My Hero Academia: Ambush Simulation AU - Provisional License Exam
Touya finding out Shouto failed the provisional license exam, something he himself had to pass in order to participate in UA's ambush simulation for legal reasons.
Touya: Weren't you going to do some celebrating thing for Shouto passing the exam?
Fuyumi: He didn’t pass.
Touya: *snorts tea through his nose* He fucking what now?
Fuyumi: Touya!
Touya: *coughing/visibly struggling not to laugh* How bad was it?
Fuyumi: *also trying not to laugh but only laughing because he's laughing* This isn’t funny. Stop laughing.
Touya: *cry laughing, high-pitched voice* I’m sorry he didn’t pass, that really sucks. I just wish I could have seen the look on Dad’s face. Did he turn purple?
Fuyumi: No, but he did go into the garden to shoot off 'fireworks.'
Touya: Is that what woke me up?
...
Fuyumi: *on phone with Shouto later* Anyway, that's the story of why Touya is now eating your victory cake. I'll send you the 'sorry, you tried' cupcakes later.
Shouto: That's fine. Thank you anyway.
Fuyumi: Yeah, weird thing is it's red velvet and Touya can't stand red velvet, so this is some diabolical pettiness. *covers phone to yell* Do you have to be such a child? You're gonna make yourself sick and I'm not cleaning it up!
Touya: *distant maniacal cackling*
...
Touya: *on phone with Shouto later* So I just wanted to ask what the hell happened. Aside from Fuyumi ordering both a 'congrats' cake and 'sorry, you tried' cupcakes and totally jinxing it for you.
Shouto: I...kinda ended up fighting with a student from another school.
Touya: ...we're speaking the same language, and yet I still feel like I mistranslated something. You wanna run that by me again?
Shouto: I got into a fight with another student, lost points, and fell below the passing score. ......... Yeah, I can still hear you laughing, Touya.
Touya: *struggling* Okay, so what have we learned?
Shouto: *sighs* Don't get into fights while taking career-important exams.
Touya: Precisely. Only my exact phrasing would have been, 'Don't be a jackass.' Did you win?
Shouto: No, Midoriya split us up before it got too serious.
Touya: What, and you didn't challenge the guy to settle the matter in the parking lot afterward? Who was he anyway? Was it a he? She? Them?
Shouto: He was someone from Shiketsu.
Touya: ...and you didn't start a rumble in the parking lot? Some friends you have.
Shouto: Mr. Aizawa would have stopped us.
Touya: And there's twenty of you and one of him, what's your point?
...
So anyway, even in this AU, Touya is still a brat living in the madness of his own mind. And after the whole incident on top of Machia, that seems pretty on brand for him.

As An IzuOcha Shipper…
…them not ending up together isn’t the problem.
Horikoshi taking the “leave it up to interpretation” approach and then proceeding to COMPLETELY AVOID ADDRESSING their relationship status is the problem.
Horikoshi failing to tie up that one last loose end for Uraraka’s character arc (not closing off her feelings) is the problem.
Again, I ship IzuOcha. Still do, because I’m stubborn. Would I have liked for them to end up together, even if it was only a somewhat blatant implication that could be handwaved? Obviously. But you know what? Maybe I would be upset if the story went out of its way to explicitly de-confirm any chance of Midoriya and Uraraka being a romantic pairing, but I’d at least respect it and understand it a lot more if the story let Midoriya and Uraraka actually talk about this, or at the very least SHOWED US them talking about this. I’d understand if Uraraka completed her character arc by having a heart to heart with Midoriya and telling him that her feelings have changed, her priorities have changed, and Midoriya understands and they remain good friends. Let’s be real, romance isn’t Horikoshi’s strong suit, despite his many attempts to leave romantic implications throughout the series. I’d completely understand if he just had Midoriya and Uraraka talk and they didn’t end up together, because at least then it still provides both of their characters with closure.
But no, that’s too simple. Let’s just “leave it up to interpretation,” because it clearly wasn’t that important, right?
Well, as many people on the internet have already brought up, if it wasn’t so important, why did you spend so much time putting emphasis on it? Why did you have Uraraka, up until the FINAL WAR, have her crush on Midoriya be a crucial part of her character (it wasn’t her only character trait, mind you, but it was still important)? Why did the penultimate chapter have the class come to comfort Uraraka and tell her that they can talk to her… and then come the next chapter, Uraraka apparently hasn’t done anything regarding her supposed crush on Midoriya? For literal YEARS!?
…see, this isn’t even a shipping problem anymore. This is a character problem.
Horikoshi, for whatever reason, chose not to include a romance for the main character and his supposed love interest. And again, that’s fine, not every story needs to be a romance. Two problems with it here though (well, one problem and an observation):
1) Choosing to not at least address the romantic subplot with a “I think we’re better off as friends” encounter, thus actually concluding the subplot and providing a sense of closure, not only leaves the result feeling underwhelming and frustrating, but also actively damages Uraraka’s character arc. We can have her address the problem that caused people like Toga to exist, but heaven forbid she talks about romance with Midoriya.
2) Despite his supposed aversion to romance, Horikoshi still went out of his way to give Gentle and La Brava wedding rings… he’s willing to establish a side romantic pairing without bringing too much attention to it, but he can’t be bothered to do something similar for the arguable MAIN pairing? It’s the “Togata has special clothes so he doesn’t end up buck naked, but Hagakure’s still gotta go commando” debacle again…
I’ma go ahead and wrap this up ‘cause I don’t wanna keep y’all much longer, but like… being optimistic, this ending was… functional. I’ve got my problems with it, obviously, I don’t think it was BAD bad… but it certainly wasn’t good. It works. Barely. And it’s ‘cause of stuff like this.
Midoriya and Uraraka didn’t need to end up together, truly. All Horikoshi had to do was put the smallest amount of effort and give us something of substance, something with closure. Instead, we got what we got.
I get that he was exhausted and wanted the manga to be over… but that excuse only holds up for so long.

I know Iida gets a hard time for being such a stickler for rules but I actually love him a lot. So much. I love how much he cares about people. I love the way his nerdy rule-loving personality is portrayed as not only okay but useful in a way that isn’t common for his kind of character, and I especially love how his dialogue is used to bring in some levity. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him dragging Katsuki away from the war answering his demands to be set down with “I can’t, your organs have been impaled!!” without laughing out loud
And he’s so funny but also so wholesome and caring and when he catches up to Izuku after the vigilante arc? Crying and smiling and reaching out? Voice breaking as he pleads with Izuku to come back? Actual chills. I just love him a lot, what a great guy

Be Not Moved pt 3
“I told you,” Setsuna said with a roll of her eyes as Izuku stumbled into the kitchen the morning after the party. He was hungover, a little sore and not at all awake enough for this bullshit.
“S’too early Suna.”
He hadn’t even had coffee yet.
“S’there pizza?”
Setsuna pointed to the massive stack of boxes Izuku hadn’t noticed. They were still hot, thank all the heavens, and Izuku immediately felt better after practically inhaling a slice.
He sighed, slumping into a chair across from Setsuna, who pushed a Gatorade at him.
Red, of course.
His cousin raised an eyebrow and waited.
“Kacchan thought I was being paranoid. I never said I didn’t believe you.”
Setsuna snorted as Izuku sipped gingerly at his Gatorade.
“Your alpha is an idiot. Has he not realized that you know fucking everything?”
It was Izuku’s turn to snort. “I do not.”
“Cousin, I love you, but stop being humble before I smack you.”
Izuku laughed and then groaned as his head pounded. He laid forward on the table with a whine. “I’m hungover Setsu, be nice to me.”
“No,” she sipped her coffee and rolled her eyes. “I’m still acting like I’m friends with that annoying snob for you, that’s all the ‘nice’ you’re gonna get from me.”
Izuku huffed and tilted his face so he could look at her without lifting his head.
“I guess that’s fair. Thanks for that, by the way. What do you think she’ll do next?”
“Go crying to mommy and daddy of course. Their business is very intertwined with the Bakugous, which is why I warned you-“
“I know, I know, but it’s not like I could force him to take her seriously as a threat.”
Setsuna rolled her eyes. “No, but you could have convinced him to talk to his mom. Or spoke to her yourself. Auntie and Uncle adore you. I don’t know what her parents will do but I can guarantee you it won’t be pretty.”
Katsuki chose that moment to saunter into the kitchen, hair wet and eyes bright, a towel around his neck to catch the water that dripped down his neck.
Izuku glared at him. “Why aren’t you hungover?”
Katsuki grinned and stopped on his way to the fridge to kiss the top of Izuku’s head.
“Bakugous don’t get hungover,” he said into Izuku’s curls. He grabbed a Gatorade from the fridge and sat next to Izuku, pulling one of his thighs over his lap.
Setsuna glared at him. “I should kick your ass.”
He straightened up with a scowl. “The fuck? What for?”
“Izuku told you that crazy bitch thought you were going to court her. He told you to talk to Auntie and Uncle so they could start detangling their businesses. But you-“ Setsuna leaned over the table and poked Katsuki in the chest with a sharp nail. “-decided that he was seeing things. Now she’s gonna go crying to mommy and daddy, and who fucking knows what will happen. If my cousin gets hurt because you didn’t do shit about this when he told you, I’ma fuck you up. Got it?”
Katsuki grumbled and looked away. Izuku groaned.
“It’s too early for this. And I’m too hungover. We’ll go talk to Auntie and Uncle today.”
“Hopefully you can get on top of this shit fam.”
Setsuna’s expression softened and she turned to Camie with a smile.
“Simp,” Katsuki muttered.
“Takes one to know one, hothead.”
“It’s too early for any of that,” Camie sighed.
“That’s what I said,” Izuku said. He wouldn’t worry about the situation. Not yet anyway. He’d wait until hearing what Auntie Mitsuki and Uncle Masaru said before deciding if he should freak out or not.

Note
does transfem bakugo have long or short hair?
I will be giving her longer hair if only because I can! Though re: the new Icon my intent on drawing that version of her is within the current story arc of CC, not the 'fully out and transitioning' version.

Prepping for this exam is like training for a marathon
All of my section quizzes (70-100 questions) clearly indicate that I know this stuff but then I sit to write the practice exams (225 questions) and end up with scores between 55 and 65%
It's so discouraging, and I couldn't figure out what was going on. But then my husband (clever man) realised that it's just my brain getting tired partway through
So now I'm doing endurance exercises

Bello Licentiae Chapter 9: Even Mistakes Can Be Wonderful
Summary:
tw: ableism, quirk elitism, trauma mentions, torture mentions, electroshock 'therapy' mentions, security threat, discrimination, audism, medical bias, grief, loss, deadnaming, death, mourning Second half of provisional licensing exam 'text' JSL Text thoughts
The tension snapped as Midoriya and Katsuki's groups burst into the room. Akira swiftly stood and snapped, ' Consider the second factor helping you get your license. ' They stalked over to their classmates as the room settled back into chatter, although a bit quieter than previously. Looking over the group, they nodded at the lack of serious injuries and turned to lead Kaminari and Hitoshi to their table when Midoriya stopped them.
"Hey, I know we're not on great terms right now, but I wanted your thoughts on a quirk I ran into," Midoriya babbled. "I think Camie has a Stranger quirk, although I'm not sure what its source is. She can turn into other people! Isn't that cool?"
Akira tensed and slid their gaze over Camie, who slunk into the room around the two groups. ' Really? What'd it look like when she shifted? '
Midoriya grinned, "It was almost like she melted going from Uraraka back to herself. The in between was a kind of muddy, person-shaped blob."
Jackpot . Akira nodded thoughtfully, ' Definitely a Stranger quirk then. Possibly secondary Changer depending on her limitations. Could she use Float Girl's quirk? '
"I didn't see her use it, but it's possible she didn't know how," Midoriya descended into muttering. Akira could pick out a few words here and there about applications.
' I'm going to head back with these two. Congrats on passing, ' Akira signed. Kaminari happily described their fight with Seiji while they walked towards the table, and Akira pulled out their phone slightly to type Camie into their prewritten message and send to Aizawa. They startled as Kaminari explained the folding aspect of Seiji's quirk, but perhaps it was a more common manifestation where the kid was from. There were plenty of electrical quirks that functioned similarly to each other.
As they sat down, Akira kept an eye on Camie while checking on Yaoyorozu. ' You should stop there and wait ten minutes before getting solid food. That should give you enough to work with for the second half, ' Akira said as they took the tumbler back.
Hitoshi glared at his phone before showing it to Kaminari and turning to Akira. "So we're going to find out via news now?"
Akira huffed, ' That's not fair and you know it. They gave no notification of the press conference as far as I'm aware, and only their devoted reporters and ones trusted by the Commission were invited. Raven and Murder God know because of the hospital and League. I was planning on telling Mad Banquet shortly before the press conference once I knew when it would be. '
"So," Yaoyorozu started, a hungry glint in her eye, "you're a legacy kid? I never saw you at the galas."
Don't snap. Don't. Snap. Akira took a steadying breath and settled on waving a hand dismissively. ' I was believed to be quirkless until I was thirteen. They wouldn't have mentioned my existence. '
"You got fixed, though. There have been several since then, though," Yaoyorozu said, feigning passivity but eyes burning with curiosity as she leaned forward slightly. "Why-"
' Drop it, ' Akira signed sharply as their gaze hardened. ' I'm not interested in your bullshit teenage politics, and I'm not going to galas full of people who pretend to tolerate each other for ridiculous games. ' The two glared at each other, table waiting with baited breath.
"Hey, did you hear the rumor that a Quirkless is here?" Kaminari rushed on as the focus shifted, "It's pretty cool they want to be a hero, right?"
Yaoyorozu scoffed, "As if the Commission would allow one of them to get that far. They're not even really people at this point."
Akira shot to their feet, knocking their chair backwards with a screech . Kaminari jumped, falling slightly into Hitoshi. ' You're no longer welcome at this table. You're stable, so leave. Any who share that sentiment should leave now. '
"I was just stating facts." Yaoyorozu examined her nails oh so casually, expression almost bored. "It's not like—"
' Enough! ' Akira interrupted and stalked to her side of the table. Silence rippled outward as heads turned their way again. ' Figures that an ableist prick would be quirkist, too. Now get out before I make you. '
Yaoyorozu's face morphed into shock, hands frozen as they got in her space. With a snarl, their capture scarf rose, and she scrambled to her feet. Yaoyorozu brushed imaginary dirt off a few steps away and strode towards the buffet while Akira glared daggers into the back of her head.
Whipping back around, Akira snapped, ' Anyone else? ' Kaminari practically buzzed with curiosity while Hitoshi looked down with a slightly exasperated smile.
Uraraka stared after her friend but shook her head. "That's so weird, she's usually not like that."
"She is though, ribbit," Tsu looked thoughtfully at her girlfriend. "It's just not directed at you."
Uraraka started to protest, but Shouji and the others shut her down before Akira had to. Nearby students turned back to hushed conversations now that the theatrics were over. Capture scarf resettling, Akira's gaze drifted over the room then snapped back to Aizawa and a couple security guards escorting Camie out, who had slinked towards the door during the confrontations.
As they slipped back into their chair, they shot a text to Anka to warn her about Yaoyorozu. ' And yes, Electric Rat, I think it's great that she's going to become a hero. '
"Oh! Did you meet her? What's she like?" Kaminari started to lean towards them but stopped at Hitoshi's hand on their arm.
' Quite nice, very driven as you have to be in that situation, ' Akira found themself smiling a little.
"Does she use support items, ribbit?"
Looking around the table, Akira took note of Shoji's casual interest, Hitoshi's closed-off expression, Kaminari's open curiosity, Tsu's curious head tilt, and Uraraka's hesitant smile. After a moment, they signed, ' I can ask if she'd like to meet you, but don't treat her like a charity case or a museum or zoo exhibit. If you want to ask a question, first think about how you would feel if it was directed at you. If it would feel too personal, weird, or creepy, don't ask it. '
"Do people actually do that?" Uraraka recoiled slightly, expression twisted in hurt. Akira nodded and texted Anka with the offer.
Moments later, she flopped into the seat next to Akira. "Hey there! I'm Anka Fuji or Apex. Akira said you guys were cool with the whole Quirkless thing. What're your names?"
As everyone introduced themselves, Akira scanned each of them for any red flags. They nearly choked at the odd, knowing expression Hitoshi gave them and signed ' What? '
' First names? ' Akira just rolled their eyes and refocused on her.
Anka fielded a few blessedly standard questions, everyone steering clear of anything related to quirks. Until, that is, Kaminari blurted out, "Have you ever thought about forced quirk manifestation?"
Akira's jaw dropped as they stared at Kaminari. They leaned forward slightly to give a "what the fuck" look to Hitoshi, who looked mortified. Akira turned back to Anka, who was looking at them worriedly but otherwise just seemed a bit uncomfortable. Snapping their mouth shut, they signed so the whole table could clearly see. ' I'm going to assume you don't fully understand what that is because I would hope you wouldn't suggest that otherwise. Forced Quirk Manifestation is an extremely traumatic process and should be illegal. Do not ever say something like that to anyone, much less a Quirkless person. '
Kaminari frowned in confusion, eyes darting back and forth on the table as Akira relaxed slightly at the expression. "Sorry, I came across it when looking at the effects of electricity in different parts of the brain. The articles made it sound fast and relatively painless."
' Ah, Shaker or Brute FQM. The timing depends on a number of factors, but... ' Akira took a shuddering breath as phantom shocks coursed through their body. They gently rubbed their arms to help chase away some of the pain before continuing, ' it's always extremely painful and often deadly. '
Anka finally spoke, voice far less enthusiastic than before. "It's usually forced on us as children or happens when we go through something very traumatic. So Akira's right, it's either going to bring up horrible memories of what was done to us or others in our community." She quickly diverted, "Were you looking for information on your own quirk?"
Kaminari launched into the neuroscience behind why he had seizures and how theoretically he could target specific parts of their brain to increase productivity or turn off specific emotions. Hitoshi looked like they wanted to jump in with why that would be too dangerous, but Kaminari was already going into the risk factors and why he wasn't going to try it yet. The yet drew a concerned glance between Akira and Hitoshi, but they silently agreed to talk about it later. Maybe Katsuki or Kirishima can get through to him .
Anka recommended a regulator in their costume to keep the electricity away from his brain. Kaminari grinned broadly and tapped a note into their phone while launching into questions about her gear. Satisfied that the conversation was redirected from sensitive topics, Akira felt a small sense of relief at the text confirmation of Toga's capture from Aizawa. Now she can finally get some help , Akira thought bittersweetly as their heart panged.
"Pardon me," a Shiketsu student covered in hair walked up. "My name is Mora Nagamasa or Chewyee. Have you seen a blonde girl about this height? I'm trying to find my classmate."
Akira nodded and Hitoshi continued to interpret, ' You'll want to speak with security. If you're the class rep, they should be making their way back to explain the situation to you. '
"Is she in trouble? Camie's been acting a bit odd for the past few days, but I didn't think it would become serious enough for security to be involved..." he trailed off as Akira shot off a text to inform Aizawa of the timeline.
' Like I said, security will talk with you— ah, there they are, ' Akira waved security over. ' It's a bit complicated, and they'll explain. '
As the last group of students came in, including the rest of 1-A, the large monitors flickered to life and showed the battlefield they had been competing in crumbling. All the buildings and structures were destroyed to varying degrees, turning the arena into a disaster site.
"We will have you all perform rescue exercises as bystanders in this disaster site." Mera went on to explain the conditions and the paid actors from Help Us Company. Akira frowned, the name ringing a bell as they quickly searched the Quirkless forums for it. They winced at the less than stellar reviews for discrimination and showed it to Anka.
'You should probably pair up with someone in case they try to grade you unfairly,' Akira suggested, mouth pressed into a thin line. 'Although that could risk them accrediting everything to the other.'
"I've got first aid training and experience, so we shouldn't be grouped up," Anka said thoughtfully. She started digging through her bag and paused a few times with nods. "I have some items that would help with stabilization and finding people. Tailman would be a good pair up in both regards."
Akira firmly nodded and brought her over to the martial artist. ' Apex, this is Tailman. Tailman, Apex. Watch out for discrimination with HUC. '
As the room opened up, Mortis took off with their class, drifting over to run with Siren so they could act as an interpreter. Dynamight, Red Riot, Chargebolt, and Alien Queen split off towards the rock formations while the rest of them headed into the city. ' Tentacole, Earphone Jack, and Anima, spread out and inform us where people are located. Twinkling and Sugarman, you're on breaking up pieces of rubble that can't be moved. Tsukuyomi and Cellophane, the three of us should be in different groups for extracting people. Siren, with me. Creati, Shoto, and Uravity, you should focus on supporting unstable structures and moving rubble out of the way. Deku and Ingenium, carefully move people to the first aid station once that's set up. Tailman, Froppy, and Apex, you know what you're doing. '
When Tentacole sent the location of the first few sets of people over the coms, Deku moved to take a kid on the surface while Creati and Sugarman went off towards an elderly man further into the rubble. Mortis, Siren, and Shoto headed towards a larger cluster of victims as Tentacole and Earphone Jack called out more locations over the coms.
The group cautiously entered the partially collapsed building and, with a little more guidance from Tentacole, picked their way through the lobby and to the stairwell where four people were stuck amidst rubble. Eyeing a partially collapsed wall, Mortis checked the width and signed, ' Load bearing. Shoto, slowly reinforce it with ice before we move anything. Keep a flame going to avoid shock. How are you all feeling? Can any of you move right now? '
"Minus points!" one of the adults called out. "You shouldn't need someone else to talk for you. Heroes need to be able to work independently."
Mortis grimaced but pushed on, ' If none of you can move, that's fine. We're going to get you out, just need to make sure nothing's going to fall while we do so. '
"Looks like we're good to move most of this, but Shoto we need more support for this part of the stairs," Siren reported. As he did so, they started checking the victims for concussions. Once they were confident only one of the victims had one, they started moving the rubble with Shoto.
Noticing a spattering of fake blood on one of the pieces, Mortis gestured for Siren to take it while they activated their speaker, "Sir, can you move leg? Any pain?"
The HUC member frowned but said, "I can move it, but it hurts a lot. What if it's broken?"
Mortis carefully examined the leg first without touching it, noting the fake bruising and mock pained gasp as they put light pressure on the area. ' We'll get you to the first aid station once we get everyone out, but it doesn't look like a serious break. Does anything else hurt? ' At his denial, they gently wrapped and splinted his leg to keep it from getting worse. Once the rubble was cleared, the trio confirmed with Tentacole that this was the only group in the building and made their way to the first aid station.
As the group reached the first aid station, Mortis established what care had been done and what they'd observed. The blonde girl in charge easily accepted the new patients and started distributing work among the other two heroes. Just as they were about to move out towards another cluster of victims, a large series of explosions rang out through the stadium. Mortis immediately checked for loose debris, shielding a few people with their clones as another student batted the falling pieces out of the way.
As Mera announced the second phase of the rescue trial, Tentacole announced over coms, "Gang Orca and dozens of villains approaching first aid station. Send backup to that location."
Grand charged forward and set off an earthquake, throwing most of the minions off as Deku froze. Mortis rapidly signed to Siren, ' Try to get Gang Orca. I'll focus on—'
Eyes wide, Mortis rapid-fire multiplied their clones, creating a barrier between the villain's sonic attack as it threw Grand back. Shoto shot out an ice wall and covered the ground further back in ice, trapping the minions or at least delaying them. As more heroes ran up to the station, Mortis directed their clones to start moving the victims away from the fight.
While Gang Orca was distracted by Shoto, they quickly checked Grand's ears and chest, listening for fluid in his lungs. With the kid only paralyzed for now, Mortis wrapped their capture weapon to support his head and neck like they had with Pixie Bob and started half carrying half dragging him away.
As Siren stepped up beside Shoto, Gale Force neared on a personal tornado. Akira felt a few of their clones dispel early, so they carefully had them lower or hold out their victims and released them once another dispelled. They waved over Gale Force and gestured to the next group of victims that needed to be moved. ' The ones in that section have critical injuries that will need extra support to be safely moved. Only take ones you're confident will not be further injured by your winds. '
"No, I should help with the villains," Gale Force scowled, already starting towards the fight.
Mortis stared at him and sharply motioned to the victims. ' Shoto and Siren can handle Gang Orca, and I can provide barriers for minions who slip through. We need more on evacuations right now. '
Shoto traded bursts of flame back and forth with Gang Orca's sonic blasts, using ice to block as Siren tried to goad him into responding. The minions gave up trying to free themselves from his ice field and held up circular weapons, calling them out as cement guns as they rained fire down the street. Mortis rapidly set up a field of clones as Shoto blocked a number of the shots with another ice wall and Gale Force finally started moving the victims. Between the several hierarchy levels and globs of quickly hardening concrete, Mortis was losing clones faster than they could safely make new ones for an effective barrier. Keeping an eye out for stragglers and any slipping through defenses, they took long dregs from their costume stores to keep up with their metabolism.
The faster rescue heroes returned, grabbing another group as Gang Orca tossed Siren aside and grabbed Shoto by the throat. SHIT. Mortis rushed Gang Orca with their clones, warping to start a new hierarchy chain even as the minions rushed forward.
Mortis flinched as a sonic wave tore through their clones, pulsing through their veins as they fought to stay afloat. Seeing Shoto's stiff body in Gang Orca's clawed hand, they fought every nerve in their body screaming to run. Come on , you can see he's not a Wren. Think. It's a cone, so... there!
Mortis warped just in front of Gang Orca, out of the attack. Shooting out their capture weapon, Mortis used the momentum of another warp to slam the villain away from Shoto, his grip loosening and eyes widening slightly in surprise. They darted back as the minions started to rush the area, only to be buffeted back with them as Gale Force rolled heavy winds their way.
Mortis unsteadily swayed to their feet, vision pulsing as they tried to get their bearings. Pain exploded in their left leg, and it buckled as concrete enveloped it. Mortis quickly warped, blinking through the haze as they checked on Siren, who definitely had a concussion. Knowing that would only make his quirk drawback worse, Mortis threw an arm around their shoulders and helped him walk towards where they left Grand.
Mortis bristled as Gale Force seemed to be working against Shoto instead of with him as their quirks that should pair well together instead dispersed each other. They tucked the two out of commission heroes into an alleyway and darted towards the pair, stopping short as Deku whizzed past, green lightning dancing across his skin.
"What are you doing? Dry him out together! Gang Orca probably struggles with hydration because of his quirk," Deku yelled at the two as Mortis extended their crutches to catch themself. Shifting weight off their left leg, they warped to the side as another earthquake broke up the minions. "Mortis, we need a front line to keep the villains back!" Deku called out.
Why is it always that leg. Gritting their teeth against the pain, Mortis warped more clones forward, rapidly building their numbers back up as Shoto and Gale Force boxed off Gang Orca with a wall of fire. The villains hesitated at their boss' containment and started towards him, only to be slammed into by Deku's Shoot Style and Mortis' swarm of clones. Reinforcements soon arrived, and just as Gang Orca burst free from the firenado, Mera announced the end of the test with the successful extraction of the last HUC members.
Akira helped Hitoshi and Shoto to the infirmary, insisting that if they were getting checked out the other two need to as well. The nurse poured dissolving solution on the concrete as he checked over them and a few others for injuries. After a few minutes, Akira could see their leg again and sighed at the large gash and inflamed area where the projectile hit at an odd angle. Gently pressing on the area, Akira signed, ' Either a nondisplaced break or bad fracture. I'll just keep it immobile and let Recovery Girl take a look. '
"You'd be in a lot more pain if it was a break, so don't worry about that," the nurse huffed as he applied a bandage to their cut. "Mild concussion for you, moderate for you two, so you need to be monitored for the next 24 hours. I've got worse injuries to deal with today, so I don't have the energy for your minor ones. Follow up with your doctor, and you'll be fine."
Akira cocked their head and corrected, ' There are a number of factors that go into someone's pain, including how they show it and what their pain tolerance is. I'm fine with your suggestion, but you should be more aware of this when talking with patients. '
Eventually, they made their way to the board, Akira standing a little outside the crowd with Mad Banquet to avoid jostling their leg. Everyone in 1-A except Katsuki and Shoto was on the board, and Akira glared at Yoarashi as he approached and apologized even as Shoto accepted. Anka was fortunately on the board, and the girl shot Akira a grin as their eyes met.
Looking over their results, Akira frowned at the points deducted for not talking, eating during the exam, and several other issues targeting their disabilities. There were a few normal critiques on their first aid and rescue protocol, but it still left a sour feeling in their gut. A 70 wasn't bad, but still. Other students with "undesirable" quirks and Anka received similar discriminatory marks, so Akira told them to report the results to their homeroom teacher.
As the class went to get their provisional license cards, Akira readied themself for the backlash. They stepped up between Fumikage and Koji and ran through their information.
The worker frowned and looked between them and the computer. "You're an Inoue, though. Why are you registering under your cover name?"
Akira sighed, ' My preferred name is Akira Mori. You don't need to know why, and that is my legal name. '
He frowned but entered it after a moment. "Hero name?"
' Umbra Mortis. ' Hearing the keys clack more than necessary, Akira added, ' May I review the information before you print the license? '
He gave them a bored look but shrugged and spun the monitor so they could clearly see "Umbra Mortis Wren." They pressed their lips together and stared at the man before firmly signing, ' Umbra Mortis. Not Umbra Mortis Wren. I am not taking the surname. '
"Don't be ridiculous, every Inoue does," he scoffed.
Akira sucked in a breath and shook their head. ' Not ones who choose to go independent. We're uncommon, but not unheard of, especially in the early years of the Wrens. '
"No one's gone independent in generations," the worker protested and went to turn the monitor back. Akira thrust a hand forward to stop it and leveled him with a steady glare.
' I am. So remove Wren from my hero name. '
"Is there a problem here?" Aizawa drawled, appearing beside them.
"No, sir, your student is just being unreasonable with their name."
' He added "Wren" and refuses to remove it, ' Akira explained.
"I believe they are being perfectly reasonable," Aizawa said, fixing the worker with a hard glare. "Fix their hero name and move on."
"What happened to Camie?" Hitoshi asked as they made their way back to U.A. on the bus. Kaminari echoed the sentiment while the rest of Mad Banquet looked a bit confused.
Akira glanced up at Aizawa, who subtly shook his head. ' She was sick or something, ' they signed vaguely.
Kaminari frowned and cocked his head, "Didn't you say something about security, though?"
Akira shrugged, ' I saw them with her, maybe she needed an escort. ' Fumikage started to say something, but Akira quickly signed ' sensei. ' His eyes narrowed slightly and his feathers ruffled, but he dropped it.
When they got back to Heights Alliance after the few injured students stopped by Recovery Girl, Aizawa stopped the class before they could disperse from the common area. "If you haven't seen the news already, you will soon, so let me make one thing clear." He scanned the tense students with a piercing gaze. "Akira Mori is their preferred name, and you are not to use any variation of Wren or their deadname. They do not owe you an explanation, and if I hear about any of you harassing them, the consequences will be swift."
Their class scattered, and Akira drifted to the kitchen to make hitsumabushi. As they finished setting out their prep, Sato slipped into the kitchen beside them. Akira shifted their ingredients to make more room as he quietly worked, gathering enough for the class.
"Is there something I can include to honor the person you're remembering?" Sato asked while Akira waited for the eel to cook.
They startled slightly and a small smile slipped on their face. Midoriya probably said something. ' Thanks. He liked konbucha, but don't feel like you have to include it. '
"Nonsense, that's easy to incorporate," Sato softly smiled. "Are you making his favorite dish or...?"
Akira shook their head, the smile turning bittersweet. ' We never got something like this, but he liked eel, too. This was the easiest to prep for ahead of time. ' A few minutes later, they put the servings into bowls on a tray and took the elevator to the roof. Akira nudged the access door with their foot and set their tray down in the middle of the roof next to a couple blankets.
Just as they started taking out the fixings, Akira looked down at their phone vibrating with a call from Aizawa. They picked up with video and signed, ' Is something wrong? '
"Mori, why are you on the roof? Are you alright?" Aizawa asked.
Akira straightened as they registered the pattern of his urgent run. ' I'm fine, are you alright? Why are you running? Is there an emergency? ' After a moment, they added, ' I just brought my dinner up here. '
Akira heard him slow as he sighed. "We get an alert when the roof is accessed for the safety of whoever accesses it. Please let me know if you plan to go up there in the future." After a moment, he added, "You're not in trouble. I was just worried."
' Okay, ' Akira signed as they relaxed, understanding washing over them. Although odd that it was directed at them. ' I can stay up here, though? ' At his confirmation, they hung up and resumed the tradition they'd started when they could do little more than set aside a bite of food for him. Like the other children lost to the Inoue forced quirk manifestation process, Minori never got a shrine, and the outside world never knew of his existence. Family members weren't allowed to openly mourn them for fear of the public uncovering a small part of the family secret. There was never even a grave to visit.
As Akira refocused on the rough drawing they'd made of their little brother, they watched night fall and the stars come out. They smiled sadly and told their brother about the constellations he never got to see and the space-themed hero they met. Akira spoke of their time at U.A., with Dabi, and the spark of hope they were cautiously letting grow as more opportunities opened for their plans.
As they finished their last serving, Akira signed, ' Happy Birthday, Minori, ' and headed back inside.
Notes:
today is not the day to mess with Akira lol so I wasn't planning on having a Quirkless oc but Anka just sort of happened. I actually rolled for both Akira and Minori's birthdays, and the latter's ended up being September 2nd. Decided to switch it to the 1st to spice up the exam a bit😊 I got the idea for what Kaminari's talking about from Electric Fool by drowningInWorkButStill on ao3 And we've got the last chapter title that's a Robin Williams quote. Fun fact I made Moss cry on live from the ending :) Me: ok quick lil interlude for Toga's capture then onto the rescue half 1300 words of conversation later... Me: oops

what are we? ── bakugo k. (1.4k)⊹ ࣪ ˖ part two
"so.. who here has a secret boyfriend we don't know about?" mina asks the first thing that came to mind not even a minute after this impromptu slumber party that's currently held in yaoyorozu's room
after a long week of training and pro hero studies, you lot decided to why not unwind by having a little sleepover at one of the girls' rooms. yaoyorozu was kind enough to volunteer to hold it in her room as she has never experienced sleepovers with others
you all looked at each other with curiosity. curious if anyone was actually in a committed relationship that the class didn't know about. not like it was their business or anything..
"what? nobody? that's kinda hard to believe.." hagakure comments, genuinely surprised since usually at this age where everyone is in high school, you're bound to get into relationships
"i mean it's like we have the time to mingle around since we're busy with training and on top of that, trying to keep afloat with our academics" tsuyu points out, a finger on her chin as she recalls if anyone actually had free time to spare amidst all the chaos your class has been through
hearing what tsuyu said, mina whines, dramatically flailing her arms around
"ugh i hate that what you said is true, tsuyu-chan.. but what about crushes! do you guys have a crush on anyone in class or anyone in ua?" mina continues to bombard everyone with questions related to romance. to you it almost feels targeted because you're not too sure if she knows something about you
"crushes?" uraraka trails off. all of a sudden she shakes her head vigorously.
"what's wrong uraraka-chan?" tsuyu asks, worried
"oh my god! are you crushing on someone?!" hagakure squeals, "you have someone in mind don't you!"
the girls (minus you, tsuyu and yaoyorozu) start to bombard her with questions
"is it midoriya?!"
"is it iida?!"
"who?!"
"it's nobody!" uraraka defends herself, shaking her hands around. mina pouts but drops the subject.
you didn't even realize that you were holding in your breath til jirou points it out
"what's with the sigh of relief, y/n?" jirou pokes your side jokingly.
wrong move on your part
suddenly there was a certain glint on mina's eyes. like you just walked into her trap
"you haven't said anything since we started talking about crushes, y/n-chan.. anyone in mind?" mina grins mischievously.
"no one" you say abruptly but it turns out your own body betrays you. you can literally feel the heat creeping up to your cheeks
"oh my god she's blushing! WHO! IS IT IN OUR CLASS OR CLASS B? WHO?! WE NEED TO KNOW" hagakure squeals in joy, suddenly clasping your hands together as she shakes you
"it's nobody you guys-"
"i've been meaning to ask, y/n-san.. if there's anything going on between you and bakugo-san" yaoyorozu speaks up for the first time tonight
mina and hagakure both scream in delight
"what makes you say that, yaomomo?" you ask, trying to calm your heartbeat at the mention of the boy you think you're seeing..
you and bakugo had a weird, for lack of better word, "relationship" going on at the moment. one would call it a situationship but you're still not 100% sure if it's even heading to that direction
it all started after the provisional license exams. the same night where he and deku had a brawl at ground beta. right after bakugo and deku got dismissed by aizawa, you bumped into him in the kitchen. obviously scared out of your wits that he was looking all beaten up, you brought him to the nearest bathroom to clean his cuts and bruises
since then you and him had found yourselves in this weird "relationship". sure, he's still the same bakugo you first met during the first day of classes. always brash and rowdy but when it was only the two of you.. he was.. a littler calmer than usual
to others, he was his usual explosive self but when it came to you, his tone would be a little softer. still, it's still rough around the edges but the subtle change is noticeable if you were a close friend of his
overtime, you and bakugo slowly became touchy with each other. there were lingering stares, lingering touches when you two were paired up to spar during training and what not
obviously with this sudden change of attitude towards you, the whole class noticed it. why were you getting treated differently by the king explosion god himself?
and before you even noticed it, you found yourself almost by his side at all times in the dorms. may it be in the kitchen where you're basically his second in command when he was in charge of cooking, in the lounge whenever everyone decides to have a little movie marathon or a little celebration, literally everywhere to the point everyone had made assumptions that you two have something going on
have you guys said anything about your little situation? no
have you guys shared a kiss? maybe
have you guys been caught holding hands? definitely. on multiple occasions
but nobody dared to question it. or else they would've been blown away by boom boom boy himself.
that is until, the girls found an opening which was tonight at yaoyorozu's room, in the middle of your slumber party
"i didn't mean to eavesdrop that one time but i overheard you giving him your notes when he was under house arrest for a few days" yaoyorozu sheepishly admits. she suddenly clasps her hands together and bows as she spews apologies for eavesdropping that one time
and like a domino effect, it seems like all the girls have noticed something about the two of you all along
"that reminds me! when we were practicing for the school festival, one time i saw bakugo teaching y/n how to play drums!" jirou quips
"did you guys notice the look on bakugo's face during the joint training with class 1-b when she got hit by gevaudan?! he was pissed!" uraraka adds
"don't think we didn't notice the look you have on your face whenever bakugo comes home from their remedial classes" hagakure teases
"god i've been dying to know! kirishima keeps telling me that he hears bakugo laughing to himself late at night at times now it's all clicking!" mina gushes
all this time you thought you and bakugo hid it well. then again it's like you two even had the chance to properly talk about whatever you two have going on
"so what do you have to say for yourself, y/n-chan? or cat got your tongue?" mina teases, nudging your shoulder
all the girls lean forward, awaiting for your answer
"... we're friends- yeah that's right! we're just friends you guys" you say awkwardly, scratching the back of your head as a nervous habit to top it all off
mina and hagakure don't buy it
"that's not very nice of you to deny your boyfriend like that" mina teases, poking you multiple times in hopes you break (you almost do)
not wanting to say anything else that could potentially jinx whatever you have going on with the blonde, you shrug. it might be a little embarrassing on your end to admit that you and the infamous bakugo katsuki were in a little dilemma you call a situationship
sensing that you weren't gonna budge anytime soon, mina moves on with the subject. talking about what quirks they wished they have from the class
you took this time to pull out your phone and send a little update to your.. friend
[9:24PM] you: so the girls asked me if i had a boyfriend.. [9:24PM] kitkats: and what did u say?? [9:25PM] you: i said no lol cus i dont have one [9:26PM] kitkats: ?? [9:26PM] kitkats: so am i just an arm accessory now or?
right before you were able to reply back, mina snatches your phone from your hands.
"no texting during the slumber party!" she yells, before taking a peek at who you're messaging
"give it back, mina!" you scream, trying to get your phone back to prevent her from reading what seems to be a new message from bakugo
"oh my god it's bakugo! wait let me send him a pic so he won't disturb our party" she squeals, taking a quick selfie of everyone with you looking all stressed out
"and.. sent!" she smiles proudly. after what seems like torture (it was only a few seconds) mina tosses your phone back to your hands before continuing on whatever you guys were talking about
not even a minute later, bakugo replies
[9:30PM] kitkats: raccoon eyes you better not set yn up with someone else when im literally right fuckin' here

i love my sister more than anything in this life, i will choose her happiness over mine every time.
-
bakugou katsuki and you, a relationship turned sour as you both headed into your first year of highschool, at two separate hero academies.
you’d been dating since your third year of junior high, and yet he had never come by to meet your family. although, you wouldn’t really want him to. natsuo, fuyumi and shouto were great, but your father was still stuck in his number one mindset.
he’d basically disposed of you once your quirk manifested, you took after your mother after all. your quirk, shrapnel, allowed you to produce and shoot shards of ice at your opponent, but you always ran cold as a result.
shouto, now he was exactly what your father wanted. you’d been allowed to play with your siblings growing up, allowed to do normal childhood things as you watched your twin brother get beaten down by your father. he’d come into your shared childhood bedroom in tears almost every night, and you’d be there to comfort him, every single time.
so when you’d gone to shiketsu to spite your father, you’d essentially split with shouto. developing your own life and your own personality.
all while dating his future classmate.
and when you and bakugou broke up, shouto was furious at the boy. but the blonde haired boy just chalked it up to todoroki being jealous.
until he saw you both side by side at the provisional licensing exam. he didn’t know how he missed it before, but you and todoroki looked exactly alike aside from his two-toned hair and your snowy white locks. the fact that your last name was your mother’s maiden name wasn’t helping him find out shouto was your brother.
you’d found bakugou as you were trying to outrun an entire class from another school, but what you didn’t expect was for bakugou to have a group with him.
an electric type was rather smart, despite the way he looked.
“hey, bakugou. she looks a lot like todoroki, right?” he just stared at you, still. until he smiled, his canines visible as you were frozen in place, your shiketsu cap lying on the ground next to you as you looked up from where you were sat on the ground.
he was planning to attack you.
he sent a cluster of explosions your way, was he trying to kill you?
a block of ice appeared, taking up the blasts force as your brother ran towards you, grabbing your hand and forcing you up.
“todoroki? what the hell are you doing, man?! she’s the enemy!” a spikey, red haired man was shouting at your brother who was currently dodging or deflecting every attack that was headed your way.
“she’s not the enemy, she’s my sister.”

My Hero Academia: Ambush Simulation AU - Provisional License Exam Pt 2
Part 1
Still the phone convo:
Shouto: All joking aside--
Touya: I never joke about a rumble.
Shouto: All joking aside, I guess you can finally tell me how your exam went.
Touya: ...I suppose I could.
Shouto: ...
Touya: They make you do the thing with the targets?
Shouto: Where did you place yours?
Touya: Everyone in the Vanguard clustered them around their stomach. Figured that's the part of the body everyone instinctively tries to protect when threatened.
Shouto: That's a good point. During that phase, I also found one area where I need to get stronger.
Touya: Yeah?
Shouto: When I went off on my own, I ran into a group of guys from another school. They attacked me with projectiles made from tungsten and I couldn't even scratch it. I need to work on my heat output.
Touya: ....
Shouto: You still there?
Touya: Shouto, do you know the melting point of tungsten?
Shouto: ...no.
Touya: Guess.
Shouto: Just tell me.
Touya: I want to hear you guess.
Shouto: *sighs* 1400 Celsius?
Touya: That's steel. Higher.
Shouto: 1800?
Touya: Titanium. Higher.
Shouto: ...2000?
Touya: You're not even close.
Shouto: What is it?
Touya: The melting point of tungsten is approximately 3400°C. Even I can't melt it, and I'd probably kill myself if I tried.
Shouto: It's that high?
Touya: Highest melting point of the known metals, and twice the temperature a blue flame can reach. And you should know by now orange flames only go up to 1200° max and white are 1500° max, so you couldn't even melt my piercings. Take my advice and stick to something manageable. Like copper and iron. Maybe work your way up to steel eventually. But leave tungsten alone, okay?

You tend to Katsuki.
1k words
Tumblr media
You sat in the common room of the dorms making yourself busy at one of the tables studying. Absentmindedly you turned the pages of your book and scanned the materials, not actually digesting any of the information.
Secretly, you weren't concerned with studying. Your actual reason for hanging around the common room was to wait for Katsuki to come back. It was Saturday, which meant he was with Shoto at their supplemental classes to make up for not passing the provisional licensing exam.
Finally, after what seemed like too long, Katsuki came bursting through the door. An annoyed expression on his face as he turned to yell some obscenities back at Shoto.
Shoto followed him through the front door and Katsuki turned sharply away from him. It was apparent that Katsuki was eager to get away from the two-toned-haired boy.
Katsuki glanced over at you briefly but kept making his way through the common room. His cheek had a large bandage that was already turning crimson from whatever wound was on the other side.
You watched as the two boys split ways, Shoto made his way over to talk to Hanta and Katsuki vanished into the elevators to go up to his room.
You waited a moment before texting Katsuki.
[You]: That looks like a nasty cut. What happened?
[Katsuki]: I hate texting. Just come up.
You happily shut your book and rushed over to his dorm.
Knocking gently, you heard Katsuki's irritated yell on the other side, "Told ya already- just come in."
You opened the door and were met with the sight of him putting away the belongings he brought to the extra classes today. The bandage on his cheek being in better view, you could see that it was in desperate need of being tended to.
"That looks even worse up close," You stated.
"Tch- It's not even a big deal," he replied, downplaying the injury.
"How did it happen?" You asked.
Katsuki grunted as he finished putting away his stuff and sat down on the edge of his bed, "Some dumb ass training where we couldn't use our quirks. What the fuck is the point of that?!" He said irritated.
"Sounds like your worst nightmare," you laughed trying to lighten his mood. You fixated your eyes back on the bandage and the blood stain that now soaked through. "Why don't you let me change that for you?" You offered.
"HAH? I can do that myself idiot," he said being stubborn.
"I know you can but- I need practice. Tending to wounds is a part of hero work too, right? So- let me practice on you," you suggested, hoping that excuse would change his mind.
Katsuki thought for a moment before shrugging his shoulders in agreement, "First aid is in the bathroom cabinet," he said gesturing to the bathroom.
You rummaged through his cabinet to find another bandage and antiseptic ointment. "I don't think I've ever done this for someone else before," you stated as you came back into the room and sat next to him on the bed.
"It isn't hard," Katsuki huffed. Resting his elbows on his thighs as he kept his gaze straight forward giving you better access to his cheek.
You scooted closer and crossed your legs onto the bed to tend to his wound. "These classes have really been a pain for you, hu?" You asked, gently peeling away the soiled badge on his cheek.
Katsuki clicked his tongue annoyed by your comment, "It's nothing I can't handle!" He barked, eyebrows furrowed, and nose scrunched.
You giggled at his response, "Such a tough guy," you teased and squeezed some of the antiseptic ointment onto your finger. "You know- it can be both things. Something you can handle and a pain at the same time."
Katsuki opened his mouth ready to make another snarky comment when your finger met his wound. Any snide remark he had ready, vanished at the gentle way your finger grazed over his cut. Eyebrows softened, and shoulders dropped he let out a sigh.
The ointment stung, but he wasn't focused on that at all. Instead, he was focused on the way his heart rate increased the second you made contact with him. He hated it- but wanted more at the same time.
"What? Going speechless on me now?" You asked teasing his sudden muteness. You prepared the new bandage and got it ready to place over his wound.
"No," he grunted, voice lower than before. Another moment passed before he spoke, "The classes are a pain. God dam Icy Hot gets on my nerves. Acting like we're friends now just because we're in these shitty classes together. He makes everything a hundred times worse." Katsuki explained as you gently pressed the new bandage on to his cheek.
You smiled at Katsuki's honesty and decided to tease him further. "Wait- you mean he isn't your best friend? That's strange he's been telling everyone that."
"The fuck? Are you serious?" Katsuki asked, turning to you, his eyes catching yours. Noticing for the first time how close you really were to him, his cheeks flushed.
You smiled and a giggle escaped you. Immediately he recognized the amusement on your face. If it was anyone else, he'd blow a fuse but- with you, he was distracted by the way your smile lit up your eyes and the way your laughter forced him to smile too.
"Tch- brat. Don't mess with me like that," he said and playfully shoved your shoulder, causing you to laugh even harder.
"I'm sorry- I couldn't help it," you said in between giggles.
If you weren't laughing so hard maybe you would have noticed the soft smile Katsuki had or the way his cheeks warmed slightly.
"Whatever-," he said brushing off his emotions. "You eat yet?" He asked.
"Nope," you answered laughter subsiding.
"Good- let's go downstairs I'll make us something." He offered.

I don't need to, but I'll explain my Bakugou hate because I want to.
Long post. Beware
When I started reading the series I was the same age as the characters. Looking at my interests you can probably guess that I was bullied, but instead of getting all sad, I got angry at the people treating me poorly.
So as soon as Bakugou was introduced, I didn't like him. Seeing someone my age verbally threaten and physically attacking people without being punished just really put me in a bad mood whenever he showed up.
Then certain parts of the fandom got incredibly toxic, and suddenly the author is pandering to the worst of them
But the problem keeps getting worse. The entire world warps to kiss his ass. He got everything he wanted at every turn. He deserved nothing and got everything.
Immediately established as a long-term bully. His bullying is then retroactively justified by the world itself saying that Midoriya is worth less than Bakugou as a person.
Why did Aizawa, who was famous for expelling students, not so much as give Bakugou detention for trying to attack Midoriya on the first day of school?
Why didn't All Might punish him for using that gauntlet in the Battle Trials?
Despite all of his actions so far, just since being accepted into UA, the other students still want to be friends with him. They actively choose to spend time near him.
Why is it never mentioned how him(and Kirishima) attacking Kurogiri and getting in Thirteen's way is a large part of why the USJ played out how it did?
His speech at the Sports Festival
Everyone wanting to be on his team, but he doesn't know any of their names or quirks.
Trying to make an unconscious Todoroki fight back in the finals
Aizawa constantly excusing all of his behavior, circling back to my point about the world itself justifying Bakugou's shitty behavior
Attacking Midoriya in the Final Exam.
How did Sero fail his exam by being carried out but Bakugou passed?
At the Training Camp, he actively tried to go fight the villains that have openly stated were trying to capture him. Making himself an easy target and hindering the people trying to protect him
During the Rescue Operation he somehow managed to hold his own against the majority of the League of Villains on his own? Really?
He forced Midoriya to break curfew and just starts attacking him until Midoriya fights back. It's caught on camera and Midoriya somehow gets in the same amount of trouble?
And for some reason he gets let in on the secret of One for All after being such a monumental asshole since forever, despite the fact that even Inko doesn't know? Or literally anyone who would be, like, supportive of Midoriya?
He failed the Provisional License Exam, but don't worry there's a special make-up class just for the people that made it into the second half. Everyone who failed in the first half will have to wait for the next exam.
Oh wow, flawless victory in the Joint Training Arc by displaying teamwork out of thin fucking air that was really just him barking orders at the others.
For a while we just get his usual brand of egotistical asshole-ery and now being needlessly shoved into places where Midoriya's actual friends should be. Or even any of the other side characters. Horikoshi, give them some screen time
But then the war arc and the vigilante Deku arc all just get down on their knees to suck his dick so hard that his quirk evolves and his heart explodes. And I finally get a glimmer of hope for the series to finally stop shoving him down our throats, but no.
Edgeshot decides that this one kid is so important that he will sacrifice his own life to save Bakugou specifically and no one else is on his level of importance.
Going back a step; That apology was pure fucking lip service. Not a single goddamn thing changed in the way he acted afterward. He had a couple of "soft" moments when he wasn't actively screaming and cursing, but that's it.
And Horikoshi keeps fucking doing it.
Somehow each and every thing has to include Bakugou or be about how it's effecting Bakugou or has to mention Bakugou.
The majority of the (much more interesting) cast has been completely forgotten, and Midoriya's characterization got taken out back, given three rounds to the head, skinned, washed in bleach, and hung out to dry, but Oh Wow! BAKUGOU'S HERE!
I said it before and I'll say it again, I'd throw a brick at him.
These are only the broadest strokes of what happened too. If I reread the entire series I could write a massive in-depth character analysis, but that's too much even for me.

Reality Show: Pro Heroes Wives (Todoroki Shoto Edition)
There is a reality show where pro heroes' wives are on television and paid to be there. It is juicy gossip and pure drama. There are a few wives in this second season who were kept out of the spotlight which adds mystery and theories to be created about who they were married to.
The beginning of this reason already revealed which Pro Heroes Wives will be featured which is the reason why it has been a hot topic. There are some Pro Heroes who have kept their spouses out of their social media for numerous reasons. The Number 3 Pro Hero Shoto was one of them who kept the identity of their spouse under wraps. There were only a few people who knew about you being his spouse through private events such as parties
This week's episode was about the reveal of who was Pro Hero Shoto’s spouse causing fans to talk about the reveal. The mystery of who was able to capture the Heartthrob Hero. You had lost one of the challenges and had to give a clue of whom you were married to which was a reference at the very beginning of his journey of becoming a hero. He has now already changed that part of his costume to get rid of the name from children.
“My name is not five weenies.”
Within the house, people who didn’t already know the connection are having the hardest time making the connection. People who haven’t followed the Pro Hero Shoto from the beginning wouldn’t get the reference. Years have passed since that name was attached to his identity as a hero. It wasn’t something that could be searched through the internet, easily.
The culprit who ended up tweeting who it was referencing was a young child back then during the provisional exam for Pro Hero Shoto and Pro Hero Dynamite to get their licenses. The culprit is now working an apprenticeship at The Pro Hero Shoto agency. They had accidentally used their official account instead of their private account.
OfficalBing: “My name is not five weenies.” *attaches a very young-looking Shoto with his costume with circles around where the five weenies come from.* #ProHeroShotowife
The Pro Hero Chargebolt official account liked the tweet which is how it was blown up in a matter of hours. Fans search through the internet making connections to confirm it. There are a small number of pictures posted on social media of the two of you showing any sort of intimacy. The evidence of the five weenies was indeed Shoto that was dug up through the Pro Hero Chargebolt at the beginning of his account during his time at U.A High School. There was also a clip of an old interview with Shoto saying that same thing.
Overnight, the five weenies became a meme against the Pro Hero will, something he has tried to prevent from happening by changing that part of his costume.
Overall the Pro Hero confirms his fan's theories by posting a few pictures of the two of you kissing each other and a super old picture of his younger self kissing your cheek with a bewildered face. The two of you were huddled underneath a blanket on a couch with the sunset in the background.
At TikTok, The Pro Hero Pinky posts a collaboration of the two of you being cute in private events including clips of the pro hero having a smile while looking at you with so much adoration and love regardless of the setting.

Ochaco Uraraka and Katsuki Bakugou: Who saves heroes when they’re the ones in trouble?
Do ya’ll every think abt how Katsuki took over the “who supports/saves heroes when they’re the ones in trouble” plotline in the current arc, which Ochaco originally had? Yes, that question came to her first when she saved Izuku from the Blackwhip rampage with the help of Shinsou, and once more reflected on that said question with her speech to let Izuku in UA.
But the thing is, her attention has shifted from saving heroes (Izuku) to villains (Toga); even during her speech to save Izuku, she thinks of Toga’s smile and ever since then couldn’t stop pondering it—so much so that she had to voice out this dilemma to Izuku which, after talking to a bit, had her arrive at the same conclusion to save their respective villains.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Where does Katsuki come in this? Well, as seen from his development in the JT arc, a lot of it is centred around being willing to “be saved” and “save” as a hero towards other heroes. He acknowledged the save aspect of “win to save, save to win” and had therefore improved on his ability to lead a team and find compatibility in working with them (Also notice the placement of the texts lmao).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is a huge sign of improvement, as he used to despise the idea of being saved/helped cause he believed it to be a sign of weakness and vulnerability. Also, the “saving” aspect of heroism wasn’t something that came naturally to him, so instead he put most his energy into winning in order to compensate for it. It was huge character flaw that held him back in a number of ways. However, that flaw had began to unravel bit by bit as early as the final exam arc when he and Izuku had to work together, then the Kamino arc (where he took Kirishima’s hand), the provisional license exam arc (where he trusted Kirishima and Kaminari to win and save him) and had since been accelerated after Deku vs Kacchan pt. 2.
Further down the line, we have seen him grow into the belief that heroes save everyone, even other heroes. But as he’s been opening up to this idea, Izuku’s been closing himself off from this idea in relation to himself. His self-sacrificial tendencies, something Katsuki’s already aware of, were now worsened due to the duty and weight of carrying OFA. As he allowed himself to worry, it became clear to him that Izuku will not share his burdens unless someone insists their presence. Because of that, he’s made it his personal job to follow Izuku to war, catch up to his pace and match him, and make sure he doesn’t endanger himself (this is true before, during, and after Katsuki Bakugou rising).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Going back to Ochaco, it’s clear that both she and Katsuki’s focal point in the “saving other heroes as heroes” plot line is Izuku. The idea of them also being heroes who save heroes had been introduced in the same arc, which was during the JT arc. The difference is that Ochaco had mostly diverged from this plot line, while Katsuki has made it his main priority alongside winning (save to win), cause saving people is what paves the path to absolute victory. He even singles himself out as being the person who steps in when Izuku can’t handle it all on his own. Furthermore, he worked together with Izuku in saving All Might (both their childhood hero) to win against AFO.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So what gives? Why was Ochaco the person to introduce the question of who saves heroes, when Katsuki’s the one to pedal it in the final arc? Why didn’t Horikoshi stick with this motivation for Ochaco when it could’ve been used as an opportunity to make leeway for more romantic tropes concerning the main couple? Where the presumed heroine wants to save the hero, is closest to the hero, and becomes targeted by the villains. The answer is simple.
Horokoshi isn’t following a formula, and loves subverting our expectations.
Ochaco’s crush towards Izuku and former motivation of being the one to support/save heroes acted as a red herring to Toga. Her crush introduced the conflict of how to love others and yourself authentically, a conflict that’s central to Toga and Ochako’s fights all the way up to their final confrontation. Then the “who saves heroes” plot line is what put a crack in her imagine of hero society, a society who views heroes as infallible and abuses their selflessness, making people such as Deku—someone she had idolised for his heart and self-sacrificial traits—buckle under the weight of unrealistic expectations. Although this was important to the development of Izuku and Ochaco’s relationship itself, considering her speech which emphasised that she was one of the first people to truly support Izuku, it also made leeway for her to reflect on how hero society views villains, too. Then there she discovers that she wants to see Toga smile again, and find her among the crowd of happy faces in front of her.
Tumblr media
Katsuki, on the other hand, takes on the roles that were expected to be given to Ochaco on account of her ‘love interest’ status. He’s the person whose consistently been saving/supporting Izuku from the first to the last war, the person targeted by ShigAFO cause of his closeness to Izuku, the person that has known about OFA longer than his peers, and the person at the center of Izuku’s “control your heart” plot line. The choice for Katsuki to take on these roles weren’t made willy nilly, as the narrative makes sure time and time again to emphasise that his relationship with Izuku is unique, complementary, deeply personal, and intimate; they are two people who complete each other’s brand of heroism by having what the other doesn’t.
Anywho, that doesn’t mean his individuality as a character is diminished cause these roles are typically associated with lazer-focused-on-the-mc heroines. Remember, his biggest character flaw had to do with being too independent and hyper focused on winning. He was a hero who formerly had trouble with the concept of being saved and saving others, especially towards the person he had refused the hand of and despised all these years, so it’s impactful and telling of his character development to now be the one who outstretches his own hand to other heroes, notably to his classmates and All Might, and most importantly Izuku.
His journey is of reaching an understanding with the person he wronged and couldn’t understand due to the views hero society ingrained in him, and to save that person from themselves. It’s understanding that heroes such as him, Izuku, and All Might, no matter how much power they hold, won’t always win if they refuse saving and support; so far, his arc focuses on the humanisation of heroes. It’s not unlike Ochaco’s, Izuku’s, and Shoto’s, who want/wanted to reach an understanding and save the people they had despised and couldn’t understand due to the views hero society ingrained in them; their arc focuses on the humanisation of villains.
That’s why I’m hopeful about DvK3 happening, where it’s Katsuki’s turn to see and respond to Izuku’s inner turmoil, and save him by his words.
Anyways, I’m sure by now we’ve all reflected on the romantic implications the roles Katsuki takes on, so I think bkdk being implied canon isn’t far off. However, I’m still not sure on what kind of deconstruction/subversion Hori is aiming for—does he want to say that the tropes usually applied to love interests can be platonic? As to say that romantic relationships aren’t always the closest? Or is the rival the actual love interest, and the perceived love interest is not. We’re not sure yet.
