Ottawa’s job market is a fascinating blend of diverse sectors, yet it is predominantly marked by an overwhelming presence of government-related employment. This scenario sets Ottawa apart from other major Canadian cities, where private sectors often dominate.

if yall think canada will be any better a conservative government who is embracing trumpublican moral panic will make the country safer for jews instead of simply confirming the antisemitic mob's views of zionism being an evil right-wing ideology and further fuck over marginalized groups, you are deeply mistaken

Fellow Canadians, if you are as worried as I am about what's happening in South Canada, I urge you to try to understand our own government.
We all know the Libs aren't getting in next year. People have forgotten why we protested-vote against the Conservatives all those years ago and the new findings on shifty usage of money (honestly nothing new here, look at the end of the last time the Libs were in power) and idk about your bubble, but mine wants to protest-vote to a party that litterally has no chance of getting elected (The Bloc is only for our Province, it's a stupid choice imo, but people seem to think wishfull thinking will work in this case🙄 go off i guess, but there'sno way to get majority with the bloc and last time we've had a minority government it didn'tlast 4 years before imploding.)
Here's two video to get you started:
youtube
This one is Ontario based and goes into the basics of who is in charge of what in our politics. You can apply what is relevant to your own province.
youtube
That one is pretty long but goes in deep. Good to know stuff but not vital, just thought I'd put it here because i haven't seen another video doing the same in so much details.
youtube
And this one explains what's happening right now, and what it actually mean.
I personally don't always align with JJ (mainly because he hates French speakers and quebecers, which i am) but it feels more like a level headed conversation on these subjects, rather than hitting your head against the wall, and i think that's a good thing to have in your life.
And last of all, please read about the party you're going to vote for. Not just their general lines, but look at what they did during the last 4 years. If they had minority votes, look at what they tried to pass, on top of the on the ground actions their reps have done. If they hadn't enough of a weight, then look at their litteral actions: where they on the ground? Did they help push a petition that is close to your heart? That sort of thing.

I've had my car for a year now and I have never once parallel parked*
I'd like to go to an exhibition this weekend, but there is only roadside/on-street parking available (I've even double checked on google streetview to be sure. and for a few blocks in every direction) and honestly I am panicking a little because this is it. it's unavoidable now. I will have to parallel park.
(* of course, I did parallel park twice during the test to get my license, but that was between poles and traffic cones, not between real people's cars which could be bumped into)

My Canadian followers please never forget that even the “truth” part of truth and reconciliation is a sham because all levels of government still refuse to acknowledge that there were way more than 139 residential schools as they intentionally left those that were provincially or privately funded out of the TRC settlement agreement

there is, i think, this idea in-canon that isaboe and finnikin are frustrated by the (artificially-imposed) limitations of their positions on a purely personal level, when (if i am being honest) i think this attempt to conform to the skuldenorian idea of a monarch & consort limits their political competence as well. like this idea is predicated on the existence of a king, in a context where women (and therefore queens) are inarguably inferior. & the contradiction that results from trying to map this onto their relationship sends everything to shit, because they never figured out how to be equals in their relationship (also honestly idk if they can work that out given the absolute monarchy thing) so you get finnikin attempting to assert himself as a man & isaboe having to react to this & his masculinity feeling threatened by this etc.
& this follows into how they govern as well because by necessity these aspects of their life are intertwined. celie says the source of their friction is disagreements on the nature of truth, and this is certainly true of book 1 (you do see finnikin misogyny here but it combines with & is secondary to this issue) but in the other two it's really really not. like there, their conflict is the personal bleeding through even though they never really disagree on a base level about what to do politically
really what they need is a radical restructuring of lumatere government but that is terrifically unlikely for reasons of the divine right of kings being real in skuldenore. oh well

on the whole applying for jobs was a slightly soul-crushing experience but it did end up taking basically the ideal length of time: just long enough for me to finish my thesis, get some free macarons from an interview at a bakery, and not have to go to the interview i had scheduled this afternoon (i didn't get hired by the bakery, btw. i got hired by the provincial government, which pays much better)

Ms Smith: I do want to talk for a moment about postsecondary institutions, Mr. Speaker. Let’s be frank. I don’t know if it needs to be said or not, but it’s my observation that at this current moment in time Ottawa’s priorities are not Alberta’s priorities. Alberta has been funding targeted enrolment expansion based on Alberta’s labour market in order to ensure that industry and job creators have the skilled and professional workers that they need. We know with the Dow Chemical petrochemical facility. Whether it’s Air Products, whether it’s pipeline projects, we know that we need to have tens of thousands of skilled construction workers to be able to fuel that growth. We also need tens of thousands of skilled construction workers to be able to build the homes that we need.
Ottawa provides funding specifically in other areas that are not urgently needed in our workplaces and our economy. They specifically fund programs, initiatives, and research that furthers their ideology, and that ideology is often contrary to Alberta’s interests.

tiktok just made me input my email and password (I had to select this instead of the default of sending a code to my phone), then made me solve a captcha (that I've never seen before. I had to match object shapes and sizes), then also sent a code to my email for me to input to "verify it was me", so yeah, I think I'm actually just never going on tiktok again, thanks, 'cause holy shit
