Right so I am kinda slow and behind. I do watch the JP translations when they are out but since I’m an ENG server player, I noticed something which is quite interesting but just made me curious.

In context, I found this a little confusing. We know dragon faeries are the strongest around, and we also know for a fact that Henrick planned to use Malleus as a mount after stealing the egg in his future reign. Lilia stated the, let’s say, fae version of “…awaiting a prince on a white horse”, I was confused that he used ‘dragon’. Is this to imply that there are dragons that are not faeries? And the faeries tame those creatures?

Idk if this was discussed but it pretty made me wonder what could this mean. Like he mentioned some direbeasts, could it be that dragons are separate creatures from dragon faeries who can turn into dragons? Or something else?

I've been thinking that dragons and dragon-fae are separate species, with the latter descended from the former, like how it works with the beastfolk.

In Tamashina Mina, there's a part where Leona explains how his hometown was specifically designed to include a lot of greenery in it, for the sake of their "animal ancestors".

Leona: The people here value “coexistence with nature” more than anythin’ else, and we make sure to conserve natural areas like this so the local animals have places to live, since they’re our ancestors and all.

And the way Ruggie talks in one of his chats, he describes literal hyenas as his ancestors.

(Not to mention how the King of the Beast is always depicted as an actual animal, as are Simba and Rafiki in the statue dedicated to them in Leona's hometown.)

This is similar to how Lilia said that the Draconia family is descended from dragons.

Lilia: Even amongst us fae, the Draconia family is renowned for their long lifespans. [...] They’re descended from dragons, after all.

Lilia also mentions in a voiceline for his scary dress card that he met a Lóng once, and noted the color of its scales. It's unclear if the Lóng was a fae or not, but if it's a reference to Mushu like I'm thinking then, I feel it was probably a literal dragon-dragon, and not a fae. So that would be at least one dragon that's not a dragon-fae.

Lastly, if Yana took any inspiration from the live action Maleficent films when designing the nocturnal fae, there's also a bit of lore in the second film that describes how the Dark Fae (Mal's species) are descended from a proginetor Phoenix and "evolved over centuries" into their current, humanoid forms. This could be how the dragon fae arose!

All of this to say, I think it's that there are - or at least, used to be - literal dragons in Twisted Wonderland, and then maybe a line of them branched off and became dragon fae, just like how it presumably happened with lion beastfolk, hyena beastfolk, etc. I guess the closest real world example would be like how polar bears evolved from an isolated population of brown bears, and both species still exist today. Or even dogs and wolves, etc.

So far, the easiest Synchro themes give a Level 10 counterpart seem to be three Duel Terminal archetypes that didn't get theirs, X-Sabers, Yang Zings, and Crystrons.

Crystrons are less likely than the others, since any future WATER Machine support will likely focus on Dinomists instead, as they will likely get their own archetypal Fusion Pendulum eventually.

X-Sabers are fairly interesting, primarily because of Yaiba, so there may be animé allusions.

Duel Terminal archetypes rarely go over Level 10, and there aren't any that are at Level 12.

For Level 10 Synchros that go to Level 12, the only non-animé/manga, or lore storyline related ones are Masterflare Hyperion, and Ghoti of the Deep Beyond. One of them was in the The Agent SD R, and the other is a World Premiere, making them both unlikely.

Among the animé ones, Malefic Paradox Dragon, Timelord Proginetor Vorpgate, and Flower Cardian Lightflare are currently the safest options. Reiji's D/D/D Synchros also deserve an honourable mention, even though they won't likely be the focus of any recent support for a while.

(Most of the Level 11 Synchros can theoretically get a Level 12 counterpart, as we discussed before. Since there is only a few of them, we don't go over them individually. As we discussed before, among them Star Eater is the most likely option.)

Aaye vampy! I was curious, when and how did you get into vampire lore? :o

BIG QUESTION, I don’t quite know myself but my memory goes back as far as around the age of at least.... 8 years old, I have had a fascination since the moment I started watching old classic vampire movies then what got me hooked was The Lost Boys. Ever since, I had somehow made it my goal to read up on every vampire-related book I could find at my local libraries and let me just say: I have read some really horrible vampire novels in my time & I forgot each title so I can’t tell you which ones to avoid. I think what really gets me is that each region and culture has their own variation of a vampire or creature relating to it. Their origins are also pretty vague or masked in mystery so it’s fun to imagine how they came to be. Many lore / legends depict the vampires to be the direct descents from the bibical Lilith after she was turned demon so that’s honestly a pretty interesting concept to me. Others say it’s a disease or some mutation that developed over time meanwhile another is that it’s a type of CURSE - to somehow mirror that of werewolves where it is a sort of damnation. How: simply devouring every book I could find on it. I also am still currently getting into the lore of vampires within different cultures. I recently just got a book on vampires which have variations based on each different movie - ranging from classics, the b-rated obscure ones then down to the more modern interpretations aka that of Underworld and Blade ( although that isn’t too new ). OH - can I just say how I genuinely enjoy the interpretation of Dracula in Penny Dreadful? Who would have thought that someone would depict the big bad Dracula to be the brother of Lucifer himself. I really liked this show for it’s blending of classic literature and giving us something entirely fresh despite the time era. I have reread the original Dracula time and time again to see the hints of similarities that they put into the show too so it’s nice to see that literature and lore have a nice representation ??? i rambled so much ;;

Summarized History: Woke up in the desert with Razohr, trained by Lance in the ways of Stormcatcher, became super obsessed with serving Stormcatcher, and ended up throwing her clan into harsh times because of it. She finally got to see him, found out he hated her, found out she was a reborn, and fled when other clans began to drive her and her clan out. Plaguebringer granted her shelter, the clan overthrew her position of authority, and now she lives in the skull of the gaint skeleton close to the outside of the clan's border. Now acts as an excecutioner should her services be needed and assists dragons that wish to exalt in becoming useful to their diety.
