“Don’t see myself in my face, maybe I will one day” Wrote that line in a song called “Shot and a Pill” 4 years ago. While my identity evolves constantly, every day since coming out, I feel more and more at home in my body and sure of who I am 🏳️🌈🙋🏻♀️

Last Thursday, a gentleman came to one of my classes to do a presentation with my students. He did a warmup activity where he would show kids images and they were supposed to guess what words or saying they meant if combined. This one was eventually revealed to be “Vans Old School” like the sneakers. The first image was of three white vans + an old man 👴🏼 + a picture of a school . One of my students raised his hand and guessed “pedophile”. Not going to lie I had to cover my mouth to not laugh because I thought the same thing once I saw the classic white pedo vans 🖤😂 #transteacher #kids #highschoolhumor #pedovan #girlslikeus #proudtranswoman #nonbinary #transisbeautiful (at New York, New York)

How to Be Proud
Hi, my name is Amelia Rose. I’m a 22 year old gamer, long distance runner, connoisseur of chocolate milk, and a proud transgender woman. I started my transition in the summer of 2012 and I have been living full time since January 2, 2013.
Recently I was talking to a close friend of mine who was having an exceptionally bad day. She had been feeling depressed and under the weather. As we were talking she mentioned how she hated that she was transgender and told me about many of the hardships it has caused her. In the midst of our conversation I realized how blessed I am to be where I am and to be who I am.
I realized I’m happy that I’m transgender. As ridiculous as that may sound, it’s true. I’m happy that I was born with the wrong anatomy. Being a trans person has allowed me to meet so many wonderful and beautiful trans people, many of which have become good friends of mine. It has also allowed me to experience the bliss of that first time someone calls you by the correct pronouns, the glee of changing my name, and the pure serenity of starting hormones.
It has also given me the insight of what it’s like to be transgender in a world that is extremely hostile towards us and I have seen and been the victim of discrimination and hate. I know what it’s like to have disapproving family and friends as well as having to come out to those people. I know the fear of potentially being kicked out of my house for who I am and I’ve felt the pain and anguish of having to make the choice to be my true self or to have children.
All of these experiences seem like horrible things that no one should ever have to go through and they are, but they have also given me a gift; the chance to help and inspire other trans people to be who they are. It has given me the opportunity to make something good out of something so painful. I feel truly blessed that I have the chance to make such a strong impact in so many people’s lives.
I’m now on track to pursue a career in the medical field. I have successfully graduated from college with a medical assisting degree and plan to further improve upon my knowledge by studying to be a nurse practitioner. With all of my experiences in hand and the knowledge I have acquired, I’m going to help other nurses and doctors in Colorado learn to care for trans people and I plan on advocating for trans rights every moment I get.
My name is Amelia Rose, I am a proud trans woman and I wouldn’t change that for anything.

@therealalexandrabillings 100% and I am a #ProudTransWoman as we all should be able to be. So many of our #TransSisters and #TransBrothers live in fear of being themselves and thats just beyond heartbreaking. But together we can all make a difference by letting our voices be heard letting the world know we aren't going anywhere anytime soon! Struggling with #MentalHealth #Depression and #Alcoholism this really hit me hard. I've tried to treat my body good and I've tried to heal old scars that seem to permeate my entire being. Sometimes I smile at myself in the mirror and whisper #WeGotThis #YoureGonnaBeOk then 15mins later I'm downing a bottle of vodka or fireball trying to forget my own name. I want to be my souls friend I want the living me to respect and honour all of my me but this isn't and has never been easy for me #EndTheStigma #PTSD we need to do more to make mental health affordable so that everyone can get the help they need not just the top % who can afford it #TransAndProud #ProudTransWoman #LGBT #TGLB (at Laval-Des-Rapides, Quebec) https://www.instagram.com/p/B8uflb6j29x/?igshid=cfunaao7z6sy
