Weasley Siblings Helping You With Your Protective Hairstyling
Tumblr media
Authors Note: I myself do not have textured hair, but I have friends who do. Along with friends who have family with such. I also did my best to research the best I can. DO COMMENT. I want to learn more about cultures and to educate myself after all. I wanna learn, and I want to share. I hope I do my best! If I got any information here wrong, DO say something. It can’t learn and grow if I don’t know, after all!
William ‘Bill’
Tumblr media
Since he spent quite a lot of time in Egypt, and by proxy explored many countries for work, he would honestly have some good background in protective styles. He would probably figure out your hair type easy, even. So he’s going to certainly help you when you want to redo your braids. Know where to cut when you need to change them out. Even know when you got braids you smack them when they get itchy. He’s even willing to braid them by hand, instead of magic. He probably even has friends back in Egypt to talk to that can hook you up with the good shit. That good gel and conditioner. Even some fine silk Bonnets, when you need them. He’s going to know them well. Most certainly had colleagues, from Egypt, that had braids or locs even! If anyone will know how to care for your hair, it’s him. Also helps he’s a history buff, so for all you know he uncovered some old texts that can teach him new ways to help!
Charlie
Tumblr media
He’s also a world travelver, and can be argued he’s been to more countries than Bill, but he was bit more hyperfixated on dragons over history. Doesn’t mean he knows nothing. He DOES know a lot about heat, and how it affects the world around it. He’s gonna know how to help you deal with that hit of humidity to the hair. Along with keep your hair safe when straightening it. He also knows a lot about locs. Definitely has coworkers with them, or at least keeps their hair under a Duka/wave cap. That’s something he so knows. Such as locs aren’t ’dirty hair’ and just another means of a style. Also that you gotta EARN EM. You need to go through so much to grow them, let alone care for them. He’s gotta respect the effort it takes to make after all. Of course he will help you care for em. Maybe he will ask advice on seeing if he has the hair type to have his own!
Percy
Tumblr media
He doesn’t really know much about by much at all. He’s never had a reason to. But he does know how to keep clean. He’s going to help you make sure your hair gets a deep wash before braiding. You’ll never worry about braiding greasy hair, or if your fro isn’t conditioned enough. He’s also a nerd that reads a lot. He will try his best to read up on your hair type, but reading is different than actually working with it. He’s gonna mostly be on washing, combing, and conditioning duty. He’s just got skilled enough to make sure your braids are tight. A tight braid is a useless braid. But washing is still helping a tongue, and he will massage your neck whenever you need to take a break from braiding. Stuff like that can take days, after all. He will try and be as supportive as he can for it all. He’s trying his best, and that’s all that can be asked for.
Fred and George
Tumblr media
Angelia is coming in clutch, because she is a “ended on good terms bestie” of them boys. So they know, at least the basics, when it comes to textured hair. Also helps they are incredibly quick witted, so they can pick up on things fast. Don’t get me started on how they probs can invent you different types of hair care products to unlock all the potential magic can offer. It’ll also help that they each can take a side of your head, and keep you entertained when braiding. They’ll make sure you have fun, and cared for. They’ll 100% invent a hair moisture spray to help you when your braids start itching. They would definitely love twists the most, to do to your hair. Hope you like orange and purple extensions. God the hair experiments. They’ll love trying out new hair styles on you endlessly. Hair clips in your fro, trying new braiding styles on your scalp, seeing what kind of extensions they can add. They love your textured hair. You can do so much with it, and they adore it so very much! They love your hair!
Ron
Tumblr media
Same like the twins, Ron has a basic knowledge on textured hair. Thanks to Hermione, and Lavender (iykyk) And given it was two different types he has a more solid grasp that not all hair is the same. Hermiones was dramatically different from Lavenders, after all. (Also the Weasleys themselves have their own texture hair, just on the 2a to 2c kind. The weather will definitely make it 3a though.) Anyway, he will ask Hermione for advice anyway. Asking someone who DOES have textured hair, compared to bullshitting. He just isn’t the twins when it comes to faking it until you make it. The amount of times he’s sprayed himself in the face with hairspray is never ending, but he’s a fighter. Definitely will try and make sure he has some kind of wave cap on hand for you at all times. Along with hair comb. Just trying to do things to show he cares. He definitely finds pure joy in buying you bonnets. Something he can get you, and something that will always be useful for you.
Ginny
Tumblr media
As the youngest, she learns alot from her brothers. From Hermione, Angelia, Lavender, her Quidditch players, and just typical by proxy of a girl sharing a dorm with girls that have to go through heavy routines for their nightly sleep. She just picks it up, absentmindedly, and doesn’t really notice until she applies it. She also has a lot of people for support when she wants to ask for advice. She WILL make those braids tight, and make sure your hair is pulled so far back you get a face lift. She is a certified ‘Ma’am I won’t have wrinkles until I’m eighty’ level of skill. She’s got you covered, and loves when you keep your hair natural as well. Reminds her of her older brother’s Bill and Charlie. Along with just finding hair pretty in general, having grown up surrounded by so many types. Shes gonna love doing your hair. She has never bern a 'girly girly' so she has fun doing it for others. Safe hands, no worries there!

i really like the concept of Percy outright hiding someone in his flat during the war but like it doesn't fit well with most of the people I ship him with
Like the ones i could actually think of that would benefit from it are mostly ones that would be too young to really be having much happen between them during that year
which im not saying the situation can't be just platonic because that is fun too
Like with Oliver it loses out on what makes a forced proximity fic fun to me because of them having already roomed together for years so there's no like weird phase of having to get used to the other being around and having to learn to live with them
similar situation for Penny honestly they've already been together so while i do like the idea of her staying with him its not as fun for a ship set up to me
Marcus doesn't really have a reason to be staying with him, like he could but he's not going to be in a life or death situation if someone sees him so it doesn't have the same like flavor.
Stan is fun i think if you play with him being imperioused and Percy somehow breaking him out of it or something and having him stay with him after that could be fun. Hiding him to keep him from getting imperioused again or worse outright killed
plus then you get to play not only with the fact he was in Azkaban and effects it had on him as well as the trauma of anything that happened while he was under
which is fun

HP Percy's Song
I'm years late to the Harry Potter field, and I've been reading a lot of stories that feature Percy Weasley. His character is interesting and I think he deserves a little more recognition and credit. He tries to be a good brother to his siblings even though they prefer to not be around him. I have little knowledge over the whole stretch of hp.
Hey Brother by Avicii describes Percy's relationships with his family.
"There's nothing in this world I wouldn't do" Summarizes a piece of Percy that some people forget, and while he's not the best at showing his feelings, I think he'd be there for his brothers and sister when they need him.

ron weasley did not
come to privet drive to rescue harry from his abusive home after he hadn’t been replying to any of his letters and he was worried
almost back out of following the spiders bc they’re his biggest fear, but upon seeing hermione’s empty seat at dinner, find the courage to go
defend hermione from any and everyone who called her a mudblood
constantly worry about hermione’s workload (especially in 3rd year) and notice that whenever she disappeared
offer to teach hermione his entire family tree so that she could pretend to be pure blood to keep her safe from death eaters
defend harry to everyone (percy, seamus, half the school) when everyone thought he was lying about voldemort’s return
stand up on his broken leg in front of harry and say that “if you want to kill harry, you’ll have to kill us first!” to what they believed to be a raving lunatic mass murderer
gift dobby his newest weasley jumper and the new socks he got given for christmas
stand up against snape when he was bullying hermione (and got a detention as a result)
beg the deatheaters who were torturing hermione to “leave her alone!! take [him], have [him] instead!”
always check up on his friends when he notices something is up, even if it’s in subtle ways
immediately befriend harry on the train in ps and teach him about the wizarding world
write to charlie immediately so he could help hagrid out of trouble (re the dragon, norbert)
encourage neville to stand up to people, and praise him when he actually does it
help harry put on his pajamas after he broke his arm during quidditch
have to be physically restrained from attacking malfoy after he said he wished hermione had died in cos
worry about harry’s preoccupation with the mirror of erised and how it was affecting him
remind hermione to eat her meals and get a good night’s sleep when she’s studying 24/7 for their owl exams
display acute levels of emotional intelligence in the way he interacts with harry and hermione, essentially being the glue that keeps them all together
get splinched almost in half, lose blood and suffer agonising pain but seem more worried about the cattermoles and whether or not they were okay
realise his mistakes & own up to them, acknowledging his role in certain falling outs (especially in deathly hallows)
be genuinely hilarious and fun, and lighten the load in everyone else’s’ lives with the humour he brings to
write to his mother in ps asking her to give harry presents too because he doesn’t think he’ll received any
go to the department of mysteries to help harry without a second a thought
go on the run with harry to hunt for horcruxes without a second thought
run to hermione’s aid when malfoy hits her with a nasty hex outside snape’s classroom and take her to the hospital wing
help hermione with buckbeak’s appeal, spending hours upon hours reading up on the case
extend the first olive branch after fighting with hermione because of scabber’s “death” and apologising, after which she then apologises too
demand to re-try out for the position of keeper on the quidditch team because he wanted to earn it himself with no favouritism or help
choose to stay on the quidditch team despite the bullying from the slytherin team and his nerves about his flying ability
stand up to malfoy at every opportunity, when he was insulting him, but more importantly, insulting his family & his friends
save harry’s life in dh by pulling him out of the lake, and then kill the horcrux
remember the houseelves during the battle of hogwarts and worry about their safety
continue to admire and adore his older twin brothers despite the fact that they were sometimes cruel to him
become almost annoyingly protective of his little sister (ESPECIALLY after the diary situation)
single-handedly out smart and escape five armed and deadly snatchers
try his best to overcome his insecurities and feelings of being overlooked, in order to support the people around him
sacrifice himself without a second thought during the chess game in ps because he knew harry’s survival was more important than his
for y’all to speak on him the way you do. calling him cruel, evil, selfish etc??? open your fucking eyes

Hiii could you do a George x Reader?
Where she's Sirius 's daughter and his family doesn't trust her and stuff because she's still related to people like Bellatrix and Narcissa and George gets into a heated argument with them over it? Something like that please!
Hello, helloooooo! Hope you like it ~ ♡
Tumblr media
Blood and Loyalty *.✧
Summary: Being Sirius Black’s daughter meant being judged for the blood that ran through your veins. Despite fighting alongside the Order, the Weasleys still struggled to trust you, haunted by your ties to the Black family name.
george weasley x f!slytherin reader
Tumblr media
The Burrow had never felt less like home.
You sat at the long wooden table, feeling the heat of the fire against your back, but it did nothing to thaw the ice settling in your chest.
“She’s still a Black.”
Bill’s words cut through the air like a blade, sharp and cold, and you felt your breath hitch.
The weight of the room pressed down on you as every Weasley in attendance either looked away or studied you with quiet suspicion. The judgment was suffocating, their silence worse than any spell.
It didn’t matter that you had fought alongside them.
It didn’t matter that your father had died for the same cause they claimed to fight for.
To them, you would always be the niece of Bellatrix Lestrange, the cousin of Draco Malfoy, and a member of a bloodline they had been raised to despise.
George sat beside you, his arm stretched protectively along the back of your chair, his grip on the wood tight enough to turn his knuckles white. You could feel the tension radiating off him like a storm ready to break.
“She is not like them,” George said, his voice dangerously calm, the kind of calm that only came before an explosion.
Bill sighed, rubbing his temples. “George, we’re not saying she is,” he said, though his voice lacked conviction. “But she was raised by—”
“I was raised by Sirius,” you interrupted sharply, your voice shaking with anger. “And he was murdered fighting against Death Eaters. He gave up everything for this war, and you’re sitting here acting like his daughter can’t be trusted?”
Charlie crossed his arms, his expression unreadable. “It’s not that simple.”
“Isn’t it?” you shot back, your nails digging into your palms. “Because from where I’m sitting, it looks very simple.”
Ron shifted uncomfortably in his seat. “Look, it’s not like we think you’d—y’know—do anything. It’s just… you’re related to people who would.”
George let out a hollow laugh, shaking his head. “Oh, bloody brilliant, Ron. She’s related to Death Eaters, so she must secretly be one too? That’s your logic?”
Ron scowled. “That’s not what I—”
“Well, it sure as hell sounds like what you’re saying.”
Molly put her hands on her hips. “George, don’t take that tone with your brother.”
George turned to her so fast it was a miracle his neck didn’t snap. “Oh, don’t take that tone?” he repeated mockingly. “Right, because I’m the problem here. Not the fact that you all are sitting around this table accusing my girlfriend—someone I love—of being a bloody traitor just because of her last name!”
Arthur cleared his throat, trying to keep the peace. “No one is accusing her of anything, George, but you have to understand how it looks—”
“How it looks?” George scoffed, his ears burning red with anger. “You lot are the ones who go on and on about how family doesn’t define you, but the second it’s her, suddenly, it’s different?”
Fred, who had been quiet up until now, raised an eyebrow. “I mean… he’s got a point.”
Percy, of course, was unmoved. “We’re in a war, George. We have to be cautious.”
George slammed his fist against the table, making everyone jump. “Oh, bullshit.” His voice was shaking now, barely contained fury spilling over. “You want to talk about family? Fine. Let’s talk about family. Let’s talk about Sirius, who risked his life for years just so you lot could sit here and act holier than thou. Let’s talk about Andromeda, who got disowned for marrying a Muggle-born. Let’s talk about Regulus, who died trying to bring Voldemort down. But no, let’s not talk about that, because that doesn’t fit your little narrative, does it?”
Percy’s jaw tightened. “You’re being emotional—”
“OF COURSE I’M BEING EMOTIONAL, PERCY!” George shouted, pushing back his chair so forcefully it nearly toppled over. “THIS IS HER LIFE YOU’RE SITTING HERE PICKING APART LIKE SHE’S A BLOODY SUSPECT!”
You swallowed hard, throat tight as you looked around the table. The Weasleys—the family you had desperately wanted to be a part of—were staring at you like you were a problem to be solved.
It stung. Merlin, it burned.
George turned to look at you, and the fire in his eyes softened for just a moment. Then, his grip on your hand tightened, and he turned back to his family with the same unwavering conviction.
“I trust her,” he said, his voice quieter but no less powerful. “I love her. And if you actually knew her—if you actually cared to know her—you would too.”
The silence that followed was suffocating.
Fred was the first to speak. “You do have a bad habit of thinking everyone in Slytherin is evil,” he pointed out to Percy. “Remember when you thought Malfoy was the Heir of Slytherin? Good times.”
Ginny let out a reluctant snort. “Oh yeah. And wasn’t there that time you swore our History of Magic professor was hiding Dark artifacts?”
Percy scowled. “That was a logical suspicion.”
George rolled his eyes. “Right. But my girlfriend is the issue.”
Arthur sighed heavily, running a hand over his face. “No one is saying she’s the issue, George.”
George scoffed. “Sure as hell feels like you are.”
Molly, who had been listening quietly, finally spoke. “We were wrong,” she admitted, her voice softer now. “And I’m sorry, dear,” she added, looking at you. “You’ve been nothing but kind to us, and we should’ve seen that instead of… everything else.”
Arthur nodded in agreement. “George is right. Family doesn’t define who we are. We should’ve given you more credit.”
You let out a breath you hadn’t realized you were holding.
It wasn’t perfect.
It wasn’t everything.
But it was a start.
George, however, wasn’t done. “Yeah, well, next time, maybe don’t make my girlfriend feel like a bloody criminal before you get around to realizing that.”
Charlie sighed again. “Duly noted.”
Ron cleared his throat. “So… we’re all good then?”
George huffed. “Not even remotely, but I’ll take what I can get.”
Fred smirked. “Damn, mate, I don’t think I’ve ever seen you this whipped.”
George turned to you then, brushing a strand of hair behind your ear, his touch so deliberate that it made your heart ache. “Yeah, well,” he said, grinning despite himself, “she’s worth it.”
Tumblr media
The tension lingered long after dinner had ended. Though Arthur and Molly had offered their apologies, you could still feel the weight hanging in the air. You weren’t sure if it was all in your head, but every glance in your direction felt like it carried the ghost of doubt.
George had barely left your side since the argument. His hand was either on your back, your shoulder, or intertwined with yours, as if he was afraid you’d slip away if he let go.
You sat curled up in one of the worn armchairs in the Burrow’s living room, staring into the crackling fire. The warm glow danced over the walls, casting shadows that flickered like ghosts. George sat on the floor beside you, his back against the chair, absently playing with your fingers as he watched the flames.
“They’ll come around,” he murmured, breaking the silence.
You sighed. “Will they?”
George turned slightly, looking up at you. “They bloody well better,” he said, a little fire still left in his voice. “I’m not going to spend every holiday listening to them question you when they should be questioning why Percy is still allowed at the table after the Ministry stunt he pulled.”
That made you huff out a laugh. “That’s different.”
“Oh, sure,” he said, nodding sarcastically. “He outright betrays the family, but yeah, let’s grill my girlfriend because her aunt happens to be a psychopath.”
You rested your chin on your knees, your fingers tightening slightly around his. “I just… I get it, George. Even if it hurts. The Black name is cursed in their eyes.”
George shook his head firmly. “Not to me,” he said. “Not to Sirius.”
At the mention of your father, your throat tightened. You swallowed hard, blinking rapidly at the fire. “He’d be so pissed if he saw how they treated me tonight.”
“Oh, furious,” George agreed. “He’d hex Percy’s eyebrows off just for fun.”
That actually made you snort. “And then he’d hex yours, just to be fair.”
George grinned. “Yeah, well, I’d take it as an honor.”
Silence settled between you again, but this time it was warmer, more comfortable. George kept playing with your fingers, tracing patterns on your palm.
Finally, he spoke, voice quieter now. “You are family, you know.”
You looked down at him, his profile bathed in the fire’s glow. “To you?”
He turned fully this time, twisting so he was kneeling in front of you, resting his arms on the armrest of the chair. His eyes were soft but steady, filled with something deep and unwavering. “To me,” he confirmed. “And to Fred. And Ginny. And, well, half of them already admitted they were being stupid, so give it time. They’ll see what I see.”
You swallowed against the lump in your throat. “And what do you see?”
A slow smile crept across his lips, but it wasn’t playful—it was serious. And that was what made your breath catch.
“I see the girl who’s stronger than any of them,” he said. “Who’s spent her whole life proving she’s more than a name. Who fights harder, loves deeper, and makes me feel like the luckiest idiot in the world just for being in the same room as her.”
Your heart hammered against your ribs. “George—”
“I love you,” he said, the words slipping out like they had always been there, like they had always belonged to you.
You sucked in a breath, barely realizing your hands had moved to his face, your thumbs brushing over the freckles on his cheeks.
And then you whispered, “I love you too.”
Before he could say another word, you closed the space between you, pressing your lips to his in a kiss that left no room for doubt.
George didn’t hesitate. His hands found your waist, pulling you down from the chair and into his lap, arms wrapping around you like he was never letting go.
And maybe, just maybe, he never would.

After Oliver officially became Percy's boyfriend, no one, NO ONE from Weasleys can make fun of Percy - not George, not Ron, not even Bill
NO ONE
Oliver is the most protective boyfriend in the world, and he doesn't see a SINGLE FLAW in Percy, his babygirl is perfect
He will fight for the honor of his beloved, he is a TRUE KNIGHT ⚔️⚔️⚔️
Yes, he thinks he's living in a sentimental novel. Yes, his princess doesn't agree with that for some reason.

📙Percy Weasley📕
Talk about pompous swots, the studious, rule-following, over-achieving type 👓That’s Percy. He will tell the teacher they forgot to assign homework, he will rat you out if you’re breaking rules and then not regret it, because it was the right thing to do. He will also stand up to a bully, protect a younger student. Maybe because the raucous was distracting him from his reading, but does that really matter? He takes action, but mostly because he finds a reason to care 🧐
I think Percy is a great character, he’s well-written. It’s also realistic that he had trouble with his family, from whom he is so different. Percy is the black sheep of the Weasley family. He was bullied by his brothers. Granted, they never meant to truly harm him, but being on the receiving end of pranks and jokes does tire eventually.
I think Percy is very strong. And I think he had a great character arc :) 🌈
It was so fun to draw him, all proper and prim, in contrast to the rest of the family✨✏️

Could you write something for George Weasley where he has nightmares after the battle of Hogwarts about losing reader and Fred (but they are alive) and then he wakes up in the middle of the night and doesn't see her so he thinks it was true but then she comforts him?
A/n: I thank you for not having me off Fred 🤣 because I do not think I could ever do it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was one of those nights, one of those terrible nights that brought back terrible memories of a night that he knew he'll never forget.
His body slicked with sweat, brows furrowing as he tossed and turned in his sleep.
The nightmare started out how it always did, he was running through the ruined castle of Hogwarts. He could almost taste the smoke as he spotted his twins body, Percy hovering over him begging for him to wake up.
It made him sick, made him dizzy knowing how he just lost his other half and then things shifted. His heart dropping in his stomach as he watched out protect some first years but you didn't see it coming, a green light hitting you square in the chest. Your body crumpling to the ground.
A yell taring through his throat as he shot up in bed, sheet's tangled around him as his chest heaved while tear's steamed down his cheeks.
"George...."
Not respond, George could feel his hand's shaking, he felt sick.
"George! Look at me." Your hands on his cheek to calm him down. Your fingers running through his hair as you watched his chest rapidly rise and fall. "Shhh...shh I'm here."
Shaking his head, George folded into your embrace as your fingers then ran down his back to calm him down as his tears soaked your skin. "You were gone....you and Fred were gone. It felt like I would never be happy again."
"I'm here George." You placed a kiss to his temple as he relaxed into you, his heart beat slowly retuning to normal but has yet to release you. "And we'll phone Fred in the morning okay...have a nice little lunch together."
George nodded his head, a sniffled then let out a weak laugh as he rested his cheek against your palm closing his eyes. "I love you."
"I love you too."

YESS
I had that hc for yearsss
I just imagine Percy being a little bean and Oliver going like "ah yes, I like you I'm going to protect you" and they just have that dynamic for 4 years and BOOM Percy grew a ton and people are just like"boy, where is that tiny kid that used to follow Charlie around?" And he just double his size in a summer.
Oliver still is "he needs protection" mentally but not so heavy because Percy is now the tallest but still.
Year-older Oliver grants the added bonus of Oliver towering over Percy for exactly one year and Percy suddenly catching up then totally overshooting Oliver in height well after their whole big Oliver smol Percy dynamic has been established.
Ahhh that’s funny I can that see that Oliver defintly makes fun of Percy for being short when they were younger.
When they’re older Usually I imagine Oliver shorter but bulkier while Percy is like tall and lanky
I like to think Oliver’s like 6’0 and he’s like nice that’s a fantastic height and then Percy is like 6’5 and Oliver is like wait no that’s illegal cause Oliver is tall when he’s alone but when he’s with Percy he’s “short” and Oliver hates that

Ginny Weasley
Ginny is such a fascinating character when you peel back her layers: beneath her bold, confident exterior is a girl fighting to carve out her own identity in a family where it’s easy to get lost. Being the youngest and the only girl in a family full of loud, opinionated boys? That’s a battle for space, for attention, for agency. And the way she navigates that pressure (sometimes through defiance, sometimes through sharpness) reveals both her strength and her wounds.
The Weight of Being "The Only Girl"
Ginny grows up in a household where gender roles, while never explicitly rigid, definitely shape how she is treated. Her mother dotes on her and clearly wants to protect her in a way she doesn’t with the boys. Molly’s love is fierce, but also stifling, especially for someone as independent as Ginny. Imagine how frustrating that must be when all your brothers are given more freedom while you’re constantly being watched.
This is a girl who grew up watching her brothers play Quidditch but was never invited to join them. She had to sneak out and practice on her own. Even from an early age, Ginny learned that if she wanted something, she had to take it for herself, no one was going to offer her a seat at the table.
And that kind of environment breeds a specific kind of defiance: I will not be ignored.
Why She’s So Sharp with Ron
Her relationship with Ron is especially charged because, in many ways, they’re both fighting for the same thing: respect. Ron feels like the overshadowed youngest brother, constantly compared to the successful older ones. Ginny feels like the invisible baby sister, struggling to be seen as more than a fragile little girl. When those frustrations collide? Fireworks.
• Ginny’s Insults to Ron: There’s a meanness in how Ginny talks to Ron sometimes, calling him immature, mocking his romantic failures. But isn’t that rooted in her own frustration? She sees herself as stronger and more mature because she’s had to grow up faster under the weight of being underestimated. To Ginny, Ron represents everything she’s trying not to be: uncertain, insecure, and overshadowed. Maybe tearing him down is her way of asserting her own independence.
• Ron’s Dismissiveness of Ginny: On the flip side, Ron tends to treat Ginny like a child long after she’s proven she isn’t one. He’s protective in a way that’s both loving and condescending. From Ginny’s perspective, it must feel infuriating, especially when she’s lived through things (like the Chamber of Secrets) that none of them fully understand.
Their friction isn’t just sibling rivalry, it’s a fight for autonomy, for recognition. They’re both clawing to be seen as themselves, not as the roles their family casts them in.
Her Distance from the Older Brothers
Ginny’s relationship with Bill, Charlie, and Percy is more distant, partly because they were already grown or gone by the time she came into her own, but also because she probably felt like she had to perform around them.
• Bill and Charlie: They’re the “cool, successful” older brothers, and it’s easy to imagine Ginny hiding parts of herself when they’re around. She likely admires them but knows they don’t see her fully. With them, she probably leans into the role of the “feisty little sister”, a persona that is real, but not the whole truth.
• Percy: This relationship is particularly interesting because, in some ways, Ginny might understand Percy more than the others. Both of them want to be taken seriously in a family that doesn’t always make room for that. But where Percy chose rules and ambition to carve out his identity, Ginny chose rebellion and strength. You could imagine her feeling a mix of pity and judgment toward him, maybe she sees his rigidness as a cautionary tale.
Molly’s Suffocating Expectations
Molly’s love for Ginny is intense. As her only daughter, Ginny represents all of Molly’s hopes and all of her fears. There’s a sense that Molly wants to protect Ginny in a way that feels both maternal and controlling.
• Overprotection After the Chamber: After Ginny’s trauma in her first year, I imagine Molly becomes even more protective. But for someone as strong-willed as Ginny, that kind of coddling feels like a prison. It probably explains a lot about why Ginny pushes boundaries, dating older boys, joining the DA, fighting in the Battle of Hogwarts. She needs to reclaim her power after losing it so completely to Tom Riddle.
• The “Perfect Daughter” Ideal: Molly also likely has a vision of who Ginny should b (kind, ladylike, the future wife and mother) and Ginny pushes against that every chance she gets. Her boldness, her sarcasm, her refusal to be "sweet" in a conventional sense is a direct rejection of Molly’s expectations.
I imagine Ginny feels both loved and trapped by her mother. She’s proud to be a Weasley but unwilling to be defined by her family’s image.
Ginny’s Hard Edges – A Defense Mechanism
A lot of Ginny’s harshness, especially toward her brothers, can be read as self-defense. She’s had to be tough to survive:
• The Chamber of Secrets: Ginny’s first year is marked by profound isolation and violation. No one, not her family, not even Harry, really understands what she went through. That trauma likely shapes her fierce independence. She won’t let herself be vulnerable like that again.
• Living in the Shadows: Imagine being the seventh Weasley. By the time Ginny reaches Hogwarts, every teacher, every student has already met a Weasley sibling. She’s probably constantly compared: to Bill’s brilliance, Charlie’s bravery, Percy’s ambition, the twins’ humor, Ron’s friendship with Harry. Being tough, being bold, and refusing to conform is her way of saying: I am not just another Weasley.
Why This Makes Her Relationships More Complex
Ginny’s complexities make her relationships richer and more meaningful:
• Her Love for Harry: With Harry, Ginny starts as an infatuated child but grows into an equal partner. Part of why she doesn’t coddle or chase him is because she’s tired of being dismissed herself, she refuses to play the role of "adoring girlfriend." She demands to be seen as an equal, not a prize.
• Her Bond with Fred and George: They treat her with the most respect, maybe because they also reject the family’s rigid roles. But even here, Ginny’s wit is a weapon. She has to be sharp to survive their teasing. In some ways, her humor is an armor she learned from them.
• Her Loyalty to the Family: For all her rebellion, Ginny loves her family fiercely. She stays and fights in the DA. She risks her life in the Battle of Hogwarts. She pushes back against her family’s labels not because she doesn’t love them, but because she wants them to love the real her.
The Heart of Ginny’s Story
At its core, Ginny’s arc is about fighting to be herself in a family where it’s easy to be swallowed whole. She’s bold because she has to be. She’s sharp because the world won’t make space for her softness. And beneath all that fire? A girl who wants to be loved for who she truly is, not the image others impose on her.
And maybe that’s why she’s so fascinating because in her struggle to be heard, we see both her strength and her vulnerability

IN DEFENCE OF PERCY WEASLEY
I’m re-reading the HP series and am currently at the start of Book 3. I might be writing this too soon, but god damn I feel tired for Percy. I have a lot of sympathy for that boy.
I searched online and apparently the internet hates him, but honestly what I see in him is the older child syndrome. Since Bill and Charlie are away, Percy is technically the oldest child in the house now, and I see a boy who’s desperately trying to please his parents, bring honour to himself and his family, and he has to do that while facing constant teasing and bullying from his siblings, especially the twins.
Like we all know Ron feels overshadowed by his siblings, but I think the same can be said for Percy. The twins take up most of the attention in the family and Ron and Ginny can be said to he more cared for because of their young age. I see in Percy a boy who is desperately trying to prove himself — a boy who wants to show he’s more than his poor family — because he wants better. That’s why he pushes himself to be a prefect, get 12 OWLS, and be a Head Boy! Because all these achievements are respectable and I think Percy believes if he gets these, he’s 1) able to make his family proud and 2) is able to improve his family’s reputation, which is a step to breaking free from their current conditions.
We all know the Wesley’s aren’t doing their best financially; they’re known for being poor and get bullied for it. I think Percy is tired of that and wants to have power so he can have a say in the narrative. That’s why he’s so pompous and always “puffing his chest” out. It’s unbearable sometimes, but it’s a mask. He’s trying to act tough. He’s trying to act like he matters, like he’s important, and he’s also getting achievements here and there that are of importance, in hopes that maybe, people *will* see him — and by extension maybe his family — as worthy.
Because if he doesn’t do it this way, he will be nothing, just like his family — disrespected, laughed, and sneered at. Percy’s arrogance, haughtiness, and his achievements are, to me, a form of self-protection. He knows how much the family is mocked for, and he doesn’t want to be part of it — and I don’t blame him, cause wants to hear their family being laughed at?

Better Names for the HP Epilogue Kids:
thank you @arkadijxpancakes, @fire-vvhiskey, @missbrunettebarbie, @the-phoenix-heart and the ask box anons for the excellent suggestions! I liked them so much that I just wanted to group them all in one place.
HARRY / GINNY
Fredrick (if he's the first Weasley clan grandson, and George is okay with it, Ginny might insist on this one)
Sirius (I do think it makes sense to go with Sirius, but to use it as a first name. Sirius Black's name was never officially cleared, and I think Harry would be on top of that post-war. Naming his son Sirius would be a very clear, political, statement of intent.)
Alfred (Honors Fred without being on the nose, and the Al- honors Albus without out being too on the nose. Also very Weasley-coded.)
Ariana (Honors Albus... but Harry isn't conflicted about Ariana, and it doesn't cast as huge a shadow over the kid (one step away from naming him Merlin, honestly.) Also, I think Albus would honestly be pretty uncomfortable with a child named after him, and would prefer one named after his sister)
Evan (Very classy way to name a kid after Lily Evans)
Fleamont “Monty” (Important Potter family name with a Weasley-coded nickname)
Godric (Honors Lily, James and Albus who all lived at Godric's Hollow. And of course Godric Gryffindor, because Harry and Ginny are two of the loudest Gryffindors to ever Gryffindor.
Wulfric (One of Albus' middle names, so a more subtle way to honor him. Also that "Wolf" part brings in Remus)
Ruby (Fits in well with the other Weasley names, very Gryffindory, would be an adorable way to name someone after Hagrid.)
Holly (Cute, Weasley-coded, and a botanical name like Lily while bringing in the protective elements of Harry's holly wand.)
Minerva (Harry and Ginny both have nothing but good associations, it's a good name, and "Minnie" is a cute Weasley-ish nickname. Also makes more sense than 'Luna,' which they went for in-canon.)
The Weasleys seem to possibly favor names with an Arthurian vibe (Arthur, Percy) and they are very wizardy in a way Harry might enjoy. So some options in that category:
Vivienne (magical character)
Elaine (also happens to be the "Lily Maid," so another way to get Lily in there)
Gawain (very Gryffindor kind of guy)
Guinevere (Gwennie or Jenny for short. Ginny and Jenny would be very cute)
RON / HERMIONE
Jean (Hermione's middle name, and very possibly her mom's name. It would make a lot of sense to name kids after Hermione's (muggle) parents)
Harriet (cute way of naming a kid after Harry, who is basically family to both Hermione and Ron)
Everyone seems to like the idea of Hermione and Ron going to Shakespeare for their names. 'Hermione' is a Shakespeare name, and it makes sense that she would favor a muggle writer who loves to write about magic. Some good options:
Hero (Ron would think this is cute and funny)
Rosalind
Prospero / Prosper (naming a son after the wizard character would be fun for both of them)
Miranda (the wizard's daughter)
Owen (after wizard Owen Glendower)
Viola
Lysander
Imogene
Robin (Robin Goodfellow, so fairy/magic connection)
Benedick
Perdita (Hermione's daughter in A Winter's Tale. Hermione would get a kick out of this)
Toby
Edgar
Eleanor
Sebastian
Tamora
DRACO / ASTORIA
Corvus (This is the constellation that would have been in the sky during the Battle of Hogwarts/Voldemort's death, which makes it a classy choice... but it also does show up in the Fantastic Beasts films as a super Lestrange name, and Draco would know that.)
Regulus (makes a LOT of sense to honor another Death Eater who changed sides, as well as the Black family. Underlines the importance of family tradition while also allowing Draco to telegraph exactly where his new loyalties lie.)
Berenice (also referencing a constellation above the death of Voldemort. Means 'victory bringer,' which - appropriate.)
Aquila (another astronomy name. Latin for "Eagle," which might make a nice pair with Astoria, which means "Hawk.")
Amalthea (very, very pretty and soft astronomy name.)
Sylvius/Sylvia (Latin "forest." Nice, standard pureblood name, but the meaning does have a nice overlap with Astoria's maiden name, Greengrass. Also, the 'y' and 'l' sounds makes it sound really nice with 'Malfoy.')
Draco might also want to use a botanical name, to honor Narcissa. The narcissus (daffodil) is also an early spring flower, and I think that symbolism would appeal to Draco and Astoria: publicly communicate that this is a new start for the family. In that category, I like:
Iris
Hyacinth (Draco would use this name for either a boy or girl. Also sounds similar to 'Hyperion,' Scorpius' canon middle name, so presumably Draco and/or Astoria would think it sounds nice)
Forsythia (Just a very striking flower name. Also "Sythie" as a nickname is kinda cool.)
