OH RIGHT i started to read the bsd manga after like, 2? 3? years of not touching it and every time dazai's shown i just get sad for some reason, also his eyes are sometimes colored in dark and sometimes light and i remember reading something regarding that symbolism on dazai's eyes somewhere, and i took note of it esp bc Asagiri has a particular way of drawing and shading eyes and i dont know how to word it properly i just got home from school

i really really like how blank and lifeless akutagawa's eyes look, theyre just fully shaded and look so dead, idk if im wording it correctly at all but each time he's shown i just look at his eyes and get unnerved

how kyoka's eyes were also just like his in her first appearance but when she started working at the ADA, esp when she and fukuzawa were having a staredown, her eyes were more detailed and bright, its cute and nice to see

my eyes teared up when she was about to sacrifice herself through crashing the carrier she was in into Moby Dick and i needed to pause and blink them away because i was in the middle of class (we had no subjects since it was our school fair and I decided to spend it reading the manga)

but yeah, dazai's eyes being sometimes dark but sometimes light. can someone explain that to me?

shawn's deep trust of lassiter keeps catching me so off-guard like when he's held captive and lassie and henry both turn up he tries to yell "carlton" not "dad" and when he sees a guy with a gun come into the restaurant he goes straight for lassie and keeps trying to get his attention instead of literally any of the other dozens of cops in the room with them and when he's telling someone to call the police he tells them to ask for lassiter, not jules, not vick, lassiter. like he spends all his time provoking lassie but the second there's danger there's literally no one else he trusts more

Something that really surprises me within the Psych fandom is how sometimes people can boil Henry down to just being a bad father that only belittles Shawn. Because,, he’s really not.

He’s harsh on Shawn, definitely. Henry’s constant criticism and impossible expectations of Shawn probably heavily contributed to Shawn being “highly intelligent but shameful” and his using his antics to deflect away from that fact. And coupled with Henry’s tough, matter-of-fact exterior, it makes sense how Shawn “lives in fear of showing weakness.” However, I think that the complete avoidance of showing (and honestly, experiencing) emotion from both of them is also simply a product of its time. Henry’s not the first “toughen up, kid” Dad we’ve seen on TV. He falls into the gruff but caring character trope we see so often in media (and definitely not unlike another character in this very show). And it is shown time and time again how much Henry cares about Shawn. He literally has Shawn’s back from day one. And every time Shawn puts himself in serious danger, Henry’s running after him, cussing and screaming, but not willing to let anything bad happen to his son.

The show even calls out when Shawn himself starts seeing his dad in a different light, after his mom clarifies that it was her that left him, not vice versa. Shawn looks at his dad and sees a man trying. Succeeding? Ehh… but trying. And I think that their relationship is a very underrated part of the show.

Only you know your relationship with your god. Don’t second guess it.

It saddens me to see posts on here and on other sites about how having a causal relationship with your god is disrespectful and you shouldn’t give them nicknames. That just makes me so upset every time I see it.

Because one of the things I know for a fact is if a god felt disrespected by your behavior towards them, you’d know.

If xyz didn’t want you to treat them like a sibling, best friend, mentor, parent, (or even a lover. Not my place to judge.), you’d know. Just because you have that type of relationship with them doesn’t mean you don’t respect them or don’t work with and/or worship them.

They’re gods, yes. But they also love you and want to help you. You felt how they appeared to you, I bet you knew very quickly what type of relationship you’d have with them. What type of role in your life they would fill. Or maybe you didn’t and it happened a lot more slowly. All of that is okay. What’s also okay is if you have a very strict relationship with them, that’s also fine.

But my goodness don’t try to police or judge how gods are with other people.

99.9% of the time it’s the gods setting that type of dynamic in the first place so please be respectful to other dynamics.

You’re not better than other worshipers because you don’t joke around or call a god your bestie.

ok I'm just gonna elaborate on my opinion that the remake of "Cloudy…with a chance of murder" is The Most Evil And Fucked Up Thing Psych Creators Could Ever Do Because Of The Bike Scene Removal y'all remember the "I've been thinking about getting a car" speech right. But let's take a step back and talk about the bike.

The bike symbolizes Shawn's freedom, independence, and in the "Cloudy…" it is implicitly taken by his own father ( which I'm letting go. for now), and in the end a bunch of people prepared to get it back for Shawn, but who gets there first? Lassiter. And it would be SO easy to play it off by having Lassie say something like "I got you your bike back so you could drive the fuck away from my police station", or "you helped me out before so I feel obligated to repay you, now we're even", but no. Lassie's reaction is genuine embarrassment when people found out he got the bike, because it was purely a nice gesture. A nice gesture for Shawn, whom he "hates". So what I'm saying is. metaphorically. Lassiter gives Shawn back all the independence and freedom, because despite all Shawn's antics, he sees him and accepts him for who he is, with all his bullshit, doesn't fall for his lies and literally embraces the deception and rolls with it for eight more seasons, with occasional Gotta Call Him On His Bullshit To Keep Him In Shape. This scene encapsulates the progress of the dynamic between Lassie and Shawn and it's the foundation for their future relationship, where they know they can trust and rely on each other, despite everything. So again, removing it in the remake was a literal crime against humanity and me specifically because it basically erases part of Lassie's character

A lot of people in the autistic and disabled community seems to think early diagnosis is privilege.

I was not privileged when i got diagnosed in an abusive psych ward just to get my needs denied because i needed to "be more autonom".

I was not privileged when my mother/carer said horrible things to me because of my autism diagnosis.

I was not privileged every time allistic people used my disability to make me suffer, i was not privileged everytime i was neglected despite officially needing a carer.

All the early diagnosed autistics who were abused, or even literally died because of ableism and abusive carers were not privileged.

Early diagnosis isn't a privilege, many early diagnosed autistics are also HrSN, and that makes them not privileged at all.

Diagnosis isn't a privilege.

What is a privilege :

- having access to good/safe care and support

- having access to good/safe therapy

- having understanding and safe carers or family

And a lot of early diagnosed people do not have all these privileges.
