Oh my was 14x12 an episode.

Like, the writers knew exactly what they were doing.

So Sam found a case on the way to enact Dean's shitty plan, right? And the latest victim was a twin brother to the brother they're talking. The brother they're talking to is named Eddie and the dead brother is Alan.

Eddie: “Alan always said he was my big brother because he was born first” *camera pans to Dean* “by like 4 minutes”

Also Eddie: “Losing him is like losing a part of myself.”

Like, we literally just had a conversation in Baby about how Sam should just let Dean go and how he's not changing his mind on this and then they get here and get told this.

Seriously. This show.

And then they get to the whole "we need to kill Donatello to set the prophet line right" scenes and, just, this is what the doctor said to Sam and Dean when they get there.

“Sometimes letting go is the right choice.”

Like, come on. You're not even trying to be subtle anymore (not like they ever were to begin with).

And then immediately at the beginning of the next episode, Dean crying out for Sam. You can hear the pain in his voice. God, that scene fucks with me more so than when Dean screamed for Sam in hell.

The high pitched cry for his brother. The fear in his eyes. Makes me tear up every goddamn time.

I like to read it as Sam knowing what Dean is thinking about seeing Cas like that, hence the disgusted face, while smiling at Cas at the same time.

it’s partially about someone losing an older brother and his grief, and takes place when dean’s about to lock himself up with michael for eternity.

they then try to stop the person who killed said older brother, fail, and he kills himself because he can’t handle the alternative.. as sam is trying to convince dean not to commit suicide-plus. the reason dean’s about to condemn himself to eternal torture? because he can’t handle the idea of michael being free on earth.
