At The Esthetic Clinics, ptosis surgery is done to improve both the function and appearance of the eyelids. To however have a clear understanding of the procedure; patients have to research extensively before undergoing surgery. Consult with Dr. Debraj Shome, a board-certified oculoplastic surgeon for a comprehensive evaluation, know the Ptosis surgery cost in mumbai and personalized treatment plan. Here are the key stages and aspects to be aware of when preparing for an upcoming ptosis surgery today.
Tumblr media
Preoperative Assessment
The first step to a successful ptosis surgery is selecting the right clinic or professional to oversee the procedure. You will have an initial consultation with an ophthalmologist or oculoplastic surgeon to evaluate your condition. During this stage, they will discuss your medical history with you and determine whether or not you are a suitable candidate for ptosis surgery. A thorough examination of your eyes and eyelids will be conducted to assess the severity of ptosis and any underlying eye conditions.
Ptosis surgery in mumbai
The surgeon will discuss the surgical approach, the desired eyelid height, and potential risks and complications. You will also have an opportunity to ask questions and express your expectations. Ptosis surgery is typically performed under local anesthesia with sedation, or in some cases, under general anesthesia. The choice of anesthesia depends on the surgeon's recommendation and your preferences. By observing the before and after pictures of some previous patients, you can create an image in mind of what to expect.
Surgical Techniques
There are various surgical techniques for ptosis correction, including levator resection which involves shortening the levator muscle responsible for lifting the eyelid. There is also Müller muscle resection which primarily targets the Müller muscle, a secondary muscle responsible for lifting the eyelid. Some clinics also offer Frontalis sling procedure which is ideal in severe ptosis or muscle weakness. A sling is be created using materials like silicone or autologous (your own) fascia to lift the eyelid and restore its normal functions. Lastly we have blepharoplasty which if needed combines with upper eyelid blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery) to address both functional and aesthetic concerns.
Surgery
The surgeon will then make precise incisions in the upper eyelid, following the natural creases to minimize scarring. Depending on the chosen technique, they will adjust or reposition the levator muscle, Müller muscle, or create a sling. Excess skin, fats and tissue are also removed during the procedure for easier repositioning and tightening of muscles. You will receive postoperative instructions after the procedure regarding wound care, eye drops or ointments, and any medications. Follow-up appointments will be scheduled to monitor your progress and remove sutures if necessary.
Recovery
It's common to experience swelling, bruising, and mild discomfort after ptosis surgery. Cold compresses and pain medication may be recommended. Complete recovery may take a few weeks, during which time you should avoid strenuous activities and protect your eyes from excessive sun exposure. The final results may take several months to become fully apparent as swelling subsides and the eyelid settles into its new position. While ptosis surgery is generally safe, there are potential complications, including infection, scarring, asymmetry, overcorrection, and under correction.

What Is The Eyelid Ptosis Surgery?
Eyelid Ptosis, or as they are commonly called, drooping eyelids, can be treated by eyelid ptosis surgery. Although this eyelid surgery is intended to treat your health and prevent the onset of more serious disorders, as well as to give you better eyesight and fewer headaches, it also has a cosmetic benefit because it will typically make you seem better. Everybody sees your eyelids, and even a one-millimeter variation in the two eyelids' heights might detract from your appearance. You won't seem sleepy since your eyes won't feel fatigued anymore. Not only will your face be significantly brighter, but your appearance will be youthful and vibrant.
Eyelid Ptosis Procedure:
Eyelid ptosis, a condition characterized by the drooping of the upper eyelid, can significantly impair vision and affect facial aesthetics. Ptosis treatment is essential to restore both functionality and appearance. The primary goal of ptosis surgery is to elevate the drooping eyelid to its natural position, thereby improving the patient's field of vision and overall look. This procedure typically involves tightening the levator muscle, responsible for lifting the eyelid or using a frontalis sling to enable the forehead muscles to elevate the eyelid. By addressing the underlying muscle weakness or dysfunction, ptosis surgery can effectively enhance both vision and appearance.
Choosing the right surgeon is crucial for achieving optimal results in ptosis treatment. The best ptosis surgeon in India will have extensive experience and a track record of successful outcomes. These surgeons are adept at diagnosing the severity of ptosis and customizing the surgical approach to meet the individual needs of each patient. In India, Mumbai stands out as a hub for advanced medical care, offering access to some of the most skilled and renowned ptosis surgeons. The procedure is designed with the utmost care for patient safety, utilizing minimally invasive techniques to ensure a smooth recovery. Surgeons take comprehensive measures to minimize risks, including the use of advanced sterilization methods and precision instruments. Additionally, detailed pre-operative assessments and post-operative care plans are implemented to monitor healing and address any concerns promptly. There will usually be no scars left after the surgery, allowing patients to enjoy the benefits without any visible signs of the procedure.
Ptosis Surgery For Droopy Eyelid Syndrome:
Ptosis surgery for droopy eyelid syndrome is a highly effective procedure designed to correct the drooping of the upper eyelid, which can interfere with vision and impact facial aesthetics. The surgery typically involves tightening the levator muscle or using a frontalis sling to lift the eyelid. This not only restores a natural appearance but also significantly improves the patient's field of vision. Advanced techniques and minimally invasive methods ensure a smooth recovery with minimal discomfort.
In some cases, patients may be advised to use special scleral contact lenses or "crutch" glasses before or after surgery to support the eyelid and improve vision temporarily. These devices help in managing the condition while waiting for surgery or during the healing process. Ptosis surgery, combined with such supportive measures, offers a comprehensive approach to treating droopy eyelid syndrome, ensuring both functional and aesthetic benefits.
Cost of Ptosis Surgery:
The cost of eyelid ptosis surgery varies widely based on several factors, including the severity of the condition, the surgical technique used, and the choice of clinic or hospital. In India, the cost of ptosis surgery is significantly more affordable compared to many Western countries, making it an attractive option for patients seeking high-quality medical care at a reduced expense. The overall ptosis surgery cost generally covers pre-operative assessments, the surgical procedure, anesthesia, and post-operative care, ensuring a comprehensive treatment package.
India is home to some of the most skilled surgeons and advanced medical facilities, providing exceptional care at a fraction of the cost found in countries like the USA, UK, and Singapore. You can rest assured that your surgery can be carried out by an accomplished surgeon in an excellent medical facility at much lower costs than in these countries. Ptosis Surgery: Safe Treatment For Children & Adults
Have you been told you look tired or sleepy? Do your upper eyelids droop ever so slightly? Or does one of your eyes appear bigger than the other? If you’re experiencing these issues, then you may have ptosis.
Ptosis (droopy eyelids) or blepharoptosis is when the upper eyelids droop over the eyes. The disease might look bothersome and can cause functional problems for you, like obstruction in the visual field, difficulty in reading, headaches or decreased vision (mainly in children).
This write-up will walk you through specific ptosis surgery performed at Clinica Fai, India’s leading 360 deg clinic for eye and face plastic surgery.
Let’s dive in.
PTOSIS REPAIR SURGERY – WHAT IS IT?
Tumblr media
Ptosis is a medical term that refers to drooping or sagging of the upper eyelid. It can occur in one or both eyes and can be a cosmetic issue or a functional problem, depending on the severity of the drooping and its impact on vision. Ptosis surgery, is a procedure that is used to correct ptosis by tightening or repositioning the muscles and tendons that lift the eyelid.
Ptosis surgery is generally considered to be a safe procedure, and it can be performed on children and adults. It is also important for patients to follow all of their surgeon’s pre- and post-operative instructions to ensure the best possible outcome.
The reasons for ptosis
There are many reasons why children or adults get ptosis. Ptosis can be congenital (present at birth) or acquired (developed after birth)
Congenital ptosis: This type of ptosis is caused by abnormalities in the development of the muscles that lift the eyelid (levator muscles). It may be inherited or occur spontaneously.
Acquired ptosis: This type of ptosis can be caused by a variety of factors, including trauma, inflammation, infection, or neurological conditions.
Myogenic ptosis: This type of ptosis is caused by abnormalities in the muscles that lift the eyelid.
Neurogenic ptosis: This type of ptosis is caused by damage to the nerves that control the muscles that lift the eyelid.
Mechanical ptosis: This type of ptosis is caused by an external force that pulls the eyelid down, such as a tumour or cyst.
Aponeurotic ptosis: This type of ptosis is caused by a thinning or stretching of the tendons that support the eyelid.
Asymmetry of the eyelids
The best way to minimise the risks of ptosis surgery is to choose a qualified and experienced oculoplastic surgeon to perform the procedure. It is also important for patients to follow all of their surgeon’s pre- and post-operative instructions to ensure the best possible outcome.
PTOSIS SURGERY FOR CHILDREN
It is important to have ptosis evaluated by a medical professional to determine the cause and appropriate treatment. A child with ptosis can tip his head back or raise his eyebrows to try to see clearly. Gradually, such movements cause headaches and neck problems. Ptosis can put a child at risk of vision problems.
When treating ptosis surgery in children, the oculoplastic surgeon considers the following factors
The child’s age
The eyelid height
Eye’s movement
Strength of the eyelid’s muscle
Is one or both eyelids are involved
After determining these factors, the doctor performs ptosis surgery for the patient.
Ptosis surgery for adults
Tumblr media
The ptosis surgery is usually done as an outpatient surgery, which means the patient can go home the same day., Anaesthesia is used to numb the eyes and the surrounding area to complete the procedure. The operation usually takes 45 to 90 minutes, depending on whether it includes one or both upper eyelids.

Personal news: After two appeal rejections with my insurance, third time is a charm! I got approved for IVIG every 3 weeks to help my myasthenia gravis. Unsure how long it's for but I'm hoping at LEAST enough time for cellcept to kick in, as that takes 6 months to a year....so I've been raw dogging my disease with just a symptom med since June and completely no med undiagnosed since March (and really, February because I believe it was on its way to fully generalized as soon as I started my antibiotics and had my surgery.)
IVIG is a short term treatment, hence every 3 weeks needing it. But it is one of the guaranteed things that can work in the ICU for MG (plasmapherisis is next step if that doesn't work, and sometimes people have done a Plex and then IVIG for maintenance after Plex). Cellcept is a long term immunosuppressant. That said, sometimes people need cellcept AND IVIG to get the best results even when cellcept kicks in. I'm hoping I won't need anything once cellcept starts working.
But this is a huge deal to trying to live a closer to normal life with MG. Being able to be social again and swallow better and my neck not being so weak and maybe the gym will feel less difficult (i started going back, let's just say it is not easy) and maybe I won't have ptosis and random double vision and maybe flares will stop being a thing....
I'm just excited I am getting full treatment and my insurance listened to me and the fact I cannot take prednisone due to soooo many contraindicated reasons.

i just want to say i've been treating my eyes for the last couple months and they've genuinely improved considerably. i don't think this treatment is feasible long term and neither does my corneal specialist but there IS a possible long term solution.
my right eye is still so weak and constantly uncomfortable that i've developed ptosis in that eyelid, i've developed double vision in my left eye, and i'm still so light sensitive i sometimes have to wear sunglasses in the house BUT i can see a little more clearly and the light sensitivity has improved enough that i can look at a computer screen at a reasonable brightness setting without tears streaming down my face. i can read subtitles again mashallah 🧎

Horner's syndrome in a cat.
A phenomane consists of :
Miosis (pupil become constricted)
Third eyelid protrusion (the pink membrane comes out)
Ptosis (upper eyelid drop. In this photo I pulled it up to see the pupil better)
Enophthalmos (sunken eye)
The syndrome itself isn't a disease, rather it's a result of sympathetic nervous system getting interrupted, causing the parasympathetic system to overshoot the balance a bit. The problem could originate from the neck, ear, eye, behind eye, or brain. Anywhere along this path can interrupt the normal function of that nerve - this is a simplified explanation.
It is important to find the underlying cause. If you can find it, treat it. The syndrome might resolve on its own. On some cases, it really resolve on its own without any treatment at all.
In my case, this cat has really bad otitis. (ear infection). I am currently treating the ear infection. We'll see where this goes.
To fellow vets, I don't have phrenylephine on hand so I couldn't test for its locality. Treating the otitis first is a gamble on my part. If after the ears are cleared, and the Horner's still not clear, I'll try other things.

Ptosis Surgery Recovery: Expert Guidance from Dr. Surbhi Kapadia
Ptosis surgery, an effective treatment for drooping eyelids, not only improves vision but also boosts confidence. However, the recovery journey is crucial for the success of the surgery. Dr. Surbhi Kapadia, a distinguished ophthalmologist in Vadodara, shares her expertise on what patients can expect during the recovery period.
Tumblr media
Understanding Ptosis Surgery
Ptosis surgery involves correcting drooping eyelids, which can impede vision and affect appearance. It's typically an outpatient procedure, meaning patients can return home the same day after a brief observation period.
Post-Surgery Aftercare
Dr. Kapadia emphasizes the importance of adhering to aftercare instructions to ensure a smooth recovery:
Cleanliness and Care: Keep the surgical area clean and avoid rubbing the eyes. Use gentle compresses as advised.
Pain Management: Take prescribed medication to manage discomfort.
Rest and Head Elevation: Elevate your head while sleeping to reduce swelling.
Activity Limitations: Avoid strenuous activities for a few weeks post-surgery.
Work and Recovery
Patients may need to take a few days to a week off work, depending on the nature of their job and individual recovery progress.
Scarring and Appearance
Incisions made during ptosis surgery are typically in the eyelid creases, resulting in minimal, often unnoticeable scarring.
Dealing with Bruising
Mild bruising and swelling are common but subside within a week or two. Dr. Kapadia advises patients to be patient and follow post-operative care diligently.
Pain and Discomfort
Post-surgery discomfort is normal but is usually manageable with medication. Severe pain is rare, but any concerns should be promptly discussed with the doctor.
Resuming Activities
Strenuous activities should be avoided for the first few weeks. Dr. Kapadia suggests engaging in light activities like walking and reading during the recovery phase.
Makeup Usage
Patients are advised to avoid eye makeup for at least two weeks post-surgery to prevent infection.
Repeat Treatment
While ptosis surgery is generally a long-term solution, in rare cases, additional treatments may be necessary over time.
Dr. Kapadia’s Advice
"Recovery from ptosis surgery is typically straightforward with proper care. Patient comfort and safety are our top priorities. We are here to support you throughout your recovery journey," says Dr. Kapadia.
Choosing the Right Surgeon
For those considering ptosis surgery, choosing a skilled surgeon like Dr. Surbhi Kapadia is crucial. Her experience, coupled with the advanced facilities at Aadicura Superspeciality Hospital, ensures the highest standard of care.
Conclusion
Recovery from ptosis surgery is a crucial phase that requires careful attention. Following your surgeon's guidelines and allowing your body time to heal are key to successful outcomes. With expert care from Dr Surbhi Kapadia and a commitment to post-surgery instructions, patients can look forward to improved vision and aesthetics.

Best Ptosis Surgery Treatment in India
All You Need to Know About Ptosis Treatment
Ptosis is a condition that occurs either naturally from birth or developed later in life. The condition is also referred to as blepharoptosis and it refers to a droopy upper eyelid condition. Regardless of the cause, a droopy eyelid hinders clear eyesight or vision while also reducing facial appeal. This is the reason most people with droopy eyelids go to The Esthetic Clinics for a ptosis surgery procedure. Ptosis is a condition that naturally occurs due to aging as the ligaments controlling and lifting the eyelid gradually weaken. Dr. Debraj Shome, an expert plastic surgeon suggests setting an appointment for assessment before signing up. You can further determine what the procedure entails, Ptosis Treatment Cost in India, recovery, and risks involved.
Tumblr media
What Does Ptosis Surgery Entail?
Due to the incisions made on the eyelids, ptosis surgery can only be done when the patient is under local anesthesia. There are several approaches that medical team from ptosis clinics use to repair the droopy eyelid including the following.
Upper Eyelid Procedure – an upper eyelid ptosis surgery entails making an incision on the upper skin of the eyelid. From the top of the eyelid skin, the surgeon can identify the ligaments that hold the eyelid in place while controlling its movement. The muscles are then tightened to allow for efficient movement of the eyelid through special stitching. The whole process is closed with an incision on the skin around the upper eyelid.
Underneath Eyelid Procedure – this is a unique approach where the whole surgery is done from below the eyelid. The surgeon will have to flip the eyelid to access its beneath for muscle tightening among other procedures. If this approach is used little to zero skin incision is expected.
Three Reasons Why You Should Consider Ptosis Surgery
Before diving into depth on why ptosis surgery will improve your life, you ought to get assessed by a professional oculoplastic surgeon. That is the only way you can get comprehensive evaluation and personalized advice given, especially with both the preparation before surgery and recovery after. These are the main benefits of a ptosis treatment in India today.
Improved Vision
A droopy eyelid condition can be detrimental to clear eyesight and eye movement.  The obstruction could cause partial blindness on the patient which can come with several adverse outcomes. A ptosis surgery is effective for adjusting the eyelid muscles and restoring proper movement of the eyelids for even clearer eyesight. Ignoring ptosis condition can affect eye movement leading to developing lazy eyes which is also another threat to clear vision. This is why making your decisions earlier gives you a better chance at fighting ptosis successfully.
Improved facial beauty
In several ways, a droopy eyelid reduces your facial beauty. There are special instances when the ptosis is worse in one eyelid compared to another thus causing a lack of symmetry. The droopy eyelids can also make you look tired and older than you are. This is why scheduling a ptosis surgery at The Esthetic Clinics would give you a chance to restore a symmetrical facial appearance while also looking younger.
Prevent further eye complications
Like all disorders, ptosis condition can worsen with time which brings about more complications than necessary. Conditions like lazy eye (amblyopia) and astigmatism can potentially develop from a ptosis condition. Going for the eyelid surgery on time can restore the normal functioning of your eyelids hence preventing the condition from worsening. You also get long term relief and results despite the aging process. This is because the improvements achieved through surgery can hold up for some time before the effects of aging hit again.

I walked a mile in one trip for the first time today! And then did some curls, extensions, shoulder presses and pushups.
My symptoms have improved SO much this month even if it's far from perfect. Like yesterday I noticed I had a hard time lifting a lot of things with one hand. Today, not an issue. Starting to understand that this disease just does what it wants day to day and you kind of have to flow with it.
I also have my symptom med timing down. My bedtime/overnight dose is making a HUGE difference as I wake up so much more rested now. This gives me a better baseline for the rest of the day.
I'm really hoping MG continues to settle down. So the two times it's come out previously in 2020 and 2022, it disappeared. Like, maybe some facial paralysis, random mild ptosis and light sensitivity, Maybe some mild diaphragm weakness. But gone other than that. I'm hoping that is the nature of MG for me. It comes and goes and I have to watch for triggers.
I still have ongoing neck weakness that is INCREDIBLY stubborn, but even that is ten times better than it has been.
And again, I'm not even on a short term disease treatment. MG is just naturally calming down for me.
It's a snowflake disease, meaning every person experiences it differently. It seems mine just likes to erupt with major triggers. Just sucks it generalized to my entire body this time.
