceptional bird to see so well also some more precious moments seeing them mixed with the Puffins well two birds I’ve long loved. 9 and 10. Views at the beautiful island. 

Fulmar, Kittiwake, Great Black-backed Gull, Oystercatcher, Shag and Cormorant on the largest Cormorant colony in North Wales were other highlights around the island, with Sandwich Tern including diving and seen with a fish and Eiders great sights on the way there and back. A butterfly flying over the boat probable Red Admiral was unique to see. Swift and House Martin as well as ivy-leaved toadflax, pineappleweed and red valerian in Beaumaris were nice to see too. As we made our way across Anglesey to get to Beaumaris I was delighted to spot two Choughs from the car this morning.

Petit Manan Lighthouse, Petit Manan Island, Steuben. Possibly my favorite lighthouse. In the summer, this island is home to hundreds of birds. Including Atlantic puffins, arctic, common and roseate terns, as well as black guillemots and many more. Decided I couldn't draw them all, but here's a couple attempts to try and capture the island's vibes. Can you spot the oystercatchers? MERCH

Puffins

Puffins spend most of the year at sea and only come ashore to breed and raise their young. While ashore they live under ground in burrows of holes in clifftops.

Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson. First published 1883. This is a printing from 1977 to tie in with a 4 episode BBC TV serial. The serial starred Alfred Burke and Ashley Knight. In supporting roles it also featured (among others) David Collings, Jack Watson, Patrick Troughton plus the Blake's 7 'Travis' duo of Steven Greif and Brian Croucher.
