Sims in Bloom: Generation 1 ♡

🌼 Gardening has always been Hope's passion. Owning a large, healthy garden is all she has ever wanted in life, even if her nails constantly have soil under them and she has so many broken pots she's lost count. Her happy place is meditating in the shade of the fruit trees that she grew herself from tiny saplings. She sits and wonders what her family will grow to do, and hope that they will flourish just as beautifully as her garden has. 🌼Her favorite colors are white & yellow. She's very clumsy, cheerful, and LOVES the outdoors. She works as a gardener (seed scatterer) and also takes care of her late grandmother's garden/animals.

Meet Hope! I am so excited to start my very first challenge. I'm about 2 (sim) weeks into this challenge and have accomplished so much! Ever since I started playing the Globetrotter challenge by @moonfi; I've been creating a collection of UI Widget style templates. This collection includes 20(ish) different templates for you to use in your gameplay screenshots. I'm hoping I did my best to make this as user-friendly as possible; but if you have any questions or notice something off - don't hesitate to message me or send an ask!

[Tips & Hints]

Open the awkwardwhims psd collection file in Photoshop, then drag & drop the folder or group of templates onto your image.

The photo album template was inspired by @folkbreeze (definitely check out their resources, they're all so nice!) & other various examples I saw online.

Resize the template by selecting the folder as a whole; resizing individual layers may makes things unaligned.

Feel free to change background colors/fonts/etc as much as you want.

The text message template has 3 styles: sender, green receiver & blue receiver. There are also reaction icons & a separate reaction bar.

For the to-do list template I didn't include every aspiration icon (I was trying to keep this file as small as possible) but you can download this pack by @deathbypufferfish that has all the aspiration icons you'll need. However, it may be missing some of the newer aspiratons.

When adding photos (album cover/recent photos/etc) use a clipping mask.

The weather template includes all the different weather icons, so be sure to hide/unhide the one that applies.

For the new transaction template, make sure to only change the number of the price otherwise the Simoleon symbol will get changed to Times New Roman.

The notification message template is for life events, bad events & default game notifications (ie: legacy player, etc).

Dear Template/PSD makers, WE LOVE YOU💖

I really think that we, as a community, should take a second and thank everyone who uploads their resources for free for the community to use! Specifically templates and PSDs.

They've BOOMED in popularity lately with the amazing @awkwardwhims' PSD collection and @windslar's PSD collection! These are TRULY such amazing resources. Editing can be extremely daunting, and having templates makes it so much more accessible to everyone. I have really been enjoying seeing everyone's spins on the templates so much! It just makes me so happy to see people sharing free resources with the community. Thank you so much to the talented creators who take the time and effort to put together PSDs and templates for everyone to use.

I also highly recommend you check out @folkbreeze's PSDs, @lysiablr's UI mockups (I personally used these for years before recently switching it up), and the ts4 template tag on tumblr!

gamplay! meet the Flores family.

i decided to start making posts of my personal gameplay, i thought it would make it so much more fun. this is diego and his sister daniela. their parents recently passed away and left their penthouse behind to them. daniela just became a nurse and also just went through a rough break up and decided to move in with diego, what she wasn't expecting was her little brother to hoe out (lmao). diego doesn't know what he would like to do with his career yet, he likes to sing and play the guitar for some extra money, it def helps him attract the ladies. he might want to enter the teaching career or maybe become a simfluencer?

the gameplay will be mostly focused on diego and his shenanigans. i honestly rarely ever just play the game, most of the time i'm making stories or editing and i want to sit down and actually just try enjoying the game aside from my love island challenge! i'm not following any sort of challenge or anything for now, just going with the flow.

i literally cannot thank @bunnithechubs , @awkwardwhims , & @windslar enough for their psds to make this look so cute and slay as it does. thanks so much! def check them out if you haven't (✿◠‿◠)

hey! i'd love to help, i'm rly bad at explaining things tbh but with taking screenshots i usually will just snap a pic if something looks pretty! and with editing most of it is my gshade preset which is lithium, i also used this tutorial when i was just beginning to use moodlets + other pop ups in my posts, but i now use these psds instead

had my sweethearts take a little trip to Brindleton Bay to visit Deryn's sister Cat and her family! i originally wanted them to explore Whiskerman's Wharf but a summer storm ruined that plan ๐·°(⋟﹏⋞)°·๐ an indoor aquarium date was the perfect solution!

that aside, i've been seriously considering foster care for them and their little growing family. can totally imagine a rowdy teenager in their home!

Hi Ily, hope you’re well. I had three questions so sorry for the ask spam!

I’m so in love with the direction of TJOLC at the moment – I get so excited for each post, which feels like a mini cinematic masterpiece and Rueben’s storyline has me heavy breathing. 🤣 I only recently started following you and have binge-read the whole legacy a few times (I’m also loving the bright, slice of life feel of your MBTI legacy, which feels like a breath of fresh air!).

1️⃣How do you feel like your enjoyment of the game has been affected by the storytelling of Gen 3? I think I read that you prefer to be guided by the gameplay, and I wondered if that has changed or reversed now, and if you spend much time actively playing rather than setting up your scenes? I know legacies tend to have a short-ish lifespan with the edit/post-processing/posing burden and wondered if you felt like it’s sustainable for you, or if you love that side of things? (Thank you for indulging my curiosity!)

2️⃣I love the Mac UI-style widgets you use in your posts (like the camera/camera roll widgets) and wondered if you created them or if you’ve downloaded them? If the former, would you consider sharing them? I totally understand if not and fully understand wanting to preserve the uniqueness of your own style.

3️⃣What are your favourite PSDs to use lately? I’m always on the hunt for more ways to make my gameplay come to life a little more and wondered if you’d come across any gold? 😁

Hi! Please don't apologize for the ask spam! Sorry for taking a few days to get to this. I wanted to ensure I answered all of your questions thoroughly and thoughtfully 😊 Also,Thank you for enjoying Reuben's storyline. I have so much planned for it, and I really want to make sure I get as close as possible to executing the vision I have for his story. My MBTI legacy really is supposed to be a break from the dark vibes of Reuben's gen so I'm really glad that's coming through. 😁 I'm also dipping my toes into a little storytelling with that save... You'll see!

This is such a good question and something I'm semi-struggling with at the moment. In the past, I've let gameplay dictate the direction of my posts, but it's been very different with Reuben's generation. Initially, I wanted to incorporate gameplay posts with posed storytelling/dialogue-driven posts. But I found myself feeling like the gameplay stuff was just filler. The problem is story posts are so much more tedious -- finding the right poses, setting up the shots, and coming up with the dialogue. It's a less "organic" process, and while I love the results and often feel like the "work" is worth it, it does feel like work. For the entire month of May, I was able to post once a day (for each save!) and I thought I'd be able to keep that pace; but I'm literally at the end of my TJOLC queue today 😓. So, no, it's not sustainable. That's why I'm giving myself a week (or two) to catch up and build up my queue again. I also might have to use this time to update my mods, clean up my cc folders, and finally release a little project that I've been working on for a while now.

I'd say 99.9% of the widgets I've used in my posts were ones I created myself. I link my first PSD pack in my pinned post. Speaking of the little project that I've been working on, I plan on sharing some of the unreleased UI widgets and templates in a part two version, so stay tuned!

These days, I tend to use my own PSDs just for cohesiveness' sake. But some of my favourite PSD/template creators are @folkbreeze, @awkwardwhims, @pxltown, and @bunnithechubs. I love seeing people mix and match PSDs from all these different creators!
