luke fumbling in recruiting percy has to be one of his greatest failures. a beautiful thing the show does regarding luke and percy's relationship is building rapport between them through shared moments like settling into camp, eating meals together, but especially through swordfighting lessons. the swordfighting scene at the beginning of episode 8 not only reveals that percy and luke already share similar beliefs about the fear-based system the gods have cultivated, but it's clear the conversation stays with percy when he fights ares and later calls out zeus on his waning skills as a father and a king. however, luke's plan fell through the moment percy learned that the winged-shoes were meant to drag him to tartarus. not only that, but the shoes nearly killed grover, a friend percy cared for deeply. if nourishing loyalty and trust was the key to ensuring a partnership with percy, then it was luke's faulty planning, arrogance, and impatience that cost him the greatest ally he could ask for.

in the hebrew bible, rather than a false/real prophetic register, there are those within hashem's reference and those without. the latter—those whose voice and vision are non-hebraic, emerging from the heavens of baal, or el, or asherah, or any other ancient near eastern god/dess—these prophets are as strong as those hashem sends. see ezekiel 13:20. here, non-hebrew prophetesses sew nepheshot into pillow cases. their violence comes not from any falsity or fabulation, but from the fact that this suturing is real, and it hurts

as funny as i think it would be for hak and su-won to be sitting around the crest, head in hands because none of their ideas are working, only for yona to suddenly pop out with the dragons in tow like “hi guys i fixed everything :)” i do think the interpretation of hak and su-won as the sword and the shield is starting to hold more weight now, especially considering ik-su’s comment in ch 43 about how it’ll take a while for the sword and shield to appear (i.e. reconcile and be able to work together)

Oh man. Oh man hold on I'm gonna ramble.

Tldr; The lamb is a survivor above all else, with very complicated emotions and morals towards the bishops. I haven't decided on their eldritch form yet!

OKAY OKAY to answer this I have to give a little ramble about TCOLC. It's yet to be written, but I'm working on it slowly!!! It'll be on AO3 as soon as I get an account. Promise 🙏

TCOLC is my cotl au, The Cult of Lost Crowns !!

I don't want to spoil too much of the actual book plotline, but one of the things I've added on in my au is INSANE lamb backstory!

The lamb was born in Concolor, the domain of the God Narinder. Narinder was of course long chained by this point. Concolor was the native range of the lamb people, being a land of tall mountains and cold weather. The domain had been slowly being taken over for a while by the other 4 bishops. When Lambert was young, the bishops decided to completely close off the gateway into Concolor, leaving anyone inside trapped.

Lambs' mother insisted they needed to leave and sneak apst the guards at the gate disguised, Lambs father stood his ground and insisted they stay. Lambs father won in the end, by way of violence. Lambert escaped the house with only a gunshot wound in the back of the arm to show for it. They had taken their mom's idea to heart, and started the long but hasty journey to the gateway of Concolor. They joined in many groups of hiding and fleeing sheep along the way, but in the end, as we know, they were the only one left.

The lamb has very complex emotions towards the bishops, all 5 of them. Narinder is who they lived their life silently worshipping, and of course he gave them a second chance after their execution. But, as many people in the fandom like to touch on, Narinder asks them to sacrifice themselves a second time, for him. In my au, they refuse. The lamb is a survivor at heart.

The other bishops killed them and their entire race of people, but the lamb can't help but feel sorry for them. Injured beyond mortal repair, betrayed by a member of their own family (not unsimilarly to how Lambert themselves were betrayed by their father)...

I cant go too much else into it without spoilers!!! I hope you enjoyed my ramble :]

Daenerys is the Prince that was Promised. When she visits the House of the Undying, she is told she is the child of three, which relates to the three heads of the Dragon. And the child of three/three heads of the Dragon means she is the Prince that was Promised, the Stallion who Mounts the World, Azor Ahai. They are all myths retelling the same story, just in a different cultural lens.

People forget that Martin’s subversion of the Chosen One trope is based on 90s fantasy...which was overwhelmingly male characters and candidates, perhaps the most significant at the time being Rand al’Thor of the late Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time series. No one would expect, at the time, that the Prince that was Promised would be a princess. Most would have argued, as a significant portion of the fandom does till this day, that it is Jon, the standard male hero character. Jon being the Prince that was Promise would be a trope in of itself. Since we have gone beyond 90s fantasies, there have been more female chosen ones (Daenerys paved the way), but she still resides in that 90’s concept of a female Chosen One. (Also ignoring the obvious Jesus parallels such as her walk through the desert, her being born of fire, Bonfier Hasty worshiping the Maiden because of his love for Rhaella, etc).

I note as much ("They are all myths retelling the same story, just in a different cultural lens.") HERE. branwyn-the-half-witch has an interesting thought that that particular title accidentally developed from Aegon seeing a Targ from his own blood ("prince") be needed ("promised") for a future fight HERE.

Which justifies how the TPTWP title/meaning exists in Westeros; no other Westerosi (maester or otherwise) really spoke of it before Stannis, who of course received such from Melisandre and more a restored-but-half-realized knowledge of the original Essoi mythic body of a savior. Said "restored" because the Targs have been isolated from or cut themselves from Essos but were still magically/by blood connected to it...bc their very blood is that source for those dragon dreams.

(Ironically, the Seven faith--meant to mimic Catholicsm and the Catholic Church in its:

dogma

that dogma's rigidity's influence over the whole of Westeros' society (chivalry/warriordom; mores on hierarchy and obedience, childrearing/corporal punishment, the self-mortification of the carving stars in one's forehead [though this is present in many real-world religions and sects, in the West its immediately recognized and associated with Christian self flagellation])

the multiplicity of many aspects of one god, the aesthetics of stained windows or multicolored glass/translucent substances inlaid or making up part of a geometric, architectural structure [not just buildings but crowns of the high Septon and Aenys I]

the structure of High Septon, septons, and septas mirroring Pope, priests/deacons/measters-monks/nuns

the HS/Pope's relationship with monarchs as to sometimes affirm and sometimes condemn and be some sort of religious "check" but also support for the monarchy

"holy days"

the Knights Templar (who were aka "The Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon") & crusaders inspiring the Poor Fellows & the Warrior's Sons

has no element of a Christ-like or a generally mythic savior figure in its mythos. The none Catholic/Seven faiths [except the old gods, but even here there is a hint of a need for saving against the Long night but its just so decreased bc of te nearly lost greenseers and twstsote and the giants] all have this focus on a savior figure instead.)
