Anime vs. Live-Action
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Been working on a little project related to the Lovecraftian AU. There's a reason why Risotto was drawn facing forward. Decided to use the PS2 Doppio since he'll only be used for POV purposes.

The VA anime does redeem itself a little bit by having Diavolo give a monologue in Italian in the intro... goes very hard

I finally got around to watching P5, ofc I had to draw my fav 🥺 Not sure if I'll finish it, since it's just a sketch, but I so very much wanna draw more Risotto's (and Proscuitto's for that matter)❤️
The last time I read the manga was around 2009, and since then P5 always stuck with me. Back then I was hoping for an anime adaptation so badly, but it was looking dire. I remember playing the PS2 Vento Aureo game hours on end to get my fill, and buying discounted figures at a con for €1 each because no one knew what Jojo was (let alone part 5) and no one had any interest in buying ugly 10 old merch from the late 90s/early 00s.
Either way, my hype for Jojo subsided over the years and long story short, I finally got around to watching the anime recently and everything just came back to me lol. I love this series to death. Risotto and Proscuitto have always been my favorite ever since first having read the manga, and I still love them so much and wish they got more screentime. The anime added more scenes with them which is already a blessing, but I'm still craving for more so fanart time it is 🥹❤️

Heeeey! I see a lot of discussion regarding Bruno’s English VA, so let’s continue it ❣️ What do you think of the original Japanese one? How do you compare the two, which one you like more, stuff like that :))
Thank you, Bruno community leader 🥰
Hi!!!! <3
First of all—thank you so much 😭💕 I’m genuinely elated to be given such an honorable title. 💕💕
I honestly do love both voices.
The sub and the dub versions of Bruno are like two different flavors of the same person—to me, they’re both equally Bruno if that makes any sense.
Despite how much I discuss Ray Chase’s Bruno voice, I rarely watch the dub. A lot of the other English voices feel kind of awkward to me. Also—I cannot STAND hearing fucking “ZIPPER MAN.” (HA! Stand… I didn’t even mean to make that pun.)
Nothing takes me out of the moment more than hearing such a goofy, localized name shouted in place of the iconic “STIIIIICKYYY FIIINGAS!!!” And of course, I know this wasn’t Ray Chase’s decision.
The only reason I put so much emphasis on Bruno’s English voice is because—well, to put it simply: I’m a simp, and his dub Bruno’s voice is incredibly hot.
Look—I’m not saying that Yuichi Nakamura’s Bruno voice ISN’T hot… It is! But there’s just something about Ray Chase’s delicious low register that turns me into a fucking mess. It’s rich and commanding, encapsulating Bruno’s sexy essence all too well. Whenever I read/write fics, I always hear Bruno speaking in his English voice.
On the flip side, Yuichi Nakamura’s voice is a timeless classic. Yes, I did say that they’re both equally Bruno, but Yuichi Nakamura’s voice will always be the classic Bruno. Yuichi Nakamura accurately captures the person—the leader, the purveyor of justice—that Bruno is.
Actually—the title of “classic” might technically go to Noriaki Sugiyama (Bruno from the OG All-Star Battle, EOH, and the Ultra Jump Commercials) or Takahiro Sakurai. (Bruno from the 2002 Vento Aureo Ps2 game.
I really like Noriaki Sugiyama’s voice, too. He adds a more calculated, aggressive edge that’s really fitting.

So yeah, those are my thoughts! Thanks for this question; it was super fun to answer!

Eng Dub Illuso or Jap Dub Illuso?
I genuinely love both, but I’m ever so slightly biased towards English dub Illuso. The dub was my introduction to Vento Aureo since I watched it around the time it was airing, and Illuso’s goofy lines are honestly what initially made me fall in love with him (besides his design ofc). Here’s a compilation of some of my favorite moments as a treat.

lowkey hate hate hate current monopolistic dominance of Diavolo anime design! I do think it had some interesting elements (gradient hair and mesh shirt “tails” being solid is a cute touch indeed!) but I really miss the times when we had more variety!!! (also I simply can’t forgive the crime of changing perfect asb design to very mid asbR one!)
isn’t it more interesting to notice small changes in details that happen from medium to medium… i always loved how every game appearance and every figurine had it’s own unique charming points and strengths! so seeing same thing for last four years feels a little dull ☹️

We don't talk about Bruno('s hair). Joke drawing I spent way too much time on, based on the meme corruption series of GioGio PS2:
