Psychotic systems, you are not alone in your experiences. It's a struggle figuring out your identity and life with just one of those things, let alone both at once. Reality is hard to figure out sometimes and having other things going on in your brain can make it so much more confusing.
But regardless of how your psychosis manifests and does or does not affect / intertwine with your system, you are not a freak.
You are not fake.
You are no less than any other system.
You are no less than any other person.
You are important, you are valued, and you are loved.

I saw the post you were talking about and wanted to add, as a psychotic system:
Our reality, regardless of the "objective" reality, is not going to change just because we get told "but you have psychosis! your system might be fake!". Is our system caused by psychosis? Well we're diagnosed with DID, but we sometimes don't know. Just like how we doubt ourselves being trans because "what if it's a delusion?". Sure, most things in our day-to-day life or our personal identity could be delusion--but you know what's less healthy to us than being delusional? Living in fear of not knowing how much your mind is lying to you about yourself and the world.
We might not "actually" be trans, or "actually" be otherkin, or "actually" have endogenic system members--theoretically, those could all be delusion that ended up affecting us after seeing others with these traits. But you know what the point is? We experience them regardless of origin. We have the experience of changing our name and pronouns due to feeling like a man, we have the experience of identifying as nonhuman and possessing nonhuman traits, and we have the experience of living life as multiple. There is no actual objective way to prove these things are caused by delusion--so why should we stress day in and day out about what's "actually" real to others, when our reality only affects us?
I'll go as far as to say that even though these things are not objectively proveable, things that are objectively proveable like physical nonhumanity or seeing things that aren't there should also be respected if no harm is caused by them--and that is up to the individual experiencing them, for the most part. Someone saying they're physically a dog on the internet doesn't harm anyone, especially if it's tagged. Some people know they're delusional but still can't shake the belief--as is how delusions work--so they go with it because it would cause more harm to uproot your entire life and question every little thing you percieve and live in a constant war between the knowledge that no one sees you as a physical animal and the feeling intrinsically that you are.
The main point is.. Even if something is possibly caused by psychosis in theory, most of the time it is not proveably caused directly by psychosis, and would cause much more harm to psychotic people to have them worry constantly that their very identity is a lie. And even if something is proveably caused by psychosis? The psychotic individual should dictate how they want to be responded to surrounding it--reality checks help some, and harm others. Listen to those with psychosis, and do not use us as a scapegoat to protect people with other disorders. You might think you are "protecting trauma survivors" by calling endogenics delusional, but you are being ableist and actively perpetuating stigma surrounding those who are highly likely to be trauma survivors themselves, too. We are not a tool for your hate toward experiences you do not understand.
Don't wanna bother reblogging these people, but just saw an ~~anti-endo~~ say this:
"Just because someone thinks they’re experiencing something doesn’t mean they truly are."
Here's why this is one of the most useless arguments ever:
There's really only three ways that someone even could think they're experiencing something that they aren't. A lack of education about the experience, by mistake, or via hallucination/delusion.
Are there non-traumagenic systems out there who aren't educated on all the types of plurality, diagnostic criteria for dissociative disorders, etc? Sure. Same for traumagenic systems. Not all systems are perfectly educated on all the terms, theories, hypotheses, and so sometimes you're going to get a system who thinks their experience is one thing-- but isn't.
However, this isn't what the OP is implying.
By mistake is mostly the same thing, except this is "the system was fully educated on these things but either guessed or remembered wrong, and eventually found something more accurate for them". It happens. It happened to us.
However, this also isn't what the OP is implying.
Hallucinations and/or delusions are when someone thinks they're experiencing something (or believes something) that is objectively not possible or true.
This is more of what the OP is implying, because they simply don't think non-traumagenic systems are at all possible.
And that's fucking wrong.
It's one thing to say "just because someone thinks something is true, doesn't mean it is" for objective, outward issues. If someone claims their hair is green when it's brown, if someone says they're the president of England, if someone claims they can turn into a raccoon, or that they see dogs surrounding them... those are things that are either physically impossible or outwardly verifiable.
Being a system is not impossible. It's also not outwardly verifiable. There is no one test or brain scan or MRI that proves whether or not someone is a system, or what the origins of that system are. Systems, and what causes them, are not something that can be simply passed off as a hallucination or delusion. It's subjective, it's internal, and there's nothing in science that proves that trauma or disorder is the only thing that causes systems.
Can a system "think they’re experiencing something that they're not"? Yes. Including system origins, or being disordered or not.
Is a system "experiencing something they're not" just by saying they're non-disordered, or non-traumagenic? No. Because there's no proof that it's impossible. There probably will never be proof that it's impossible.
This is an argument that has been made a million times, and debunked a million times. Get over it and move on.

Prompted by common themes we see with nonhumisia and alterhumisia.
(Alterhumans who are alterhuman because of their psychosis are NOT less real, this is about our experience, do not be ableist on this post.)

As a psychotic system who is quoigenic, please do not use psychosis as a scapegoat for your anti-endo sentiments. You do not get to sit there and say "endos are just psychotic, not actual systems". Our system experiences do not come from our psychosis, but even if they did, would that mean we deserve to be harrassed?
Delusions and hallucinations are worsened for a lot of psychotic people by active harrassment and/or denial. If someone actually is a system due to a delusion, they are just as real as anyone else because you know what? They feel like they are, and that will not be changed with any amount of yelling at them or putting horrible asks in their inbox. Their percieved reality is altered but they feel the experiences of being plural and we are not qualified to go around accusing people of being less real. Feeding into delusions can also cause harm and every psychotic person is different, but harrassment will not help anyone.
You let your hatred of a community of plurals just trying to exist bleed into ableism toward others who are already so stigmatised. You do not care about psychotic people or disabled people at large, you only care about pushing your hate forward. We are not your "gotcha" card.

Hi. I mainly have a question relating to otherkin and IRLs, but if this is not the blog to ask such a question/anyone simply doesn't feel comfortable answering, then feel free to ignore this ask. I only have the best intentions. Now, I personally am someone who has experienced psychosis and whatnot, but I'm confused on ne thing; IRLs are labeled as a delusion, understandably, while fictionkin and otherkin are not. No disrespect to either communities! I'm just confused on how one is not a deusion
It's a matter of self-identifying as delusional or not. (Also, IRL as a term has some weirdness about it's origin and meaning, and also tends to have people who use it act very fakeclaimy toward fictionkin, but we'll ignore that for now and just assume for the sake of this post that IRL means psychotically-originated fictional identity).
So, delusions are by definition, provably false. They don't have to harm the person experiencing them necessarily, but they are able to be proven false from outside sources, and then that person continues to believe it despite any evidence.
Fictionkinity isn't usually about a physical identity (though it can be, which does tend to lean into psychosis), it's either spiritual, psychological, or something inbetween. Can you prove a person wasn't their kintype in a past life, without a doubt? Can you prove a person didn't imprint on a character and thus identify as them later in life on a nonphysical level? These things aren't provable to be false as they're personal identities, like being trans (this is coming from a trans person, mind you). They're not delusions by default.
Fictionkin can however, come to the conclusion that their identity is the direct result of a delusion and choose to label it as such. Sometimes, people decide to call themselves IRLs as a result of the origin of their identity--but they'd still be very much welcome to be considered fictionkin too. Fictionkinity is only about having a fictional identity, not about its origin--and psychological origins have been included since the beginning.
IRLs are spefically self-identified as delusional, due to their fictional identity. Regardless of whether their identity is physical in nature or not, they have decided to use the IRL label to denote that their identity is the result of a delusion specifically.
I hope that explains it somewhat.
As we said, the "IRL" label is loaded with a bit of baggage, with links to the KFF (kin-for-fun) community, and often used by people to denote that their identity is "more real" than a fictionkin's identity. People can use it with good intentions of course, but I wanted to note that no identity is more important, more deserving of respect, or more real than another based on origin.
"Endel" is a term that's been made to be used by people with alterhuman identities influenced by delusions, if you wanted to look into psychosis-based identities more.
I tried to answer this as best I could without getting too into community discourse, as you were asking about the difference between the terms/experiences specifically. Hopefully it all makes sense, and sorry for responding late--hope you have a good day, anon.
